March Outing Info and Permission Slip

Per Mr. J,

We only have this and next week before the next outing. So, that makes next week, March 1st, VERY VERY BUSY……

Patrol Leaders----- Please talk to your members BEFORE Monday and find out WHO is attending outing.

PLC meeting next Monday --- 6:15pm -- as usual.

ALL --- please remember perm slip AND money for the outing, Spread the word.

Adults ---- let me know if you are attending outing and how many you can take.

Remember -- the number you give me is the total number of passenger seatbelts.

Congratulations Drew!

On January 14th, Drew Voight passed his Eagle Board of Review and became Troop 1705's newest Eagle Scout.

Drew's project was to build and deliver outdoor benches for Elementary School Students for the Troy Historical Museum.

When: Friday, February 19 to Sunday, February 21, 2010
Where: Camp Agawam, 1301 W. Clarkston Rd., Lake Orion MI   (248) 693-8821
Depart: Fall-In at Wass Elementary, Friday at 5:45 pm and leave immediately after!
Return:    Approximately Noon on Sunday. Drop off at Wass Elementary
                PARENTS-PLEASE MAKE SURE SOMEONE IS AT SCHOOL TO RECEIVE SCOUT
Cost: $20 Cash – (Non Refundable) ($20 to troop – CASH - no patrol cooking)

Updated Two Page Calendar Available

The calendar changes were made to January, February&March.

- Changed Jan. outing location

- Added Wass Crossover on 11^th

- Changed the March outing date&location

- Changed the March PLC date to the 1^st vs 8^th

Troop Updates & Reminders + 2 Handouts

Per Mr. J,

1) Wreath and poinsettia pickup is next Monday… 7pm ----- for those scouts that have signed up to unload the truck, once truck is unloaded and all are sorted you can take your order and you do not have to return at 7pm. unloading starts at 4pm at wass. remember .. there is no troop meeting next Monday… you are to use the time to deliver the goods and collect monies. ALL MONEY due from fundraiser is NOV 30.

2) I now have 2 boy scout hats… new style, green with black fleur-de-lies on front.. no names in either. they are size small. PLEASE put your name in your hats.

3) tent pole found --- last outing a tent pole was found. black, fiberglass, 3 section, each section approx. 23 inches.. total length = 67 inches.. looks like an awning pole. announcement was made last night, but no one has claimed… BUT…. check your poles please.

4) Canada outing … copies of birth certificates are coming in too slowly – please do NOT put this off to the last minute. a show of hands last night had 30+ scouts wanting to go but only 9 copies received. only 2 weeks left on this.. deadline = nov 30. if you wish to bring next Monday – OK.. give to mrs hahne during pickup. she will get them to me. note… adults going on this outing --- please make a copy of your documentation as well. please deliver by nov 30. I need to make a 100% complete package of paperwork in addition to the individual driver’s copy. so.. adults… please make your copies soon. the adult copy is for me – you still must carry your original. (this is for adults only) also -- adults – if u r going on outing, please email me to acknowledge your attendance. Even though we are in the cabooses and tents are not needed, ALL will need to bring their sleeping pads. remember -- class “A” uniforms required up and back to assist crossing.

5) PLC in 2 weeks… Dec 7….

6) uniform closet --- recycle those old uniforms that are ‘experienced” – both cub and boy scout. bring them in on Monday nights and we can make sure they get to someone who can use them.

7) hockey sticks --- I am looking for any (old, used or new) hockey stick that is not broken… to be used for my jamboree troop. can be wood, plastic or fiberglass. watch on trash day… bring in Monday nights – thanks

8)    Canada outing --- attached is permission slip which was handed out last night

9)    January outing ---- location is changed…. Covenant Hills… Otisville, MI ---- cabin outing --- full weekend Friday night thru Sunday morning.

10)   Does anyone have source for old (or new) and cheap, usable inner tubes? that can be used for tubing down a snow hill?

11)   March outing DATE CHANGE --- still cabin outing --- new dates = March 5-7, 2010

12)   Truck Unloading – even if u did not sign up, you can still arrive and help. if you find yourself free at 4pm next Monday, come by and lend a hand.

13)    If you have not yet heard…. our new “merged” council has a new name – it is …Great Lakes Council. (additional info about the council can be found in the "About Us" area of the website.

Two Fliers from Last Monday Night

Attached are the 2 fliers that went home last Monday.

1) Canada outing…. copies of birth certificates are required. if your son is NOT a U.S. citizen, please tell me now.

2) Scouting for food….. we have been asked to help the collection site. if your son can help great… if he is not already helping Chris Jensen on his eagle project, OK…. no specific length required.. help as much or as little as possible. another opportunity if your son needs service time. sign-up sheet at Monday’s meeting

3) New topic…. we will need a few scouts to help unload the wreath trucks on Monday nov 23… about 3:30pm for about 1 hr… exact time details to come

New Comment System (w/ Twitter and FB support) and Updated Web Calendar

I just wanted to let everyone know about two great major updates to the Troop 1705 website that should affect all you visitors.

The first update is to the comment system on the website. Now, Troop 1705 members and guests will be able to comment on the website by using the following steps:

Click below the content of any blog post on the link where it says "0 Comments" or "# Comments" the number will reflect how many comments have been made on the post.
The next screen you will see will provide you the opportunity to login with Twitter, Facebook, or OpenID. Otherwise, a name and email will be all that is required to post your comment.
After you are done filling out a comment, you can click where it says "Post as Guest" to post your comment. Your comment WILL NOT show up right away, as it will be moderated and then posted on the website. So check back in a bit to see your comment posted.
You can comment on ANYTHING, be it a blog post on the front page, an event, or an image. Commenting on these things is encouraged!
To view your comment once it is posted, simply click on the Title of the Event, Blog Post, or Image that you commented on and your comment should be listed beneath the entry.

Finally, the second major update to the website is with regards to the Troop 1705 online web calendar. I have finally gotten around to updating the calendar to reflect the dates for the rest of 2009. Check it out by clicking the "Calendar" link at the top of the website. I hope to get started on 2010's events soon.

Sorry, but we have screwed up on the reservation at Algonac State Park and we must move the location for the Oct outing. Please take a look at the below information as well as the attached permission slip, medical form, and notice of location change.
