There is a strong focus on details, from fresh orange slices by the pool to imported teas. Rooms are generally small — this inn in Villa La Angostura was built long before the McMansion-style hotel trends of late — but they make up for their limited size with character. Each room is different, and all have bright windows overlooking the lake; none have televisions. Floors are a bit squeaky on the ground floor.

The inn‘s restaurant is world-class. The spa next door doesn’t quite match the inn, and the gym should be moved out of the tranquil relaxation area, but the services are specialized and indulgent.
