To tell you my story, last year my brother gifted me a DSLR camera on my birthday, and I was very desperate to use this beautiful equipment in a substantive way. Though I had a basic knowledge of using normal point-and-shoot digital camera, but to operate a professional-looking DSLR camera was a big challenge for me. As I studied the Book and video tutorials, I was surprised by the fact that how Trick Photography and Special Effects Book made the whole photography concept crystal clear in my mind. Nevertheless, I am happy to say that this Book made everything easy and simple for me.

The author of the book Evan Sharboneau is very true when he says:

It’s the image that matters, not the brand of a camera it was taken with.

I would also like to state that Evan has created this Book to share some of the tricks he has learned over the years so that readers can inspire to create artistic images on their own.

This Book is structured in a way that while beginners can gain step-by-step knowledge about useful technical terms and various aspects of cameras and photography in general, experienced photographers can skip those sections and jump directly to the actual ideas and tricks to replicate them. Readers can also take a clue from the video tutorials.

Best Photo Editing Tutorial: Learn Photo Editing Review

Photo Manipulation Tutorial

One of my reader George, from California, US emailed me last week asking how important is photo editing? He asked me the question concerning the trick photography and special effects course by Evan Sharboneau that he subscribed.

To answer the query, I would like to state that for a photo enthusiast who is taking photography as a hobby and who is not actually a professional, Photo Editing is not essential. Though, it’s good if such people learn photo editing to enhance their photo processing ability. However, for professional whose bread and butter rely on the quality of photos and images; photo editing is absolutely necessary.

Having said that, I would like to introduce one of the best Photo Editing Tutorial namely “Learn Photo Editing,” that I recently found during my research. This study material is actually an in-depth Photoshop tutorial, which is designed by an ace graphic artist, photo editor, colorist and photographer who teach step by step how to create professional-looking photos and images using various photo-editing tricks.

Click here to see for yourself photo-editing skills you can learn from it.

Content of the course

Photo Tone Mapping and Retouching

  • Create Studio Quality Photos Using Cheap Light Objects
  • Combining Raw Photos with Advance Tone Mapping and Colour Grading
  • Method of Creating an Alien with Photo Manipulation
  • Turning Photos into Magazine Covers
  • Extreme Colour Grading Techniques
  • Retouching Portraits
  • Creating Vintage Photos
  • Designing Post-Apocalyptic Scene
  • Combination of HDR Photography and Colour Grading
  • Colour Grading for Wedding Photography

I have found the Burger and Ice-cream tutorials mind boggling. Photo Manipulation technique has become my favorite.

The USP of the course is that the author provides his raw pictures to work upon, and leads the student step by step in creating final output as shown in his study material itself.

If you are a professional photographer or a graphic designer or a photo enthusiast, this course is for you. By pursuing this short course, you can improve your image-editing skills, create stunning photo manipulations, colour grading and correction techniques.

I can say that a good-quality DSLR camera produces an image that one can be proud of. However, it’s also a fact that an expensive camera or lens is not everything. An event captured through two different branded cameras would provide apparently same kind of an image. You cannot judge the difference from your naked eyes. However, if you post-process one of the images using advance photo-editing techniques and present the output, then anybody shall identify the huge difference in those two images. Most of the photographs that you see in newspapers, magazines and other media are mostly edited. Thus, nowadays, photo edition and manipulation become a key part of photography.

Some photo enthusiasts do a mistake of keep investing in new and advanced cameras, hoping that they will dramatically improve their quality of images. They fail to understand that it’s the image that matters, not the brand of a camera it was taken with. Final output depends upon the tricks and techniques you apply while taking the picture and to some extent, photo editing.

Hence, in my opinion, if you are passionate about photography, then you should subscribe to one of the best photography editing tutorials.

As I have recommended Evan Sharboneau’s Trick Photography and Special Effects Book, similarly I think for this course immensely help in mastering various advanced photo-editing skills. It will boost the photography tricks and techniques you have already learned.

The cost of this course is actually the price of a meal in the restaurant, which is just $27. You keep the material for life time and can refer at your leisure.

Welcome again. I am sure that you must have read my Trick Photography Book Review.

Click Here to Download this e-book Now.

However, here I am going to throw some light on the actual lessons and digital photography tips offered in the second module of the book. The idea behind this post is to let you know precisely which photography methods this guide and video tutorials would teach you.

As I have previously mentioned, 2nd edition of the Trick Photography and Special Effects Book by Evan Shaboneau is in PDF format. It’s not only an outstanding guide for beginners, but a valuable source of information for professionals too. Evan has literally demonstrated all sorts of basics in much detail. He has made it so simple, that even a layman can take mind-twisting images and can make family, and friends bolt from the blue.

There are a number of photography tips for beginners that have been introduced in this segment. Below are a few typical tricks that you can discover:

image you can click without using photoshop

  • Forced Perspective
  • Levitation Photography
  • The Invisible Man
  • Monitor Droste
  • Shadow Heart
  • Rotating Perspective
  • Unscrewed Light Bulb
  • Upside-Down Reflections
  • Reflections in Animal Eye
  • Transparent Computer Screen

As far as I am concerned, Forced Perspective is my favorite. It seemed to me the simplest trick to begin with. With this technique, you can create optical illusion of people and objects appearing to be larger or smaller than what they actually are. This is a classic technique where in a picture, it appears like you are holding someone on your hand, crushing a huge object under your foot, grabbing a mountain peak or a tall tower. You can even play with clouds. If you are fond of traveling and more often visit ancient monuments, then this in-camera illusions trick, done without any software could be very attention-grabbing.

Below are some of the methods that could be suitable for experts:

trick-photography-book-multiplicitiy-360-stereographic

  • Double Exposure
  • Infrared Photos
  • Bubble Macro Photography
  • 360×180 Planet Panoramas
  • High Speed Flash Photography
  • 3D Stereoscopic Photography

Professionals can try hand and master Bubble Macro Photography. Bokeh, The Orten Effect and Double Exposure tricks are also awesome, where Evan has taught how to combine two images.

Exciting High Speed Flash Photography technique is also there, where you can take crystal clear high-speed photos using flashes. You will be able to take photos of food blowing up, water splashing, and glass shattering. Well-liked Vegetable splashing trick is also given with video tutorial so that anyone can imitate it. Evan shares flash and food photography tips with required tools, and various camera settings to take this kind of high speed flash photos.

Chapter on how to take Infrared Photos is astonishing. Secrets reveled in this portion makes the subject matter so easy that I am sure you would fall in love with this e-book.

For skilled photographers, tutorial about 3D Stereoscopic Photography is mentioned. This shows how to create 3D photos and view them using 3D Glasses, Cross-Eye. Another interesting technique for skilled guys is HDR Photography, which allows to make the highlights and shadows more visible in a picture.

For serious ones, 360×180 Planet Panoramas trick is discussed, and video tutorials are given. Tutorial for this trick will introduce step-by-step methods to take a handheld panorama and stitch it together using a free software program called Hugin.

I have highlighted a few here, but there are lots of other unique stuffs. Some topics are easy, and some are tough. Hence, one can start with simplest and later can try advance methods. As we all know practice makes man perfect and with this eBook, learning digital photography would be a kind of catwalk.

Are you looking for Light Painting Photography Tutorial?

with 3 comments

I once again welcome you to my web page.

If you are looking for Light Painting Photography Tutorial, then this is the right place to get informed.

I have created this topical website to share information about a unique online product called Trick Photography and Special Effects Book by Evan Sharboneau. This book contains a detailed chapter on the topic of Light Painting Photography.

Click here to get this book right away or to have some more detail.

Here you will be able to read my honest Trick Photography Book Review.

This post is basically to talk about a very interesting technique called Light Painting Photography or Light Drawing, which is discussed in detail in the above-mentioned Book. Whole section is dedicated to the topics of Light Painting Photography, Light Painting tools, Light Painting techniques, and Light Painting ideas.

Being a newbie, I found this section as a formal Light Painting Photography Tutorial, which is in the form of an e-book and also have several videos. In these videos, the author of the book Evan has demonstrated these techniques. He makes the whole journey so easy that a learner starts enjoying imitating his methods.

Light Painting Photography : Squiggels using battery operated LED Christmas lights

Light Painting Photography : Squiggles using battery operated LED Christmas lights

It taught me how to use various light painting tools or objects to capture tricky pictures. Light painting is a photography trick where you shine your flashlight on to your subject. It talks about what is long exposure, flashlights, colour temperature, basic camera settings, and how to focus lens in the dark. For Professionals, the author has also listed tools and equipment along with their Amazon links, so that they can easily access quality products.

Light Painting Tools: Detail description of different easy to use light painting tools is just awesome. Some of the tools are:

  • Flashlights
  • LEDs
  • Colourful Light Sticks
  • Glow Sticks
  • Flesh Gels
  • Flash Stencils
  • Cathodes, etc.

He also inspires to try new things, which actually led me to take pictures using a flashlight of my smart phone Samsung Galaxy Note and even headlight of my Honda City Car. My family members and friends were amazed seeing my photography skills, and they asked me to reveal the secret, which I didn’t!! Book also discusses advance equipment like Pop-Up Flashes and Off-Camera Flashes, Wireless Triggering and ND filters, that are of great use for professionals.

Light Painting Techniques: Artistic light drawing is very much dependent on camera settings. The way Evan has taught the basics of shutter speed mechanism, I am amazed. I got to know that usually shutter speed is a fraction of a second, but we can create artistic images by taking long exposure pictures. It basically means taking photographs in longer time frames that last from 30 seconds to several minutes. Just imagine of taking pictures where an event continues to take place for a large amount of time, and you capture each moment in your camera!

Light Painting Technique : Illuminated landscape with flashlight

Light Painting Technique : Illuminated landscape with flashlight

Light photography trick of creating spirals using light-headed source and a string is very entertaining. It also shows how to use different types of laser pens for drawing shapes, letters, and textures onto surfaces. Another interesting technique I found is to create thousands of sparks spinning off into the air by using steel wool and a few other simple tools. Techniques using laser pens and fiber optics are also astounding. Tricks of making squiggles and different shaped orbs using battery operated LED Christmas lights are such that even dummies can try it. Specific details are given about Solargraphy, which is basically to take Star Trail Photos and other fun long exposures using ND filters.

Light Painting Ideas: Apart from technical aspects, book also shares amazing light painting ideas. Idea of capturing Physiograms using a string tied to the end of a flashlight, and later using Photoshop to fine-tune the image is just fantastic. Among other crazy ideas, I must mention the trick of illuminating things using larger flash lights.

Light Painting Ideas : Blurring watefalls

Light Painting Ideas : Blurring watefalls

Light painting ideas that I liked most are capturing lightening moments in rainy season, at beaches, waterfalls and then blurring them.

Fire Dancing trick is also mentioned, but I must admit that newbies need not to try it out because playing with fire without proper technical guidance and experience can be dangerous. However, dummies can try firework sparkler in motion. A special article and video tutorial has been created to teach this concept.

Details about apps for the iPhone, iPhone Touch, iPad and Android are also given, which are designed for 3D Light Painting.

Other Light Painting Techniques and ideas included are Inverting, Camera Tossing and Abstracts Lights on wheels and hoops, Reflections and mirroring, Writing text, Combining different lights, Domes, Blending multiple exposures, Light Stitching, etc.

The History

During the 20th century, the use of trick photography has started and was used to be done in toning some cyanotype. This is possible as they had eventually changed the color of the iron in the printed product, but in 1856, tricks and techniques of photography has been used to create some amazing optical illusions and some great effects. It was done by Oscar Rejlander who was a Swedish photographer. He had joined different sections of a total of 30 negatives and produces just one image out of it. This image was called to be the “The Two Ways of life.”

A few years later, in 1895, the first ever special effect that was done in motion pictures was possibly made by Alfred Clark. While the filming for the reenactment of the Queen of Scots is ongoing, he had asked one of the actors to go up in a block and the camera that he was using suddenly stopped just by the time when the executioner holds the axe above his head. And that was the first time that trick has become useful in direct filming.

Just the following year, in 1896, a French magician named Georges Mêliés had accidentally discovered the trick that was done by Alfred Clark when suddenly his camera was jammed while he is filming in some streets and area in Paris. When he tried to check out the film, he was surprised to see that the scenario was totally changed as the truck had become a hearse, the pedestrians had changed its directions and the men had become women. Due to that, Mêliés created almost 500 short films and try to create more tricks and techniques about different dissolves and exposures and as well as the time lapse photography. And just like that, Georges Mêliés was dubbed by many as the “Cinemagician.” Click here to see 5 People doing time-lapse photography right.

How To Choose A DSLR Camera?

without comments

Photography Master Class

Hello, welcome to my blog.

Today, I am going to throw some light on the basic things that one should keep in mind while making buying decision of a new DSLR (Digital Signal-lens reflex) camera.

I am sure; you must have purchased the Trick Photography and Special Effects e-book by Evan Sharboneau. If you haven’t, I recommend you to buy it now.

Click here to go to the official page of Evan’s e-book guide.

Evan has described in detail about the usage of DSLR camera while performing various mind-boggling photography tricks. If you already own a DSLR camera, then I am sure, until now, you must have mastered a couple of tricks. However, if you are planning to buy one, then following is a quick guide for you about how to choose a DSLR Camera.

First of all, if you are buying the DSLR camera from a nearby camera store, then always chose a reputed one. If possible get someone’s reference, so that when ever something goes wrong, you can avail services with ease. If you are buying it online, then land on a vendor’s website like Amazon or with same reputation. Buying expensive stuffs like a camera from an unknown web destination would sometime become a worst experience, when we need after-sales service, and its tough to communicate through emails.

Always go for a branded product. As far as DSLR cameras are concerned, both Canon and Nikon are good choices. You can buy any of them, both are quality products. Only thing that matter is your preferred features in the instrument, and the purpose for which you are buying it.

You should take care of a few aspects while choosing a desired product. Some of them are as follows:

  • Size of the camera: If you are going to take pictures holding the instrument in your hands, then any normal size camera would be good enough. However, if you are going to use it by placing it on a tripod, then you have a wider option to choose from.
  • Mega pixels of the camera: If you want a large picture output, then you can go for more than 10 pixel cameras. Otherwise, around 8 pixels is more than sufficient.
  • Additional Lens, Flash Guns and Filters: Normally, a DSLR camera comes with inbuilt lens, flash guns. For normal usage, you don’t need such extra items. However, if you are a professional or a photo enthusiast and want to explore various tricks and techniques of photography with your new DSLR camera, then you can opt in for additional lenses, flash guns and filters. There are tons of varieties available as per your requirement. You need different types of lens, flash lights and filters according to your need. They can help you in taking long and close-up shots, indoor and out door photography, specialize studio photography, etc.
  • Accessories: Don’t forget to get some basic accessories with your camera. If some of them are not offered along with your specific choice of product, then you can always purchase it separately. Some of the most important items are Neck Strap, Camera Bag, Dust Blower, Tripod, Spare Battery, Lens Cleaning Cloth, etc.

Trick Photography Book has a section where the author has mentioned in details the usage of all inbuilt and additional equipment.

Best Entry Level DSLR Camera

If you ask me which is the best DSLR camera for beginners, then I from both of the premium companies Nikon and Canon, I would suggest following best entry level DSLR cameras:

Canon EOS Rebel T4i (with 18-135mm STM lens)

How To Peruse Trick Photography And Special Effects Course

download trick photography and special effects book

Photography that creates an illusion is basically defined as trick photography. The trick photography definition on Wikipedia narrates it as the illusion or tricks of the eye used to simulate the imagined events, which is traditionally divided into optical effects and mechanical effects. However, the emergence of digital photography tools has uniquely distinct and has associated it with modern equipment like DSLR cameras. This is the very subject of trick photography that has been discussed at length in this blog, just to provide beginners relative information at one go.

There are many resources available online on this subject in the form of write ups, blogs from renowned photo experts, and various magazines, which get published on a weekly, fortnightly and monthly basis.

However, sometimes it’s become very puzzling for beginners and professional as well, where to start. They keep searching here and there for the right kind of the information. I had same experience when I was once looking for a course that can help me to use my newly bought DSLR camera. Taking a picture pressing the button is simple. Any layman can do it on any camera. Be it a point-and-shoot digital camera or advanced DSLR camera.

Nevertheless, acquiring fundamental knowledge of any tool and to be able to use it at its optimum capacity is desirable. Not only, it gives a sense of satisfaction, but also gives good results, and in this case mind-twisting images.

So, I did look for some days, and suddenly I stumble upon this only one of its kind online photography e-book and video course Trick Photography and Special Effects created by Evan Shaboneau.

I would emphasize that while a newbie goes through the Book, he might feel that tricks, ideas and methods discussed are a bit tough, but that’s not the case. As the reader goes through video tutorials, he finds that whatever is taught in the Book is relatively very easy to implement.

You can read my trick photography book review in another post. However, here I am just going to state briefly, how to pursue this study material in bit and pieces. Lessons are in the form of an e-book and several HD videos, that are separated into four sections:

Photography Master Class

  1. Preliminaries
  2. Long Exposure and Light Painting
  3. Trick Photography and Special Effects
  4. Photoshop projects
  • I have gone through the course in detail, and could recommend that whether you are a novice or even a photo proficient, you must go through the preliminaries section first. Study of this part of the material would enable you to identify with basic technicalities of photography and various settings in DSLR cameras. For a newbie, it would be spanking-new information to consume, and for professionals, it would be a kind of a revision.
  • The second part of the course if Long Exposure Effects and Light Paintings. However, I would advise to skip this section for a while, and study the third part of the course which is Trick Photography and Special Effects. The reason I am suggesting to go over this material first is that I found trick photography ideas shared within this section simple, easy and interesting. Some of these tricks can be implemented with a normal point-and-shoot digital cameras, and also without any help of prospects or software.
  • Once you start using some of these techniques taught in the tutorial, you can then try Light Painting methods, which are a bit time-consuming and literary in nature, but very novel. You can afterwards learn about image editing software Adobe Photoshop in the fourth section.

learn mind-twisting tricks from evan

Apart from this little tip of when and where to start, I would also imply that the author of the book Evan has demonstrated himself step by step all major photography ideas in special video series. He has given links of each video within the theory text itself. So, when ever you read about a trick, just visit the relevant video instantly and watch it. That would make the whole subject very easy to understand and put into practice.

This e-book contains web links to useful contents of notable photo experts like Brent Pearson, Walter Woodbury, Scott Kelby, Webster Watts, Andrew Davidhazy. It also has a collection of exclusive trick photos of various photo gurus. One can inspire watching the talent of such photographers. Serious learners who want to make a career in photography may find this links as a gateway to the useful resources.

In the Book, Evan recommends cameras, lenses, UV filters, Tripods and their clickable links are also provided for ready reference so that readers can have a look of the exact equipment discussed by the author.
