The Tube at Twelve concert features a line-up of Tube Stars past and present as well as several friendly Tube Guest Stars.<br />
There will be 12 Brass Stars in all, with former Tube Star Richard Hull waving a stick to keep everything together, and Guest Star Billie Farr hitting things with sticks.<br />
It's not every day that you get to see or hear a Brass Dodectet, or even to use the word Dodectet!<br />
On the music front, the concert will include some Tube Favourites, as well as all new Brass Dodectet arrangements and a fanfare written especially for the occasion by Local Composer Star David Minchin.<br />
We have said this before, but truer than ever, this will be Tube as you've never seen us before!<br />
Interval refreshments will be served. <br />
Please email or telephone to reserve your tickets.

Tim began playing the cornet at the age of 4 under the guidance of his parents initially, and later Paul Mayes. He was accepted into the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain at 12, attending 11 courses in total, 5 of which on principal flugelhorn. After a spell at the Royal Academy of Music, studying trumpet with James Watson, Tim studied Popular Music and Music Technology at Anglia Ruskin University.
<br /><br />
Now teaching Brass, Guitar, Drums, Piano and Music Theory locally, Tim is the principal cornet of Haverhill Silver Band (2015 London & Southern Counties 1st section champions), plays trumpet for mod revivalists Secret Affair, and is the vocalist/guitarist for 3 Screaming Popes. He has produced many local bands, and his production work has featured on Radio 1 and Channel 4. He has also guested with some of the country's top brass bands including Fairey, Grimethorpe and Brighouse & Rastrick. He is currently working hard on trying to convince Gavin that Tube would be much better playing cornets instead of trumpets!

Paul started playing the horn at the age of 8, whilst living in Hampshire, and went on to become principal horn of the Hampshire County Youth Orchestra some years later. He studied Physics at Oxford from 1995 to 1999 and during this time gave numerous solo, chamber and orchestral performances. He also organised large-scale modern horn recitals and historical chamber music concerts on natural horns at the Bate Collection.
<br /><br />
Since moving to East Anglia in 1999 (for a day job playing with lasers!), Paul has performed with many orchestras throughout the region and given a number of concerto performances. He has also worked with chamber ensembles and orchestras in Belgium, the Channel Islands, France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands.
<br /><br />
Now based in Cambridgeshire, he continues to perform with a wide variety of local orchestras and musical groups. He is currently principal horn of the East Anglia Chamber Orchestra, the Sampson Orchestra of Cambridge and the Sinfonia of Cambridge, and also plays with Cambridge Winds, Cambridge Wind Players, the Lavenham Sinfonia and of course Tube. Paul avidly explores all aspects of horn playing and, as well as having a small collection of natural and early valve horns, experiments with the use of the horn in as many musical genres as possible!TUBEhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09378073483732113299noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22668726.post-63116184858221839082015-10-14T01:58:00.001+01:002015-10-14T02:01:20.000+01:00A Downright Different Concert - Friday 23 October<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSobqF3O_-VIWc5rRiC7Vic8GOE3GEMTNIqKOzZozQ741JRIvpd0x0k74WZx0L5vgdWRQz-xXFMdrytYKvgHFPJpbWGCvMY8IXlK-x24pnidayeC_JcufNzuqiTyMEi5YyBUTImw/s1600/151023_Flyer.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSobqF3O_-VIWc5rRiC7Vic8GOE3GEMTNIqKOzZozQ741JRIvpd0x0k74WZx0L5vgdWRQz-xXFMdrytYKvgHFPJpbWGCvMY8IXlK-x24pnidayeC_JcufNzuqiTyMEi5YyBUTImw/s640/151023_Flyer.JPG" /></a></div>

Sarah began learning piano and violin at an obscenely early age, but by the time she was nine had developed a yearning to play the French Horn. On visiting her village Brass Band, she quickly received her first lesson (along with the information that “we don’t have them things in a Brass Band, Dear); that if you learn with a Brass Band you tend to be given the instrument which is in the cupboard, because that is the player the Band is short of.
<br />
<br />
Proudly bearing a Trombone home, Sarah began a relationship with the instrument which would take her to Haverhill, where she met Paul Farr, Tim and Gavin, many local groups and orchestras, County groups, the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain, where she became Section Leader and eventually to the Royal Northern College of Music.
<br />
<br />
Now living and working in Cambridgeshire, Sarah plays mainly with Tube and the Prime Brass 10 piece and quintet.TUBEhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09378073483732113299noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22668726.post-91236671191004722202015-09-28T05:52:00.000+01:002015-09-28T05:54:12.199+01:00Trumpet - Gavin Bowyer<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzJzgg9Dwpq5NzxbQjzSJH-B9q0ZMgEf8bFnIOLCLG47uekh6ji-mTMhpD-jxNC_gV7gUua25FyfkzPbScLsAZ0JOwqN2l8dVKnYxEy-iixZd6GedFqzLr_HSEtY9BtPEcD2Ah1A/s1600/Gavin.bmp" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzJzgg9Dwpq5NzxbQjzSJH-B9q0ZMgEf8bFnIOLCLG47uekh6ji-mTMhpD-jxNC_gV7gUua25FyfkzPbScLsAZ0JOwqN2l8dVKnYxEy-iixZd6GedFqzLr_HSEtY9BtPEcD2Ah1A/s320/Gavin.bmp" /></a></div>
Gavin started playing the cornet at the age of 6. The Haverhill Youth and Learner Bands were particularly strong at the time, and music quickly became a serious hobby. Since then he has played in many brass bands including the Rigid Containers Band (formerly GUS Footwear Band). Gavin was Principal Cornet of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain for two years, a position held by such illustrious names as Maurice Murphy, Phillip McCann and Philip Cobb.
<br /><br />
In 1995 (aged 19) Gavin was a semi-finalist in the Shell-London Symphony Orchestra Scholarship, and in 1999 he graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. After travelling in Australia and Canada, and playing with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, he now teaches brass at schools in and around Linton, Saffron Walden, Cambridge and Haverhill.
<br /><br />
As well as playing in Tube, Gavin is a member of the East Anglia Chamber Orchestra. He has recently played for The Bishop of Ely, The Queen, and Kylie Minogue!TUBEhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09378073483732113299noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22668726.post-56867984758468776102015-09-23T22:54:00.000+01:002015-09-23T22:54:02.808+01:00An Evening of Melody - Friday 25 Sep<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjS6-2VjRhLFZm_tLbcmY6iBQYPlqB7yZG01gmmUQusFHc8AL5yznT7-b6g572S6ZCAK4jTxLdzeMKGExTX4t5CT8XOUs8ug9ebZQDZ6UkyTmkBVu91jbdmJhWV1uiemO5ssQm6aw/s1600/20150925_MelodyGirlsFlyer.JPG" imageanchor="1" ><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjS6-2VjRhLFZm_tLbcmY6iBQYPlqB7yZG01gmmUQusFHc8AL5yznT7-b6g572S6ZCAK4jTxLdzeMKGExTX4t5CT8XOUs8ug9ebZQDZ6UkyTmkBVu91jbdmJhWV1uiemO5ssQm6aw/s640/20150925_MelodyGirlsFlyer.JPG" /></a>TUBEhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09378073483732113299noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22668726.post-35761408950755938602015-09-23T22:49:00.000+01:002015-09-28T06:08:58.076+01:00Tube on YouTube Again !!<div class="MsoNormal">

Here he studied the Tuba with Andrew Duncan (Halle), and studied the art of drinking & curry eating with the rest of the lower brass students. Whilst up north Paul played with some of regions top bands, including Brighouse & Rastrick and Besses O’th Barn, and was nominated for the Harry Mortimer prize for best brass player, in his final year. </p> <p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0in;" lang="en-GB"><br /></p> <p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0in;" lang="en-GB">After leaving music college, Paul moved to London, playing with various ensembles, including the LPYO, Anglia Brass Academy, Bloomsbury chamber orchestra, the Real brass quintet, and was an original member of Surrey Brass. Brass playing remains his focus, playing with TUBE and Haverhill Silver Band, as well as various other ensembles in the region. </p> <p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0in;" lang="en-GB"><br /></p>TUBEhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09378073483732113299noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22668726.post-52586692802721046982007-11-25T11:21:00.000+00:002007-11-25T17:22:52.625+00:00Trumpet - Richard Hull<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFwyaxeZIx00HIBhO_W1nYOy68ybEWoe4hyj5vtBRhqMU1lN2zgKekJdmRiNC3qTT6qWBQOhJ7ASmNuuf0izd0ufQE25GDsehTCVk0NejwFvIPSp_f2cZ2EMFap_TY0j9gWEmRng/s1600-h/Richard+Hull.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFwyaxeZIx00HIBhO_W1nYOy68ybEWoe4hyj5vtBRhqMU1lN2zgKekJdmRiNC3qTT6qWBQOhJ7ASmNuuf0izd0ufQE25GDsehTCVk0NejwFvIPSp_f2cZ2EMFap_TY0j9gWEmRng/s320/Richard+Hull.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5136829341643125330" border="0" /></a><br />Richard began his musical life at the age of 9 when he was dragged kicking and screaming to his first piano lesson. At the age of 10 he learned the cello for two weeks before giving up, was found out by his school music teacher and forced into his first trumpet lesson.
