The wonderful beaches combined with the perfect climate make Cancun, Mexico a favorite tourist destination.

When you think of Cancun, it would be easy to imagine it as a 14 mile runway of warm white sand. In fact, there’s a beach to please everyone – from water sport enthusiasts, snorkelers, beachcombers, couples or families – this tropical destination has it all!

Cancun’s beaches are public so everyone is free to use them and they are professionally cleaned which keeps them in pristine condition. There’s also the added peace of mind of having life guards on duty.

On the Carribean side of Cancun the beaches have names like Playa Linda, Playa Tortugas, Playa Langosta, Playa Caracol, and Playa Lasperlas.

Playa Linda is good for swimming and this is where the departure dock for submarine and dive tours is located.

Playa Tortugas and Playa Langosta are well known to be very lively from early in the day until late in the evening. Their close proximity to many hotels and bars makes them very popular.

Playa Caracol is a known favorite for families with small children as the water is calm and shallow making it very safe for little ones to enjoy.

If you want a more secluded beach, you can drive up the coast and pick from numerous beaches off the beaten track which are nice and quiet.

Playa Marlin is well known as a sunbathers delight because of its tranquil setting and the bonus of magnificent views.

Playa Delfines is another strip of beach known for its amazing view but dangerous swimming conditions due to the strong surf and current.

Keep in mind that although the beaches are public, the hotels are considered private so it is not typical to be able to use the hotels facilities. And remember to check the status of the flags on the beach to alert you of current water conditions for your safety.

Enjoy Cancun!
