With an 8am start, we began our journey on Caltrain from the Peninsula to SF. We arrived at the train station in downtown and boarded a Muni train to Embarcadero. We then transferred to the F Train towards Fisherman's Wharf. After checking out some crabs, chowder, and the World Famous Bushman, we strolled to Ghirardelli Square. From here, we hopped on the Powell-Hyde cable car down to Union Square, followed by some people watching. We took a final Muni ride to the train station and Caltrained it back to the Peninsula, just in time for my nap!

Now if that story didn't make you dizzy, try doing it!

(Clockwise from top left: Caltrain, Muni, Cable Car, catching some zzz's...)

3...

Trifecta...Happy Birthday Sydney!

Congrats Jefflissa!

1st day of school!

Hi everyone,

Today was my first day of school! I was really excited to start something new and see my friends again from last year's 'Parent & Me' class.

My parents prepped me all week for this moment, telling me how wonderful school is and how great my teachers are. They even bought me a new owl backpack with matching lunchbox. Mom took the morning off to drop me off with Dad and when they left, I could've sworn I heard her crying (or was that another mom?). Anyway, I'll be going 3 half-days per week. Dad keeps telling me how excited he is because he finally gets a break or something. Whatever...haha.

Will let you know how it goes!

xoxo
Syd

Update: School was awesome! I didn't miss my parents at all and even got to sing the "Balloon Song". My teachers said I was a bit quiet but that's only because I was really engrossed in activities and projects. I got paint all over my clothes too, fun! Can't wait for another day...

Syd draws Mom + Dad

Our portraits as illustrated by Sydney.

Queen!

Finally, a bed upgrade. It's actually the same crib she always slept in minus the front gate. She never made any attempt to climb or jump out of her crib, but now that she's potty trained we felt the need to switch it up.

Without the security of four walls (ironic because in most cases this resembles a prison), Sydney struggled with the new adjustment. She never had problems sleeping on her own until now. Also, we received frequent visits in the middle of the night. During the wee hours, when all was quiet and dark Sydney would silently open her bedroom door and tiptoe across the hallway to our bedroom. There never was an obvious sound to alarm us, but it was the eery presence we felt of someone standing at the edge of our bed looking over us that woke us up. In mid sleep, we'd turn our heads only to see the blurry dark shadow of a 3ft tall apparition silently standing beside us. Freaky I tell you. At one point, we even considered setting up booby traps along the hallway just to tip us off.

We eventually referred to her as "The Little Gnome that walks around our house in the dark hours of the night." "Little Gnome" for short, of course.

Thankfully, from the time we converted her bed, these episodes lasted a mere week and a half. Our whole fam is finally back to our regular sleep schedule for now although we can never rule out those occasional visits in the future. The Gnome lives on......

D+C's Big Wedding!

Congrats to my dear friends D + C on their big day. However, does this justify allowing her to mow down a double-scoop Pecan Praline on a sugar cone? Just the sheer thrill, amusement, and entertainment of watching her enjoy this sweet treat, lick by lick and nibble by nibble, is enough to make it alright, right? It was a super fun ride on a super sunny day through a beautiful part of the city. We past North Beach and cut through Little Italy before hopping off the car. For keepsake, I even got a model cable car that plays music. Try it sometime!

The Chua Lips

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 310px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_WZFS5pkxxRM/S568jd-T0UI/AAAAAAAAAwU/uu9OHRrzYiw/s400/DSCF9357+15-18-29.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5448999916692296002" />
This is my Dad's sister, Auntie Nancy, when she was 3 or so. I'm 3'1" (3'4" with heels) and weigh something like 27lbs. Sometimes, my Dad calls me "goong haang", which literally means "dried shrimp" in Thai and often suggests somebody scrawny and skinny. I'm bringing waif back, yo.

A while ago we were at a store and a salesperson commented on how adorable she thought I was, then proceeded to ask, "you must be, what, four years old?". What the what?

I have several vacations coming up like Wisconsin in April and Virginia in July, with a possible Hawaiian destination in September. Old age equals full price airline tickets. Full price admission into certain museums, parks, or rides. Old age can be expensive. Feed myself, brush my own teeth, potty train, and independent play. Old age stinks.

I wish I never grew up, like my Dad (moded!). We'll always be kids at heart. Like that one song...

"I don't want to grow up, I'm a Toys' R Us kid, there's a million toys at Toys 'R Us that I can play with! More bikes, more trains, more video games, it's the biggest toy store there is! I don't want to grow, because then if I did, I wouldn't be a Toys 'R Us kid!"

ps. I apologize for the free advertisement.
