My fridge at home has been giving quite a bit of problems. The freezer tends to frost over whenever it's not been opened for a while which can lead to higher electrical consumption. We'll really need to look at paying a visit to circuit city to pick up a new one for less. With the year end discounts and sales, we shouldn't have to pay more than we want to.

Falling Prices

I was with my parents in an electrical store last week and was completely blown over by how low the prices of TVs have fallen and the wide variety they now offer. A bell tv is now much cheaper than it was half a year ago and they offer a whole lot more of other freebies too including a digital camera! We really can't keep up with technology and its falling prices!

I had such a pig out today! We had two celebrations which as usual involves lots of good food! I think the tortilla chips I pigged out on in Chillis made me feeling really full till even dinner time! I'm not sure why as I did not eat that much. Perhaps my stomach size has shrunk which is a good sign - no more need for expensive fat burner!

Some people have been seeing this current economic climate as an opportunity to snap up cheap flights and go travel the world. A friend has just booked orlando vacations for her whole family at the end of this year! What fun right? I would love to go too but right now my main priority is to save up hard. How about you? I've been searching for jobs and there seems to be some slim pickings available. I've been seeing lots of Sales Job Search but none really relevant to my industry nor interest. I don't think I would like to try my hand at sales, I can't imagine that I'll be persuasive enough to make someone buy my things when I am a highly sceptical person myself! Perhaps its all a mindset thing but for now I'm still looking for something more relevant.

I visited a shop over the weekend which specialises in eco-friendly products. One of the things I saw which intrigued me were rain barrels which are apparently used to catch rain water to be used as car wash water or to water your garden. I think the world has finally woken up to being environmentally friendly and to use resources in a less wasteful fashion. Hopefully it will not be too late for our children and future generations.

The past few months have been chockful of holidays. First were the Hari Raya celebrations, then Deepavali and now Christmas is almost upon us! I have some friends who are planning a Christmas party and they are actually thinking of printing holiday invitations for their party to be sent out as formal invites. It seems like everyone is going formal for parties these days. Perhaps its an opportunity worth considering.

Waking Up Early For The Dermatologist

I was really tempted to wake up early last Friday to see a famous dermatologist for some acne treatment for my stubborn chin pimples. However, when I was told that I had to wake up at 7.30am just to get an appointment with him, I decided to skip it in favour of sleeping in! I think I'll try to see him when I'm on leave in December and hopefully better rested than I am now!

I had a really enjoyable weekend. Sis and I made wantans for dinner and we were surprised at how easy they were! We also cooked up a nice Japanese dinner last night with Japanese pancakes and miso soup which was really fun! Funny thing I realised was that I couldn't eat much after cooking. How's that for a cheap appetite suppressant?! Just cook more often and I'll probably end up eating less!

Going Back To School

I am at crossroads of my career right now and was even considering going back to school for an MBA. However, I was shocked to see how expensive the MBA courses were and all the other additional expenses attached to it such as GMAT prep courses, living expenses and cost of books and materials. I definitely don't have the requisite savings to do the MBA now and was wondering if it might be worth taking a loan. What do you think? Will the returns be worth it?

Working Late Nights

Our quarter close is just over and my colleagues have been staying terribly late nights just to meet their deadlines! They have been walking around with dark circles under their eyes and one of them was even asking who had any dark circle cream they could recommend. Luckily I'm not doing their roles otherwise imagine the extra money I'll need to spend on eye creams!

Have you ever compiled a bucket list? I got inspired to do one after I watched the very inspirational cartoon Up and although I've not written it down I know that new york vacations is certainly on my list! Someday I hope to make a trip there to spend some time trawling Fifth Avenue, shopping in Saks, visiting the art galleries there and munching on hot bagels from the street vendors! I just need to make sure I have built a sufficient travel fund by then!

A friend of mine recently had a new baby girl! The proud father was so happy and excited that he even offered to buy his friends Rocky Patel cigars and beer to celebrate the happy occasion! Funny how the father does all the fun celebrating with his pals when his poor wife who did all the pushing does not have any chance to celebrate! :p Can't be very fair!

Scrub And Exercise

Now that the hubs is working somewhere else, the task of cleaning the house usually falls onto me! Sigh...I was just scrubbing hard at my bathroom tiles the other day and partly wishing I had a maid to help me do all these cleaning work and ironing. But when I consider the cost of getting one, even a part time cleaner, I think I'd rather do it on my own! At least I get some exercise too whilst cleaning!

There have been some good advertisements on telly lately. I find one by Kitkat particularly funny where a bored and tired looking cashier uses his teeth as a barcode scanner until he gets to take a break with Kit Kat! With such funny and entertaining ads, its no wonder that advertising agencies get paid lots of money to come up with creative and innovative ideas!

Motorhome Adventures

Everyone always has romantic ideas of hopping into a motorhome while on vacation and driving off into the sunset with your own mobile toilet and kitchen. However, it can be quite different in reality, as I have heard for who is going to clean the toilet and kitchen once it has been used? Surely no one would want to be doing that while on holiday! And what if your motorhome breaks down? Will it be easy to get motorhome towing services if you are out in the country with limited coverage? I think I'd rather opt for staying in motels even if they cost a little more!

Would you consider heated mattress pads a luxury or necessity? I don't know about you but I don't like the cold very much and nothing is better to me than crawling into a nice warm bed at night! So yes I think if I lived in a cold country, heated mattress pads would definitely be a necessity for me! That with heated flooring too! :)

Some people in my office have been on a bit of a health blitz including going for colon cleansing. They are even happy to share the best colon cleanse centre! I found that a little too much information to digest though and as much as I would like to be healthy, I think I would give this treatment a miss! Its a little too invasive for my comfort!

Tummy Trouble

Some good lunches and dinners have seen me battling a tummy! Sigh, what happened to my days of flat tummies and gym! So naturally I was terribly tempted when I saw an ad promising to lose belly fat quickly and easily by drinking some herbal teas. However, for health reasons, I decided against it and have to either get cracking at some exercise or live with my little tummy! :p

I went to the pharmacy recently and saw yet another new advertisement for best weight loss pill, promising to melt pounds in just a few days! It was rather cheap for its claims and I was rather concerned at how easily available weight loss pills are made available to young girls who are usually very sensitive about their weight. It is a dangerous way to lose weight and I think the Health Ministry should be more vigilant in monitoring this.

Would you ever consider doing colon cleansing? I've heard lots of good colon cleanse reviews from people who have tried it before but I can't imagine going through it. I've recently also seen some places offering this treatment for a cheap price and I have some reservations about doing something as personal as this in a cheap and dingy place where the equipment may not even be clean! Tell me if you've ever tried it!

DH seems to have settled down a bit Down South despite a few hiccups here and there. He's been asking me to update my resume and start looking at options down there but I would prefer to wait for my bonus. I was also looking around the house recently and can't imagine having to pack up the whole place for cross country moving. I guess that will eventually come which means I'd better start looking at company quotes soon.

Do you prefer using desktop computers or laptops? I have only a laptop at home and tend to find that laptops give me more eyestrain compared to desktops, perhaps due to the proximity and texture of the screen. I think I should start considering buying a desktop for the sake of my eyes! Its quite cheap now and there seem to be some good deals around. Any good desktop to recommend?

New Spa In Town

I had a really good Friday off last week. Went for a spa which had some offer and got a nice scrub and massage for less than RM200! I thought it was pretty alright since good scrubs and massages are hard to come by for a good price here. I was also given a tour of their spa which had treatment rooms done in different concepts. What I really liked was the Japanese room which had two walk in tubs and is specially for couples! I should call them up to find out how much their couple massages are!

I never used to think much of my office furniture until I found out that they were specially designed for ergonomic comfort! A simple swivel chair like the ones we use are actually custom made and cost over several thousand just for a chair! Gosh, to think that we didn't use to care much about it and would drag it all over the place! The price tag now makes me think twice before I dirty or spoil my chair!
