Snow Day Angels and Fun!

2012-02-07T11:46:00.000-08:00

Happy Tuesday! Yes it has been awhile my loves! It is February already and the groundhog saw his shadow. Omaha had been in the 70's the week before and we were just hit with a snowstorm thank you Mr. Groundhog. The only good thing about a blizzard was that Daisy loves the snow and it gives me a chance to stay in and do some crafting!!

I found this adorable and easy to make wreath on Pinterest and just had to make it. (Here is the blog Tatertots&jello where it came from!)

What you'll need:

Wreath shape
Ribbon
Pins
Glue Gun
Glue Sticks
Cute cupcake wrappers
Little Embellishments

First wrap the wreath with the ribbon tightly and pin.

Daisy checking it out.

Then start gluing and pasting. Bunch each cupcake liner at the bottom to make a little point- they will look like flowers.

Fill in and fill in and fill in some more!

Then you can add cute little embellishments if you want and hang it!

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Something Blessed- The little ones!

2012-01-23T16:35:00.000-08:00

I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed brainstorming for the flower girl outfit! I used to dance and wanted her to wear a tutu because they are so cute. As I looked around for tutus that I liked I was stunned by the price of them- enter Ashley my new cousin in law! She is a dance teacher and made the flower girl her own pink and grey tutu for our wedding! I loved it! We also got her a leotard to go with it.

Our florist made her a gorgeous little wreath for her head made out of the same flowers as the bridesmaids.

Ana was our flower girl. Her mom and I were childhood friends- isn't she adorable!!

Here is the basket I made! O and check out her shoes- they are pink and glittery kind of like my silver and glittery ones.

Here is my cousin Easton acting and looking very grown up and very handsome in his suit! He did such a great job making sure Ana made it down the aisle.

This is my mom and dad with Ana right before she went down the aisle.

Cute huh!

Something Blessed- The Guys

2012-01-19T13:04:00.000-08:00

One of the best parts about having an amazing photographer is that she caught so many moments that I did not get to see and was not a part of. Some of those moments were captured here when the groomsmen had their chance to model in front of the camera- they look like they were really having a lot of fun.

These cute little guys are my cousins, Kobe and Easton, one lit the candles and the other was our ring bearer. I can just imagine what silly things they are telling each other.

Love these two pictures- some much joy and laughter!

The groomsmen wore grey suits with pink bow ties and suspenders from Men's Warehouse.

Here is my guy! He wore the same grey suit but instead of a pink bow tie he wore a grey one to make him stand out.

Anna also took pictures of Danny and each of his guys: Here is Kobe and Easton!

Danny and Best Man Luis!

Here is Joey my brother- he was so excited to be a groomsmen and wear his suit!

Josh- childhood friend

Danny's brother Ben while Danny is being funny!

Tim my other brother!

Luis and Tim doing some modeling...

The pink converse shoes were something I really wanted to incorporate! So we bought each groomsmen converse shoes and luckily I found a deal for 10 dollars per pair of shoes- amazing!! I love them and the guys were great sports about them too!

Have a great day!!

Something Blessed- My Grandma

2012-01-18T12:21:00.000-08:00

My grandma is one of the most important people in my life. She has taught me patience, grace, love, true character, and kindness. She has truly been there for me through thick and thin. Grandma nursed me back to health when I had the chicken pox and my parents were working. She is one of those people who says hi to someone in wal-mart and then continues to strike up a conversation with them. The next time she sees them they consider her a friend! My grandfather and her told me that no matter what they would be at my wedding which was 6 hours away from their home. Whenever someone in the family gets married she gets them a rosary to put in their bouquet. The following pictures were captured of that exchange!

It was pink to match our colors!

Bridget showed me how to put it in the bouquet.

I feel so blessed to have my wonderful grandmother and grandfather in my life!

Something Blessed- The flowers

2012-01-17T08:04:00.000-08:00

Sorry for the delay lovelies! I have been busy busy with nursing school and organizing and decorating our apartment for the new year! Winter has officially hit Omaha with frigid temperatures and snow on the ground today, which is why I thought I would brighten the winter by talking about our wedding flowers!
Who knew there was so much to know about wedding flowers; which are in season, how much do they cost per stem, what shape of bouquet do i want, what kind of filler, do I want the stems ribbon wrapped... Fortunately I picked an amazing florist who knew exactly what questions to ask and she never guessed about any detail. She also helped me stay within our budget while picking beautiful bouquets. Thanks again Tiffany from Tiffany's Floral Creations you were wonderful!

I loved the idea of baby's breath bouquets for my bridesmaids but didn't know how to go about picking which type of baby's breath. (Did you know there is more than one type?) Tiffany helped me pick white million star baby's breath which has bigger blooms. Then I asked her if she could make the baby's breath pink and so she had the idea of using pink waxflower to accent the white baby's breath and wrapping the stems with a pink ribbon- yes they were gorgeous!

My bouquet included: Light pink garden roses, white hydrangeas, light pink ranculus, light pink dahlias, silver brunia, baby's breath, wax flowers, peonies. My favorite flower is a peony and I wanted them so badly but they were not in season and she was unsure of she could find some that actually looked good. On my wedding day when she delivered the flowers my bouquet had peonies in it!! What a surprise!!

I also pinned my grandmother's brooch on the white ribbon wrapped stem as my something old. It was so neat that she found one for me that was pink!

Before the wedding my grandmother gave me a pink rosary to put in my bouquet (pictures of her giving it to me coming next). I thought this was a wonderful picture to remember it by.

The groomsmen wore a bout consisting of the same flowers as the bridesmaids.

Danny wore a light pink ranunculus flower as his bouttoniere.

Something Blessed- Bridal Portraits

2012-01-11T09:01:00.000-08:00

Happy Wednesday! While I was taking these pictures my poor bridesmaids were trying so hard to hold up my train so it wouldn't get dirty in the grass and dirt.- I didn't really have a care in the world, I was getting married!!

We took these pictures in the back of our campus church. It is called the Jesuit gardens because all of the Jesuit Priests on campus live back here!

This next set of pictures was so fun to take. Anna basically said twirl and twist so we can see your pink skirt. I just kept laughing at everyone watching me.

My bridal portraits were so fun to take and I was so glad to have my bridesmaids up there with me to help me walk without getting too dirty!

Something Blessed- My Girls!

2012-01-09T07:45:00.000-08:00

Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and are starting a great new year! I am continuing the recaps of the wedding with my lovely bridesmaids:

They wore grey knee length dresses in styles that they picked out. I think they all looked gorgeous and the dress style thy individually picked really flattered them!

Anna got a shot of me and each of my girls- which is such a great idea! Thanks Anna!

Happy Tuesday, only 5 more days til Christmas! We have already had quite a few Christmas parties, the Christmas cards are out, and presents are wrapped and under the tree! Saying that I haven't had a lot of time to post here so today I am making some time!!

We drove from the castle to the church where I got dressed and then anxiously awaited.

My mom zipping up my petticoat.

Here we go- on into the dress.

Here come my hands!

Love this picture! Most of my bridesmaids had not seen me in my dress before this! This was a special little moment.

I forgot to put on my garter and so Jeka slipped it on for me!!

Happy Wednesday! I finished my last final of nursing undergrad today and wow does that feel good! So as promised I am sharing our professional pictures from now on beginning with arriving at the church! I have said this many times but Anna was an amazing photographer and so sweet to work with!

Here is St. John's- the church that is on Creighton's campus, it is gorgeous!

We arrived at campus from the castle and as soon as we arrived I realized that the ring bearer pillow and the flower girl basket were in the back of my car at the castle. First dilemma of the day!! My uncle Tim drove all the way back and brought them just in time for pictures!

Julia and Jeka walking down campus with my dress and pink slip in hand. The dorm in the background is where I was a Resident Advisor.

Here we go- up and into the church!

Happy Tuesday! Two finals down one to go!!

I love these next pictures that I am about to show you because it shows so much excitement! The girls and I got to stay in the castle after the rehearsal dinner but the best part was getting ready in the castle. I think we all felt pampered and like princesses! My makeup artist Christine Danderand was able to come to the castle that morning to do my makeup, the bridesmaid's makeup, and the moms makeup. She did such a great job- I would recommend her to anyone getting married in Omaha!! Then Ashley who is Tony's new wife came and did all of our hair- to make it go faster most of my aunt's chipped in and spiral curled everyone's hair- it was so much fun having everyone pitch in and help!!

Happy Saturday! Let the wedding recaps begin!

All of our out of town guests started arriving the day before our wedding and we were fortunate enough to get a huge block of rooms for all of them at the same hotel- it was fortunate because the College World Series was happening at the exact same time! The hotel just happened to be look like a castle and really added to our theme. Now everyone took lots of pictures but my cousin Sallie was there to fill in for all the time we did not have Anna taking pictures. Sallie did a wonderful job and today just so happens to be here birthday! Happy Birthday Sallie!!

Here are our out of town bags full of goodies and a picture of us and the dog!

Everyone basically caravaned from Colorado- so here they are after a long trip!

Prelude from Te Deum- Something Blessed

2011-11-21T14:22:00.000-08:00

Happy Monday Lovelies!! I just took my second to last "Care Management" test for nursing and wow does that feel amazing!! Today I wanted to share with you a very special thing that Danny's cousins did for our wedding! All three of the Lambrecht girls are music majors and incredibly talented at that! After we asked them if they would play in our wedding we all sat down and chose some songs for them to play. Lynnsey ended up rearranging quite a few of the songs so they could play them with their saxophones. Most of the prelude songs were instrumental songs from "The Beatles." She also arranged the song that I walked down the aisle to, "Prelude from Te Deum." She dedicated this song to us and now her arrangement has been published and is for sale. How completely amazing is that? Thank you to Lynnsey, Janelle, and Annette for making our wedding day fill with musical love!

In 30 years...

2011-11-18T13:07:00.000-08:00

Hello! It's been awhile, but with school and newly wed life things have just been fast and crazy! During my absence I have realized how much I seriously miss the blogging world and have been catching up with all of your gorgeous weddings and updates! Congratulations to all the newly weds and the newly engaged!!

I recently was given the opportunity to attend and sort of help out at an extremely special and sweet vow renewal and thought what better way to return to the blogging world than to share it with all of you!

(Disclaimer: Names and places were not discussed in this post due to privacy laws)

This year is my senior year of nursing school which means tons of work and clinicals galore. For my last rotation this semester I am on an Oncology floor and during my first week there I had met a couple whom I want to be like in 30 years. They were upbeat and loving even though he had a terminal cancer diagnosis. They decided the best thing for them would be to leave the hospital and spend his last days at home, although due to his medical needs he needed to be discharged on Home Hospice care. However, before they left they decided to renew their vows and involve their family and their health care providers in this loving act. The vow renewal was bitter-sweet as the husband was dying and in unimaginable pain. If you looked around the room there was not a dry eye in sight and you could tell that the life of this couple, the love of this couple, and the love for this couple rose up and out of every person present. Their strength and love that they have found in each other and others is something I will never forget! They have really taken their vows in sickness and in health to heart and have stood by each other every step of the way! So in 30 years I hope that Danny and I have at least have of these insights with each other!

Congratulations to my new friends and thank you for teaching me the important things in life!

Something Blessed: Our Wedding Video in Pictures

2011-08-04T10:18:00.000-07:00

Happy Thursday lovelies!! Last night I received the email I have been waiting for from the very talented and super sweet Anna Lynch McClary!! Our proofs have uploaded and as we looked at them they reinforced all the love and blessings that we felt on our wedding day. That is why I am going to entitle our wedding recap series as... "Something Blessed" because I had my something old, new, borrowed, and blue but our guests made our marriage something blessed!

At the end of this post is a little video Anna made for us with some of our wedding pictures but there are so many more and may I say she captured the day in many more ways than I could have dreamed. As much as I tried to take in everything that day there were places and faces that I couldn't be and see- she captured the moments that I wasn't a part of or didn't see and that was amazing to see last night for the first time. Couples standing together, a laugh shared between my grandparents, a little girl and her daddy dancing, and every thing that happened before I walked down the aisle!! I can't wait to show you these photographs but it will take awhile as we wait for the proof book to come in and then order the ones we want. Don't worry because we will get the disc with all of the images on it after we order. OK OK I can't wait any longer to show you this: Our Wedding Video in Pictures!

Thank you again Anna- you are truly amazing!

The Dress!

2011-08-01T13:46:00.000-07:00

Happy Monday and happy August!! Can you believe July is gone? In a way I am glad because it hopefully means cooler temperatures here in humid Nebraska- talk about a heat wave!!
Today I wanted to finally share with you my search for my dress. One weekend my mom, two aunts, two cousins, and grandma went dress shopping and found my dress quite quickly. Now I must admit to you all that I am not much of a shopper, I never really have been. I also don't enjoy being the center of attention especially when it comes to shopping, so yes I was a little out of my element when trying on these gorgeous gowns!! Anyway me and my entourage went to a little store called Amanda's Bridal and seriously I cannot recommend them enough if you are in Colorado! I loved my consultant- she listened to me and picked up on my "shyness" so she picked up on nonverbal cues- she knew which ones I liked and which ones I didn't. So here are the ones I tried on...

Here it comes....

My dress!

Here it is on my wedding day!!

All in all it was a fun day and I was glad we only had to go to one store before finding it!! Did it take you only a few dresses to find yours or did you try on hundreds?

Little Details-Gifts

2011-07-28T17:05:00.000-07:00

Wow! Can you believe it is almost August? How time flies when you're having fun!!

One of my favorite things I did was look for and buy the bridesmaid's presents! To say thank you we first went for mani-pedi's on Thursday before the rehearsal. Then at the rehearsal dinner I gave them these:

I found these cute little bags on Etsy from nnichols- the monogram gift shop!! Way cute and they turned out so perfect! Each one was in the girl's favorite colors.

Then I got them flip flops that are dressy too for the reception!

Then they all got bracelets- I loved these- they were all monogrammed with their first initial and then they wore them on the Wedding day!!

Look closely and you can see their bracelets! (Photo courtesy of Aunt Andrea)

Danny also got gifts for his groomsmen- originally he wasn't going to wrap them but my aunt Andrea and my mom thought they should be wrapped- but they kept it manly with the duck tape! Haha!

A huge thanks to my mom, dad, aunt Andrea, and my uncle Tim for rounding up the rest of the gifts for all the people in the wedding and for helping to wrap them!!

Little Details- OOT Boxes

2011-07-27T10:10:00.000-07:00

Happy Wednesday!! I just got the best email ever from our lovely photographer Anna- pictures will be done at the end of this week or beginning of next! Yay!!! In the meantime I am still giving you updates about our details and then will show you our rehearsal dinner and getting ready!

The week of the wedding flew by and I mean it really flew- thank goodness for all the help we received on all of the little details!

These welcome boxes almost didn't make it...However this was something I wanted from the very get go and because the vast majority of our guests were from out of town I wanted to welcome them with a little something.

We took a picture of us and Daisy with blank signs which we later added Welcome to Omaha on. My plan was to take a picture my these two trains that say Welcome Omaha on them but for some reason they were closed the day we took the picture- Bummer. So we went to the old College World Series Stadium because everyone coming to Omaha knew about the series and the brand new stadium so we showed them the old one in the photo!

Here we are with our blank signs and Daisy who sat and "posed" for the picture!

Finished product on the bed in the hotel room! (Photo compliments of Sallie Wilson)

Inside the boxes were Hershey Oreo Truffles, Cookies, Muffins- all homemade by me and my two bridesmaids- Jenny and Jeka (thanks ladies!)

We also filled them with Omaha catalogs picked up by my family as they traveled from Sterling to Omaha!

The final touch and another of my favorite details were the water bottles- again thanks to Jenny and Jeka for assembling!

My parents helped me stuff all the boxes the night before the rehearsal dinner and they took them to the hotel to greet the guests!!

Here are the rest of the water bottle designs:

Happy Wedding Wednesday!

Little Details- Signs!

2011-07-20T14:19:00.000-07:00

Somewhere along the way I fell in love with having signs pointing guests in the right direction- then I saw chalkboard signs and knew I had to make some!! My mom and I went to Hobby Lobby and bought some cute frames half off, the plan was to paint on chalkboard paint and then write on them with chalk.

However, while shopping we ran across black poster board and chalk markers. They worked perfectly- my mom made all of the signs- aren't they gorgeous!! These three we didn't write on until the night before- hoping Anna has some pictures of them!!

This signs says Happily Ever After Begins Here! It was at the entrance walk of the castle!!

Have a wonderful wedding Wednesday!

Little Details- Menus!

2011-07-20T13:49:00.000-07:00

Happy Wednesday Lovelies!! I have another detail to show you today! Our Royal menus.

Since we held our reception at a castle we decided to make a custom menu naming all of the foods so that they related to castle items!

For example Court Jester Lettuce Salad, Dungeon Lemonade, Moat Water...

And no I didn't find a fork, spoon, and knife punch but did find a stamp at Hobby Lobby- simple but loved them!!
