Samsung’s products have long been the epitome of style, and the S27A950D is another exceptionally pretty product. Its 27in screen seems to flow in an arc from its massive base, which holds the power connector and video inputs. The base and rear are finished in brushed metal, while the fascia is all glossy black. It's all plastic, but that's why the price isn't in Apple territory.

The S27A950D’s 3D requires active shutter glasses, but they aren’t the ones provided by Nvidia's 3D Vision system. Samsung’s glasses are far lighter and use a small watch battery instead of a fixed rechargeable battery. The screen supports 120Hz refresh rates, however, so there's nothing to stop you buying a 3D Vision kit separately if you already own an Nvidia graphics card. It’s worth noting, however, that replacement Samsung glasses cost about £85, whereas a 3D Vision kit with one pair of glasses costs around £130.

Intuitive 3D HyperReal Engine optimizes 3D effects for lifelike visuals.

Samsung bundles a copy of the TriDef 3D software with the monitor, and you'll need to set it up differently depending on which make of graphics card you use. The S27A950D’s installation software places a special shortcut on your desktop after you install the software that lets you choose which type of 3D to use. ATI card owners get the best deal here, because the S27A950D worked almost seamlessly with an AMD card fitted during our tests. Unfortunately, Nvidia card owners need to jump through a few extra hoops.

With an AMD card, you can use Windows’ own Direct3D standard to play games, and we found Crysis to be smooth and immersive thanks to its 120Hz refresh rate. With an Nvidia card, you have to set TriDef to side-by-side mode. You then have to switch on 3D manually using the monitor's touch-sensitive controls, which are located beneath the screen. The glasses won't even switch on until you do this. Contrary to intuition, the raw image actually changes from two side-by-side images to a single, albeit fuzzy image when you switch the monitor to side-by-side 3D mode.

It is known for giving large discounts through its "doorbuster" specials on popular consumer electronics, and of course people love it. But, even before the actual event, the company had already given discounted items for its loyal patrons to check. And based from my experience, some of these early Best Buy Black Friday 2011 deals are also being peddled on the actual morning shopping spree, in all of its branches nationwide. It's also good to pay attention to last year's item list because that will give you a hint on the item categories the retailer might offer come November 25th.
This year, we're seeing the trend on smartphone category including the BlackBerry 9000 series, more high-end stuff like the iPhone 4, Galaxy S 2 and Motorola Atrix handsets might be up for sale. The Samsung Galaxy Tab and original Motorola Xoom might be for sale at discounted price tags as well in the tablet category. Meanwhile, Pre-Black Friday deals are also being given away by the company including a Dynex LED HDTV from its original price of $499.99 to just $399.99 (saving you 100 bucks) or its Insignia camcorder now priced at just $60 from its original $100 price. You might even notice that Best Buy had slashed the tag price for its Disney movie ensemble from $30 to $20. And we're expecting more in the following days until Cyber Monday 2011.
There are other retail outlets aside from Best Buy that offers exciting deals come November 25 of this year. You know, Walmart, Target and Amazon, to name a few. Some specializes on specific merchandise while others only deals with apparel and home furniture.

Black Friday is certainly one of the most anticipated event in the US - by both business owners and buyers. The latter benefit from getting low-priced merchandise while the former can dispose most of its inventory and gaining profit (by volume) in the end. It's a good day to share your blessings - the true meaning of Thanksgiving - aside from Christmas.

VIERA incorporates technology that analyzes picture information in both the preceding and succeeding frames, and creates a precise supplementary frame between them. This suppresses the jerky effect seen in movies, so playback is smooth and natural-looking. The distinctive tonal qualities and atmosphere of the movie are preserved, and you enjoy extremely lifelike 3D images.

Frame Sequential Technology

Panasonic uses Full-HD Frame Sequential technology to create its 3D images. Images recorded in 1920 x 1080 pixels for both the right-eye and the left-eye alternately flash on the screen at the ultra-high rate of 120 frames per second. When you view the screen through active-shutter glasses that open and close each lens in sync with the alternating images, you see breathtaking FULL HD 3D pictures with stunning power and realism.

Dynamic Contast

By combining the highly light-transmissive IPS Alpha Panel and high-brightness backlight, Panasonic have attained both high contrast and low power consumption. Also, by detecting the contrasting parts of the scene, the backlight is adjusted to maintain a brightness that is optimal for each area. Deep blacks are reproduced with no fading. The contrast between the brilliance of diamond-like stars and the deep black of the night sky produces a sharp, crisp image.

600Hz Sub-field Drive

600Hz technology lets you view superb full-HD motion and still images. For even greater clarity with motion images, Panasonic uses its own unique image-analysis technology. This technology converts the motion in each scene into dots. And each frame is practically displayed for a shorter length of time than in previous systems, to reduce aftereffects.
