Village Update

It has been some time since an update has been posted on the site but a lot has been going on over the last few months.
The National’ District and Local Elections have taken place that have created some changes to your Parish Councillors. Cliff Webb and Chris Harding have stood down and Jennie Forbes and James Russell have recently been co-opted onto the Council.
Thelma Mason has been voted in as Chairman and we all wish her success in this important role.
The Parish continues to work on the ‘Neighbourhood Plan’ which will hopefully be ready for the village to vote upon before the end of the year.

There are continuing negotiations with West Sussex CC with regard to the ‘Village Enhancement Scheme’ to improve pedestrian and road safety within our village.
The continuing road works at Felbridge is creating additional traffic through the village at the moment which is causing a lot of congestion and delays for local people. Let’s hope they are completed soon.

A recent burst water main in the village disrupted supplies to Crawley Down and a fire in East Street has caused considerable damage to a barn and destroyed 100 tonnes of hay.

The annual Village Fete will soon be with us later this month and we hope to see many of you supporting this years event.

The Council is once again looking to appoint one person to share the role of Steward to The Ark. Click below for more details of this worthwhile and rewarding role.

Spring is Here

Despite the village being well prepared for the snow and ice we once again appeared to have escaped any extreme cold weather spells this winter and have plenty of salt in stock.

The Parish Council have submitted the Neighbourhood Plan to Mid Sussex District Council for consultation and we hope to be in a position for a Village referendum in September which will determine the future for the next 20 years.

Its election time and your Parish Council will be voted upon at the same time as the General Election. Two of the existing Councillors are standing down this year so if you want to make a difference and represent Turners Hill into the future contact the parish Office for further information or click the MSDC website

Winter Warning

We have been lucky with avoiding the snow during this winter but it looks like we may have some during the next few weeks.
If you are travelling make sure you take notice of the check-list below before you set off.

EMERGENCY CAR KIT FOR WINTER

With the possibility of snow, it is recommended that the following items should be in your car should there be a severe weather warning:

Battery jump leads, First Aid kit, shovel, basic tool kit, tow rope, warning triangle, sleeping bag or blanket, extra winter clothing (cap, gloves, socks, boots, coat), some sealed snacks e.g. biscuits, chocolate bars and drink (2 Litres), ice scraper and de-icer, torch, high visibility vest, mobile phone and charger. If you have a screw in towing eye, know where it is and where it fits (back and front). Try to keep your fuel tank full in the winter so that you can keep the car running and heating on if you are stuck in the snow.

Village Update

Hello once again.
By now most of you within the village will have received information regarding the (Draft) Neighbourhood Plan which is available for consultation during the next 6 weeks to all residents and agencies.

A copy of the plan can be found online via this Web Site under the Tabs ‘Latest Documents’ and ‘Neighbourhood Plan’. Alternatively ‘Hard Copies’ are available at the Crown and The Red Lion Public Houses, The Ark, Turners Hill Park Office, St Leonards Church Entrance and Worth Abbey. Please check the times of availability in the ‘Residents Letter’ on the website which also provides additional information with regard to the process of the ‘Neighbourhood Plan’ and how you can be involved.

This is an important stage of the process and your comments and opinions are valuable to us to help finalise a plan for our village which we hope to have in place next year.

If you want to know more or have questions to ask there are two informal ‘Open Information’ sessions at the Ark on Tuesday 11th November 7pm – 9pm and Saturday 22nd November 10.30 – 1:00pm. Please feel free to drop in. Coffee and tea will be available.

Village Update

Hello again everyone.
A brief update of what is going on in the village during the next few weeks. Unfortunately East Street remains closed and continues to cause residents and others considerable inconvenience. On a brighter note the Parish Council has finalised upon a project to fit solar panels on the Ark roof to reduce our energy bills and to raise money via the FIT (Feed in Tariff). Installation should be commencing next week. Our fund raising activities for the Ark continue with a Jumble Sale on 4th October. (10 – 12) So if you have any jumble to drop off or need someone to come and collect please get in touch with the Clerk.
On Saturday 1st November we have David Battie giving us a presentation of ‘His Favourite Things’. This promises to be an entertaining evening of David’s experiences within the antique world for which he is famous. Tickets are on sale from the office at the Ark at £10 each which includes wine and ‘nibbles’.
We have also just been informed that an additional weekday peak hour bus journeys on route 82. (See details below)
The new earlier journey runs from the Crown at Turners Hill at 0725 to Haywards Heath. In the evening there are new journeys back to Turners Hill which leave Princess Royal Hospital at 1813 and 1912, which run via South Road and Perrymount Road, for the rail station. The new timetable can be found at http://www.metrobus.co.uk/82.

Web Site Update

Hello everyone.

Just over a year ago I informed you of the revised web site for the village which has received very positive comments as to its format and presentation. We invited you to make comments and to let us know if there were any errors or information that needed amending. Thank you so much for all your comments and input. We have just completed a number of changes and made it easier and quicker to add and update future information. New and amended photos will be placed on the site later in the week.

Hello everyone.

Welcome to our revised Parish Council Web Site.
Over the last few weeks we have modernised and changed the format of the site that will enable you to access the various sections quicker and easier and allows you to have access to up-to-date important information about what the Council is working on and the events happening in and around the village.
The links to other sites and attractions has also been improved and will continue to do so in the future.
