The concept of PC recording studios is fast consuming the music world. The idea of recording in a traditional studio already seems ancient to many music producers, especially electronic music producers. Sure, the traditional studio has its own advantages but it also requires a lot of $$$. Whereas a PC recording studio requires only a computer and a DAW(digital audio workstation) to start of with.

That means anybody who has computer and has some basic musical knowledge can now create music from their bed rooms. This is the major advantage that the musicians try to exploit. You can take your own time to make sure the mix is right and you also get to work whenever you want to.

If you want to know more or want to start recording on your PC, I suggest you run a basic search on Google about the same. Its better read some material before you start anything.

A good book that I came across, explains the baiscs of a PC studio and is aimed at first time producers. PC recording studios for dummies by Jeff Strong is a recomended read for any new producer.

Mixing Secrets by Andi Vax

Mixing is an art and each producer has his/her own way of achieving things. However, knowing how other people do it can be very informative to all producers.

Here is a mixing tutorial by Andi Vax who has an elctro-house project by the same name and a psytrance project called SynSUN.

This 66 minute video tutorial explains several problems that producers come across while producing and also provides simple solutions to overcome them. This tutorial is provided in Russian and English versions.

If you do not want to download the whole tutorial or if you want to view them in parts as and when you find time, please run a search on youtube where you will find the tutorial divided into several parts

Mixing

The main aim and concept of mixing as in music is to make sure that all the instruments involved sound distinct and clear from each other at the same time contributing to the overall ambience. As you might know, each sound has it's own frequency and it sounds the best when there no other sounds in the same frequency range disturbing it.

To only use sounds that lie in different range of frequencies is impossible in music but there are ways in which you can tweak the instruments such that no two instruments collide and make it hard to distinguish between them.

In this section, you will be able to learn how to tweak your projects such that they sound much better than before.

The information here are not my creations and I claim to be no expert on the topic of mixing but rather an average producer sharing some valuable resources to help producers.

Hey people,

I'm starting this blog to organize and share the information that I have off late collected- and will continue to do so- on music production. I intend to share interesting things that I find on my searches. It may include, for example, music production theories, tutorials explaining practical application of several ideas, new hardware and software synths to look-out for(I think I'll start writing reviews soon too) and information of any other sort that might seem worth a read.

The information you find here are not necessarily my ideas, rather a collection of various concepts and ideas.

Most of the articles posted here might be inclined towards electronic music production(EDM more specifically) but you should be able to catch some info that might be helpful even if you know nothing about electronic music or how it is produced.

Please share your opinions and comments on the posts to help me make it better. Also please feel free to suggest any other information that you find interesting.
