         <title>Stockton pubs licence suspended</title>
<description>A PUB landlord in Stockton had his licence suspended after alcohol was sold to underage customers on three occasions.

The Stockton Arms in Hartburn closed this week for a fortnight following the decision by Stockton Council's licensing committee.

Members had heard from Cleveland Police that under-age test purchasers bought alcohol at the pub in May and June 2007 and in February this year.

         <title>Better by the yard...</title>
<description>WORK is well under way to give Stockton's Cultural Quarter a facelift.

The Cultural Quarter consists of a number of small yards linked by alleyways which open up into Green Dragon Yard.

The revamp includes the replacement of some cobbles with modern granite paving stones, replacing ornate wall lamps and a central feature surrounded by four trees as a focal point.

         <title>Summer Fair Update</title>
<description>Although the weather wasn't at all kind to us -heavy rain for most of the day- and the fact that there were other money raising events going on in the immediate area, it was still not enough to dampen the spirits of all who put so much work into the Fair, to make it such a success together with the visitors who braved the bad weather and came along to share in the day with us. Thank you to everyone who took the time to attend our Summer Fair and a big thank you to all who contributed in any way. </description>

<title>Stockton Council to tackle the pests problem</title>
<description>RAT and pigeon infestations in Stockton borough are to be tackled with a series of wide-ranging measures.

Stockton Council is aiming to slash the pigeon population blighting Stockton town centre by half within the next three years.

Culling is not expected to form a "significant" part of the strategy, but is not being ruled out - particularly where birds pose a threat to health.

Like rats, pigeons carry a number of potentially infectious diseases, including tuberculosis, which can be transmitted to humans through contamination of food by pigeon droppings or by the birds themselves.

<title>Week-long festival tops ideas for the Tees</title>
<description>A WEEK-LONG 'River Festival' could be launched next spring to promote and celebrate leisure facilities on the River Tees.

The festival is one of the ideas put forward as a result of a 10- month review of river-based fun and leisure activities in Stockton Borough.

Widely considered as one of the region's most valuable natural assets, the River Tees is at the heart of the area's regeneration.

The review of leisure activities on the 13-mile stretch of the river from the Tees Barrage, through Stockton and Yarm and onto Low Worsall, is set to form a blueprint for accelerating its improvement.

<description>A STOCKTON shop owner has spoken out after being terrorised by a gang of young yobs for dressing differently.

Silver Johnson, who runs the Enter the Asylum alternative clothing store, believes both her customers and herself are picked on because of how they look.

The Stockton High Street shop is a magnet for those who embrace alternative culture, often referred to as goths, emos or punks.

Yet the power-packed three-footer is so tiny he could fit inside a full-size golf bag.

Professionals nurturing the Hartburn youngster's amazing talent say they have seen nothing like it.

"He is one in a million," said coach and mentor Marty Clemments.

William's dream is to make it to the top as a star on the international tournament circuit like hero Tiger Woods.

         <title>Ian Ramsey's Coast to Coast Vision</title>
<description>Recently Ian Ramsey School Assistant Head Teacher Alistair Armstrong was once again back in the saddle. Alistair was joined by an ex pupil of the school, Simon Trenholm, the Manager of new Middlesbrough supply teaching agency Vision for Education. The pair completed the 276 mile Coast to coast to Coast journey in 48hrs, cycling from Sunderland to Whitehaven and back. Alistair and Simon followed the Coast to Coast route, designed by Sustrans on the 21st and 22nd June.
Simon was glad to be involved saying "It is excellent to be able to put something back into Schools. My wife Saira and I started Vision for Education in February and being ex teachers ourselves, wanted to create a community of Supply Teachers working in Local Schools. We also wanted to create partnerships with the schools we work with and this is a great opportunity to show our commitment to schools in the area"
As well as the Sustrans route being followed over the weekend, groups of students from the school got in on the action riding the same distance on exercise bikes on Thursday 3rd July. Thankfully all involved managed to come through their bike ride unscathed and also managed to raise a little over £2000.
To support Ian Ramsey and its place in the local community the Foundation needs financial support. The recent development of a new music suite has left funds in the foundation at a critical level. If you wish to support the School, you can still donate to the Ian Ramsey foundation and it could not be easier, log onto www.justgiving.com, searching for either Alistair Armstrong or Simon Trenholm, call the school on 01642 585205, or call Vision for Education on 01642 243843.
