The warning came from Middlesbrough councillor Barry Coppinger after the Cleveland Emergency Planning Committee considered a report setting out concerns over the effectiveness of ambulance services if the Teesside control room was closed. Eight workers, some pictured, from North Eastern Tyre and Exhausts took a day out from their routine to help maintain and repaint the Unicorn Centre for disabled riders in Hemlington. Ian Darcy, of North Eastern Tyres, said: “We have been long-time supporters of the Unicorn Centre. I have seen the work they do at close hand for a number of years.
