What are Uninstall Errors?

Most of us download the latest applications and tools to our PCs. After downloading when we find that the application is not useful as we thought, the first thing we do is, clean up the desktop by uninstalling the downloaded application. Generally, we use the uninstall feature of the operating system. Right after uninstalling, we sometimes face uninstall errors. The uninstall feature with corrupted or damaged parts cause these errors most of the times.

How To Fix Uninstall Errors?

There are several ways to fix uninstalling errors. Downloading the latest version of the application is the simplest method for you to solve these errors at home. Then, enlist the uninstall feature of the latest version of the downloaded software application. Using the add/remove option, you can remove these errors.

Using RegCure is the best alternative for you to remove the bits and pieces of the uninstall software application from your computer. It helps to ensure that you have successfully done with the proceedings. RegCure is a reliable and high-end registry repair tool. It not only removes uninstall errors but also prevents them from occurring recurrently.

Warning: editing the windows registry manually can be a daunting and risky task.

Uninstall Error 1324

A typical one among uninstalling errors is Error 1324. It can occur when you install or uninstall software. If the path to a folder on your desktop contains an invalid character, it refers to a problem with the shell folders.

You can manually solve the error by correcting the path for the application through the modification of the registry and by resetting all shell folders in the registry. Both these steps require you to edit the registry. Two registry keys are there in Windows XP and Vista:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders

Error 1404

Error 1404 is one of the common uninstall errors, when you remove software. The ‘xxxxxx’ refers to a registry key. Deleting the registry key becomes a problem due to insufficient privileges. Deleting the registry key after changing the access rights for it is the manual solution to this error.

Other Errors While Uninstalling

You can reinstall the problematic application and uninstall it afterwards to address uninstall errors in case there has not been any change in the PC configuration. Reinstalling and then uninstalling can fix any uninstall errors in the registry paths.

If your operating system is integrated with antivirus software, it requires adequate access rights for installing as well as uninstalling antivirus programs. Error 25002, which occurs when you uninstall Norton Antivirus software, is a common example of an uninstalling error.

This post will discuss what is a spyware and how to remove it. One of the biggest threats to Internet is Spyware. It wrecks havoc when it attacks a computer system. The origin of spyware dates back to the 1990s, when it first appeared. It is mainly caused by files and programs uploaded from the Internet, which are the carrier of malicious files. It is hard to tap on the files, since they are bundled with applications that you download to the computer.

The damages caused by spyware

Spyware does many damages to computer files, as they are difficult to locate. They are embedded into a computer system and are installed in complex ways.

Spyware has the power to retrieve your entire personal data. It can encrypt your password and steal your bank accounts, credit card number and passwords. The worst thing is that, it invites some unwanted guests like some kind of software, without your consent that slows down your computer.

Spyware also hijacks your browser and lead you to different websites. It is quite scary as a spyware can tamper with the security settings of your computer. Therefore, it is essential to get hold of good spyware removal software, such as XoftSpySE (Click Here to download a Free Scan).

Spyware removal tips

Spyware removal software can be very useful in fighting the odds of spyware

Always be cautious when downloading software from public sites (such as torrents), since they often carry spyware

Be aware of various rules and regulations before jumping into unfamiliar sites. Those with dubious contents should be judged prior to accepting it

Pop-ups, Java, ActiveX are sometimes full of suspicious contents. Set up the browser settings to make sure that no spyware will tread the system’s path

However, to be on the safest side, install anti-spyware and anti-virus software and do not forget to keep them updated

When you are downloading something from the Internet, go through the terms and conditions. Check if they include any provision that gives authority to the software publisher to install unwanted programs

Hopefully, this post will clarify what is a spyware and how to get rid of it.

The ccsvchst.exe is an executable file, which is part of Symantec Service Framework from Symantec Corporation. This executable file becomes a part of your computer system when you get Norton products installed like Symantec Security Technologies and Symantec Event Manager.

The file is contained in a subfolder in the “C:\Program Files\Common Files” folder. It is common to find a ccsvchst error in your system.

The ccsvchst.exe error

On going through the Internet, I found that one of the most known errors is the ccsvchst.exe application error. The ccsvchst.exe application error actually occurs during the shutdown of the system and the system startup. Sometimes this file takes up a lot of CPU usage and I experienced this while working on the computer.

Another cause for the ccsvchst error is the presence of a bug in the Norton products, such as Norton 2007. In the latest Norton version, there are options for debugging the error. To get Norton products free from the bug, you have to run the Live Update utility. Doing this, I was able to install the latest patches for my Norton product and get rid of the error.

In case, your Norton product is already updated. You can get it uninstalled by using the Windows tool “Add or Remove Programs”. The steps you need to follow are:

Go to Start and select Control Panel

Hit the Performance and Maintenance link and then go on to select Add or Remove Programs

Choose your Norton product from the Currently Installed Programs list and then go for the Remove option

Continue the process for all the Norton products and then restart your computer

After running the Remove option, I got a RegCure scan done, as this ensured that there are no leftover entries in the registry. If there are, remove them to have complete un-installation. Reinstall your Norton product after you are done with all these actions.

If there is no Norton product installed on your computer and you are still experiencing a ccsvchst error in your system, then you can blame it on the PC being infected with spyware. Fix it with an appropriate anti spyware program, such XoftSpySE.

The DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL or Stop 0×000000D1 error message indicates that a driver or part of the Windows operating system tried to access pageable memory using the kernel process IRQL that was too high. This error is usually associated to a device driver or software program installed on your computer.

What is DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL?

IRQL stands for Interrupt Request Level. Computers use interrupt requests to handle a variety of hardware operations. Devices such as video cards, sound cards, and keyboards can all send interrupt requests to the processor. For instance, when the sound card needs to run a process, it sends an interrupt request to the processor saying, “Hey, wait a moment, let me do my job!” The processor then interrupts its current process to let the sound card run its job.

The higher the IRQ of a device, the longer it has to wait before its request is processed. For instance, a device with IRQ 1 will get priority over a device with IRQ 14. When two device drivers share the same IRQ, a system crash with a DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL message can occur.

Causes of Stop 0×000000D1

Stop 0×000000D1 error might show at regular intervals, or in connection with some other event. Every so often a Stop error may emerge to be entirely random. If a Stop error identifies a driver, the problem may not be the reported driver, but other hidden errors. In brief, a Stop error can be a indication of some other problems. The real challenge is to discover the origin of the cause.

The error can be caused by many things, such as:

Installing low quality or incompatible drivers or system services

Bad or corrupt hard drives

Damaged RAM memory, motherboards or power supplies

Damaged virtual memory page file

Plugging in or a surprise removal of a USB device.

How To Fix DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL?

Restore Windows to an earlier restore point

If you are not able to boot Windows due to this error, you have to boot Windows in Safe Mode and restore Windows to an earlier restore point before you try any of the other methods mentioned below.

Click the following links for information about how to boot Windows XP or Windows Vista in Safe Mode.

Click the following links for information about how to restore Windows XP or Windows Vista to an earlier restore point.

Install the most recent Windows service packs

You will avoid a lot of Windows errors when you have the most recent Windows Service Packs installed on your computer. Visit http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com for the latest Windows updates.

Download and install the most recent hardware drivers

Did you recently install new hardware or software? If so, this will help out a lot when troubleshooting DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.

If you recently installed a new driver, remove it. If you recently updated a driver, try to roll it back to an earlier version. If this resolves the Stop 0×000000D1 error, you should contact the manufacturer about a possible update.

If you or a software program recently installed a system service, try to disable or uninstall the service.

Install the most up-to-date drivers for any recently installed hardware device. If you have not installed any new hardware, check if you have the most recent drivers for the following devices:

Video card

Network card or router

Any external or removable disk drive

Damaged memory

If you have installed new or extra memory into your computer, you should remove it to verify that it is not the cause of the Stop 0×000000D1 problem.

If after removing the memory the problem disappears you have either damaged memory or it is incompatible with other currently installed memory.

If you have not installed any new memory in your computer it is also possible that the current memory is damaged. To test your computer memory you can do a web search and find several software programs designed to test your computer’s memory.

Damaged virtual memory page file

If you are still experiencing an DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL or Stop 0×000000D1 error after following above mentioned steps, then there is a possibility that the virtual memory page file is damaged due to improper shut down. To fix this problem follow the below steps to reset your virtual memory page file.

Click “Start”, and right-click on “My Computer” and select “Properties”.

Then click the “Advanced” tab and the “Settings” button under Performance.

Click the “Advanced” tab and click the “Change” button under Virtual Memory.

If you have a custom setting write these numbers down.

Select “No paging file” and then click OK until all windows are closed.

Restart your computer.

Click “Start”, and right-click on “My Computer” and select “Properties”.

In the System Properties window click the “Advanced” tab.

Then click the “Advanced” tab and the “Settings” button under Performance.

Click the “Advanced” tab and click the “Change” button under Virtual Memory.

Click “System managed size” or correct the window to reflect your custom settings and then click OK until all windows are closed.

Restart your computer.

Are you sick and tired of a slow computer? Does your PC after running for a certain period, slows down? There may be several reasons that slow down your computer system. The reason can be too many downloaded files or programs that you have installed in your computer.

At the end of the day, you want to know the reasons responsible for a malfunctioning computer.

Reasoning out why a computer is running slow

Poor performance of a computer is sometimes due to programs that interfere with the file system. These programs are installed automatically without your knowledge or consent. These applications are generally spyware programs and should be prevented from getting inside your computer.

A corrupted Windows Registry triggers slow computer performance. Since, it holds the authoritative position of the master control in the entire operating system, therefore compacting, cleaning and optimizing the registry with a registry cleaner, such as RegCure, is very important.

Fragmentation of files may be another reason for slow functioning of your PC. Sometimes, the files and folders get scattered into pieces all over the hard drive. This fragmentation of files on the drive slows down the functioning of your computer system.

The more you download and install programs in your computer; the more applications are added to the Windows start-up folder, which affects your PC’s start-up performance.

Just like spyware, a computer virus disturbs the functioning of a computer. Instantly your emails, files and folders are infested with the virus and this decreases the performance of your PC.

Free the hard drive from clogged up space. This will bring a dramatic improvement to the computer speed. This can be done by eliminating some of the old documents that are no longer in use.

The remnants of uninstalled programs slow down your computer system. The Windows operating system gets confused with these remnants. They block up the PC’s core system.

Poor security software installed on a computer take a considerable portion of the system resources and memory. This can slow down your PC.

The page file or virtual memory is the temporary area of the memory that the computer uses to move files. If the page file is too small, the system will not have enough room for the operating system to function efficiently.

Having not enough internal memory can make a difference in speed. Adding memory can be one of the ways to speed up your computer.

An I/O Device Error happens when Windows XP or Vista, is not able to perform an Input/Output action (such as reading or copying data) when it is trying to access a drive or disk.

An I/O error can occur with different types of hardware devices or media, such as:

External hard drives

SD cards

USB flash drives or pen drives

CD-Rom or DVD drives

CD or DVD discs

Common IO Error Messages

The most common IO error messages and codes are:

“The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.”

“Only part of a readprocessmemory or writeprocessmemory request was completed.”

I/O Error codes: error 6, error 21, error 103, error 105, error 131

Causes of an IO Device Error

I/O error issues might occur for any of the following reasons:

Windows is trying to use a transfer mode that the hardware device cannot use.

The hardware device that you are trying to access is damaged or defective.

The hardware drivers are damaged or incompatible.

There is a connection problem, such as a bad cable.

The CD or DVD disk that you are trying to access is dirty or damaged.

First Steps to Resolve I/O Device Error Problems

Before you continu you should first perform the following steps:

Restart your computer, and then try to access the drive or disk again.

Use a cleaner disc to clean the disk.

If you have another computer available, try to access the data on the drive or disk with the other PC to confirm that the drive or disk is not damaged.

If you do not have another computer available, try a different disk to make sure that the problem is with the computer and not with the original disk.

If the problem is fixed and you no longer get the error message, you are finished. If the problem remains, continue to the next paragraph.

How to Fix I/O Device errors?

There are several solutions that you can use to troubleshoot and try to fix an I/O errors. Try these solutions in the following order:

Solution 1: Make certain that all cables are connected correctly

If the drive is an external drive, make sure that the cable that connects the computer to the drive is functioning correctly. If the cable fails, the drive will not work correctly. If you have another cable, try to use it, and also try to attach it to another (USB) port.

Note Changing cables for an internal drive for a desktop computer is recommended only for advanced computer users, because there are many internal items that can be easily damaged. You should not try to change cables inside a laptop or portable computer.

If above solutions resolved the issue, you are finished. If this did not resolve the IO issue, continue to solution 2.

Solution 2: Start the computer in a clean boot state

Try to perform a clean boot of your computer to determine whether a program or driver is having a conflict with the drive. Click the following links for more information about how to configure Windows XP or Windows Vista to start in clean boot state.

If a clean boot fixes the problem, there may an incompatible program or driver on your PC. For more information, click the following links for more information about how to perform advanced clean-boot troubleshooting in Windows XP or Windows Vista.

If this solution fixed the problem, you are finished. If this solution did not resolve the I/O problem, go to solution 3.

Solution 3: Change the transfer mode for the drive in IDE Channel Properties

If the transfer mode for the drive was changed or is incorrect, Windows cannot transfer data from the drive to the computer. You can fix this problem by changing to the correct transfer mode. To change the transfer mode, follow these steps:

Click the Start button

Right click My Computer

Select Manage from the resulting menu

In the Computer Management window, select Device Manager

Expand IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers. A subset will open, listing the different IDE ATA/ATAPI channels for the computer.

Right-click the channel where the appropriate drive is connected, and then click Properties. Typically, this channel is Secondary IDE Channel.

On the Advanced Settings tab, select PIO Only in the Transfer Mode box for the device that represents the appropriate drive. Typically, this is Device 0. Then, click OK and exit all windows.

Test the drive.

Warning: Do not change the Primary IDE Channel, Device 0, because this is typically the system disk. Changing this transfer mode setting may cause the computer to operate incorrectly or not at all.

If the problem is not resolved after you change the transfer mode for the secondary IDE channel device 0, the drive may not be located there. Use the same procedure to change the transfer mode back to DMA if available. Then, repeat steps 1-6 to change the transfer mode for IDE devices in the following order until the issue is resolved:

Primary IDE channel, device 1

Secondary IDE channel, device 1

After you change your settings, make sure you restart your system so that the computer recognizes the changes you have made. After you reboot, check the settings to make sure they are in effect. If they are, your device should now work properly.

If this solution fixed the I/O error, you are finished. If this did not fix the problem, try solution 4.

Solution 4: Check the status of the device in Device Manager

You can check the status of the drive in Device Manager to ensure that the device driver is working properly. If there is a hardware problem or a software conflict preventing the device from working properly, usually Device Manager will identify the problem. Click the following links for more information about how to manage devices in Windows XP or Windows Vista.

If this solution fixed the problem, you are finished. If this did not fix the problem, go to solution 5.

Solution 5: Contact the hardware manufacturer

Visit the website or get in touch with the manufacturer of the hardware device to find out whether there is a firmware or a driver update available for download.

Other Solutions to Windows Errors and Slow PC Performance

The best thing you can do, to stop your computer from getting more error messages or slow down your PC performance, is to repair and clean your Windows Registry.

Tune Your PC recommends to run a Free Registry Scan from the multi-award winning registry repair tool, RegCure. RegCure cleans, repairs and optimizes the Windows Registry in under 2 minutes.

In today’s IT-dependent world, provision of data recovery is of utmost importance. Formally, the term data recovery refers to recovering data from secondary storage devices that are not working properly or are damaged due to some reasons. Often, the process of computer data recovery refers to data being recovered from storage media such as hard disk drives, tapes, CDs, and RAID (Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks). Data recovery is necessitated primarily due to two reasons:

Physical damage to the storage devices

Logical damage to the file system

In case of the latter, the files fail to be mounted on the operating system. Though it is theoretically a bit confusing, data recovery also refers to recovering deleted data for forensic and investigation purposes.

Hard drive data recovery may involve several things. Replacing parts of the hard disk may help in salvaging some damage. This may make the disk usable, but logical damage may still be there. Specialized disk imaging processes are available that can recover every bit of readable data from the hard disk.

Disk data recovery involves the following:

Removing the damaged PCB (Printed Circuit Board) and replacing with a healthy one

Replacing the damaged read-write head assembly with that of a healthy machine

Removing the disk platters of the damaged drive and installing them into a healthy one.

A combination of all these techniques

Disk imaging is necessitated when the data recovery process from a damaged disk fails. The damaged image is recovered and analyzed. The original file system is recovered after repairing the logical inconsistencies. Most of the damaged files can be extracted, though not 100% in most cases.

One of the best data recovery software programs is Data Recovery Pro. This program can bring deleted email messages and their attachments back to life. Data Recovery Pro can also retrieve lost files from many peripheral storage devices, such as your USB stick, iPod Classic, iPod Shuffle and iPod Nano. Another feature of Data Recovery Pro is the ability to restore (partial) files from recently formatted or partitioned drives and bad sectors. Click here to download a Free Scan of Data Recovery Pro.

Other Solutions to Windows Errors and Slow PC Performance

Many computer errors are usually caused by corrupt or missing Windows Registry data after removing or installing programs. The Windows Registry is the engine of the Windows operating system. Without it, Windows would not be able to run.

When you install and uninstall software the Windows Registry gets overloaded with “junk” information, which can cause errors and slow down your PC performance.

The best thing you can do, to stop your computer from getting more error messages or further registry corruption, is to repair and clean your Windows Registry.

Tune Your PC recommends to run a Free Registry Scan from the multi-award winning registry repair tool, RegCure. RegCure cleans, repairs and optimizes the Windows Registry in under 2 minutes. And because it is an user-friendly tool, you don’t have to be a PC geek, like us.

Let us face it – The problem of identity theft is a rising concern for almost every computer user. This problem is on the rise as a threat to your security. I think it is better to prevent identity theft with a heavy hand than to suffer far-reaching consequences by falling victim to it.

How to prevent Identity Theft

Fortunately, there are several measures of identity theft prevention for you to ensure the security of your identity and valuable personal data. Using a quality shredder to shred the documents containing credit or bankcard account numbers, social security number and other valuable information is one of the simplest measures against identity theft. A shredder is a powerful tool for preventing identity theft.

There are numerous inexpensive and convenient measures to choose from, when it is a serious matter of protecting your personal data on the Internet. Installing a quality spyware and virus scanning program , such as Anti-Virus PLUS, on your computer can arm you against identity theft. You need to keep them updated. The offer of virus and spyware protection along with high-speed internet access from internet service providers is a better option for your identity theft protection if you are a novice with computers.

How identity theft is attempted

It is of immense importance for you to know that identity theft is attempted through certain emails. These emails are referred to as phishing. A phishing email is likely to come from your brokerage firm, bank, Credit Card Company or online auction company. The email carries a message for you to update your valuable information in order to avoid a disturbance in their services.

The phishing email contains a link to the fake website that is a replica of the original website of your bank or Credit Card Company. Any information that you load on to the fake website makes its way to the website of identity theft artists. Then they use the information as a tool to threaten your identity.

What you should keep in mind for identity theft protection

You need to have both common sense and knowledge for identity theft prevention and protection. Avoid clicking on a link of a phishing email that asks you for personal information. You should rather type the URL in the web browser when you want to visit the website. Always keep in mind that a request from a brokerage firm, bank or any such other financial institution asking for your social security number or password is highly unusual.

If you are in the doubt of the authenticity of an email that you have received in the name of a financial firm, always enquire about the firm to prevent identity theft.
