By the time I was able to go and see the building they had already been moving things into it. Awesome! But I want you to notice some of the construction details here in this photo as they are common to most of the buildings that Pro Shed builds but they are just a bit different starting at the floor in our garages.

The floor joists in the garages are 12″ on center with 3/4″ plywood flooring. The storage sheds and camping cabin floor joists are 16″ on center with 5/8′s inch plywood, not OSB except on our new economy models. With the garages there is a double 2×4″ bottom plate to distribute the weight of the walls. The 2×4″ wall studs are 16″ on center and notice that the roof rafters are also 16″ on center as opposed to 24″ on most roof constructions. This distributes the weight right down on the load bearing wall studs to the floor making for a nice solid long lasting structure.

With Log or Board & Batten Siding Pro Shed first installs plywood to the walls then they install the siding over the top of the plywood and this gives you a nice sealed and weather proof structure. Listen not only is Pro Shed pricing their sheds, garages, horse barns and camping cabins reasonably they are also interested in building you a top quality product and it shows in all the little details in their buildings.

This was a custom order Backwoods where the customer will be doing a lot of work themselves like installing their own windows. Here are some photos showing their Backwoods being delivered and set into place.

Check out our new porch design that now has 2×6 deck boards as opposed to the previous 1×10 boards. And the thresh hold is higher now too so that any moisture on the deck won’t enter the cabin as easily like snow when it melts. ProShed just keeps improving things all the time.

This is a 12 x 30 Backwoods cabin with the basic T-111 siding. The structure is 12 x 26 plus the 6′ porch. They added a window in the front door, log supports on the deck, an 8×12 loft in the back and this unit ran about $8400 plus tax and delivery. You can also get this with Board and Batt or Log Siding and of course customize it many ways. But using the T-111 siding is a very affordable solution and it allows you to get a larger camping cabin with more space for less money, especially if you want to do some of the work yourself.

Just remember in Las Animas County you need to have 600 square feet minimum on a permanent foundation in order to install plumbing like baths and kitchens. These camping cabins are permitted at Agricultural outbuildings and since they are portable they can’t have plumbing in them legally. But you can could enjoy your property and have a cozy place to sleep and eat for short periods of time when you come to your Colorado Property.

And to give you an idea about this particular Camping Cabin’s cost and how it was priced let me give you a run down. This will help you understand better how custom they can be for you.

The customer ordered a 12 x 20 Cabin so the pricing started with a 12 x 20 Ranch Style that is listed at $6190.00 with Board and Batt siding. An 8 foot deep loft was added in the back for storage or sleeping. The sidewall height is 8 feet and with the 12 foot width it gives you a really nice roof pitch but space in the loft is limited with the ranch style roof. If you needed more head room you could choose the Dutch Barn style roof.

We added a 4 foot front porch and instead of the standard door he wanted to bring in the views so he ordered a full glass door. We had it open in so that a screen door could be added later if someone wants one.

Then on either side of the door we added a 3 x 5 window and on the side walls we also added the same sized windows to each sidewall. Over the door we installed two special ordered trapezoid windows.

And in the back of the Camping Cabin above the loft we put a small window for light and air as well as a 3 x 3 window below the loft. These wonderful windows really make it nice inside bringing in a lot of wonderful bright light and fresh air when it is needed. All the windows that open have screens.

The board and batt siding really gives it a wonderful look and feel, and it was sprayed with a nice cedar stain before it left the factory. We also chose the Earth Brown colored metal roof from our choice of colors.

The final price for this Cabin was $12,000 plus sales tax of $348.00 and delivery charge of $185.00 for a total of $12,533.00. There was an additional charge for the Pilot Cars of $122.00. And in Las Animas County a portable structure like this is permitted as a agricultural shed and for this size it is required to be secured in all four corners. The permit cost just less than $100.00 and the customer is responsible for getting their permit from the County.

Securing the four corners was pretty interesting in this case as the site had a lot of rock. We hired someone to come with a rented jack hammer to break out the rock and install tie downs. This cost about $600 dollars for materials and labor and this is something that someone handy could do themselves to save some money.

We also had to do some site clearing to remove some trees in order to have enough room to deliver the cabin and because the Developer had equipment doing work on the ranch anyway that only cost about $300 dollars.

I should also mention that this shed had the floor insulated but the inside walls were left unfinished and un-insulated. But just so you know Pro-Shed could either install plywood or tongue and groove paneling after insulating the inside. We can also get electrical work done by a licensed electrician if you wanted it pre-wired. So keep in mind that these Sheds, Camping Cabins and Horse Barns are built to your specifications and needs so just let us know what you need.

So this quality built Camping Cabin cost approximately $13,655 delivered. And it will make someone a wonderful place to come and enjoy their mountian property until they are able to build. Keep in mind also that in Las Animas County you have to have at least 600 square feet to be able to put in a bathroom and kitchen so small cabins like this are just for storage and occasional camping only.

Trinidad Pro Shed

Many of our customers are from out of state and when the purchased their property they wanted a way to enjoy their property without camping in a tent or having to haul a travel trailer back and forth.

In Las Animas County you have to build at least 600 square feet in order to have plumbing and electrical in a cabin but a camping cabin is basically permitted as a agricultural shed. It just happens to have a nice door and windows and maybe a porch and loft.
