Leven Ath U12 Extend Lead

A Journalists View - Sam Holdsworth

Leven Athletic Under 12 v Bedale Under 12

Leven continued their unbeaten streak by beating Bedale 4-0 with goals from Sam Rodgers, Rocco Violetta, Nyle Khalid and Matt Dickens.
The game started off fairly open with neither side creating much by way of chances, slowly but surely though, Leven started to get more possession and get a stranglehold on the game.
The first clear chance was a goal, after a mix up in defence the ball was slipped through to Sam Rodgers unmarked at the left hand side of the box, who dispatched a neat finish into the back of the net.
The second half started with Bedale then taking the initiative and started to cause problems. They made a few half chances but nothing really clear cut.
Against the run of play, Leven grabbed a second, Matt Dickens looped a brilliant free kick over the Bedale wall, and the ball dropped to the feet of Rocco Violetta who tapped it in.
Leven then wasted no time in adding a third, after 2 minutes, Jake Schofield whipped a powerful cross for Nyle Khalid, whose diving header flew in to the roof of the net.
Bedale didn't let the score line affect them though and still kept banging on the door, forcing many a great save from Leven goalkeeper Nathan Dale.
Leven's quality showed through later on as they added a fourth goal to their tally, the ball was slipped through for Rocco Violetta who sent a reverse pass to Matt Dickens on the edge of the box who delicately chipped the goalkeeper into the bottom left hand corner of the goal.
Although the score line is somewhat harsh on Bedale, who played well, but Leven were the better side and took their chances to seal an exciting win.

Come on you girls, be glamorous

BUTTERWICK Children's Hospice is shaping up to offer an outstanding pampering extravaganza.

Everyone joining the glamorous Girls' Night In, on January 29, at Judges Hotel in Kirklevington, will benefit from beauty tips.

Hospice fundraiser Steph Wood hopes girls of all ages will take part, saying: "We need to raise over £800,000 this year alone to ensure the very necessary work of Butterwick House Children's Hospice. Raising funds for such really vital work can not only be fun with us - it can do you a lot of good."

THE Under-18s had a sensational comeback to defeat Bedale 4-3.

A hat-trick in the last 10 minutes from Evan Ditchburn secured victory in a match which was drifting away from Leven.

The Under-14 team were defeated 5-4 against Norton and Stockton Ancients, with Norton getting the winner in the last minute of the game, in what was an excellent football match.

Leven's goal scorers were Zach Kibirige (2), Sam Riley and Josh Bell.

Leven FC

THE New Year kicked off for the Under-11s with an away trip to Fishburn.

The first half ended goal-less but after a goal mouth scramble, Jack Iceton then put them ahead.

Fishburn equalised but Sam Henshaw then volleyed home Aaron Wyeness' cross to put Leven back on top.

But with the final touch of the game, Fishburn drew level with a great header from a corner.

Meanwhile, a twice postponed cup fixture finally saw Leven Athletic Under-12s at home to Bishop Auckland St Mary.
