They pack punches but have songs to heal your scars. Featuring a foot-stomping Kiwi girl and an Australian country boy (Tumut-raised!), We Mavericks make music that sounds like more than the sum of it’s parts. Lindsay Martin’s masterful strings and vocal meets Victoria Vigenser’s captivating voice and rhythms, wrapped in their crazy trademark tightness.

The organic blend of lyrical pop and acoustic folk vibes has echoes of soulful Americana and Celtic roots amongst the harmonies. With their gritty, evocative material they’ve been recently nominated “Best Folk Artist 2022” in the Aotearoa (NZ) Music Awards, were nominated the Australian Folk Music Awards "Artists of the Year, Best Duo/Group/Ensemble" 2021 and are recipients of the Troubadour Foundation Award 2020

James Bennett is an independent solo artist & multi instrumentalist from Newcastle NSW. A prolific songwriter & one who believes in writing for a purpose & not just for the sake of trying to hit the big time.

James grew up on an off the grid, isolated farm just inland of Byron Bay where his parents raised him listening to nothing but Bob Dylan.

He would sneak his dads guitar from the cupboard & imitate Bob Dylan, singing every word to every song. He even made a harmonica brace out of an old wire coat hanger so he could play the harmonica & guitar at the same time! James has been writing songs since he was in primary school but what really got him into music as a career was a chance open mic night that revealed to him just how addicted he would get to playing live.

Fast forward a few years & he was playing all over Australia weekend to weekend! James has now released four albums.

Over the years James has warmed up the stage for much loved Aussie artists such as Diesel, Jeff lang, The Whitlams, Wendy Matthews, Ian Moss, The Black Sorrows, Vika & Linda Bull, Mental As Anything, Rick Price, Rai Thistlethwayte & Dan Sultan.

This impressive list also extends to some well known international artists like Newton Faulkner (UK) & Canned Heat (USA)

Synthotronica is the alter-ego of composer and multi-instrumentalist Ania Reynolds who combines fat beats with fatter synths and live baritone sax with the occasional triangle solo. Former Musical Director of Circus Oz and Yothu Yindi and the Treaty Project, Ania has played with the likes of Femi Kuti and Toni Childs, and has toured the world performing her original music across five continents. Her live performance has been described as a ‘stunning display of musicality’ (Nicole Precel, Sydney Morning Herald 2019), and Synthotronica has brought her infectiously vibrant stage presence to the likes of Tollwood Winter Festival Munich, Karnidale Circus Festival, The Melbourne Planetarium, Moomba, Renaissance Festival, and Honk! Festival, Club Geral and the Cantagalo Favela in Rio de Janeiro. She combines her passion for live performance, world music, electronic beats and bari sax to create a high-energy set with one thing in mind - to make people dance!
Since her debut live performance at the Melbourne Planetarium for Party Beyond 2019 combining original electronic music with bespoke Planetarium visuals, Synthotronica has gone on to perform around the world and delight audiences with her sparkling stage presence. A veteran of the stage and the Melbourne live music scene, Synthotronica combines her passion for electronic music with her love of world music and making people dance. Afrobeat, wonkstep, glitch-hop, dub/reggae, Cumbia, Ethio-Jazz, Steampunk Swing and more all feature in her original brand of sonic mayhem. From nightclubs, favelas and street festivals in Rio de Janeiro to balconies in Brunswick, she is equally at home performing anywhere there is a crowd ready to listen and dance, from festival stages to music venues to parties to street performances, and is a regular at many live music venues in Melbourne. She released her debut album UFORIK in 2019, with track DAFNE a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition.
We're thrilled to welcome Synthotronica to the brewery stage for the first time on Feb 19th. What goes better with a rock and roll show than a frosty delicious brew in a can? Nothing!

It's no surprise that these guys jumped at the chance to perform at Winter Bites, an event that's been created to support the communities of the Dunns Road Bushfire, they have that down to earth, happy to help attitude that you wouldn't expect from a band who's collected 10 Aria awards over three decade.

A lot of work went into perfecting the You Am IPA. Apart from the cool name (right?!), there was a lot to think about when coming up with a brew that captures the essence of Aussie Alt Rock, played loud. We packed in heaps of hops to let you know you're living, but then mellowed with Voyager Craft Malt so you can actual drink it without getting smacked in the face with the bitters. We think of it as a beautifully balanced melody, layered with some awesome lyrics and guitar solos.

Enjoy the You Am IPA paired with great rock and roll, played loud.

You Am I are currently touring their latest album "The Lives of Others", you can catch them perform live at any of these places.

Great live music is almost as much a part of TRBC as great craft beer (almost!) We’re so passionate about it that we’ve brought over 150 live music shows to the brewery since 2018 – for a little town that’s pretty awesome.

We’ve had Shannon Noll, Catherine Britt, Andrew Swift plus tribute shows including the Beatles, Elvis and AC/DC. We also take our role in promoting awesome local talent really seriously.

An often-overlooked part of putting on great live music is the need for good quality sound gear. For us, this has been a challenge since day one as it wasn’t something we could fund as a small business trying to make ends meet – these things can be more expensive than we thought.

That’s why we were so excited late last year when we received funding from the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications to buy our own, on site, PA system. This means we can now attract more great live acts and not have to burden them with carrying around their own equipment. We can also welcome in bigger acts who need a more professional set up.

The new PA comes at the perfect time for us as we plan to move to our new venue with its purpose built entertainment space. It means we can continue to keep great live music coming to Tumut and make a space for our talented locals to get the experience and exposure they deserve.

Thanks to Better Music in Canberra for taking such great care of us, they even let Tim win the arm wrestle 😉

To catch some of our awesome live music coming up at the brewery keep an eye on our events blog or calendar.

WE'RE MOVING !

We need to grow, make more beer, employ more people and accommodate more visitors - we can’t do that at the current site.

Where to?

194 Adelong Road. Our new location is about a K down the road away from our current location (towards Adelong). It is a 6,000 square metre site overlooking the valley. We’ll be renovating an existing truss shed into a bar and restaurant with a dedicated space for events and functions.

We’ll also have an outdoor dining area and almost 100 car parks compared to our current 17. A new purpose-built shed will be constructed to house the brewery with our additional tanks, coolroom and storage space and hopefully our own canning line.

Why We’re Moving

Long story short, we have outgrown the site we are occupying at present.

For those who have followed us for a while, you will know that the tyre service has never been the ideal space for the brewery due to its size and structure. While the shed is in a great spot on the main intersection into Tumut and the charm of the old tin shed is great for atmosphere, it’s not so great for making and storing craft beer.

As our production has increased we have gradually run out of room for storage and more importantly for additional fermentation tanks. We have also started to run out of space for patrons, particularly on busier weekends. While we can utilise the brewery shed for overflow seating and events, this is not practical every weekend due to the fact that we are constantly brewing and packaging beer more frequently. It makes planning for events difficult as we’re constantly working around the brewing and canning schedule.

Will it work?

We know that moving the brewery from its current space is risky, we know that the location now is great and we’ll be taking a chance on the new venue but we are confident that the advantages that come with the new location outweigh the perceived location disadvantage.

Many people thought we were crazy when we opened the current venue and we knew it was a risk then, but we believe in the vision of the brewery and have been blown away by the support of the local community and region.

We are extremely aware of the fact that some of our patrons walk here from the caravan park and nearby accommodation and as such will be providing a courtesy bus. Our partnership with the local taxi company will also continue.

When?

Our Development Application with council has been approved and we are nearing the approval of a Construction Certificate. Although we'd hoped to be operating from the new site this side of Christmas, it is more likely that we won't move until the second quarter of next year. We will keep you posted.

Thanks for your support

We have the opportunity to grow thanks to the ongoing support of our family, friends, suppliers and patrons/customers. We can’t wait to share the next stage of the TRBC journey with you and hope that you will join us for the ride.

So what exactly is a hard Seltzer you ask? The short answer is an alcoholic sparkling water but here's a little bit more to them than that.

While some Seltzers really are just a spiked soda water the ones your seeing your favourite brewers (*ahem*) making use the same natural fermentation techniques as beer making to create the alcohol. These are usually flavoured with natural fruit flavours to add to them.

The Tumut River Brewing Co hard seltzer, "I'm Blue Da Ba Di Da Ba Die Berry... + Coconut" is a seriously refreshing drop. It's back with Blueberries and Coconut to give it a real summer taste but is crystal clear and light to drink. The seltzers are generally no sugars and low carb so they're also great for those New Years Resolutions ;)

What better way to treat Dad this Father's Day than with good music and great beer at TRBC.

With special act We Mavericks delivering up some wild folk straight to the wild folk of Tumut, we're thrilled to see what the bring to the brewery. Known for their traditional rootsy Americana music and harmonies, the duo have been nominated for "Best Folk Artists 2020" in NZ and are winners of Australia’s Troubadour Foundation Award 2020.

Come down in the afternoon and take in the music, then relax for the evening with great beer and delicious pizza.
