“If we confess our sins, he who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

This verse is important to me because it tells me that God’s forgiveness in Jesus is made real for me through my confessing my sins to Him. While we admit our sins we should also turn and refrain from doing them again. If God were neither faithful nor just we would receive His present and eternal punishment that we so rightly deserve; yet, since God is faithful and just we are forgiven and can receive His present and eternal reward.

I know that I have a sinful past and an inevitable sinful future but I know that God is forgiving and through Him I am saved. This gives me great comfort in God for the wisdom of designing the world.

I would like to share this comfort in God, so that we can all live in the light even in the darkest of places. That is why I have chosen this verse; it tells us were the light is. It is in Jesus Christ. This we must realize because it is vitally important in the path that we take.
This is what I believe. I believe in the light and the forgiveness of sins for eternal salvation and that we are forgiven through confession and absolution and that the Holy Spirit saves us. This is what I believe.

TYLER STREETMAN -- Confirmation Essay

The verse I chose is PSALM 46:1, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble.”

I chose this verse because it tells me that whenever I’m in trouble or need help God is with me. God is watching over me everywhere I go. This verse has a special meaning to me because I know that God is protecting me all the time and especially when I am in trouble or need help. For example, when I was little I was playing in a river and if nobody was there watching me, I would have drowned. I was sliding down some rocks and I fell in a hole and the currents were pushing me under water and I couldn’t get out. God made sure that my dad was watching me so he could help me.

This verse reminds me of God’s love, joy, and forgiveness in Jesus Christ. It reminds me of God’s love because if He didn’t love us He wouldn’t help and protect us. It reminds me of forgiveness because He forgives us when we repent, but it is good to know that He watches over us even when we have not repented. This verse reminds me of joy because it makes me joyful when I know that God is always watching over me.

I was looking in the Bible and there were some notes at the bottom of the page about PSALM 46. They said that Martin Luther must have been inspired when he read that chapter because he wrote the hymn, “A Mighty Fortress is Our God,” and based it on that chapter.
This is my favorite verse because I know that God is always watching over me as my Protector.

AUTUMN TRIPLETT -- Confirmation Essay

“I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand upon the earth.” That would be JOB 19:25 and it would also be the verse I chose to write my confirmation essay on. There were many verses to choose from, I had heard a lot of them before and some had special meaning. This one kind of jumped out at me in a way, though. I was reading through them and this one just…made sense. I don’t actually know how to explain it. Just that reading it I had this sense of understanding that I didn’t have with the other verses. It’s self-explanatory, but there’s so much to be said about it. It’s saying that no matter if we believe or forget and get caught up in our lives, God is still there, He still lives, and one day He will come to rule the earth again and you won’t be forgotten in the same way that you’ve forgotten Him. It shows how much God has been through for us, but that we don’t really appreciate it as much as we should. It’s this ongoing love that He has for us that shows us that however much wrong we do Him, He still loves us and that love will continue shining through until the day when He returns to earth and claims us as His. It’s saying if you believe in God no matter how many slip-ups you make and do the wrong thing, as long as you have faith and truly believe, God can and will forgive you. That’s His everlasting love and grace showing through. It’s special to me because it makes me think. It makes me feel secure with myself, knowing that I can mess up and will be forgiven. Knowing that I can make mistakes and can still have everlasting life. It’s thought-provoking. The verse really makes you thankful, but it makes you realize that everyone is a sinner. That no matter what people think, God is the highest power. Higher than any humans. More perfect than anything and when He returns He’ll prove it.

STEPHANIE LAMBERT -- Confirmation Essay

PSALM 46:1 “God is my refuge and strength and ever present help in trouble.”

I choose this verse because it shows me that God is all around us and that He shields me from all danger and helps me when I need Him. This verse cheers me up when I look at it. I am reminded that no matter what happens God will still love, care and protect me. JOHN 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave us his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life,” shows us that God loves us so much that not only did He send down His only son, Jesus Christ, to die for all our sins, but also that He protects us from everything that will try to harm us. He gives us strength when we feel weak. He forgives me and tucks me in His loving and supporting arms. I look at this verse whenever I am feeling down and lonely and I feel comforted. I am reminded that God is there to help me, that He protects me and He is there to be a shoulder to lean on when I think I cannot go on by myself. That He is there for me forever no matter what happens or what I have done and will always be. People can not face this world alone. Everybody needs somebody and God reminds us, through this verse that He can and will help us through difficult problems that may be in our path. He does this because He loves us and wants to protect us from being taken over by evil and our own sinful nature.

CLAY GARRETT -- Confirmation Essay

For my bible verse selection I have chosen Romans 16:20 which says: “And God our source of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.” I chose this verse because it reassures me that God’s watching over me and is keeping me safe and ready to stop Satan and bring peace. I am reassured that God is watching over me and that my life is safe with Him. This really speaks to me, like a Father watching his son and intervening when there is trouble. He protects and brings joy. This bible verse says to me that God loves us so much He’d destroy the evils of this world, Satan, death, and even Hell. God is all powerful; He can bring and destroy something just like that. This scripture tells me that He loves us so much that He’d cure the plague that is Satan and gives us peace for a happy, blessed life with Him in heaven. God’s love is so wonderful He can do these great things, He promises and fulfils them and will even grant us true peace and happiness.

Romans 16:20 reminds me of God’s love to me like this: it just screams love! He is doing these awesome things that are impossible to comprehend by us as humans, no matter how much we try. To crush Satan is to help remove sins and is a pretty big statement that God would do a lot of things to forgive us our sins. Satan doesn’t just generate sin, it is in our nature but he doesn’t help either. To stop him is a step in the right direction. God forgives us our sins. By our faith of believing in Him and praying for forgiveness we are on God’s side. God will put an end to Satan and this will literally be the last days of earth. This brings me joy to know our God is good. He does great and mighty things for us, His children. This feeling is spectacular, too impressive to describe. He brings us this good news and we rejoice. He goes beyond all bounds.
