Let me just start by saying: motherhood is wild.

One minute you’re blissfully inhaling the scent of your baby’s soft little head, and the next, you’re elbow-deep in a diaper blowout wondering how in the world poop got there. Through it all, though, one thing I’ve learned during my baby’s first year is this: the clothes you choose matter. A lot.

I didn’t start out as a “fabric snob,” but after seeing my baby break out in rashes, itch his tiny arms, and fuss during diaper changes, I went on a mission to find clothes that wouldn’t just look cute—but would be gentle, breathable, and safe for his eczema-prone skin. That’s when I discovered the magic of bamboo baby clothes, and I haven’t looked back since.

Let me tell you why these little garments made of bamboo fiber have been a total game-changer for my family—and why I think every mom of an infant under one should give them a try.

1. Soft Enough for Angel Skin

Imagine dressing your baby in a cloud. That’s honestly what bamboo baby clothes feel like. I didn’t know clothes could be this buttery soft until I ran my fingers across a bamboo onesie at a boutique and instantly said, “Okay…yes. I need this. In ten colors.”

Newborns and infants have the most delicate, sensitive skin—like, even a “gentle” tag on the inside of a onesie can cause a mini rash. But bamboo fabric? It’s smooth and silky without any of the added chemicals or rough textures you get from cheaper cotton blends. My baby stopped fussing during changes almost immediately. Coincidence? I think not.

2. Eczema’s Worst Enemy (In a Good Way!)

Okay, so eczema. Ugh.

If your baby has it, I don’t need to explain. You’ve already seen the red patches, the dry flakes, the scratching, the 3 a.m. lotion sessions. It breaks your heart. My baby started showing signs around 4 months old, especially on his cheeks and behind his knees. We tried the creams. We did the oatmeal baths. But it wasn’t until I swapped his outfits to bamboo baby clothes that I noticed a difference.

Here’s the deal: bamboo fabric is naturally hypoallergenic and antibacterial. It doesn’t irritate skin, and it actually helps wick moisture away, which means fewer flare-ups. And because it’s breathable and doesn’t trap heat like synthetic fabrics, my baby stopped waking up all sweaty and itchy. No more scratching at his onesie like a tiny frustrated bear cub. (Can you tell I’ve watched way too much Baby Einstein?)

3. Temperature Superpowers

One of the things that totally blew my mind is how bamboo baby clothes somehow know how to keep your baby warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Like, how?? Are they magic?

Turns out, bamboo fibers are thermo-regulating. It’s like nature’s version of climate control. I don’t worry as much now when the weather changes overnight or when Grandma insists we “layer him up” like we’re heading to the Arctic (love you, Mom, but it’s 72 degrees in here). Bamboo keeps my little guy comfy and dry, no matter the season.

4. No More Stinkies

Let’s be real—babies are adorable, but they’re also kind of gross sometimes. Drool, spit-up, poop, sweat… it’s a full-time laundry situation. One reason I love bamboo baby clothes is that they’re naturally antibacterial. That means fewer lingering smells and way less laundry stress. (Bless!)

My baby wears bamboo pajamas at night, and they stay fresh longer than his old cotton ones. Plus, they don’t get that weird crunchy texture after you wash them 100 times. They stay soft. They stay cute. They stay in the drawer rotation.

5. Good for Baby, Great for Mother Earth

Let me step on my crunchy mama soapbox for a second.

I care a lot about what kind of world I’m leaving for my baby—so when I found out that bamboo baby clothes are sustainably made from one of the fastest-growing, low-impact plants on the planet, it felt like a win-win. Bamboo grows without the need for pesticides or fertilizers, and it uses way less water than cotton. That means we’re not just wrapping our babies in something soft and safe—we’re also doing right by the planet they’ll inherit.

And hey, if I can be a little green while keeping my baby happy and rash-free? I’m in.

6. No Drama, Just Durability

You’d think something this soft would fall apart in the wash, right? Nope.

Bamboo baby clothes are surprisingly strong and durable. I’ve washed our bamboo sleepers so many times, and they still look new. No fading, no pilling, no stretched-out necks or wonky snaps. And that’s a big deal when you’re handing down outfits to baby #2 (or donating them with love and pride).

7. Cute Styles That Don’t Sacrifice Function

This may sound superficial, but let’s be honest—we all want our babies to look adorable. And the good news? Bamboo baby clothes come in adorable styles, from footie pajamas to rompers and swaddle sets in earthy tones and playful patterns. They’re Instagram-worthy and practical.

Double zippers? Check. Fold-over mittens? Yes please. Gender-neutral colors? All day.

8. Less Itch = More Sleep = Happy Mom

When my baby is comfortable, I get to sleep. That alone is worth its weight in gold. Since switching to bamboo baby clothes, I’ve noticed fewer night wakings from skin discomfort, less fussiness, and just more peaceful snuggles. And honestly, that’s what it’s all about.

9. A Confidence Booster for New Moms

Being a new mom is hard. You second-guess everything. But every time I pull out those soft bamboo jammies, I feel like I’m doing something right. Like, “Hey, look at me—making conscious choices for my baby’s skin and the environment!”

Bamboo baby clothes became my small-but-mighty parenting win. And we all need those, don’t we?

10. Try It—You Might Fall in Love

If you’ve been dealing with baby eczema, sensitive skin, or just want the softest, safest start for your little love, I can’t recommend bamboo baby clothes enough. They’ve made a huge difference in our day-to-day life—from diaper changes to bedtime routines—and they’re one of the few baby items I recommend to every new mom I meet.

So go ahead. Grab that buttery-soft bamboo onesie. Snuggle your baby. Take a deep breath. You’ve got this, Mama.

Final Snuggly Thoughts

Babies don’t stay tiny forever. But while they’re small, squishy, and oh-so-snuggleable, wrapping them in comfort just feels right. Bamboo baby clothes are more than a trend—they’re a hug for your baby’s skin, a relief for eczema-prone babes, and a little gift to the planet too.

Trust me—your baby (and their sweet cheeks) will thank you.

These tips and tricks can help make the transition back to school easier for you and your kids. Preparation is important and getting your kids school supplies before stores run out is always a tough job when waiting until the last minute. Set spending limits and stick to the list provided by the school. If you go in the days before classes start you can avoid stores with long lines and the stress of forgetting something or a store not having what you need. Many parents wait until the week before and are then put in a position to be rushed to find everything they need.

If your child wears uniforms you should make sure you have enough for your child to get through the week without you needing to wash anything. By buying a week’s worth of school uniforms your child won’t have to worry about running out of clean clothes midway through the week and you will only have to wash their school clothes once a week.

Another way parents can prepare for the hectic schedule of school, sports practices, and rehearsals is a message center or family calendar. With a dedicated place for the whole family to put their schedule and appointments you can keep track of what everyone in your family needs. A message center board can help you balance everything needed to keep the school year running smoothly.

Whether you’re homeschooling or sending your child off to school, they will mostly likely need supplies. Stocking up on pencils, erasers, binders and paper can ensure your child is ready to go. Keeping these supplies organized is so imp-ortant so that you and your children can find what they need.

What happens before school starts can be just as important as their preparedness at school. A regular schedule with bed time and a morning routine can set your children up for a successful day and even week. It is important for children to learn healthy habits and part of that is a regular schedule. Getting up and going to bed at the same time even when school hasn’t started yet can prepare them for the early mornings once school starts.

Final tip of the day is to set up an area for your children to finish their homework at home. An area without distractions like tvs, loud noises, and other kids or pets can be a major distraction for kids and can cause the children to spend more time working on the homework. A quiet and distraction free environment is best for childrens focus.

With all of these tips and tricks I hope the beginning of the school year can be as productive as possible for you and your children. I wish you all the luck in this upcoming school year after the crazy two years of the pandemic making eduction so struggling.

Most of these states are Republican-lad and have taken the necessary steps to activate these new laws. 10 of these states’ laws are currently in effect since Friday’s ruling. In all 26 states have laws that allow the states to ban abortion intirely and or set extremely strict limits to abortions. These laws will in hand ban abortion for those who live in these states, says Guttmacher Institute.

Three states had trigger laws in place that are going into effect very quickly now. Kentucky, Louisiana, and South Dakota’s trigger laws went into effect automatically after the Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe vs. Wade, which was ruled in 1973 and established constitutional rights to have an abortion. Other states’ laws will either take effect within a certain number of days or after steps taken by the state’s government entity.

Oklahoma has also taken the proper steps to implement its trigger ban, according to its state’s attorney general’s office. Oklahoma had previously had laws in place planning abortions before the over turn of Roe vs. Wade. Asa Hutchinson announced that the Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge also certified her states trigger ban.

Utah’s trigger ban has been in effect since Friday as well, according to a letter sent by John L. Fellows, who is the general counsel for the Utah Legislature. Planned Parenthood has filed a lawsuit in Utah seeking to block this state’s law.

Ohio Attorney General David Yost announced Friday that the injunction blocking the state’s nickname Heartbeat law will be dissolved. This bill makes it illegal to terminate a pregnancy once a heartbeat is detectable. Typically this is at the six week mark and before most expecting mothers know they are pregnant.

Alabama Governor Kay Ivey, was stated in saying they will be asking the court order that halted their states 2019 abortion ban law to be striked down immediately.

States like Wisconsin and West Virginia had abortion laws before the Roe vs wade case and the new ruling has removed the barrier preventing those laws from being in effect.

The list for trigger bans already in place is:

Texas, Utah, North and South Dakota, Tennessee, Kentucky, Louisiana, Wyoming, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, and finally Idaho.

The states with banned abortion laws prior to Roe Vs. Wade are:

Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Alabama, Wisconsin, Michigan, West Virginia, and Arizona.

States with extreme limits on abortion, but couldn’t be inforced without Roa vs. Wade is:

South Carolina, Georgia, Utah, North Dakota, Ohio, and Iowa.

The States The Gutttmacher Institute Classifes as likely to ban abortion are:

Montana, Nebraska, Indiana, and Florida.

These laws mean that abortion will be banned soon, if it hasn’t be already. If you are interested in learning more and diving deeper into all of the states who are banning abortion you can visit any national news website as this information is saturating the internet currently.

Right now is a great time to be a movie loving family, but which new and upcoming movies are worth watching? Whether you have toddlers or pre teens at home, we have the list of the best movies to take your kids to see in 2022.

Busy moms often don’t have the time to watch movie trailers or read reviews to ensure the movie their kids want to see will actually be worth taking them to the theater or something that would be better to wait and rent at home. So today we’ve created a list of the top movies coming out in 2022 for your kids to see, that the parents might even enjoy watching as well. These movies are coming out on streaming services such as Disney+, Paramount+, and HBO Max.

First we wanted to talk about a movie that was pushed back last year and is finally coming out this January. Hotel Transylvania: Transformania has been promised to be just as good if not better than the rest of the series we’ve all come to know and love. Dr. Van Helsig invents a machine and it turns Johnny into a monster as Drac and his friends take a long adventure in order to change him back into a human and grow to see things from each other’s side. This will be streaming on Amazon Prime Video this year.

Another great and timeless movie series announced they’d be dropping another movie is The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild. Many younger parents may remember watching the original movies themselves as a kid and the quality and script/blot has held up to the tale of time. This movie promises to expand the characters of Buck as well as Crash and Eddie.

For those who aren’t a fan of animated movies, is in luck as well. Kevin James is back at it again with the release of Home Team, a heartwarming and funny movie about a NFL coach who winds up coaching his local children’s team. This movie follows Kevin James as he learns what it means to be a great coach and understands his team.

If you like singing and cultural movies Turning Red may be the movie for you. Coming out March 11th of this year; this movie follows a young girl as she navigates life, school, and her family with a twist. She turns into a red panda when she is overwhelmed or excited. Will she be able to break the course or learn to love herself as she is? You’ll have to watch to find out.

I’ve never met someone who hasn’t seen Cheaper by the dozen in either the original 1950s version or the newer 2003 version. A heart warming movie about a large blended family and their lives as they struggle to keep a chaotic house of twelve functioning and healthy. And now we have a new and more inclusive version coming out March 18th. This movie promises to be as heart warming as the movies that came before.

Another Disney classic that is getting a facelift is the Chip N’ Dale Rescue Rangers. A classic from the Disney vault is getting a new facelift and new animation CGI styles mixed with classic cartoon styles from the past. This movie is also going to be streaming on Disney plus.

This next movie has been pushed back by two years and is finally coming out July 1st. The newest Minions movie Rise of Gru follows Gru in the 70’s as he is starting out in his rise to villainy and how his path crosses with the Minions for the first time.

This next movie may be the movie of the year, with lots of controversy. Lightyear is the story behind the famous movie character who is a toy superhero and astronaut. The story may be a bit confusing if you try to think too hard about the fact that it’s a movie about a man who has a toy from another movie made of him, but it gives a great background story from the origins of a beloved cartoon character from a beloved cartoon movie series. It comes out in theaters Father’s Day weekend.

Back in 2017 my mother had a fall while living alone and moved in with us. We thought it would be for a short amount of time until her health was back up and her hip was healed, but after a while we noticed her memory was fading. That was four years ago and since then she has been diagnosed with dementia. My mother will continue living with us for as long as we can help her, but we know eventually she will need more care then we can provide.

Because we did not expect anything like this to happen and we were ill prepared my mother hadn’t put enough away in her retirement funds in order to afford an extended amount of time in a care facility or any kind of nursing home care.

This forced me and my husband to consider what would happen as we aged as well. We have decided to get long term care insurance to protect ourselves. Our policy protects both of us in the case we need around the clock care for any reason, like hospitalization or nursing home and at home professional care. We can hope that the day never comes, but the piece of mind that our policy allows us makes moving forward with our lives much easier and we get great comfort knowing our sons will not have to worry about where we will end up towards the end of our lives.

I’ve learned so much in the time it has been since we had my mother move in with us. Daily tasks between jungling my boys schedules and also trying to keep my mother safe and comfortable has been like having three children instead of 2. My mother needs help and supervision when she’s cooking or even trying to make tea. We are constantly following behind here turning off the stove burners and taking burnt food out of the oven that she has forgotten she was cooking. The hardest times are when she forgets that she lives with us now and tells us she wants to head home and we have to remind her we sold her house and put aside the money for her care. She gets so upset when she wants to take the boys to the park or for a walk and forgets how to get back to the house. My husband and I have spent many evenings driving around trying to find her when she wanders off or forgets where she was headed and just starts walking around. She will need more intensive care then we will be able to give her soon and that breaks my heart, but we can’t keep taking care of her if it means endangering our boys. Luckily she does have a small retirement plan and we were able to sell her house and put that money aside for her care now, but it breaks my heart knowing that my mother would be so much happier being cared for in her own home.

Leave a comment below if you or someone you love is going through the same struggle me and my family are facing.

My husband asked me for a divorce a year ago and afterwards I met my new partner. We’ve been together for eight months and he has met my two children. I have a girl 10 and a boy age 8 and my partner has children of his own. The kids have met each other as well and get along anytime we all go out to do anything. It has taken my oldest a little while to get used to the new dynamic, but she’s finally starting to come around to the idea that mommy and daddy aren’t together anymore and mommy is happy now. She enjoys seeing my partner’s two daughters and having friends to play with when they come over.

Now my partner wants to meet with my ex and my ex has expressed he’d like to meet him as well, but they don’t agree on how it should happen. My partner wants to talk to my ex husband over the phone before they meet in person and while I understand his concern with meeting my ex in an electronic way, my ex husband does not. He refuses to speak with my new partner unless he is willing to meet face to face. Neither of them is willing to change their minds and I’m not sure what to do.

I’ve decided to tell my partner that I understand and respect he need for a zoom or phone call before meeting my ex husband in person and I’m just going to have to tell my ex husband that when he is ready to compromise and speak with my partner on the phone then we can move forward, but until then I need to respect my partners wishes and hope that one day he will understand.

I want my partner to be comfortable with my kids and in my house, because I believe that one day we’ll be living together and taking more serious steps in the future. If my ex husband cannot come to terms with this then that will be a problem for them, but for the kids sake I hope he will lower his pride and realize what he needs to think of is our children and what is best for them.

My advice for any parents going through the same situation is to remember that just because you are divorced and have children it does not mean that you can’t have a partner or a life outside of your previous marriage and if you are happy and found someone with good morals who also cares about your children then your children will be happy as well. Follow your instincts and ask for help and outside opinions.

Having to be a caregiver for a loved one or a family member is a huge task and can have some heavy burdens. The topic of Long Term Care is rising more nowadays, especially with younger generations who want to be prepared and protect their assets. If your parents or loved ones are in good health and are over the age of 50 the possibility for having long-term care is a great idea for them to invest in.

If your parents or loved ones are slowing down in life and having troubles with everyday tasks here are some tips on how to help them.

If you live close to them consider helping maintain basic house needs. Making sure that the house is a safe environment as well as providing any extra safety precautions. Things like improving the lighting, adding handrails in bathrooms and wherever they are needed, and making items closer for easier reach. Make sure that their home is “fall-proof” and there are no slippery rugs, long cords to trip over, and plenty of room between furniture to move around easily.

Make sure if they are no longer able to drive that they have a great way of transportation setup for them. A lot of churches will provide services and shuttles to take elderly around. Also things such as Uber or Lyft can be helpful as well.

Are they eating enough healthy food? Make sure that if they are not able to shop at the grocery store alone that they are purchasing things that they will eat and that are good for them.

Go to doctor visits with them if you live nearby. Making sure to take notes and help them with any medications that they may need.

Dental and personal hygiene care are important. Make sure that if they need help getting dressed, a bath started, or a schedule to remind them to take care of these issues that you are assisting as much as you can.

If your loved one or family members need for help is greater than you can manage you should consider talking with them about the different options that they have for help.
If you are having a hard time coming up with healthy snacks or meals for your little one….here are some ideas that we have tried in our home that the kids love.

Watermelon Kombucha Fruit Snacks by Natasha Red:

INGREDIENTS-

1/2 cup boiling water

1/2 cup cold water

6 scoops gelatin, like Vital Proteins brand (where to buy)

1/4 cup honey

1 cup watermelon juice (see below for how to make)

1 cup plain kombucha

coconut oil, for greasing

INSTRUCTIONS-

To make your watermelon juice, simply cut up a small watermelon and remove the rind from the fruit. Put the fruit in a fine-mesh strainer and press down with a potato masher to squeeze all the juices through the strainer into a bowl.

Make sure to have all your ingredients handy before making the fruit snacks because you will need to work quick.

Boil 1/2 a cup of water on the stove. While the water is coming to a boil, mix cold water and gelatin in a medium-sized bowl, creating a paste. Once the water is boiling, pour it into the gelatin paste and whisk vigorously until all the gelatin is melted. Continue whisking and add honey, watermelon juice, and kombucha. Grease a glass pie dish lightly with coconut oil or use a silicone mold (like this) and pour your juice into the dish/mold.

Allow to cool in the refrigerator for at least an hour until it resembles jello! If you used a pie dish you can loosen the edges with a knife and flip it over onto a cutting board, using a small cookie cutter to cut them into fun shapes!

Mini Burger Bites:Recipie by Sugar Free Mom

Ingredients-

2 pounds ground beef

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon pepper

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon garlic powder

6 ounces uncured nitrate free bacon

24 cherry tomatoes halved

2 cups red leaf lettuce chopped

8 ounces cheddar cheese cut into 48 pieces

optional: pickles

Instructions-

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Combine the first 5 ingredients together in a bowl.

Using about 1 tablespoon of the meat mixture, make 48 mini patties or meatballs.

Place them on a foil lined baking sheets and bake for 15 minutes.

Cool slightly to handle.

While the mini burgers are baking, cook the bacon in a skillet but remove before crisp. Drain on paper towel and break into 48 pieces.

To assemble burgers on toothpick start with a tomato half, pickle, bacon, lettuce, cheese and burger.

Ingredients-

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Line several large baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside.

Trim the carrot tops off. Starting on the thick end slice the carrots paper-thin on the bias to create elongated slices. You can do this with a chefs knife, but it’s better to use a mandolin slicer on the smallest setting. When you get down to the thin end, stop and save them to use in soup or salad.

Place the carrot slices in a large bowl and add the oil, salt, cumin, and cinnamon. Toss well to thoroughly coat. Then lay the slices in a single layer on the baking sheets.

Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the edges start to curl up and turn crisp. Then flip all the chips over and bake another 5-8 minutes to crisp the bottoms. Once cool, store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.

Greek Yogurt Drops: By A Healthy Slice of Life

A Harvard Study recently found that dirty air can have a huge impact on your health. It can lead to lung cancer, heart disease, or even possible strokes. With over 3.3 million deaths every year due to air pollution there are ways to keep your home safe and keep your air clean.

Here are 10 ways to keep your air clean via MNN.com:
https://www.mnn.com/health/healthy-spaces/stories/11-ways-get-clean-air-without-chemicals

1. Vent out your home by opening up those windows. A lot of chemicals and pollutants can stay trapped in non ventilated areas of your home.

2. Try getting a house plant. Plants such as Spider Plants are effective at reducing benzene, formaldehyde, carbon monoxide and xylene according to American Society for Horticultural Science.

3. Have essential oils diffusing in your home. This can help reduce airborne bacteria and even dust mites.

4. Try leaving your shoes by the front door. This helps keep dust, dirt, pesticides in one area vs all over your home floors.

5. Keep your pets groomed. Make sure that your pets are being groomed regularly. This helps reduce pet dander that causes major allergies. Also make sure that you are vacuuming regularly as well.

6. Make sure to run your AC. This helps to ventilate the house with clean air. But make sure you are checking the filter and keeping that clean.

7. Try cleaning with nontoxic chemicals. Most cleaning products are made with extremely harsh chemicals that can cause eyes, throats, and lungs to develop infections or irritations.

8. Use an air purifier. These reduce the harmful airborne bacterias that float throughout your house. A lot of these airborne bacterias can cause asthma even for younger children.

9. If you have any mold in your house GET rid of it! Mold can trigger bad allergies. It lives in dark wet places such as bathrooms, laundry rooms, and even basements.10. If you buy new furniture make sure to air it out from all the toxic chemicals. These chemicals come from the glue, paints and fabrics that they use to make the furniture.
