The Middlesbrough drugs ring could have put millions of pounds worth of cocaine and heroin on to the streets of Teesside. It was uncovered after a detective spotted a woman on a street corner doing an obvious drug deal with a man in a blue Mercedes. William Joseph Roberts, 67, of Esk Street, North Ormesby, was admitted to James Cook University Hospital but died a few days later on September 27, 2007. The young people also took part in an interactive session and heard the experiences of an offender. Terrence Leonard, 65, a retired fitter of McCreaton Street, North Ormesby, was found at Middlehaven dock on October 3 last year. Teesside Coroner’s Court heard he had been spotted by a security guard shortly after 5am “behaving in an irregular manner” at the dockside. He woke the man and woman, in their mid-20s, after spotting smoke on the eleventh floor of Glentworth House tower block in Netherfields, pictured. Firefighters rescued all three from the flames before tackling the blaze at about 5.40am. Crew manager Marty Challenor, of Grangetown Fire Station, said: “A neighbour discovered the fire and he started tackling it himself.
