Iguana,

I quick question - how are you deleting the caches on your Triton? Are you using the "Delete all caches" option, or are you clearing the whole memory on the unit? I ask, because I was having slow transfers after using the "Delete all caches" option, however, things went back to normal once I started clearing the memory again.

My 1500 isn't working right

I have a Triton 1500 with the latest firmware.
I'll be driving down the road and the GPS is 40m off the road this is common, same as in the boat, but GPS says I am on oceanfront lawn!!! I wish I knew how to calibrate this thing as it would appear it hasn't been. I have tried to reset, erase everything starting over with factory defaults.

I have been following the instruction manual to appoint my map of western Canada but the red "X" will not turn into a green tick mark!

The forum here is very informative but I am still finding this unit complicated.
Am I the only one experiencing these problems and if not how did you repair these idiosyncrasies ? Thanks in advance

Import/Export datdas from GIS software

If using ArcGIS or ArcView search for (Minnesota) DNR Garmin Extension. It will give you many more options to import/export data than Vantage Point.

The unfortunate truth is, you don't! The Triton won't do it. The advantage with having a better basemap along with your RMP maps is that they appear when you zoom to levels that your RMP maps don't show up. So what I do is I download MSN Hybrid Satemaps so that I have the Satellite imaging and the roads overlaid on top of them in my RMP maps.

Randy,

Yes, I use both AccuTerra and TOPO 3D maps as my basemap. Now, if they are small enough you can also copy them to the internal memory on the GPS, however, if they are to large you have to put them on the SD Card, however, they are still selectable and usable as basemaps.

would love to hear what you find out, I'm having the same problem.

it will come on for a few seconds and then turn off. it will stay on if connected but with brand new batteries... nothing.

kind of dissapointing, this is my first gps and so far,... not impressed.

Mine was a problem, it wouldn't boot at all. Just "Internal Error" every time I try to start my 400. Had to deleat two files that went corrupt. Others had to ride themselfs of these files also, so it is not a single problem.

Hello everyone, I am new to the forum, I own a PDA with ArcPad and would like to buy a Magellan Triton.
It's possible to use SDHC cards up to 32GB with TritonMod R4 on the Magellan 1500 or only on Magellan 2000?
Can I use custom programs such as ArcPad?
Is there any guide for personalization?

If you have your waypoints in Vantage Point you can export them as a .kml file and open that file in google earth.

I've been to the Carbondale area a few times but I usually head North to do all my hunting. Finally had success yesterday with the four new days added this year for the firearm season.

Why would you do something stupid, gain nationwide attention, then point a finger at someone else for the problem?

Airforce states that the Stranded couple can't blame Gps.

FS: Triton 1500

I have for sale a Triton 1500 with the following:

- data cable
- Ontario topo map that was purchased directly from Magellan
- a 2 gb SD card
- Zagg full body and screen Invisible Shield.

Unit is about a year old and has some dirt under the corners of some parts of the invisible shield but the screen is well protected and the gps works great - it performed flawlessly while I was recently in Sarawak (Malaysia). If you want, I'll even through in the free maps of Singapore and Malaysia that I was able to find on the 'net.

Any reasonable offer will be considered - PM me if interested.

And for those of you who are going to ask, it's for sale as I also have a T2000 which is my primary gps.

Invisible Shield

I recently put a Shiled on my 400. On the weekend I was caching and put the 400 on the bonnet (hood for USA) of the car and after replacing the cache forgot about the 400.

I remembered aftera few minutes but it was gone from the bonnet.

Fortunately I was in the country and I found it face down on the road. The screen was not scratched. Pretty good effort to come off a car and not get scratched on the screen.

I'm going to post in the 400 thread about the rest of the saga.

they could make an acceptable move by simply creating a much improved triton at current prices and lower the prices of old models. improvement can include better/bigger screen, better battery life, nicer packaging, etc. just like what is done with cell phones. if they abandon the current triton, they are scrood.

SD CARDS

Not sure I want to do that, because it is working fine. I probably did not state that clearly enough in my original post.
All it took was to transfer the first map via VantagePoint to set up the folder structure, then the rest were just copied to it with the PC's card slot.

One of my steps along the way was to use the Triton's memory menu to Format the card. That probably set it to "32" if it wasn't there already. When I query the card's Properties in the card reader slot, it says file system is FAT32. Same thing?
