Separate from our main recording studio, members can produce a one-man-show by recording in our Tricaster Studio. TV productions recorded in the main studio require a lot of man power: 3 camera operators, floor director, lighting designer, technical director, audio coordinator, and graphics operator (to name a few positions). If you can scrape up a crew to help produce your program, the H.O.T. set is the solution for you.

The past few weeks TV3 has been making some major changes to its studio. One of the many new upgrades includes wireless audio and video in the studio space. We can now handle up to 9 wireless talent mics, 2 IFB transmitters, and 500ft of wireless video transmission.

TV3 is in the process of developing a filmmaking workshop for summer 2010. This will be a 4 week workshop geared toward the producing of short films. There will be 2 workshops, one for high school students and one for adults. The workshop meets daily for 4 weeks from 10am to 2pm.

Here is a tentative course schedule:

WEEK 1:
- Introducing short film concepts
- Study short films
- Developing story ideas
- Basics in screenwriting
- Script/storyboard writing

WEEK 2:
- Budgeting
- Pre Production / casting
- Location Management
- Film Production

WEEK 3:
- Basics in Avid editing
- Post Production work
- Editing of films

WEEK 4:
- Basics in Audio
- Music/Score arrangement
- Final cuts
- Film Premiere

When we say "filmmaking" we really do mean filmmaking. All short films produced during the workshop will be shot on 16mm motion picture film. Students will learn the basics in film production; everything from how to load a film camera to color correction in Avid.

Students will produce short films from concept to finished product.

TV3 will be unveiling it newly designed H.O.T. set soon. H.O.T. stand for Host Operated Technology. The H.O.T. set is ultimately the solution for the producer with a limited crew. Unlike our main studio space where you must recruit camera operators, floor director, technical director, audio engineer, etc. the H.O.T. set allows you to produce a "one man show."

At your finger tips you have a control room in a screen. Producers not only able to host a program but also control audio, graphics, and camera operation by simply using a computer mouse that is concealed under a desk.

This set is ideal for broadcast news, public addresses, political discussion, or even religious sermons.

For members who have worked in the H.O.T. set in the past will be pleased with our new modifications and upgrades. Here are a few at glance:

MEDFORD CABLE NEWS COMING SOON (read more)

TV3 has spent many months working on a new television program, Medford Cable News. MCN will be Medford's exclusive news program covering local topics such as politics, finances, local sports, and breaking news.

We are currently assembling a production staff. We are looking for field reporters, news anchors, producers, and crew.

The program will be combination of news magazine style and traditional broadcast new. The program will air weekly live on Thursday nights at 7pm. The program will also run on Saturday and Sunday with expanded topics. The program is scheduled to premiere in March.

MEDFORD SQUARE RADIO PROPOSED? (read more)

TV3 has spent recent months coming up with ways to expand the services we provide. In 2009 we introduced live webstreaming and automatic schedule generation on our new website. We have also spent a great deal of time and careful planning in the reconstructing of our studio and H.O.T. Set space.

Today we open the discussion up to all TV3 members and viewers about what other mediums of output we can offer our producers. Since we are here to server the members, we want to know what you want!

In the past week, it has been proposed by the station manager, Dan Sarno, that TV3 offer for the very first time in Medford, a low power radio station. Medford Cablevision would own and operate Medford's very first LPFM "community radio" station. The service would allow members of TV3 to not only have access to the channel 3 on Comcast cable, but also a piece of the radio spectrum.

Sarno is investigating the licensing process with the FCC. It is proposed that the site of transmission would be at the 5 High Street location. Total station power would be 300 watts and would cover a 5 mile broadcasting radius from the center of Medford Square.

While nothing is official, we are looking for input from viewers and producers to determine whether or not this service would be beneficial to the community and whether there is a demand by producers.

January is Marathon Month. In the past year, TV3 saw dozens of new shows hit the schedules each month. January we will feature a modified schedule airing back to back some of the classic episodes of new programs that aired this past year. Now's the chance to catch the episode you might have missed. In February, we will resume our normal lineup.

New live program hits the TV3 airwaves: TV3 Sports Line" after a long hiatus from TV3, John "the kid Byers launches a new live call-in format sports talkshow, TV3 Sports Line. The 1 hour live program airs every Tuesday from 7pm to 8pm with reruns throughout the week. The first episode aired on Wednesday January with a shaky start, but by the second half the phone was off the hook. The Kid racked in nearly 9 calls on his first episode. The community is talking about this show. Stay tuned.

TECHNOLOGY: VIDEO ON DEMAND SERVICE COMING SOON

After receiving many requests by members, TV3 is implementing a video on-demand option our new website. Members will not only be able to watch TV3 on Comcast channel 3, TV3 will also be available 24/7 on the web via a live webstream as well as through VOD. VOD allows members to select individual episodes of programs on TV3 and watch them whenever. Please email us your comments and suggestions as we develop this technology further.

TV3 will be featuring three new series' beginning February: Edna Gubert's "Puppet Mania," a half hour children's television program, Joanne Codi's "Live Love Dance," a one hour music program featuring local talent, and Deric Dyer's "Inside the Music," featuring a mix of local performers and established musicians and entertainers. Don't forget to also catch new episodes of "Surfn' the Net with Stevie B," "Meeting Interesting People," "Dr. Is In," "TV3 Sports Line," and "Open House with Ziggy Bush."
