Amanda Evans Interiors Inc. is looking for a talented junior designer AND a CAD technician to work on a number of high-end residential interior design projects. The successful applicants will need previous experience in a similar role.

The key role and responsibilities will include:

JUNIOR DESIGNER

• Assist on furniture & décor installs with the design team and photoshoots
• Material sourcing and specification for residential design projects
• Maintain the company design library
• Assist principal designer Amanda Evans on numerous projects
• Request quotes and samples from suppliers
• Assist in the creation of visual presentations
• Create and maintain multiple specification binders
• Assist in design consultations with accurate note and measurement taking
• Produce general floor plans and elevations in AutoCAD

Skills and abilities:

• Fluent in written and spoken English
• Strong and confident communication skills
• Ability to work well under time pressure to meet deadlines
• Ability to multi task on multiple projects with various scopes
• Be positive, friendly, enthusiastic and hardworking
• Strong organizational skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Word and Excel and Photo Shop
• Familiarity with SketchUp, WordPress
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, be proactive and demonstrate self-motivation

Qualifications:

• 2+ years experience
• Extremely passionate about creating beautiful residential projects
• Have a certificate or equivalent in Interior Design
• A valid BC driver’s license and access to your own car is a must
• Excellent knowledge in social media
• General photography and blogging skills/knowledge would be beneficial

The position is part time and with flexible days between Monday to Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm with the opportunity to become full time. Compensation will be negotiable based on experience and qualifications. CAD TECHNICIAN:

• Full interior construction drawing packages including: floor plans, finishes, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, etc.
• Elevations & floor plans for presentation purposes
• Renderings
• Collaboration with design team to ensure design intent is communicated

Skills and abilities:

• Able to adapt to our layout and drawing style
• Ability to work well under time pressure to meet deadlines
• Extremely detail oriented and organized
• Efficient and resourceful, self motivated

Qualifications:

• Degree or diploma in interior design
• 5+ years of experience in AutoCAD
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD 3D or comparable program to create presentation quality renderings
• Very high proficiency in AutoCAD
• Working knowledge of BC Building Code
• Ability to work with architects, designers and be a part of the team

It’s not exactly easy to look chic while bundled up in endless layers of clothing as you try to brave the relentless chill we face during winter. In fact, it’s quite difficult not to look like a giant, walking blanket, because dressing fashionably and functionally in the snowy season is something that seems impossible to many.

But we can learn a lot from the experts when it comes to the winter trends that will keep us looking stylish while staying warm. Some of the best “experts” out there are the women we see spotted rocking the sidewalks like runways: street style stars. Some of these stylish trendsetters are celebrities, while others are ordinary women with a big appetite for fabulous fashion. Street style stars are great for inspiration because they show us how to wear a look with the emphasis on everyday functionality – after all, we’re not all models being photographed for Vogue. With that said, here are some winter wardrobe tips taken from the street style experts that make errand-running look oh-so-chic.

Put A Little Prep In Your Step

Julianne Hough is known for her sweet smile and even sweeter style. In this ELLE article, Julianne show us that not every sweater has to look the same. She adds a touch of prep to give the neckline structure with a collar by layering an Oxford shirt underneath. This technique not only makes your everyday sweater look more polished and pretty, but it it’s a great way to sneak in an extra layer without even trying! Take it from Julianna and say yes to the prep; no sweater will go unnoticed any longer with this simple style trick.

The Trusty Trench

If you’ve been checking the winter trend reports even a tiny bit, chances are you’ve seen one of the hottest, most easily worn items of the season. Enter the camel-colored trench coat – a perennial winter wardrobe staple with its versatile tone and understated sleekness. A daytime look like the one in this street style shot found in POPSUGAR is best done with a short trench and classic colors underneath. For the colder nights opt for a floor-sweeping cut, a trendy choice that’ll keep you wrapped up in style.

Simple Separates

To create a plethora of functional looks, keep your winter style simple with just a few “bodysuits and everyday beautiful basics,” like Lyst mentions. Grab a couple neutral-colored, hassle-free turtleneck bodysuits for a no-slip situation underneath extra layers. One could say that you can never really have enough black and when it comes to a minimalistic black-on-black ensemble, as pictured here, the phrase definitely rings true! Having basic black separates in your closet is the key to making this monochrome trend a success.

Chic Twist On Casual

As it can seem like a simple routine to continuously step out in the same outfit – jeans, boots and your favorite coat – sometimes you need to mix it up a little. Sarah Jessica Parker, the queen of street style not only in Sex in the City but also real life, shows us that any casual look (see: jeans and V-neck) can still be polished with the addition of pretty pumps. Something as simple as changing your shoes can instantly take an outfit from drab to fab.

If I could say or write anything about the newly launched RH Modern line from Restoration Hardware it would just be a bunch of heart eyed emojis because it’s amazing! I’m in love with their take on contemporary furniture, lighting and décor. The rooms are impeccably styled and still exude Restoration’s brand but with a whole new sleek look. For myself, as a designer, I think it’s a bit difficult to really define my sense of style because it’s always changing and evolving into something new based on my experiences and what’s new to the market. But I think this line from Restoration hits close to home because one of my favourite looks or design practices is mixing old with new. To see paneling on the walls, ornate fireplaces and herringbone flooring mixed with sleek polished chrome, brushed brass, and clean lines is so refreshing because you get the best of both worlds. I’m looking forward to incorporating these pieces into upcoming projects!

It’s been a few weeks since the big Dinner x Design event that took place at the end of September. I finally feel like I’ve started to catch up after a very busy month! Dinner x Design is an annual event hosted by the Social Concierge and GE Monogram where 15 designers and event planners design a tablescape for ten people in a 12’x 12′ space. There are no ‘rules’ so you are free to design your space however you choose and I was very fortunate to partner with some wonderful companies to see my vision come to life.

A little bit about my table…..

“Crazy in Love” explores the juxtaposition of femininity and romance with the dark and sometimes tumultuous side of love. One of Twenty One Two’s design philosophies is using a mix of textures to create a luxurious, yet approachable look in a space. Metallic grass cloth wallpaper contrasts the matte black coffered ceiling with a dramatic brass pendant. The custom designed Twenty One Two rift cut oak table manufactured by Once A Tree Furniture is paired with black velvet chairs that exude a sense of luxury. A gallery of black & white photography flanks the focal wall while sheer drapery hangs floor to ceiling to help set the dark, yet romantic mood. Pale white florals sit atop the oak table and add a touch of femininity and softness while contrasting the dark, edgy feel of the space.

To create this tablescape, I worked with Once A Tree Furniture and designed this custom white oak table (it’s currently at the store for sale and has been named “Theo”). I paired it with MGBW black velvet chairs and a gold Circa Lighting pendant that was a main feature of my space.

The table and chairs sit atop a beautiful silk area rug from Salari Fine Carpets designed by Creative Matters. It is handknotted, 100% pure Chinese silk cut pile construction inspired by the 1920’s and the Great Gatsby.

Celsia Florals provided the custom floral arrangement that was a mix of white and the softest pale pink roses. I worked with Anewall to create the custom gallery wall of black and white prints that were inspired by my concept. The white frames pop on the black and gold Phillip Jeffries grasscloth wallpaper from Crown Wallpaper that was installed by Shazcor Wallcoverings. All of the plate ware, cutlery and glasses are available at Hudson’s Bay. I used a mix of gold, silver, white and grey to create a layered look. The flooring was provided by Divine Flooring and is a favourite of mine. I’ve seen a huge shift in the last few years of lighter, oak floors being sourced and this flooring was a perfect backdrop to the custom Once A Tree furniture.

I can’t thank my partners enough for their support and generosity- Once A Tree Furniture, Celsia Florals, Anewall, Crown Wallpaper, Shazcor Wallcoverings, Hudson’s Bay, Salari Fine Carpets, Divine Flooring and Tracey Ayton Photography made all of this possible and I couldn’t have done it without them!

I’m so excited to be a part of this year’s Dinner x Design happening this Sunday and Monday at CBC Studios in Vancouver! Dinner x Design is an event hosted by the Social Concierge, GE Mongram and IDS West benefiting the CANFAR. There are 15 interior designers and event planners designing tablescapes that will be displayed alongside art installations by the Emily Carr Institute.

The cocktail art party is on Sunday September 20th at 8:00pm and the Gala dinner happens Monday, September 21st. Get your tickets here– they’re selling out very fast! Hope to see you there, come by and say hi!

I was approached by Chairish, a curator-approved online marketplace for vintage and used furniture, to put together a “shabby chic” design for a room of my choice! Since my favourite room to decorate is the living room, I started out on their site by selecting a few different rugs and sofas. I’m always a fan of mixing different styles, so I incorporated that into the design and put my own spin on shabby chic style. One of my favourite looks is mixing more traditional elements like the Louis accent chair with a sleek and modern marble coffee table. The key to mixing styles is to have a consistent “theme” and colour scheme. My look here is a modern, glam living room and I achieved that by bringing in feminine elements like the patterned pillows and sheepskin and mixed with finishes like marble, brass and polished chrome in the chandelier.

Hello and welcome to the new and improved blog of Twenty One Two Designs Inc.! It’s been a while since I’ve blogged, but I’ve missed the creative outlet that blogging gives me and I really enjoy being able to give updates on various projects that I’m working on. So what’s been happening lately? This past spring and summer has proven to be quite busy with exciting projects in the works. Currently, I’m working on a few condos in downtown Vancouver, a new custom home in Burnaby, just finished up another Bombay Brow Bar in Park Royal and I’m also getting ready for IDS West and Dinner x Design! I’m very excited to be getting back into the world of blogging! Over the years, this blog was a place I could connect with other bloggers, designers, brands and friends, but over time it was a little difficult to keep up. I’ve noticed a shift in the blogging world since I’ve taken a break- it’s grown immensely and I hope that I can carve out a small corner for myself and my design company, Twenty One Two Designs Inc.

Over the next few weeks I’ll be slowly but surely making myself back at home here and I hope you will come along for the ride! Expect to see some serious interior design inspiration, project reports, and a hit of fashion here and there. Looking forward to coming back!
