Question (Kaitlyn): But how will we get our stuff on the airplane?
Answer: Well, we're actually going to drive.

Question (Alyssa): Are we taking a school bus to Washington?
Answer: No.

Question (Kaitlyn): How are we going to fit my toys and Hallie in the car?
Answer: A moving truck like this one (showed her matchbox model of a tractor-trailer) will come and they will load all our stuff in so we can take it with us. 

Question (Kaitlyn): But do they have kids in Washington?
Answer: Yes

Question (Kaitlyn): Do they have movie theatres?
Answer: Yes

Last week mommy and daddy flew to Washington to look for a new house. The girls stayed with Grandma Daisy, prompting this line of questioning.

Question (Kaitlyn & Alyssa): Did you find us a house yet?
Answer: Yes

At approximately 7:00 p.m. this evening, Alyssa Anne Genovese successfully deposited feces in a white porcelain toilet. The achievement comes after weeks of failed attempts and several hundred dollars in corporate expenditures for disposable "Pull-Up" diapers. Alyssa's parents are very proud, but her sister, Kaitlyn, is beside herself with excitement as the achievement comes with a reward: the movie Barbie: A Fairy Secret.

The event unfolded this evening after both Kaitlyn and Alyssa were sent upstairs to prepare for showers. Alyssa informed the household she had to go potty and was immediately instructed by Daddy to proceed. Daddy, himself having to pee, adjourned to a separate bathroom. Minutes later, Alyssa was running about the second floor of the corporate headquarters asking for toilet paper. As Daddy responded to the request, Alyssa informed him, "and I pooped." Visual evaluation confirmed that indeed a "brownish turd" of approximately one inch by one and a half inches was present in the receptacle.

Once visual confirmation was made, Daddy made an audible announcement to which Kaitlyn immediately responded. A celebration ensued which included the "Poo-Poo Dance" performed Gangnam Style. Following the dance, jammies were installed on all minors and a celebration was held in the company's media room, where attendees enjoyed a screening of the newly acquired Barbie movie with popcorn and hot chocolate. 

This development is expected to improve year-end corporate margins as the need for "Pull-Ups" declines. Recent costs associated with bringing new products to market has contributed to lower earnings on sales of the company's most recent product offering, Not Quite There.

Earlier today, after inadvertently misinforming the four year old of Jessica's arrival time, mommy was accused of lying to her. In order to avert a scandal in the tabloid press, mommy negotiated a settlement: if Kaitlyn took a long afternoon nap, she would be allowed to stay up until Jessica arrived. As I write this, the 'anxious one' keeps popping into the office to check FlightAware and find out, "can we check on Jessica's plane?"

These flight status checks are occuring conveniently between episodes of Diego, which is the entertainment of choice for those in the arrivals lounge this evening. As the trademark Safari drums kicked off another episode a little while ago, I started doing my very chic Diego Dance. This prompted Kaitlyn to ask me, "daddy, did you watch Diego when you were a little boy?" 

"No sweetie," I replied, "Diego wasn't created yet when I was a little boy."

She persisted: "You didn't watch it on Netflix?"

"No sweetie," I again replied, "There was no Netflix when daddy was a little boy."

The tone in her voice lowered, and the conversation started to feel more like a cross examination:

K: "Daddy, did you go to California when you were a little boy?"

D: "Yes, daddy actually lived in California when he was a little boy."

K: "But DADDY! You were supposed to stay here when you were a little boy."

D: "I lived with Grandma Daisy and Papa Cozy in California, just like you live with mommy and daddy. And one day, you might move away somewhere else too."

The cross examination abruptly ended with that statement. Now it was a lecture. My four year old daughter lowered here head, narrowed her eyes, and told me in no uncertain terms:

"Actually, Daddy, when I grow up, I'm going to live here all the time."

I guess I don't have to worry about her stowing away with Jessica back to New York.

Kaitlyn immediately offered some advice to help his technique.
