Collapsing Cricket dreams of a Troubled Nation

Not to be surprised, another interesting news is here. The invitation of Pak Cricket control board to play three Tests, five one-day internationals and one Twenty20 game in a series proposed for October has been turned down by Sri Lanka Cricket authorities. The troubled nation’s cricket dreams are really struggling.

Perhaps the Sri Lankan board would have given his consent for the proposed tournament, but the recent attack on Pak Naval base shut down all the chances. Where the defense forces and their equipments are not safe, even the utter fools in the world would never get ready to be the guest of that death zone.

Everybody would agree with me that perhaps it was the almighty, who rescued the Lankan team from that certain death circumstances on March 2009. After the attack, the only foreign team is Afghanistan, which has dared to play a tournament in Pak. As the Afghan team is a second level team in world cricket, it will make no difference to other team’s convictions about the risks in playing cricket there. The ongoing peace talks between India & Pak would have resulted in convincing BCCI to send his team to Pak. But, the death of Bin Laden and the upshots have ruined those plans already.

Not only the security concerns, but also the allegations of match fixing and the involvement of leading players in those cases have created distrust for them all over the world. I am sure that at present no teams in the world are willing to see Pakistan team against them in the gentleman’s game. So, it’s the time for Pak democrats and players to take necessary steps to keep cricket alive in Pak before it’s too late.

God, Please Make us Poor in every Next Birth

We are poor, better say beggars. We belong to backward cast. Poverty is our common mate. We stay in a mud house (hut). We suffer from starvation, Blah…Blah….. Blah…..

Feed us. Give us loans. Make our houses concrete. Give our children free admission, books and uniforms, Blah…. Blah…. Blah…..

Confused…..? I just want to say how actual poor are struggling to survive, but some prosperous poor are enjoying all the benefits of Government schemes that are made for improvement of poor and backward people.

A real poor doesn’t demand anything. He works, works hard to feed his family. He doesn’t know anything except hunger, doesn’t know what a government is, who the minister and who the prime minister is. No idea of education, employment and entertainment. Every moment he thinks about his family, their hunger and their troubles to survive. Poverty is a nightmare for him. He prays God not to be poor in his next life.

But, we want to be poor very poor, want to born in a schedule cast family in all our next birth. God, please make us poor, make us poor in our every next birth. We want a BPL cards. We want free education. We want free admission. We want reservation for us at schools, at colleges, at universities and at Government and private jobs. Poverty is our good luck and we are proud to be poor.

In simple, people are opting to be poor for ever now days. Because, Government gives them easy loans, rice at ` 2 per kilo, free electricity, free education, free uniforms, free cycles, free houses and employment guarantee.

Why should we work when we have access to easy loans, easy rice, and free education and free everything?

We have buildings, but still we lobby for an Indira Awas. We ride bikes have money for petrol, but we stand in a queue to get Government rice at `2. We have pan card & credit card, but we opt for a BPL card. We have TV with cable connection, but we expect a payment free power supply because we are poor. We invest in bonds and shares, but our youngsters expect a P.M.R.Y. loan.

We are well settled, but our cast is the certificate that we are poor. Our children have books, they use cell phones and computers still we want reservations for them at schools and universities. Because our cast certifies that we are less intelligent, less talented than others. We celebrate our prosperity by utilizing our poverty. We are proud to be poor and will remain poor for ever.

We are ever grateful to God, grateful to the Government and our administrative system, grateful to those utter fool poor for whom such schemes are made.

These are the reasons why poverty never vanishes from our country.

Friends, I am not a supporter of Pakistan. But the way this country fools the whole world, we must appreciate that. What ever the allegations may be, this country handles those allegations in such a way that the whole world get convinced that Pakistan is clean & clear. Take the recent case of match fixing. Most of the Pakistani players and even some board members are involved in the fixing scandal. But, Pakistan says it is a conspiracy.

Kopi Luwak is the most expensive coffee of the world. It costs $300 to $700 per pound or we can say `13,800 to `32,200 just for 453 grams (approximate). Now you can guess the cost for one cup of coffee.

The cost is very high because of the most unusual processing of these coffee beans. Unusual in the sense that the berries of Kopi Luwak are first eaten by an Asian palm Civet, a cat sized furry animal we can say it a cat. Then the beans are defecated by those cats are then collected, washed, sun dried, roasted and processed into an aromatic, less bitter drink.

We all know that “No politicians want to serve the nation, instead of that they are being served by the nation”. They enjoy the VIP facilities and treatments. When, the poor remains poor for decades, a politician’s wealth increases year by year.

We know India has a majority of poor and backward people. This helps the politicians to win elections by giving bribes to the poor. Once elected, they cleverly consume the funds allocated for the development of poor along with some corrupted officers. So, poor remains poor for ever which helps the politicians to win the next election.

Then whom should we vote? Who is that man he will change our system and is ready to serve our nation without concentrating on his personal benefits? Like many of us I don’t cast my vote when election comes. And I know there is nothing wrong in this. Whom should I elect, when all candidates are corrupted? If I vote for an independent candidate and he wins, he won’t be able to change the system. The independent candidates or the small parties can’t make a government. They support the major parties or sit at the opposition side. In both the cases, the public expecting a change get nothing.

Leaders say “young generation must come forward to join politics”. But, they never say that they are ready to give chances to new faces to win elections. Senior leaders are reluctant to leave their position and if they leave, they want to see their family members in that position.

God knows! what the future of our democracy is. But, I believe a time will certainly come when the public of India would throw these useless leaders out of our democratic system. And I am desperately waiting for those days to come, when I will cast my vote to a person who really wants to serve his nation.

Degree of coffee is often heard in Tamil Nadu. Many people don’t know what is degree coffee and why degree?

In olden days many households in far south, particularly in Thanjavur & Trichy districts of Tamil Nadu, used lactometers to measure the density of milk to find out whether it had been adulterated with water.

The higher the degree while seeing the lactometer readings thicker was the milk. Therefore it was unadulterated. Coffee prepared out of this thick milk was called “degree coffee”.

My Doggy is Impotent

Mrs. Khanna and her neighbor Mr. Sharma had a serious dispute among them. The reason was their pets. Both of them had a dog at home. Mrs. Khanna had a male Doberman while Mr. Sharma had a female Pomeranian. When the two dogs came across, the Doberman always scared the Pomeranian and tempted to attack her. Once, the matter became so serious that Mr. Sharma went to the court for justice. The reason was that the Doberman had attacked the Pomeranian and wounded her.

In the Court:

The Judge: Mrs. Khanna, your pet is charged with attacking the Pomeranian and also for attempting rape.

Mrs. Khanna: Rape??? No Sir, it was just a natural fight amongst the two animals.

Mr. Sharma: (Shouted) No, for my Pomeranian it was a rape. Sir, please have a look at my pet she is so shocked of the incident that she is not even taking food.

Mrs. Khanna: It’s not true sir (Mrs. Khanna Shouted). I know my pet for years; he can’t do such cruel acts.

Mr. Sharma: presented the medical report mentioning the wounds and injuries and also a report of a dog expert which unveiled that the Doberman was sexually aroused at the time of incident.

Mrs. Khanna: (Thought for a while, then said). “Sir, my pet can’t rape that Pomeranian because he is impotent”.

The judge: (Being surprised, asked…..) how could you be so sure that your Dog is impotent?

Mrs. Khanna: Sir, I always change my wearable in front of him. He watches me throughout, but never gets aroused......!!!!

Once, a scientist discovered the art of reproducing himself. It was impossible to find out the reproduction from the original. One day he came to know that the angel of death was searching for him. So, he produced a dozen copies of himself.

The angel got confused to find out which of the thirteen specimens before her was the scientist. So she left them all alone and came back to God. God advised her something. After some days the angel of death came up with a clever device. She said, “Sir, you must be a genius to have succeeded in making such exact clones of yourself. How ever, I have discovered a flaw in your work, just one tiny little flaw”.

The scientist at once jumped out of the clone bodies and shouted, “Impossible! Where is the flaw?”. “ Right here”, said the angel, as she picked up the scientist from among the clones and carried him off to the heaven.

On the way to heaven, scientist was thinking how fool he was!!!!

Mangu said: You can also play multi player games using 3G and watch live TV Shows. It’s amazing that I won’t be bored even while traveling.

Tingu said: Don’t forget the best feature of 3G, i.e. video calling facility. Now I can see my girlfriend from her bed room while talking on midnight.

Pingu: Remained silent for a while. Then said “I know what shall be the best use of 3G in India”.

My views on Dynasty in Democracy

Dynasty politics is now becoming a trend in our democratic system. The handover of government or party leadership from father to son or daughter, or spouse to spouse is common now days. Almost every political party is functioning around one family. Whether it’s Congress, Shiv Sena, or Laloo’s RJD the supreme leaders are belonged to one family.

Let us name some young faces who have become the political heir of their families. The popular name is Rahul Gandhi. Others like Raj & Uddhav Thackray, the Karunanidhis, the Scindias, Laalo & Family, the Gowdas of Karnataka, The Chautalas of Haryana, etc. are the best example of dynasty rule in our democracy. But the question rises in mind that why leaders insist their sons & daughters to follow him. And the most surprising is that while most of the young generation hates politics, sons & daughters of leaders are joining politics.

I think from their point of view joining politics is the only way to retain the social status & influencing power of their family. Leaders also think that if their sons & daughters don’t take the command of their party, the family will certainly loose the position and power. For example, take the case of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. As he has no one to follow his footmarks, people almost have forgotten him as a leader. I am sure many of us will not be aware of the fact that Mr. Vajpayee is still alive. Simply, this is the case of “out of sight out of mind”.

So, who wants his family to be forgotten by people? This is the main reason Leaders are bringing their heirs into politics. Second reason from my point of view is the “power of influence”. Politicians know better that if they leave politics, they will be caught by the law. As long as they and their family are in politics, they can keep the sword of law away.

Another reason is “Facilities” the politicians enjoy whether they are in ruling party or in opposition. Like, Mayawati will always enjoy the Z-Plus security even if she looses the next election. Who doesn’t like to enjoy these VIP treatments! Even they are aware of the fact that politics is the mother of all corruption, they jump into it. Because, in politics leaders are not bound to serve the nation, but the nation is bound to treat them as VIPs.

What Ever My Brother Likes

A very rich man died leaving his property entirely at the hands of his brother as the executor of the will. He left the will stating that his son was too young to manage the property and added, “What ever my brother likes let him give that to my son”. The clever brother wanted to take 900 acres of land for himself and give just 100 acres to his brother’s son.

The case went to the court. The defendant said as per the will, he could give to the young boy what ever he liked and that he could give only 100 acres. The lawyer for the plaintiff (the son) reading the will again, said the wording in the will “What ever my brother likes, let him give that to my son” meant only that what ever the defendant liked to have i.e. 900 acres should be given to the plaintiff. The case was decided in favor of the son.

My Grandfather Told Me A Story

Few years before, it was the time of summer holidays. I decided to go to our village to see my grand father there. Living there in the village with my grandfather and other relatives were always a good utilization of holidays for me. A village life is lot more different from urban livings. The simplicity and peace of life in a village is the reason why rural tourism is becoming popular in India.

Any way, I always feel lucky that I have my village where my grandfather lived. Most of my friends have no one in village, so that they have never been to there. Their conception about villages is there are backward areas with dirty roads, mud houses and uneducated people. For me villages are such a place where one can see and understand the nature better. The whole time I spent there I learnt some valuable morals of life.

My grandfather was a school teacher. He taught the neighborhood children in the evening in balcony of our village house. After completion of regular studies, grandfather used to narrate stories to the children, which I would never miss. One such story which I liked the most I am going to tell you.

A young man from a village completed his Graduation in Arts by giving tuition to the students near by his college hostel. As he was very poor, he struggled hard to complete his graduation. He was willing to go for further studies, but was unable to pay the academic dues. So, after completion he decided to job to make his ends meet. But, as an arts graduate he faced lots of difficulties to get a job. Thus, once he opted to go for an interview for a peon post in a company. Everything went good, but in the last round of talk he was asked for his Email-id which he had not any. So, he was disqualified just because of an email-id. He was a bit harassed, but didn’t give up. He planned that he would start a coaching center, as a full time work. He did so. After couple of years his dedication gave him the reward, he had 5 coaching centers in the city by then. Later he opened a residential school and soon his institution became a highly profitable organization.

He became famous as a successful businessman. He was counting his success by both his hands. Once, a press reporter wanted to take an interview of that businessman. The reporter interviewed him about his success. When concluding the interview, the reporter wanted the email-id of the businessman as a contact option. The businessman replied that he had not any email-id and he was not even using computers. The reporter exclaimed and asked the businessman how he could achieve all that success without having an email-id and computers. If I had an email-id I would have worked as peon in a company, the businessman replied with a smile.

This story had a great impact on me. I realized that one can achieve success with limited resources available to him. We all who are from upper middle and rich families live in a comfort zone. Our demands are fulfilled immediately. We always explain our failures by blaming resources or facilities we had. Without Computers, Internet, private coaching we feel like we are in a third world where learning and working is impossible to carry on. But, we mustn’t forget those people who have achieved success without any helping sources. There are students who secure more than 95% marks in exams. They belong to poor families where having a resource like a computer is out of question. Students having lots of textbooks and reference books secure miserable marks. But poor fellows unable to buy books secure higher marks just by going through the notes collected. So, from the day, I heard this story, which could be a fiction, but influenced me a lot. Now, I believe that if one has courage, dedication and passion for his work, he will certainly achieve success even with limited helping resources.

Jesus had faith and in spite of the accusation from the Romans and the Jews, he refused to compromise. Even when he was nailed on the cross, he did not abandon his faith in FAITH. Millions and millions worship him now.

“Faith moves mountains”

When you fail to achieve something in life you give up hope and faith. But you must know that failure is the indication of better success. As told earlier that every path towards success has hurdles to cross, you should look upon every adversity as an opportunity. This is not a philosophy but a truth.

You will be surprised knowing that Walt Disney had been thrown out of his job in a news paper, because he did not have enough imagination! If he had not been thrown out, there would have no Mickey Mouse, no Donald Duck and no Disneyland.

Alexander Fleming, the scientist who discovered Penicillin, was trained as a surgeon. He took up research in bacteria only because there was no vacancy for the post of a surgeon at St. Mary’s Hospital where he studied. If he had got the job of a surgeon, Penicillin would not have been discovered.

“You have not failed till you quit trying”

Once a person was driving to a near by town. On the way he observed a fly striking his head violently against the inside of the window shield of my car. The fly went on doing like this during the whole thirty miles trip. Throughout the journey all the windows were kept open and the fly could have easily flown out at any time. But he didn’t do that. Instead, he was just banging his head against the glass as though he could go through it!

Had he stopped, looked around, decided the importance of the circumstances, and made a plan; he could have easily come out and become free. But he ended up the thirty miles journey from where he began, aimlessly. Like the fly there are many people who know pretty well what they want. But they never organize themselves, decide the importance of the situation and make a day to day plan! They go on striking their heads like the fly against the small things, blaming their fate. You have to choose the right path by understanding the importance of the situation and a constructive plan to succeed.

“Thinking well is good. Planning well is better. Doing well is best.”

Believe that you are born at a good time. Bright days are ahead of you. Nothing can stop you to be an achiever. You might stumble on something, but that might pave the way for your success.

Joy & Sorrow

One night in ancient times, three horsemen were riding across a desert. As they crossed the dry bed of a river, out of the darkness a voice called ‘Halt’. They obeyed. The voice told them to come off the horse, pick up a handful of pebbles, put the pebbles in their pockets, sit on their horses and move.

The voice then said, “You have done as I commanded. Tomorrow at sunrise you will be both glad and sorry”. Astonished, the horsemen rode on.

Next morning, they put their hands in their pockets and found that a miracle had happened. The pebbles had been transformed into diamonds, rubies, sapphires, and other precious stones. They remembered the warning. They were glad & sorry – glad because they had taken some pebbles, and sorry because they had not taken more.

Unconditional Love

A story is told about a soldier who was finally coming home after having fought with enemies.

He called his parents on phone from army head office. Mom and dad, I am coming home, but I have got a favour to ask. I have a friend I would like to bring with me. “Sure” they replied, “we would love to meet him”. There is something you should know, the son continued; he was hurt badly in the fighting. He stepped on landmine and lost an arm and a leg. He has no where else to go, and I want him to come and live with us.

I am sorry to hear that, son. May be we can help him find some where live. No, Mom and Dad, I want him to live with us. Son, said the father you don’t know what you are asking. Someone with such a handicap would be a terrible burden on us, we have our lives. I think you should just come home and forget about that guy. He will find a way to live on his own. At that point the son hung up the phone. The parents heard nothing more from him.

Few weeks later they received a call from the army office. Their son was dead after falling from a building, they were told. The police believed it was suicide. The grief-stricken parents flew to Army office and were taken to the morgue to identify the body of their son. They recognized him but to their horror they discovered something they didn’t know. Their son had only one leg and one arm.

The parents in this story are like many of us. We find it easy to love those who are good-looking but we don’t like people who inconvenience us or make us feel uncomfortable. We would rather stay away from people who are supposed to be a burden on us.

Friend & Friendship

A true friend is:
A push when you are stopped,
A guide when you are searching,
A song when you are glad,
A word when you are lonely,
A smile when you are sad.

The word “friend” can not be exactly defined. For me, the person with whom we share our feelings, problems and happiness is our friend. A friend is such a person whom we can trust and have confidence that he or she will help us when we are in trouble.

Imagine our life without friends. It’s a feeling like we are in the next world, where we can not share anything with the people of this world. So, friends are the most important persons in our life. Life without friends is like a theater without audience, where there is nothing to perform, nothing to be criticized and no ideas for improvement. Then life is as dumb as a statue.

So, as usual we have friends and among them some are our best friends. But, do we know who is a true friend of us? A real friend is one who walks in when others walk out. That’s a friend who is ready to give us everything without thinking of returns.

There is a proverb as “A full purse never lacks friends” and this is very true in this age of time. To whom we have helped will be certainly grateful to us and will keep friendship. They will be our friends until we have the capability to help them. When we face some trouble, they will have some excuse to avoid us. People say that A friend in need is a friend indeed. But, I hope everybody of us have friends, who are friends in their need and are real selfish indeed. So, one must be aware of who is faithful and who is deceitful.

That’s a true friend who helps you in trouble, paves the way to success and of course loves you. The ultimate measure of a friend is not where he stands in moments of your comfort, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy. To measure a friend, measure his heart.

-It is a fine thread that binds two hearts that lingers through out our life and which never fizzles out.
