Interesting psychedelic sound going on here not unlike The Brian Jonestown Massacre which is a bit of a complement really. The backbone of the track is the warping flanged guitar which it works well with the spacey reverbed electric lead. Resting on top is the simple melody of the vocal and the organ-like guide line. Nice change of styles here by Hervé aka The Young Lovers. Modern lounge jazz territory with lovely jazzy snare rolls and cymbals stuttering over a bouncy kick. Massive diversion in the middle of the track taking it somewhere else entirely. Incidental eletronic effects and edits lend a real modern sound to the jazzy feel. Nice warm vibes. Been going mad listening to mixes recently, hoping to find a couple of gems to post up here. This one is top-notch stuff. It's a tough dance floor mix and powerful techno kicks off right away. No messing about. The first 50 mins of this is totally rocking, and then it gets turned up another notch. Great contrast between tracks and fluid grooves moving in and out. Energy multiplication factor 10. I'll be listening to this one for another while yet.. Mix!

I've always been a Massive Attack fan but for me this remix beats the original. What does it for me? It's the successful merging of the groove and 4/4 beat with the emotion and musicality of the vocal and samples, all coming together to create a unified, fluent whole greater than the sum of the parts. Minimal electro-pop made on melody and syncopation. At first listen there isn't much to give away the fact that this track is from 1983, that's nearly thirty years old. Well ahead of its time then, and I haven't heard much electro from that period which appeals to me as much. A bit of fattening around the edges and it'd fit right in today, though its real beauty is the emotion it manages to convey from the working of those early synths into a great Tune!

I was surprised and delighted to find that the creator of my favourite track of the last week or so is a fellow Irishman. Traipsing through the snow listening to loads of anonymous new music from all corners, but his track really stood out so I went looking for more info back at the gaff. This fat, epic, melodic chunk of gold was posted by Nialler9 and you can hear its goodness over there. Five star all the way, but I'm especially impressed by the production and mastering which is, in my opinion, perfect. Tune!

To be honest, not much has really stood out and grabbed my attention recently, until one sunny afternoon surfin the mp3 player this track totally grabbed me and sucked me in. It's a bootleg / sampling of The Searchers track Love Potion and it blends dance production, groove and the vibe of the original vocal brilliantly. To blend styles seamlessly with such success is a seriously difficult feat to pull off, but it has been accomplished and has to be heard! Luckily, Nicolas Jaar has released a whole EP free through Resident Advisor and there really is something in there for everyone, with this being my favourite. Tunes!

Continuing the recent chilled out, hypnotic vibe I've been enjoying.. It's the repetitive intro guitar which sets the stage for this one, the great full-bodied beat and round bass warming out the track nicely. This slow burning disco synth pop hybrid is all about the sparsity and the groove. Christabelle's sexy accent and sultry deliver add to the mystique. I have definitely heard this or an instrumental version before, either that or some sampling was used, I don't know. Nevertheless, its a great piece of work and I'd boogie to this vibe. Tune!
