TB is caused by by a microorganism, mycobacterium tuberculosis.
Little nubs or what is called tubercles form in the affected part of the
lung. These tubercles can be come soft and swell and eventually bleed.
Common
symptoms of TB start with fevers that come on in the evening, night
sweats, a slight amount of blood in the mucus. Blood in the mucus is one
of the cardinal signs so pay attention and get yourself checked by your
medical doctor. if that occurs!
Tuberculosis can be caused by inhaling the bug mycobacterium tuberculosis or a slight cut and getting the bug through the blood.
One
of the earliest symptoms is a early morning cough with a clear mucus.
If the mucus has blood particles in it, according to Ayurveda, the main
cause is the weakness of the immune system due to stress, hereditary
tendency, unhealthy environment, taking drugs or alcohol which leads to
lowered state of resistance.
The four factors influencing the
duration and severity of the disease are the severity of the infection,
how long the disease has gone on before it is detected, the age of the
person with TB and the power of the immune state of the person.
Along
with proper medical care, Ayurveda recommends foods and herbs that
strengthen the tissues of the body and help with proper elimination to
help restore the immune strength. Garlic is a wonder drug in the cure of
TB according to Ayurveda.
Take two cloves of garlic boil in eight
ounces of milk and one quart of water. Reduce the water and milk down
to one fourth its original volume take twice a day until symptoms are
gone. Very safe to take as it is a food substance only no herbs
involved.
Ayurvedic advice is all about building your body tissues
and strengthening you through the approach of your unique body type.
Apowerful principle of Ayurveda that is woven into every diagnosis and
treatment decision made either by the Ayurvedic professional or the
individual seking self care decision.

    First, The Causes:
Tuberculosis may affect
not only the lungs, but other parts of the body as well, especially the
bones and kidneys, but also sometimes the intestines, spleen, and
liver.
This disease is caused by bacteria. But intemperance in
eating, drinking, and dressing, exposure to cold, loss of sleep, impure
air, lack of proper exercise, not breathing deeply enough to open up all
the lung cells, leading a sedentary life, overwork, lack of properly
prepared nourishing food, and an unbalanced diet all pave the way for
the tuberculosis germ to gain a foothold.
The Symptoms
The
symptoms may be slow in developing. There is usually a cough, and many
times the sputum that is coughed up contains blood. The cough may
gradually become more severe.
There is frequently an associated fever, profuse sweating at night, fatigue, weakness, loss of appetite, and weight loss.
Chest
pain may be present when there is an associated pleurisy. Sometimes
the lymph nodes in one or both sides of the neck are enlarged (scrofula)
was frequently caused by drinking milk that was contaminated with the
tuberculosis bacteria; however, it is now very rare to contract
tuberculosis in this manner, since pasteurization of milk kills the
germs that cause tuberculosis.
Medicinal Herbs
Golden Seal:
One
of the best remedies of all the herbs. It seems like a cure all
because it kills and neutralizes poisons. It's great for stomach
problems and nausea. It works for all skin problems incredibly well.
Helps digestion. It cures most all throat problems. Great for colds
and fevers. Makes a fine tonic. Body parts: it's excellent for the
eyes. Good for prostate troubles.
Cubeb:
Great for bronchial troubles and cough.
"Side Effects"
Cleans out bowels. Increases flow of urine. Brings tone and strength to the stomach
Lobelia:
Lobelia is the most powerful relaxant known among herbs. It calms stomachs, nerves, inflammations, and lungs (as in a cough).

Tuberculosis is one of the major killer diseases of modern times.
Till recently, anti-tuberculosis drug regimes were successful in curing
the disease in a majority of affected patients. However, multi-drug
resistance is fast becoming a major concern for health providers the
world over. Moreover, tuberculosis is no more a disease of only the poor
or developing nations. At least a third of the world's population is
believed to be harboring latent (hidden) tuberculosis, which can later
on give rise to active infection and subsequent transmission to others.
Ayurvedic
herbal treatment has a definite and important role to play in the
successful management of tuberculosis infection. This role has
significance on several fronts. In the last five decades, it has become
apparent that all currently available modern drugs for tuberculosis can
be potentially toxic to the liver. This may lead to decreased appetite,
inflammation of the liver, and in severe cases, irreversible damage and
liver failure. There are several Ayurvedic medicines which act favorably
on the liver, like Kutki (Picrorrhiza kurroa), Guduchi (Tinospora
cordifolia), Sharapunkha (Tephrosia purpurea), Kalmegh (Andrographis
paniculata), Arogya Vardhini etc. These medicines, when added to the
tuberculosis treatment regimes, instantly correct liver problems, and
help in a rapid therapeutic response to treatment.
Tuberculosis of
the lymph glands, and tuberculosis affecting various organs of the body
may be more difficult to treat than tuberculosis of the lungs. Many
patients with infected lymph glands continue to have periodical
symptoms, in spite of having taken regular, prolonged anti-tubercuosis
therapy. Ayurvedic medicines like Kancnnaar (Bauhinia variegata),
Kanchnaar Guggulu, Triphala Guggulu prove to be very useful and
effective in such situations. Different, specific herbal medicines can
be used for the different body organs infected with tuberculosis, so as
to give a more rapid and predictable response to treatment.
Multi-drug
resistance, re-infection and latent infection have become major causes
for worry in the treatment of tuberculosis. Worldwide, the search is on
to discover new, more effective drugs and vaccines for tuberculosis.
However, for the time being, increasing the immune status of the body
appears to be a rational and viable solution to the above mentioned
problems. The current focus is, therefore, on immunomodulation, and
Immunology is a fast growing field of research.
Ayurvedic herbal
medicines are known to significantly improve the immune power of the
body, to help it to fight off infections, and prevent recurrence. Some
of the important Ayurvedic medicines useful in tuberculosis are:
Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), Shatavari (Asparagus recemosus),
Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia), Yashtimadhuk (Glycerrhiza glabra),
Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), Abhrak Bhasma, Laghu Malini Vasant, Madhu
Malini Vasant and Suvarna Malini Vasant.
In this way, Ayurvedic
herbal medicines, given judiciously as supportive treatment to modern
anti-tuberculosis drugs, can help solve some of the major problems
currently associated with treating tuberculosis.

Tuberculosis (TB) is a bacterial infection that usually affects
the lungs. However, it can hit other organs in a person's body. Are the
kidneys one of these? Before going forward onto this information, please
remember that what you read here should not be taken as advice from
qualified medical personnel, as I'm not qualified to diagnose or treat
any condition, including TB. Please talk with a doctor or other medical
professional if you're thinking that you, or someone you know, might
have tuberculosis.
To respond briefly, yes, TB can affect a
person's kidneys. This condition is known as renal tuberculosis. Along
with the general symptoms of TB, it can also lead to kidney pain.
If
the infection is in the lungs, symptoms can include a coughing up of
blood known as hemoptysis. Night sweats are frequently mentioned as a
characteristic symptom of this condition. Weight loss, sometimes known
as consumption, is also a potential sign. A chronic cough might also be
found in the individual. Please keep in mind that these symptoms can
also be seen in other medical conditions; additionally, a person might
be infected with tuberculosis and not display these.
Many cases of
TB are asymptomatic -- that is, the patient does not show any symptoms.
This beginning stage is known as the latent period of the infection.
Only about ten percent progress to an active stage in which symptoms
appear. If the disease reaches this point and is left untreated, it is
fatal roughly half the time. Treatment involves the use of antibiotics.

Tuberculosis is a bacterial disease that affects the lungs and
produces unpleasant signs and symptoms which include persistent
coughing, loss of weight, loss of appetite, night fever and weakness. It
is a condition that comes when one's immune system is weakened or
compromised.
Normally everybody has some particles of these
tuberculosis bacteria inside the lungs as a result of exposure to those
who have it; but they are harmless because the body's soldiers are able
to keep them in check and prevent them from causing any health problems.
The germ remains within the lungs for several years and the individual
is not even aware they are there.
The Relationship?
It must
be clearly understood here that HIV/AIDS does not cause tuberculosis and
that Tuberculosis does not also cause HIV/AIDS. The relationship
between them is that, like we said earlier on, when an individual who
has been carrying this bacterium for years contracts HIV, his immune
system or body soldiers are destroyed by the HIV virus and that makes
the dormant bacteria to wake up and suddenly become harmful to his
health.
If the individual has also had the bacterial infection
before contracting the virus, the condition can also become worse
because the soldiers that should have aided his quick recovery are
destroyed by the virus. As a result, the individual's condition may
depreciate so fast.
Common signs and symptoms
The person who
has tuberculosis may have some common signs and symptoms with one who
has HIV but they should never make us arrive at conclusions until
diagnoses are made by a competent medical doctor. Some of these common
symptoms include but are not limited to the following:
1. Loss of appetite
2. Loss of weight
3. Night fever
4. Weakness
5. Feeling of unwellness, etc
Since these signs are common to
both diseases, it is usually not uncommon to see people misconstruing a
tuberculosis sufferer for a HIV/AIDs patient. Though in most cases, the
bacterial disease comes as a result of immunity compromised by the
deadly virus, it must be noted that there are so many people suffering
from Koch's disease (The other name for tuberculosis) that are not HIV
positive. There are several other conditions that could reduce one's
immunity, including malnutrition.
Furthermore, HIV/AIDS makes
tuberculosis worse, more difficult to treat and increases the likelihood
of drug resistance. In the same vein, tuberculosis further endangers
the life of the HIV infected person and further weakens him and reduces
his immune system the more. The two cases are closely linked together
and anyone who already has either of them must do everything humanly
possible to avoid contracting the second so as not to make his life
totally unbearable.

Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the most feared diseases. This is
true even after years of known results that it is now no-more the
incurable monster. It's good news for those who are unaware of this fact
TB is completely curable through medication and sometimes surgeries.
But
is tuberculosis curable by managing one's diet? YES! What else can be a
better way to counter TB than following a healthy and
carefully-monitored diet?
That's why we bring you some food
materials such as milk, plants and vegetables which function as the
nature's army to render tuberculosis curable with recommended medication
as a major foundation.
The food stuffs that answer this question
in the best possible manner: "Is tuberculosis curable by diet
management?" are as follows:

Milk Diet- The main component that the body needs
when suffering from TB is calcium and what other source than milk is a
better option? For a proper milk diet to be followed, a fast of about 3
days which includes raw juices should be done. Sipping of raw or
unpasteurized milks slowly such that it gets diluted with the saliva
produces best results for digestion too. So when planning on a full milk
diet, the patient should have a glass of milk in every two hours in a
twelve hour window on the first day. On day two, a glass and a half
should be taken by the patient every hour. Gradually, the milk intake
can be increased until the patient takes a glass in every thirty
minutes. Doctors suggest 6 liters and 5 liters of milk everyday for men
and women respectively.

Pineapple- This fruit dissolves mucus and thereby,
quickens recovery. One glass of rich pineapple juice everyday is highly
recommended by the doctors. Pineapple juice was quite in vogue in
earlier times when tuberculosis was highly common.

Orange- One glass of orange juice with a pinch of
salt and a tablespoon of honey should be taken by a TB patient. The
saline action of this mixture lessens expectoration in the lungs and
protects the body from other infections.

Banana- The regular usage of bananas are very
useful in the tile cure of tuberculosis. Other than the fruit, the
plantain's juice is also helpful for the same. Experts believe that it
cures the patients in advanced stages with regular cough, widespread
expectoration and high fever within two months.

Mint- A teaspoon of mint juice mixed with pure malt
vinegar and equal parts of honey should be added to 120 ml of carrot
juice. This medicinal tonic when given 3 times a day liquefies sputum,
nourishes the lungs, increases the body's immunity and prevents the
ill-effects of anti-tubercular medicines.

Drumstick- Another concoction of drumstick leaves
in 200 ml of water heated up till boiling point. This soup should be
boiled for 5 more minutes. Then, it should be allowed to cool down. This
drink should be consumed in the morning every day. To improve the
taste, a pinch of salt, pepper and lime juice can be added.

Hope these food items are a plausible answer to the question: Is tuberculosis curable?

Symptoms of tuberculosis may not occur for some time, the
tuberculosis bacteria move so slowly that it can take many years for
some symptoms to show. It is only once this bacteria has got to the
lungs that any symptoms will start.
If tuberculosis only affects the lungs the symptoms you have may include;
Feeling tired a lot more than usual,
Mild to severe fever,
Decreased appetite,
Unexplained weight loss,
Getting breathless, this may get worse over time.
Coughing up phlegm and possibly even blood.
You feel unwell.
Because these symptoms are similar to those
you would suffer with a common cold it is important that if the symptoms
do not fade after 3 - 4 weeks that you see a doctor. Tuberculosis of
the lungs is known as pulmonary tuberculosis.
Sometimes
tuberculosis can spread to other parts of the body, this is known as
extra pulmonary tuberculosis. If a person has a low immune system they
are more likely to develop extra pulmonary tuberculosis, after the lungs
have been affected.
Tuberculosis can spread to other body parts such as;
Nervous system,
Bladder,
Reproductive organs,
Lymph nodes,
Joints and bones.
Digestive tract.
If tuberculosis has spread to other body parts you may experience symptoms such as;
Swollen lymph nodes,
Discharge seeping from the skin.
Aches and pains in the bones,
Slight curvature of the bone,
Decreased movement and feeling,
Bones may fracture easily.
Pain in the abdomen,
Loss of blood from the anus,
Diarrhoea
Stinging or burning whilst urinating,
Noticeable blood in the urine,
Frequent urination,
Pains in the groin area,
Mild to severe headaches,
Feeling and being sick,
Stiffness of the neck,
Mental changes such as memory problems or confusion,
Blurry vision,
Convulsions.
To accurately diagnose tuberculosis your doctor
may wish to refer you for the appropriate tests. These tests can vary,
so if the condition is suspected to be severe you may require more
detailed tests and examinations.
If you suffer from pulmonary
tuberculosis the test you may have is a simple chest x-ray, this will
pick up any changes to the lungs, samples of phlegm will also be tested
for tuberculosis bacteria.
If your doctor suspects that you may
have extra pulmonary tuberculosis, the test will differ from above.
These tests may include a CT scan, this is very much like an x-ray but
it is many different layers that are built up to show an accurate
picture of your body from the inside. You may be required to have an MRI
scan, this involves radio waves and magnetic pulses to build up a
detailed picture of your insides.
In some cases an ultrasound scan
may be needed, this is done with sound waves and can pick up on fluid,
blood flow etc. some simple test for tuberculosis include blood and
urine tests, or a biopsy done on a small amount of tissue. This will
usually be taken from the area that is affected by tuberculosis.
Symptoms
of tuberculosis are very similar to a cold, if you notice that the
symptoms of your cold just will not go away consult your doctor, he may
prescribe a course of antibiotics for a week and if the problem gets no
better he may then refer you for the appropriate tests to be done.
