New appeal on dog horror

POLICE today renewed an appeal for information following a savage attack on a dog by a pit bull terrier.

The attack left a Jack Russell called Bob with such serious injuries that he required a leg amputation.

After receiving information from the public, Cleveland Police officers now believe the attacking dog was a pit bull terrier and not a Bull Mastiff or Boxer as first thought, pictured Bob with owner William.

The attack happened as Bob's owner William Cole, 63, of Normanby, was walking his dog between 10am and 10.30am on Wednesday, January 14, at the base of the Eston Hills near the NHS Centre.

They came across two men with the pit bull terrier wearing a dark coloured thick leather collar.

FOR the 20th year, slimmers at Barnaby House, Eston, are among those joining Slimming World's annual Slimathon, which aims to raise cash for the NSPCC through sponsored 40 day slims.

Anyone wishing to join can call in on a Wednesday at 5pm and 6.45pm to pick up a sponsorship form. The Slimathon is over 40 days, any time during January, February and March.

Jennifer Trafford, of the barnaby House Slimming World group, said: "The event is open to everyone in Eston, not just Slimming World members.

"The more people who take part in the Slimathon, the more money we can raise for the NSPCC and the healthier we help families in Eston to be."

Thanks to pupils' horticultural efforts, the garden at Ravensworth Junior School, Normanby, has always provided small amounts of vegetables for use in classrooms and for sale to parents.

CALI'S Under-12s did the double over Seaton Carew, coming away with a 3-1 win.

A hard-fought first half saw Seaton 1-0 up at the interval.

The second half saw Cali come out in an upbeat manner, and a lovely strike by Connor Caney saw them equalise.

Defender Callum Wilde hit hard and low to make it 2-1, then some lovely passing play by defender Ben Kane ended with Bradley Hayden running through Seaton's defence to sweetly make it 3-1 to Cali.

Man of the match was Josh Tuckey for a solid display.

South Park Rangers FC

PR UNDER-11s entertained Bedale in the Challenge Cup.

This was a crunch game as both teams are currently sitting at the top of their table.

SPR established the tone of the game with some great passing from defence through to attack, their form was strong and it wasn't long before SPR took the lead scoring their first goal.

Bedale responded by going on the attack, though SPR defence was well organised blocking any route through.

SPR soon responded by taking play to the other end resulting in a great second goal from outside the box to lob the keeper.
