These socks are worked in Alpaca Sox, and I did the pattern in the large size. I was getting more stitches per inch, so I think the size worked out okay. They're super soft and warm! I'm ready to move on to the next project, which I think will be a Coriolis Architecture from Cat Bordhi's book New Pathways for Sock Knitters, which I picked up while I was in Vashon in February.

Honey Badger Pictures

Soon after finishing, I hopped a plane to go to Washington state, and enjoyed a week of weaving and friendship and giggling with my friend Janet. It was a blast. I now have renewed weaving energy! But, it cuts into my knitting time. Still, I'm working away on a pair of Dotty's - by the same designer as the Honey Badgers. I should be done before February is through, and on schedule for a dozen pair of socks at the end of the year.

Overwhelmed.

I went to the doctor yesterday. On the 9th day of being sick. I have laryngitis, so I sound like a heavy smoking lounge singer. And also a sinus infection. Giddy! At least I'm able to take some antibiotics, and I hope to be on the mend quickly!

So.... January has been a little overwhelming. Helix socks aren't going to be dealt with. I need a sock project that a) I can just start b) I don't need to print out and squint at complex instructions.
I've also been thinking that maybe I'm not going to stick to socks, because there are so many other awesome patterns out there I want to do!

I really love a challenge, and a lot of projects don't keep my attention because they don't pose a suitable challenge. Enter: The Double Helix Sock. Oh dear!

Here's the conundrum: The Heidrickman household is "tustabumble" (as Grandma would say) since we're having the wood floors on the main level refinished next week. I can't even reach my sock yarn! My Cricket loom is parked right in front of it, as well as a box of photos, a drawer from my roll top desk, a cork board, an end table... you get the idea. Currently, my computer is between my swift and my yarn winder. So this poses another problem.

All of this, and not to mention, I need to finish the second sock in a pair of baby socks (maybe those are 1 of 12?) and a Christmas gift for my brother! What does one knit for a nearly-40 geek? Hmmmm.

12 in 12

One of my goals for 2012 is to knit 12 pair of socks.
