Willy Mason at the Cat's Cradle March 10th!

We have been crossing paths with Willy Mason for about a decade now. From playing music with him in empty houses to watching his incredible shows at the Fillmore, the Independent and other venues in San Francisco. If you have never seen Willy perform please do so! His songs are lyrically masterful. He has been coined the next Bob Dylan by some, but of course he has a style very much his own. Check out his newest track, which he is giving away as a free download! Willy has been touring the country from a very young age, traveling with bands such as Death Cab for Cutie, Ben Kweller and Radiohead. This Saturday, March 10th Willy is performing at the Cat's Cradle in Carrboro, NC. Please join us in supporting an incredible artist.

Choreographer of Radiohead's 'Lotus Flower'

I have been completely in love with the Radiohead music video 'Lotus Flower' for a while now. I love the song, I love the sparseness of the video, I love the movement.

Wayne McGregor, the choreographer for the 'Lotus Flower' video, presented his newest piece, 'Far' at the Duke University Bryan Center in Durham, NC. The dance performance blew my mind! It was one hour of jagged movements that were grotesque, intriguing and beautiful, paired with a musical canvas by Ben Frost that was both emotional and cerebral. Lucy Carter created a wall of lights that changed and moved, spun and combined projections, it was an incredible back drop.

The Al Jazeera documentary called the Dreamers features Viridiana Martinez who talks about shedding the fear, and standing strong. TripKnight at the Pinhook, Feb. 10th!

We are honored to perform at a dance party to benefit the NC Dream Team. Here is what the Dream Team is fighting for:
DREAM stands for the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors. The DREAM Act is a bill that would create a pathway to legal residence that currently does not exist for undocumented youth in the United States. When a minor is brought into the United States by their parents, their visa is attached to their parents’ visas until the age of eighteen. When undocumented youth who have grown up in the United States turn eighteen they are suddenly placed in a legal situation impossible to remedy on their own. Even joining the military requires legal residence.
The DREAM Act would create a legal pathway by registering undocumented youth with the federal government and allow them to legalize their status by going to college or joining the military. In order to be eligible, the youth would have to have clean criminal records. After completing two years of college or two years in the military, the young person would be eligible to apply for Legal Permanent Residence.
All proceeds benefit the NC Dream Team.

Cold Steel Renegade wins, and a New Black Rock City Allstars Music Video

For the third year in a row, Cold Steel Renegade has won the San Francisco Air Guitar Championship. The competition was tight, but Cold Steel came through with an excellent performance, we are so proud! He is now headed to Chicago for the National competition. Here is a clip of his winning performance.

The Black Rock City Allstars have released a new music video called 'The Beach'. The footage is from the Bounce Festival in Belden Town, CA. The festival is in a gorgeous location, right on the Feather river. Check out the video!

Bay to Breakers this year was a blast. It was the 100th year anniversary of the crazy race through San Francisco. It's incredible to imagine folks in 1911 running 7 miles across the city, I guess the feather boas, stilettos and nudity came later;) Here is a clip of our performance and some photos to document the morning. Thank you so much to everyone who came out and played, danced, supported and ran, what a beautiful morning in Golden Gate Park!

Please be sure to check out Matt Feldstein, a.k.a Cold Steel Renegade compete in the 2011 San Francisco Air Guitar Championship. He is the reigning two year SF Champ. The event is hilariously rock and roll and it is a joy to watch Cold Steel Renegade in his absolute element. Here is a clip of his appearance and performance on Chronicle Live the night before last years San Francisco air guitar championship.

Cold Steel will be competing the second night of the SF regional championships, on June 25th. The event is at the Independant in SF, here is a link to buy tickets.

We had the pleasure of performing at the How Wierd Street Faire in San Francisco on May 1st. The Black Rock City Allstars filmed an incredible music video at the event. Please check it out, this is amazing!

We had the pleasure of attending the Marketer's Ball at 1015 Folsom in San Francisco. The headlining acts were Too Short and Digital Underground. What a night! The Black Rock City Allstars opened the show and totally rocked it, the crowd had never experienced bass like that before! It was incredible to see Digital Underground working their magic, Humpty/ Shock G was on point. Too Short kept it dirty for all the players in the crowd. It was pure magic. We are so proud of our Black Rock family! Here is a clip of their incredible performance:

After the success of 'All In' with Dubba Jonny (over 800 k views of the video on youtube), Adisa was commissioned to write the theme song for a Norwegian music festival called 'Dyslexicon'.

We also had the pleasure of attending the 2011 Burning Man Convectional Caucus as volunteers for Lawyers for Burners.   It was an event created for regional organizers, a convention and showcase of all of the organizations that stem out of the Burning Man event. We answered questions about Lawyers for Burners and spoke with folks from Black Rock Solar, Burning Man Internet Radio, Katherine Chen, the author of Enabling Creative Chaos, and all of the incredible people who organize regional burning man events all over the world. It was a beautiful day at the Bently Reserve in San Francisco. We made sure to enjoy the heat wave out on the front steps with Michael Michael, one of the founding members of the Burning Man event. The day was inspiring to say the least. At 6pm the doors were opened to the greater Burning Man community and Larry Harvey spoke about the new change from a limited liability corporation (L.L.C) to a non-profit organization. He gave us all of the background events and interpersonal dramas leading up to this decision, as well as the process of making this change.

Here are a few photos of Michael Michael and some other moments from our day at the Convectional Caucus. It was such a wonderful reminder of the business opportunities when living on the fringe. This one event in the desert has inspired so many people to start acting on their dreams, and Burning Man itself is profitable, to say the least, and continuing to spread the love and inspiration across the globe. The business of partying, we LOVE it!

A few years ago we had a mini TripKnight voyage to Bamako, Mali with Vanessa, Lempe, Adisa and L. Cooper. We stayed with our good friend Marco Sotelino. While in Bamako we reconnected with an incredible drum maker named Moussa from Dakar, Senegal. We also met a wonderful artist named Tenin. After our trip, Marco and his wife Carmella formed a company called Universal Drum. Please support this incredible company and artists like Moussa and Tenin by visiting the site and checking out the drums, masks, jewelry, tapestries and music. Such a beautiful way to bring the essence of Africa into your daily life!
