I live in an older home. It was built in 1927, back in the days when house were made without insulation.  Oh it’s well constructed – it’s triple brick so it’s solid, but yes, it could be warmer, especially since it’s an 87 year old house. The walls of my home are lathe and plaster and there is an air gap between my walls and the brick and mortar.  I think it’s time to spend some money to ultimately save some money!

I’ve been considering getting a company like Imperial Roofing to spray insulation into the walls and also to spray insulation in the small attic.  I haven’t checked to see how much this will cost but our government gives tax breaks for energy wise home improvements so I’d likely be able to write off a portion of the cost.  Plus, once the insulation is in, I know the heating bill will go down quite a bit because the house will not be drafty anymore!  Ok I might have a few windows that also need replacing but insulating the walls and the attic will help the most.

I’m including a fantastic infographic in this post about stopping energy leaks by using proper insulation in your home. Â It’s quite informative:

Every responsible pet owner should know the activities and whereabouts of their pet each day. However, sometimes our pets get mischievous and out of our sight for short periods of time. They may get into items that can do serious harm. Following a few safety tips can help keep your pet healthy and save you unnecessary anxiety, grief, and medical expense.

Medication

Keep all medication in a medicine cabinet and out of reach. Just as you would keep medicine away from a young child, the same applies for your pet. Even if you have medicine in child proof containers, it is possible for pets such as dogs or cats to get into these containers with their sharp teeth and strong jaws. Avoid leaving pills on a table or counter even if you are in the process of reaching for a glass of water to take your medication. Pets are quick to investigate and can have it eaten before you prevent them from doing so.

Small Household Objects

Whether you realize it or not, small objects can be very harmful to pets. Although some pets can swallow an object and later pass it through their feces, there are some objects that may get stuck in the stomach or intestines. If an object gets stuck in your pet, it can lead to health problems requiring surgery to remove. In rare cases, death could occur. To avoid a costly medical lesson, keep small objects out of reach from your pet.

Household Toxins

It is best to keep household items such as bleach, shampoo, bug sprays, and antifreeze locked up and out of reach from your pet. Any toxic substance can create a serious threat to your pet. If you plan to have your house sprayed for insects, make sure to ask that the exterminator use pet safe products whenever possible. If safe insecticide sprays cannot be used, remove your pet from the premises until it is safe for your pet to return to your home.

Human Food

Avoid feeding your pet human foods.

Although most dogs enjoy chewing on bones, chicken bones can cause choking for a pet if it gets hung in the throat. Chocolate is another food that can be dangerous to your dogâ€s health because a dog cannot digest chocolate.

Plants

Keep plants such as poinsettias away from your pet. Although poinsettias make an attractive decoration around the holidays, they are poisonous to eat. Sometimes dogs and cats are tempted to eat the leaves and suffer from an upset stomach or develop other health issues.

Mold and Your Pets

Black mold can develop in dark corners or cabinets within your home or outside buildings. Usually this type of mold can develop because of a flooding problem affecting the premises. Mold can cause many health problems in pets such as mild respiratory disease or sever lung problems. Mold poisoning can weaken the capillaries in the lungs of your pets which can cause bleeding. Hemorrhaging of the lungs can develop that can cause death. Make sure to have your home inspected periodically and have black mold problems eliminated through treatment. Other types of mold can grow on foods if left out for any length of time. Mold that grows on food can also be very harmful to your pet. Make sure to throw away any leftover food to avoid your pet from eating the leftovers and getting sick.

Because a pet is a part of your family that you grow to love, it is important to treat them as you would treat a young child. Always be careful to consider their mischievous personality and take the necessary preventative steps to ensure your petâ€s safety at all times. By following these tips, your pet can live a long and happy life.

Introduction

Yoga is a type of workout that integrates the power of meditation. It is mind boggling to say that our brain is powerful enough to command the body what to do. Thus, with the correct meditational skills, our bodies can perform through various yoga poses. Being a skill of mind and body, yoga is absolutely effective in reducing our stress level and eventually improves our energy. Aside from that, it is also known to improve flexibility, balance and strength. It is noteworthy that yoga poses will depend on your skill and on how long you have been doing yoga. Beginners usually perform easy poses giving their bodies the appropriate leeway to get used to the exercise.

The Top 10

The positions below are arranged in a particular order that you gracefully change to the next position in a smooth and fluid-like manner. It is to be noted that you must stay within each of the poses for five breaths before moving on to the next.

Mountain Pose- This position is called as such because you just stay still as a mountain. You can do this either by sitting or by standing. This pose will make you bring yourself to your body.

Â

Standing Forward Bend- After doing your mountain pose, you bend your body forward as you exhale. Tuck your chin toward your chest and extend your head towards the floor. Make sure that you straighten your legs and put your entire weight on your toes. Place the palms of your hands on the mat lining up with your toes.

Four-Limbed Staff- This is the next step after the Standing Forward Bend position. As you exhale, put both limbs back as if you are doing a push-up. Bend your elbows; make sure that your shoulders are parallel to your elbows. Your body must also be in parallel with the floor. Pull your navel to your spine to protect your lower back.

Upward Facing Dog- Once you have achieved the Four-Limbed Staff, you slowly inhale and scoop your chest forward. Face up and let the posterior part of your head touch your back.

Downward Facing Dog Pose- As you inhale, tuck your toes under your heels. As you exhale, lift your hips and form an inverted letter V. Stretch your arms forward with your palms facing down. Spread your fingers and make sure that your middle finger is in line with your elbows. Relax your head between your arms. Make sure you stare at your legs or on your navel.

Three-Legged Dog- Shift your weight onto your hands and slowly lift your right leg into the air. Put your gaze to your left thigh or to your navel. You do the same with your left leg.

Dolphin or Puppy Pose- Put your elbows down on the mat with your palms facing the mat. See to it that your middle finger is in line with your elbow. Make an inverted letter V; ensuring that your legs are straight. Your heels must be touching the mat. Relax your head in between your arms and direct your eyes to your legs or navel.

Chair Pose- Go back to the Mountain Pose and bend your knees. Your thighs must be touching each other. Raise your arms with your palms facing each other. Put your weight on your heels with your eyes gazing up your ceiling.

Warrior 1-With the arms up and both knees bent forward; slowly stretch your left leg backward with your heels touching the mat. Lift your torso up; stretch up your arms; and spread your fingers. Your palms must be touching each other. Put your gaze up to the ceiling.

Warrior 2-From the Warrior 1 pose, twists your upper torso such as it is facing your left side. Extend your arms out in a way that it is doing the letter T position. Your gaze must be on your right hand.

Conclusion

Yoga is a very interesting exercise that involves the mind and body. Once you have mastered it, you will not only keep yourself fit but also induce inner peace.

I am redecorating my home at the moment and it is not the first time I have given the place a facelift. Every few years I tend to survey my domain and wonder what the hell I was thinking of! I have often been left believing that I have appalling taste but in reality tastes do simply change and we all want the latest in thing. We then start frowning on the styles of previous decades. This leaves me asking myself what features of my new decorative schemes for 2013 will I be looking at in horror in the years to come.

Current Trends

At this point in time it is all about neutral tones and an altogether less fussy and more organic approach. Todayâ€s stylish rooms have plain walls, wooden floors, solid wood furniture and feature just accents of colour. The clean lines and functionality of Scandinavian design are all the rage and clutter, over ornamentation and busy wallpaper are most certainly out of favour. It is difficult to imagine shrinking back in horror at the sight of my cream walls and simple oak furniture in the future but who knows? Maybe we will all find this approach rather boring in retrospect and the psychedelic patterns and bright hues of the 1970â€s will return to favour. I hope not because I didn’t like 1970â€s décor when it was the height of fashion and I am still haunted by the hideous blue swirly tiles that were a prominent feature of my last home when I bought it.

Bathrooms

Talking of bathrooms, having rid my life of several coloured monstrosities over the years and replaced them with simple white affairs, I am really hoping that some style guru somewhere doesnâ€t start a trend for avocado and pink. It always seems that after a few years the stylists become restless and have to start experimenting. The goal posts get moved and we are all suckered into thinking that we must make changes but they are not always for the better. Who decided that a brown bathroom suite was a good idea? Well clearly someone did because when I was last viewing houses I stumbled across a few of these shockers.

Cupboards

My biggest issue with interior décor is fitted cupboards. I have never liked them and almost certainly never will and so have pulled out all the cupboards in my house and replaced them with free standing furniture. I know that at some point these things will be all the rage again and my home will look like an anachronism and a monument to poor taste. Whatever we do in our homes and no matter how hard we try to achieve timeless elegance the results will always be of their era and at some point are going to look dated. The trouble is we can never know which things are going to fall out of favour.

The Future

I guess I can see the day when I will grow tired of neutral walls and I may fall out of love with my bright nautically themed bedroom but I am never going to have a coloured bathroom suite again and that is final. I also refuse to contemplate the return of swirly patterned tiles, carpet in bathrooms and the ultimate nightmare – a lava lamp! My stylish Porta Romana lamps, simple white bathroom and plain tiles should stand the test of time but then again I said that about my old floral curtains in the living room!

When you want to add extra living space to your home, look no further than your backyard. You can create a comfortable and attractive space just by adding outdoor furniture. The area can have multiple uses. Use it for parties, as an outdoor office area, or just for relaxing.

Tables

When choosing an outdoor table, consider what you will use it for the most. Will it be used as a breakfast table, a party table or as a worktable? A breakfast table to seat two people can be just a small pretty table. It doesnâ€t need to be as sturdy as a party or work table.

The type of table you should choose also depends on if you have a screened-in patio or not. Some outdoor tables have glass tops. These are attractive and easy to clean, but could be damaged during a hailstorm if left out in the open. If you want a similar look to glass but without the fragile nature, choose a table with a Plexiglas top.

Wood, vinyl or wrought iron are also popular items and more durable than glass top tables.

If you plan to host large parties or picnics, your best option may be to buy a few picnic tables. These seat several people at once and hold up well to the weather.

You should also purchase end tables or coffee tables if you are buying outdoor sofas or loveseats. You will need these as places to set drinks or other items.

Seating

Outdoor seating has come a long way and is far beyond plastic lawn chairs. While there is nothing wrong with lawn chairs, keep comfort in mind when creating your backyard living space. Wrought iron, wicker, resin and teak are among the materials to buy for your outdoor sofas and chairs. Washable cushions are often included. If not, you can buy them separately.

Hammocks and hammock chairs are a great idea if you want to create a relaxing space for reading or napping. If your yard lacks trees, you do not have to give up on having hammocks. You can purchase hammock stands or poles for hanging these.

Swinging chairs are not just for porches. You can find freestanding swinging chairs for your backyard. Most sit at least two people.

Accessories

Unless your patio is already covered, you should consider buying a patio umbrella or canopy. This way, you will be able to enjoy your backyard even when the sun is glaring down or on rainy days.

Some patio tables come with patio umbrellas, which are usually removable. Another option is to purchase a freestanding patio umbrella. These can be more convenient as you can move them to any area shade when desired.

Adding an outdoor rug can make your new backyard living area feel more inviting. There are many styles made of weatherproof or weather resistant materials.

After you have purchased your outdoor furniture, the only thing left is to add some decoration. This can be a simple as adding a few potted trees or plants to the area. However, you can make it as simple or as elaborate as you want.

Your children can be great travel companions, but they can also create some challenges. Many parents are nervous about taking their children into a hotel, especially a higher-end hotel. Fortunately, there are a few simple things that you can do to make sure that your children get along fine and donâ€t disturb any of the other people there.

There are a number of factors that you will want to take into consideration. However, the most important step to take is finding a hotel that your children will be comfortable at.

What Type of Hotel Should Your Children Stay at?

Traveling with children doesnâ€t have to be stressful. However, you will need to plan your trip carefully and prepare for possible problems ahead of time. Here are some things that you can do to make your trip less stressful.

Choose a Hotel that is situated for Children

You will want to be careful when picking a hotel. Some hotels are more suitable for single travelers or honeymooners than families. Look for one that has all the features that will keep your children happy. Here are some amenities that a hotel should have for anyone traveling with children:

Look for a hotel that offers complementary breakfasts. Food can get expensive so this will be a good way to save money.

Find a hotel that has a cooking unit and large refrigerator. You donâ€t want to have to spend a lot of money going out to eat when you are traveling with the entire family.

Ask the hotel what the typical demographic of their visitors is. You may not have any trouble keeping your children at a hotel that is typically frequented by seniors. However, your family may have a hard time staying at a hotel that is going to be filled with college students partying on spring break.

Look for a hotel that has activities for your children to enjoy. Many hotels offer pools and other things to keep your children busy. These may be more essential when you are traveling in a city where you will be spending a lot of time in your hotel room, but it will be important anywhere.

Try to find a hotel that is located away from busier roads. This is especially important if you are traveling with children under 7. However, you will be a lot safer staying in a hotel near a major highway regardless of your childâ€s age. You will all be able to sleep a lot easier if you donâ€t have to worry about traffic driving past your room all night.

Ask if the hotel has thick blinds. Your children will be able to sleep much later if you can close the light out of the room.

You will need to find a great hotel that your children will want to travel at. Make sure that you choose a hotel where your children will be safe and not likely to get bored. This will make things much less stressful for everybody.

Basic Cookie, Spectacular Results

If Mom enjoys gardening and the great outdoors, create a garden cookie bouquet. You can purchase sets of garden cookie cutters, or you can make do with what you already have. Make your favorite sugar cookie recipe (chilling the dough before and after shaping will help the cookies keep their shape) and roll your dough about ½ again as thick as normal.

Cut your garden shapes; butterflies, flowers, ladybugs, watering cans, and seed packages are all cute ideas (and you can make ladybugs with regular circle cutters and seed packages with a square cutter or butter knife). Insert wooden skewers or craft sticks into the bottom of the cookies and bake. The thicker cookies will take a little longer to bake so keep your eyes on them to prevent burning.

When the cookies are cooled, use icing, decorating tips, colored sugars, edible markers, and candy bits to decorate in bright, summery colors. If the cookies are not going to be eaten right away, you can wrap each one with plastic wrap and tie with a ribbon. Place a piece of Styrofoam or florists†foam in an unused plant pot or galvanized pail and insert the skewers. Cover the foam with tissue paper, and voila, a gorgeous, delicious cookie bouquet.

A New Arrangement

If your recipient really loves chocolate chip or oatmeal cookies, or another variety that doesnâ€t lend itself to being skewered, think about different ways you can present your cookie gift to her.

A gift basket starring cookies. You can fill in your container with teas, coffees, fruit, and other goodies.

Get treat bags and wrap each cookie individually. You can then write a sweet message on each. This is great if you have children who want to make a special mom a treat.

Use a fun container. Try a galvanized pail, a giant coffee mug, an elegant glass canister, a recipe box she can reuse, or give her cookie mix in a jar.

But you can also use cookies as the container. Why not make cookie bowls and fill them with a little baggie full of ice cream sundae accoutrements like sprinkles or sanding sugar or serve mom dessert in one of these fun bowls? You simply make your dough, flip over a muffin pan and form the dough over the cups. Bake and you have an edible bowl!

Itâ€s the thought that counts, so be sure to put a little extra thought and care into your Mother’s Day cookies!

There is a very common misconception that weight loss has to be painful, uncomfortable and hard. Now, while I donâ€t want to make little of the difficulties involved, it is clear that for many people, this misconception makes the whole process harder.

Over the years Iâ€ve seen many people facing the same challenges and problems. In most cases, all it took was for them to change the way they approached the problem. Health, fitness and weight loss shouldnâ€t ever be a short-term thing. It should be a fundamental lifestyle change that benefits you for years to come.

Here are the 3 crucial factors which will help you on the road to long term fitness and health:

1. You Donâ€t Have to Eat Less!

When most people set out to lose weight the first thing they do is cut down on how much food they eat each day. Now, although this will often result in short term weight loss, it will also make you hungry and low on energy. In most cases this results in you reverting back to old habits after only a few weeks.

A much better approach is to eat more of the right things. Green vegetables, beans, pulses and protein sources will all help give you the energy you need without giving your body the sugars and fast release carbohydrates that most processed foods will give. This way you wonâ€t be hungry, will have lots of energy and lose weight over a much longer period. The best thing about this approach is that you will actually keep their weight off once you’ve lost it!

2. Donâ€t Avoid Fat

Fat isnâ€t always bad. There are many different types of fat. If you are looking to lose weight and improve your health then you should try and avoid ‘saturated fatsâ€. However, there are also many ‘good†natural fats which you should still eat (in moderation). These fats make sure that your body maintains its ability to process fat and will also help your skin and bones to stay healthy. You will find natural fats in most meat and nuts.

3. Create HabitsÂ

If you are serious about changing your lifestyle in the long term you need to replace your old ‘bad†habits with new ‘good†habits. Most people think that habits take years to create. In reality, you can make something a habit in only a few weeks, once it has become a habit it then takes years to reinforce.

To make a start, focus on eradicating one bad habit each week and replacing it with one good one. Start with something simple, like starting the day with a glass of water. Over time, all your bad habits will eventually get replaced with healthy, good habits and you will start feeling the benefits.

Donâ€t fall into the trap of following the latest crash diet. If you are serious about changing the way you look and feel, commit to achieving long term results. If youâ€re not sure where to start, just follow these three easy steps and take it from there.

Yeah, those. The ones we usually spend obscene amounts of money on just to have them never quite fully break in and rip apart our poor little footsies in the process.

Before you give up on those bad boys (and trust me, I know how tempting it is to give up on them and just adore them from afar in your shoe closet), try some more creative ways of breaking them in without completely totaling your feet. Don’t worry – here are 5 ultimate tips to help you in your process.

Stretch ’em Out, Moleskin Style

Many of the problems associated with new shoes come in the form of tightness and pinching in super uncomfortable areas that make your feet ache all day long. You may have heard the trick of putting a piece of moleskin over the part of your foot that’s being pinched, but this tip takes it one step further.

Place the moleskin on your foot where it is being pinched, then soak your foot in water, with the moleskin on (the sticky stuff on moleskin is pretty waterproof). Once your foot is dry, slip it into the shoe that’s causing the pain and wear the shoe around for a bit. Since the moleskin has been soaked in water, it’s expanded, and can therefore help expand the exact parts of the shoe that are pinching in the first place.

It’s an easier way to stretch out just the right areas of the shoes that are hurting you without having to resort to your big-foot friend wearing the shoes around for you to stretch them out on your behalf (talk about a ruined pair of shoes!).

Drown ’em

Water isn’t exactly the best thing you can put a new pair of leather shoes into contact with, but, when used properly, it can really help to stretch out your shoes in just the right way.

First, make sure you thoroughly waterproof a new pair of leather shoes with some sort of waterproofing agent or spray. Once you’re sure the agent is dry and the shoes are waterproof, just dunk them into a big pot of water and hold them down for about 2 minutes.

After you pull them out of the water, put a pair of heavy white socks on your feet, and put on your wet shoes. Just walk around in them for a bit until they dry, and the water will help mold the leather to the exact size and shape of your foot. Voila – a custom-fitted pair of shoes!

Freeze ’em

Freezing your shoes is another method to help stretch out painful areas of the shoes that are a bit too tight and pinching on your skin. All you need is a small Ziplock bag for each shoe you’re working to stretch. Fill each bag about 1/4 of the way with water.

Seal the bag, then stuff the water-filled end into the part of the shoe that you’re hoping to stretch. Then, throw the shoes in the freezer. Wait until all of the water in the bag is fully frozen, then pull the shoes out of the freezer. Let the ice thaw completely on a counter top or table while it’s still stuffed into the shoe.

Dry off the shoes (they should only be slightly wet, not soaking – if they’re soaking, your bag probably popped a hole at some point during the freezing process) with a paper towel. Then, try them on. Rumor has it this method can help you stretch a too-small pair of shoes by 1/2 or up to a full size!

Blow Dry ’em

One of the fastest methods for breaking in a new pair of shoes can be to take a hair dryer to them much like you would to your hair while it’s wet. Cover your feet with a few pairs of socks (as many as you can manage to stuff into the shoes themselves), then take your hair dryer to the spots of the shoes that are too tight.

While you’re blasting the heat at the sore spots, wiggle your feet around as much as you can. Use the heat long enough to heat the actual material of the shoe, then turn the hair dryer off. Walk around in the shoes while they cool if you can manage the pain (the socks should help ease it a bit).

Again, wearing them as they cool can help mold the material to fit the exact size and shape of your foot for a much more custom fit that won’t hurt your footsies!

Feed ’em Some Starch

Believe it or not, potatoes can be a great tool to help you in stretching out your shoes quickly and efficiently. Peel a potato, stuff it into your shoe where you’re hoping to stretch it out, leave it overnight, then remove in the morning!

There’s something about the wetness and the starch in a peeled potato that, when absorbed into the material of your new shoes, can help it stretch out gradually. Then, with the size of the potato in the shoes, the material stretches to accommodate the bulk.

Surprisingly enough, banana peels are rumored to work in a similar way, so don’t be afraid to just stuff some food in the parts of your shoes that are too tight! It sounds a little weird, but if it works, it’s worth a try, right?

In the United States, heart disease is the leading cause of death, and heart attack is the first sign that something is wrong for many people. There’s no doubt that heart attack risk can be dramatically reduced by taking the right steps, and this is true even for people with a family history of heart attack. Below are six ways you can avoid having a heart attack.

1. Get plenty of exercise

Exercise benefits the heart in several ways. The heart and lungs are both strengthened by exercise, and the heart is also stressed less when excess weight and mental tension are lost through regular physical activity. High blood sugar, a risk factor for heart disease, can be controlled through exercise, especially strength training. Researchers are now also finding that moderate exercise, such as walking, is just as beneficial for heart health as more intense physical activity.

2. Take lots of antioxidants

Heart disease involves oxidation in the blood vessels, and this issue can be reduced by antioxidants found in food and supplements. High-dose vitamin C supplements can reduce markers of inflammation by a quarter, making a big difference for arterial health. All sorts of foods, including blueberries, apples and peanut butter, are rich in heart-healthy antioxidants. Coffee is another super-rich antioxidant source.

3. Sleep the right amount for you

Many people go without sleep on a regular basis to meet the demands of their jobs and families. Most people need between six and nine hours of sleep per night, and either less or more is associated with a higher risk of heart attack. Severe sleep deprivation can trigger fatal heart arrhythmias in susceptible individuals, and sleeping too long at night can be a sign of sleep apnea, a major cause of heart attack.

4. Drink alcohol moderately

Regularly imbibing smaller amounts of alcohol has been shown to be good for heart health in multiple ways, including keeping blood vessels clean and reducing stress. Red wine also contains high levels of resveratrol, an antioxidant proven to benefit the heart. However, high levels of alcohol consumption can worsen heart health by dehydrating the body, leaching minerals from the blood and weakening the heart muscle. Regular drinkers should keep their consumption below the recommended limits for men and women of two drinks and one drink per day, respectively.

5. Avoid drugs that can cause heart attack

Several types of prescription medications have been shown to raise heart attack risk, including gastrointestinal drugs, antibiotics, blood thinners and antipsychotics. For example, the antibiotic azithromycin can cause fatal heart rhythms in patients taking it. Meanwhile, the blood thinner Pradaxa has been shown to increase patients’ risk of heart attack by a third. Although some doctors say that Pradaxa heart attack risks shouldn’t cause patients to avoid it, there are often safer alternatives to Pradaxa and other drugs that patients can ask their doctors about.

6. Consume plenty of fiber

People who eat the recommended amount of fiber each day have inflammation markers 40 percent lower than their counterparts who eat little fiber. The substance can reduce heart attack risk in numerous ways, including lowering insulin, blood pressure and bad cholesterol. Fiber may also have heart benefits that are yet undiscovered. Those who begin eating plenty of fiber early in life reap the greatest benefits, but all can benefit from eating more whole grains, vegetables and fruits on a daily basis.

As everybody knows, the economic climate is making it very tough to find a job. This is especially true for those who are leaving education and attempting to embark on a career without any sort of work experience to fall back on, as many employers are likely to prefer those with a little more practical knowledge. If you know somebody whoâ€s just about to embark upon the next stage of their life and enter the workforce, read on to find a gift idea that will suit them.

For Guys – A Good Tie

This is an item which is absolutely essential for anybody who is staring down the barrel of a dozen interviews, and one which many graduates could conceivably lack. Unless their college or family is in the habit of holding formal events, many young men will not have a decent tie to call their own, instead relying on whatever tired-looking rag that their Dad would trust them with. Try to get something which is silk and will go well with shirts of various colors. Bonus points if you also teach them to tie a half-Windsor knot!

A Cookbook

Chances are that your graduate went straight to college from home, where most (if not all) of their meals were prepared by Mom and Dad. Many students take advantage of meal plans offered by their schoolâ€s cafeteria, and if not, they probably order a whole lot of pizza. A decent cookbook can provide hundreds of recipes to suit virtually every taste and budget. A great example is How to Cook Everything, by Mark Bittman. This very popular publication boasts instruction on 2000 meals – that should be enough for anybody to survive on!

An E-Reader

Anybody whoâ€s ever been to college knows that thereâ€s a whole lot of reading involved. So much so that a recent graduate can be put off the activity for a quite a while after they receive their diploma! Make sure that they have one fewer excuse to rot their brain in front of the TV with this gift idea. E-readers are now available for well under $100 and enable the user to store many books without having to lug around a load of paperbacks wherever they go. You could also give them a gift card that will allow them to make their first online literary purchase.

A Blu-Ray Player

When your graduate moves into their first post-college apartment and gets a job, itâ€s pretty likely that theyâ€ll be keen to move past the student phase of their life. With a 9am start each day, they wonâ€t be hitting the bars and hosting house parties anywhere near as often, and will have to adjust to a quieter lifestyle. Unfortunately, their starting salary probably wonâ€t fund all the things that they could use to entertain themselves, so why not help out by picking up a Blu-Ray player? This should help keep them distracted on a boring Wednesday night.

Skin care should be an important part of everyoneâ€s daily hygiene. Taking good care of you skin will make you feel good all over.

Exfoliating

Exfoliating is a step that, when washing, should not be skipped. It helps remove dead skin cells and roughened areas. It will reduce build up and dryness. Buildup can lead to the trapping of dirt and oil, under the layers of dead skin cells. Dryness can cause itching, splitting, and cracking. Scratching, because of these symptoms, can lead to bleeding and infections. Exfoliating will also help to even out your skin tone.

Exfoliating Soap

Choosing a good soap with which to exfoliate your skin is just as important. And, choosing a handmade exfoliating soap is a great choice. Choosing a company that uses all natural ingredients is even better. These companies use natural exfoliants, such as ground vanilla bean, oatmeal, ground luffa, and blueberry seeds. When combined with skin softening oils and other ingredients, they make a great bar of soap.

Choose From Many Different Flavors and Fragrances

These handmade exfoliating soaps come in a variety of combinations, as everyone has different scents that appeal to them. Some people may enjoy milk and honey, where others may prefer pomegranate and mango. Still others prefer citrus, and others canâ€t get enough of apples or vanilla. Whatever your preference, you can find a great soap you can enjoy using. Donâ€t underestimate the power of smell. Smelling something like can lighten your mood, bring back a memory, and generally put you in good spirits. How better else to start or end your day?

Nightly Cleansing

Even if you bathe or shower in the morning, it is a good idea to wash your face at night. Removing the dirt, toxins, oils, and makeup from the day will help your skin stay clearer and healthier. This goes for men and women, both. And it is always good to use lukewarm water. Hot or cold water can cause you to have broken capillaries.

Conclusion

Understanding how important it is to exfoliate is something many of us overlook. If we could just make a conscious effort to do this more often, our skin would look healthier, shine clearer, and feel better. Choosing and purchasing a good bar of handmade exfoliating soap from a company that uses natural ingredients is smart, and can be found easily online.
