What happened to Apple?

Back in the day, I distinctly remember the warm thrill I experienced whenever I heard that Apple was holding a special event. I always ordered a Dominos pizza, and some chicken wings. My eyes were glued on to the photos as they passed by the live blogs. Every announcement rendered my screaming "Oh, my god", just like Janice from 'Friends'.

However, lately it hasn't been the same. There's no pizza. There' no enthusiasm. There's only a few reasons why I look upon Apple's events with a gloomy and unenthusiastic eye. Over time, nothing really big has been announced. Remember the announcement of the Unibody, anyone?

Probably I am expecting way too much for Apple. I expected a massive, sexier redesign for the Apple iPhone 5. But, nope, looks almost the same. It's less of the iPhone 5, more of iPhone4S S, if you know what I mean? The back look's pretty good though, but that's only one of those small things they tweak now and then.

Another probability is that I've just grown out of it. However, I'm pretty sure that's unlikely. I did see the iPhone 5 event. But, I just went to sleep in the middle. I was really disappointed.

All I can do now is hope that Jobs' Apple comes back. Yeah, sure, Apple's stock is at a record high of what, $700, making it a $600 billion+ company. For comparisons sake, the GDP of Thailand is $602 billion by PPP (2011). But as everyone knows, an Apple enthusiast doesn't really care about that.

What I really want is to get back the enthusiasm, and inquisitiveness that defined an Apple launch.

Hey guys, there have been a lot of rumors going on about the new iPhone 5. Or, this time what might be called the 'New iPhone'. The back panel has been leaked, which gives us a general idea about the phone. Enough text, here is the picture!

Whats that thing next to the camera you ask? It is a headphone jack. Yes, you heard me right. Some people think that the Apple logo looks a bit fake, so this cannot be completely be trusted, but hey, somethings better than nothing.

Anonymous, Indian government, and Operation India

On May 17th, the popular hacker group, Anonymous declared the 'Operation India', against the censorship and the blockage of torrent website by the Indian Government. They have hacked the website of the ruling Congress party, and the website of the Rajya Sabha, that is the upper house of the Union Parliament.

This is the message that was given by one of the videos.

I personally support Anonymous. The Indian government of the ruling congress party has been unable to put the corrupt behind bars, and those who already were in Tihar jail, have been released on bail, like Mr A Raja, whose corruption cost the state approximately 5 billion US Dollars.

WWDC 2012 - iPhone 5 rumors

As you probably have heard, WWDC 2012 was announced yesterday, and was sold out in less than 12 hours. This time, the WWDC 2012 will be focusing on iOS and Mountain Lion, but there always is, "One Last Thing..".

The iPhone 5 home buttons were on sale on TVC-Mall.com

There are many iPhone 5 rumors floating around. It's home button has already been leaked, and experts predict that it will utilize "Glass to glass" technology. That, in my opinion is pretty exciting. The iPhone 5 will be 15% thinner. It will use 4GLTE technology and just might have a 4 inch screen, that is, if we are lucky.

The iPhone 5 is the most rumored gadget currently, so it isn't wise to believe many of the rumors floating around. Hell, we might not even get 'iPhone 5', but the 'new iPhone', just like in the case of iPad. No one wants to hang around with a iPhone 12, or iPad 17 in the future. It just sounds.. out of place. There is a strong possibility that this would happen.

Could iPhone 5 be the "One Last Thing"? I think that is unlikely, given that the current iPhone, 4S was released in October of 2011. But, you never know Apple and its crazy marketing strategies.

So I think we can conclude, that the iPhone 4S will remain the "most amazing iPhone yet." for now.

WWDC 2012

WWDC 2012 was announced by Apple which was sold out in less than 12 hours. It will focus on the Apple software, namely OSX Mountain Lion and iOS.

It will be held in San Francisco from 11th to 15 June. There will be more than 100 sessions and labs with Apple engineers. The ticket cost was $1599.

How to download torrents

uTorrent is the most famous bit-torrent client

First of all, I would like to say that I DO NOT SUPPORT piracy at all, and torrents should not be used for pirating files.

Why are torrents preffered?

Torrents give you a faster download speed. If you have a slow internet connection, downloading a 100 megabyte file can be a pain. If youre internet connection refreshes, or something goes wrong, then all that you have downloaded, gets lost and you have to retry. However, with torrents, they save the files on the disk as it downloads. So, it you're on 99% and the internet goes off, you dont have to worry.

What you need to start downloading torrents

Before you get started, you need a client to download torrents. My favourite is uTorrent which comes for both Mac and PC.

Okay, now what?

After you have downloaded uTorrent, you have to select a torrent.

There are many website you can search torrents from. Some of them are :

Torrentz - is a search engine for torrents.

You can get to the website by clicking on their names.

The Rule

The Fundamental rule for selecting a torrent that will give you a good download speed is always select a torrent with maximum number of seeds. This is where most people go wrong, and start hating torrents because of the confusion they cause. The best way to locate a torrent with maximum number of seeds is by using sorting. You can do this on most of the websites by clicking on "Seeds" or "SE" or "S" after you have searched for the torrent.

MacBook Hybrid : iPad + MacBook?

A new rumor has been floating around that Apple might kill off it's MacBook Pro 17" following sluggish sales.

Apple might be releasing a hybrid Macbook of the MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and the iPad. This seems to be very interesting and is clearly pointed out by a patent that Apple recently filed.

The hybrid will be as powerful as a MacBook Pro and as portable as a MacBook Air. There is speculation that it might have a sliding screen, which would rest on top of the keyboard making it similar to the iPad, and then you can slide it out to make it a full fledged notebook PC. This is very interesting as it would induce a lot of competition from other competitors.

Some creative people also believe that this arrangement could allow you to switch between iOS and Mac OS X. Yummy!

Only time will tell what will happen, but in my opinion, a big surprise is due from Apple.

Agni 5 Missile

Agni in Hindi or Agnis in latin, means fire.

Yesterday, at 8AM, I was getting ready for school. Little did I know, on the East coast, the Agni was to be tested in seven minutes.

There has been a lot of hype in India about this missile, our first ICBM (Intercontinental Ballistic Missile). Last week, an article on China's military buildup was featured in The Economist. And then, I realized that India had become Worlds largest arms buyer in terms of the number. Maybe there is an arms race between India and China?

Anyways, people debated, on how we need to tackle difficulties like poverty and infrastructure on Indian news website, and ranting on the British aid to India on BBC. And I agree with them, there are countries where aid is much more needed than in India. But, the overall opinion was that the missile is needed such that India becomes more than just a regional power and can balance China's military rise. America seems to be backing it's strategic democratic ally, India, and calls for restraint.

However, there is a lot of confusion in the Chinese media. The media has been passing comments like, "India should not over-estimate it's strength", and on the next day, they say that the range for Agni V is not 5,000, but 8,000 Kms. People say this might be a move to prevent countries in Europe from selling arms to India. But here, we cannot say anything, they can be right or wrong.

A missile launch has made me understand many things about how things work here in Asia. China seems to be nervous, atleast the media does. The missile covers all of China. The test was successful, and will be in production in a couple of years. However, this has created many questions in my mind, some which even I dont properly understand.

This wasn't just a missile test, but India's entry into an elite club of nations, which exposed how India and China stand in Asia. These are just my thoughts.

Apple finally officially announced the release of the iPad 3, scheduled on March 7 in San Francisco. The event will take place at 10 AM, at Yerba Buena Center for the arts, reported by Loopinsight.

There are some rumors going around that it will have a better screen, faster processor.

OSX Mountain Lion

Apple formally dropped the words "Mac" from the name of its latest Operating System, OSX Mountain Lion, most probably because the Mac refers to hardware, and OSX is obviously an operating system.

Apple seems to integrate what they have learned from the iPad into the OSX, in an effort to make their products more uniform probably? When the Launchpad came to Lion, it seemed like a really big thing to many people, but not to me. I still use Snow Leopard, and I am happy. I do not think there are major differences between the SL and Lion. At least, not enough to make me buy it.

Coming back to the topic, Mountain Lion is coming out this summer. And most probably it will be sold through the Mac App Store. For people with very slow connections ( like me ), this is not really the best news.

RIM's Blackberry server in Mumbai

Yesterday, 22nd February 2012, news started coming in that RIM is finalizing it's servers here in Mumbai ( or Bombay ), India. Due to the 26/11 attacks, the government is trying to beef up the security all around Mumbai since the years. A new commando base of the NSG ( National Security Guard ) has also been setup.

It was seen most of the terrorists were using text messaging and Blackberry Messenger to coordinate attacks in Mumbai. The Indian government pushed for monitoring of BBM back in 2008, the year of the 26/11 attacks.

In 2010, RIM was just about to get banned, when they made certain promises to Indian government officials.

As much as 5000 Enterprise servers have been installed in Mumbai, and around 500 million users will be monitored. What do you know, the sarkar might be reading this too!

iPad 3 Rumor Roundup - Release and More!

As many of you guys know, iPad rumors are in abundance these days, as more and more people expect the release of the game-changing device. So, in this post, I would like to roundup many of the rumors that have been going on.

8 inch iPad 3
MacRumors reports that Apple might be working on a smaller iPad, an 8 inch version. Apple wants their products to appeal to everyone, so diversity is always good!

3D iPad 3

MacLife speculates that the next iPad 3 could give us some 3D magic, with head-tracking. Apple is definitely working on 3D, and this patent proves it. I also posted an article on the 3D iPad. Check it out! Click here.

Release Date - March 7 2012
Many reports suggest that Apple might be holding an event in March in which, it might launch the new MacBook Pros, and the iPad 3.

Better Display - 2048x1536
According to TechRadar, Apple might be working a brand new Display for the iPad 3. With dual-LED Light bar technology, it will have a Retina Display with a very nice resolution of 2048x1536.

Quad Core Processor
iMore said it can confirm that Apple will have a Quad Core processor, making it much faster. This is also a very good addition if they want to implement 3D technology ( See Above )

Price
iMore, also expects the entry-level iPad3's price to be around $499. If Apple 2 would be around, it might cost $399.

4G
PCWorld says, iPad 3 could use the LTE ( Long Term Evolution ) 4G technology.

iPad 2S?
Slashgear says the next iPad just might be called iPad 2S, instead of the expected iPad 3. Which would be quite a disappointment, in my opinion!

The website of the Central Investigation Agency (U.S) was recently hacked. The website is http://www.cia.gov.

Anonymous claimed responsibility. Anonymous earlier had taken down FBI's website. In their statement, it is said it was a Distributed Denial of Service attack.

This is what Anonymous said, which explain their motive and the method by which they carried out the strike.

Earlier today, the breathtaking Nikon D800 DSLR was released. It has a whopping 36.3 Mega-Pixel FX ( Full Frame) CMOS Sensor. Yes you read me right.

720p and 1080p HD video recording upto 30 minutes is available . It has a 8 cm display with a startup time of 0.12 seconds. That is 1/5th of a second! It has a magnesium alloy body and is 10% lighter than the D700.

Super earth discovered - "GJ 667Cc"

Are you one of those people who think about aliens ? Are we alone, or not? A new planet has been discovered which has been called 'Super Earth' (GJ 667Cc) , as it is 4.5 times as big as the Earth. It takes almost 28 days to compete an orbital lap around its Star.

This planet has been described as our 'next door neighbor'. This planet most probably contains liquid water and due to these conditions life is very much possible on this planet.

Many scientists have wondered, that if aliens do exist, they would have found us by now, given the amount of Clouroflourocarbons (CFCs) and other gasses in our atmosphere which are emitted by vehicles and industries and destroy the Ozone (O3) layer. So, many scientists believe they are avoiding us. There is speculation that they have abundant resources and they do not have anything they might want from our planet.

iPod Nano 7th Generation may get camera

As you can see from the photos, the leaked photos of the sixth gen- iPod Nano show that Apple might be trying to add a camera to the gadget. When the 6th generation was released, it did not have a camera. It was a hugh setback for many people as the previous generation had one.

Apple also filed for a patent for this camera.

Easy Minecraft Dungeon Mob Trap

Hey guys, if you come across a dungeon playing Minecraft, dont destroy the spawner, use it to your advantage. This tutorial will show you how you can make a very efficient Mob Experience and items trap, using a pickaxe, 2 buckets of water, and around 20 glass pieces.

The Final Product.

What is a Dungeon? A dungeon is a room where there is atleast one chest with one mob spawner in the middle. It looks like a blue cage with fire inside.

Zombie and Skeleton

Step 1 : Dig two 1 x 9 grooves along the length of the room ( one on each side )

Here is where you stand.

Step 2 : Place water ( using a bucket ) on first block in the groove. If you did it correctly, the water should flow through the groove and one block should be left. That is where you will stand and hit the mobs.
Step 3 : At the point where the water stops, right 1 block above it, put glass (on both sides).

Standing in the Groove.

Step 4 : Fill the glass in between the two glass blocks, and also 2 blocks above it, such that mobs cannot jumo out.

You're done. If you stand right behind where the water ceases ( 1 block ) , the mobs will be attracted to you and you can hit their feet.

Spider
In case of spiders, they can actually climb, so you need to cover the whole thing with glass till the top. Also, you will need 2x9 grooves, and spiders are 2 blocks in width.

That's it ! You should put a chest nearby to store the stacks of items!

After Apple, Starbucks coming to India.

India is a place of a billion people, a very huge market. India's middle class is growing and spending per capita is growing every year. Also, the Indian Government has allowed 100% FDI ( Foreign Direct Investment) in single brand retail, which allows foreign companies like Starbucks, Apple, Louis Vuitton and others to operate their own stores.

Starbucks has been trying to get into the Indian market for around 7-8 years now, and there is some good news for them. Starbucks have struck a deal with Tata Beverages ( an Indian company) to setup a new company - Tata Starbucks company. This is a very good news for Indians, like me who are completely bored by the Cafe Coffee Day stores ( also called CCD).

The first stores will come in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore, the three most populated metropolitan regions in India. They will come up in strategic locations like Airports.

Starbucks will open its first store in India by October-September and by the end of 2012, there will be 50 operational stores.

I am pretty excited for this!

Apple stores might be coming to India!

"Apple Inc. may open its own shops following the Indian government allowing full ownership of single-brand retail stores by foreign companies"

These words were said by the DIPP(Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, Indian Government.)

Indian government has recently allowed 100% FDI in Single-brand retail, paving way for Apple stores to come to India. According to the policy, and foreign brand must source atleast 30% of their total revenue from Indian companies. This will not be too hard for Apple in India, because there are many software companies in India from which 30% of total revenue can be sourced.

Apple currently has stores only in a few countries, including US, UK, China, Germany, France and Japan. India might soon join that club, very good news indeed!

Apple recorded a 3x rise in revenues from India this year. Apple products are currently sold in India by 'Authorized Resellers', and there is no store owned by Apple in India. Apple wanted to enter India in 2006 by setting up Customer Care Centers, but this was abandoned.

Apples store are characterized by glassy and unique designs, which reflects the design of their products.

Nikon's 36 Megapixel D800 Soon?

NikonRumors.com claims that the Nikon D800, the successor to Nikon D700 will be rolling out as soon as Feburary the 7th 2012. It claims that it camera will shoot a whopping, 36 Mega-pixel photos.

It is expected to cost as much as $4,000.

So, holidays are here!
As you guys may have heard in my recent update video, I have big plans for next year. I finally plan on showing my face due to popular demand, and also a room tour.

I am playing Assassins Creed Revelations now that my exams have ended, finally. I'll probably be putting up my views on it in a separate blog post.

I am visiting Macau and Hong Kong this Christmas, and will be taking my DSLR along. I plan on doing a lot of photography there and compile the good pictures in a video. I hope you guys like the idea.

Also, my dad's Bose SoundDock is now mine, as he has bought another speaker system. I have been using it for a couple of months, and also plan on reviewing it, even though its a little old. ( I guess more than 2 years)

And finally, as YouTube has released its new channel design, which I like a lot, as it is simple and easy to navigate, I will be completely redesigning my channel, probably throwing a little bit of blue glow here and there.
