Change a regular sports photo into something special!

Open your image.

Now, cut out the entire image you wont be using. This can be done using the pen tool, eraser tool, and/or magic wand.

Go to blending options, check Color Overlay, and set the color to black.

I ended up deleting some of the top of the net, and fixing that part later.

To fix the top, I added a circle for the basketball, made the lines white (which I will smooth out and fix later), and added the top of the net, I just used the ellipse tool for this, and drew in some extra net lines with the brush tool.

Now go to Layer > New Fill Layer > Gradient. Of course, you can do whatever colors you like however you like. These were my settings:

So it looks like this so far:

To make better basketball lines, instead of taking my pen tool and drawing them out myself, I found a picture of a cartoon basketball, deleted the orange parts with the magic wand tool, and did a color overlay to turn the black lines white. And there you have it, a perfectly smooth outline of the ball. I also lowered the opacity of that layer so its not as quite as bright.

Lets add a few more lighting effects. Select your silhouette layer, go to Layer > Add Layer Mask > Reveal All. Take a soft brush, whatever size you wish and lower the opacity. Brush on some light wherever you want.

You should have something similar to this:

Now, to do my lines on the sides, I first set my brush to just a pixel of 1, and a really dark blue. Next, I took my pen tool and made my lines. Then I clicked on the Path Selection tool right above the pen tool, and with my mouse I right clicked the line I just made. I went to Stroke Path, picked the brush, and checked the simulate pressure box.

I did this on the sides and one white line above the basketball.

Now I wanted to add text on the bottom. I needed to add some extra space to work on. To do this, go to Image > Canvas Size. I added a couple extra inches to the bottom:

I added my text. I used these text settings:

And I added a stroke and bevel and emboss.

And here is my final image:

You could also add a stroke:

Open your original image:

Delete background from image. I used the magic wand tool for this.

Next desaturate your image.

Control click your image to select it. Pick a brown color and go to Edit > Fill:

You should have this:

Use your Blur Tool just a tad to make it look a little less refined.

Ok now make some drips of chocolate with your smudge tool and paintbrush tool. Here was my first one:

I added more drops.

Now add these effects:

Drop Shadow:

 Bevel:

Satin: (Normally I skip the satin but it made it darker which I thought looked better)

Next we are going to add some text.

The text I used was VictorianD. And I added a drop shadow.

Then, I added a few extra drops to the text and surrounding areas.

I also added a stroke to the whole thing:

Thats it!

I liked seeing what it would look like on different backgrounds as well.

Give Your Mind A Jolt With This Coffee Cup Tutorial!

Lets start off Making the top of the coffee cup.

Make a rounded rectangle. (Mine is on black background so you can see it better)

Go to Edit > Transform > Perspective. Drag the top two corners inward.

Next, take your elipse tool and draw a thin oval right above your rectangle. Just move your oval down until you get the slighty rounded top like mine:

Ok, now take your rectangle tool again. This time, draw one on the bottom. And again, go to Edit > Transform > Perspective and drag the two top corners inward. You will get the basic shape, you can always go back later and tweak the shapes a little more to get them exact.

And once again, take your rounded rectangle tool and make a small one in between the two you just made. You can space them out to make them look right.

Merge the rectangle layers. Add the following Layer Styles:

You should have something simliar to this:

Now we will make the actual cup. Take out your rectangle tool again. Make a vertical rectangle, and again go to Edit > Transform > Perspective, and move the bottom two in:

Time for some color and texture, this is what I used:

You should have:

Put the two images together:

Now time to add some decortation and text to the cup.

First, Lets make another coffee cup, only this time it is a mug.

First, take your ellispe tool and hold shift to make a perfect cirle. Now take your marquee tool and make a selection of the top of the circle (you want it a little above the half way mark), cut this part off:

That will leave you with this:

Now take your elipse tool again and make a thin oval above the mug. You will want it a little bit longer than your mug:

Scoot it down to the top of the mug:

And again, take your elipse tool and make an even smaller oval “inside” your mug, this will be our actual coffee. (I made mine a dark brown)

Almost done with the mug. Now we just need a handle.

To make this easy, I used the elipse tool also. Create a small oval. Now with your marquee tool, create another small oval inside the one you just made, this will be the part we cut out. Just
make that oval and press delete. Now, move your circle over to your mug. See, we have a handle!

Merge your mug layer with your handle layer.

Now add some effects to that top oval of the mug. Use these settings:

Add these effects:

This is what you should have:

So just move your mug over to your other cup. Add some texture like you did on the first cup. Also, I took my dodge tool and went right down the middle to make it have a slight glare like the rest of the image.

Next I added my text.

Then, I made some drops. I drew out the drop with my paintbrush
and used these settings:

I also added a stroke to my cup.

And thats it!

Open your image.

If its not already a close up of the eye you will probably want to zoom in.

Take your Elliptical Marquee tool, and make a selection around the eyeball.

Since we don’t want the lid to be colored, take your Polygonal tool, hold the alt key, and make a selection around the part of the eyelid that you don’t want colored.

You will have just the part you want colored left:

Now that that part is gone, we can play around and color the eye. All you have to do is click the Create New Fill Or Adjustment Layer at the bottom of the layers palette. Next, go to color balance.

Next, adjust your colors. I made mine a pretty bright blue.

If you want it a tad more real looking, just change the mode to Overlay.

And thats it! Easy right? Here are a few more:

<img src="http://images.ientrymail.com/tutorialshift/drops/final.gif"/ width="300"/>

Open the image you want to create drops on, I picked a flower image.

Create a new layer (don’t duplicate layer, just new layer) and name it drops.

Now, what I like to do is just draw the first drop, and do all your settings before you make all of your drops so you can see what they look like.

So, take your paint brush and draw a basic drop shape, keep in mind that it doesn’t have to be perfect.

Now, add these settings:

On your layers palette, reduce the fill to 0%. Leave the opacity.

See your first water drop?

Next, go back and draw more of them. Some people draw the drops first before adding the effects but I like to see how they look as I am drawing them.

Here is my finished version:

Simple huh?!

You will probably not see much on your picture, or it might actually just be blank.

On the same layer, go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur.

These are the settings I used:

Next, click back on your background copy layer.

We are going to reduce the opacity to give it some color. I reduced mine to 35%.

Next we will add a border. Go to Layer > Flatten Image. Then, Layer > Duplicate Layer.

Then, click on Layer again. Then Layer Style > Stroke.

Here is what I used:

And the final picture:

Start by creating a New Document [400px x 90px]. Now fill the new document with black [Edit > Fill > Black].

Find an image of a spider web and place it on top of the background.

Now go to [Image > Adjustments > Desaturate]. Change the blending mode to Hard Light. Set the opacity to 30%.

Next add an image of the night sky with a full moon. Change the blending mode to Luminosity. Set the opacity to 65%.

Use the Elliptical Marquee tool to select around the moon. Create a new layer and paint yellow in the selection. Change the blending mode to Soft Light. Set the opacity to 80%.

Use the paintbrush with white paint and use a smoke pattern brush at a low opacity to add some smoke to the background.

Now find an image of a candle and cut it out with the Polygon Lasso tool. Set the blending mode to Lighten. Use the Eraser tool with a soft brush to fade the edges of the flame and the base of the candle.

Next add an image of a pumpkin and go to [Image > Adjustments > Brightness/Contrast]. Turn the Brightness down to -10 and turn the Contrast up to +10.

Now add a picture of someone’s head, you can use a picture of your self if you want to, I used Robert Downey Jr. or you can call him Tony Stark aka Iron Man.

Desaturate the face and adjust the Brightness/Contrast. (Brightness: +20 / Contrast: +65).

Select the white part of his face with the Magic Wand. Create a new layer and fill the selection with white. Hide the original image and you should be left with a great outline of a face.

Next we are going to apply some blending options. Here are all the options I added (Inner Shadow, Outer Glow, Gradient Overlay, Inner Glow, and Stroke). Click image to see all options.

After all that we need to add an outer glow to the pumpkin. I duplicated the original pumpkin layer and deleted the face selection from the middle. Then I added a white outer glow with the opacity turn down.

Add ‘Happy Halloween’ to the middle with some yellow glow to match the pumpkin. Now you are finished with this cool Halloween Signature.

Happy Halloween!

In this tutorial you will learn how to make a realistic looking treasure map with burnt edges.

Here are my images that I used in this tutorial.

First we are going to lay some textures down to give the map some character and color. My base background is this picture of a piece of crumpled up brown paper.

Next we are going to add some leather on top of that. Change the blending mode to Hard Light and the opacity down to 90%.

Now lay over that your map picture. To make that texture show through, change the blending mode to Multiply.

Next to darken up the edges, draw a radial (black to transparent) gradient. To blend it better, change the layer to Overlay and to 30% opacity.

Lets add some text to brand the image (insert your own text here). I used a fancy script font you will see why next. Also change the blending mode to Color Burn and set opacity to 80%.

Since we are adding some text, lets add a ‘X’, to mark the spot where the treasure is hidden. Use a dark crimson color and set the blending mode to Darken.

Now we can add a fountain pen to the picture. Use the Polygon Lasso tool to cut out the pen and place it in the new image. Add a drop shadow to the layer to give it a three-dimensional feel.

Now cut out some objects to place on top of the map (ex. compass, key, leather book). Add a light shadow with a feathered edge.

Repeat last step until you are happy with the composition. Then we need to flatten the image so we can add the burnt edges. After flattening the image place a blank layer underneath the map layer and fill it with black.

Next use the Polygon Lasso tool to cut out some jagged holes in the map and also take cut a piece out of the corner.

Now delete that selection and you are left with holes in your map. But we are not finished yet.

Place an image of old roughed up wood between the top layer and the black layer. So you can see it through the holes.

Next adjust the color by going to Image>Adjustments>Hue/Saturation. This will make the wood look like it matches the image better.

After that, change the blending mode to Vivid Light, so that the black shows through. Now it looks like burnt charred wood.

Now using the Burn tool, brush around the edges of the holes and randomly around the map. Use a feathered brush at 45% exposure.

Were almost done! Flatten the image one more time and adjust the brightness and contrast. Go to going to Image>Adjustments>Brightness/Contrast.

And now we are done creating a treasure map that has withstood the test of time.

Congrats!

Here you will learn how to change the paint of your favorite car!!!

Here is the picture we used in Golden Rims Tutorial.

So now that you know how to change the color of the rims, lets try changing the whole car.

Lets get started.

First open up your picture in Photoshop.

Duplicate the car image onto a new layer.

Then go to the menu bar: Image ⇒ Adjustments ⇒ Hue/Saturation.

Click the Colorize button in the right hand corner first.

Move the sliders to your desired color.

Here is what I selected.

Next we are going to cut out your new car layer to match the original car.
(note: I prefer the polygon lasso tool but you can use the pen or magic wand tool.)

Once you select around the car, Inverse your selection by hitting Ctrl+Shift+I.

Then delete the outside selection.

Now we need to clean up some of the edges, so select the lights, license plate, windshield, etc…

The delete them from the new layer.

Here is what your selected car should look like.

Next select the Blending Options drop down menu in the layers pane. And select Linear Burn.

Here is your new green car.

Now you can add your skills from the Golden Rims Tutorial and make some cool green rims.

There you have it, a Chameleon car.

Here are a few other car colors you can do for fun.

First of all make a new document [ File > New ]. I have used 400 by 90. Now fill the new document with black [ Edit > Fill > Black ].

Now find a nice looking render and place it in the middle of the tag. I have re-sized mine because it was big. Make sure it is rendered (without background).

Now find a city stock, and add it to your tag. Re-size it and place it in the middle of the tag, make sure some piece of the stock is visible on the left side of the render as well as on the right, erase where your main render is placed. Set the layer to Lighten .

Now we have some free space on the sides, time to fill that with the same stock. Copy the stock and move it to the right side of the tag. Erase some parts of the tag so that it blends better with the rest of the stock we had before. Set it also to Lighten.

Do the same thing again, but this time do it on the left side of the tag.

Now take your brush tool and select some cool brushes (like something in the grunge style). Now brush a little on both sides of the render. Use white for the brushing color. Erase the parts you don’t like.

Apply image on a new layer [ Image > Apply Image ]. Now take your smudge tool and smudge the city background. After you are done with smudging it, set it to Lighten.

Add a nice looking texture stock and set it to Lighten. Now take your erase tool and by using a soft round brush, erase the parts you don’t like or that don’t look very good.

Make anew layer and fill it with black [ Edit > Fill > Black ]. Then take your brush tool and make some small dots by using a soft round brush. Then take your smudge tool and smudge some of the dots a little bit.

Set this layer to Color dodge.

Make a new layer. Take your brush tool, select a soft round brush and lower the opacity to about 5% and brush on the sides. After you’re done with brushing set it to Dissolve.

Apply image on a new layer [ Image > Apply Image ]. Now take your dodge tool and by using a soft round brush, make some parts around the renders head lighter.

Make a big white dot on the top of the tag where you can see the renders head. Set the layer to Overlay and then you can erase the parts you don’t like or you can just smudge it a bit to give it better flow.

Brush with brown on both sides, then take your smudge tool smudge the brushing. After you’re done, set the layer to Color dodge.

Brush in black by using a soft round brush. It is best to make big dots, like one on the left side, in the middle, and one on the right side, that will give you the best effect. After you’re done with brushing set the layer to Soft light and lower the opacity to 33%.

Make new layer and take your pencil tool and select a hard round brush 1px big. Now make random lines around the renders head, use two different colors.

Apply image on a new layer [ Image > Apply Image ]. Then take your dodge tool and by using a soft round brush make some parts of the tag a bit lighter. Lower the opacity of the layer to 55%.

Add gradient map :

Set it to Multiply at 22% opacity.

Add a Photo filter:

Set it to Soft light at 33% opacity and erase the parts you don’t like .

Add a Photo filter:

Set to screen at 15% opacity.

Add Color Balance :

Leave it at normal but lower the opacity to 70% and erase the parts you don’t like.

Brush in brown over the render’s face by using a soft round brush and lower the opacity of the layer to 33%.

Brush in white on the bottom of the tag, somewhere near the render’s head.

Make a big white dot on the top of the signature somewhere above the renders head, to make the lighting better. Use white for this and a soft round brush.

Brush over the left side of the render’s head with yellow. Set the layer to Soft light.

Add a gradient map:

Set it to Luminosity at 33% opacity.

Apply image on a new layer [ Image > Apply Image ] then do [ Filter > Sharpen > Sharpen ].

Now you’re done. I hope you have learned something new from this tutorial and that you like your outcome.
