Cheryl Theresa Ownley Sawyer, 42, of 959 Cherry Glade Road, Elizabeth City, NC went home to her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 24, 2013 at her home.  She was born March 23, 1971 in Elizabeth City, NC to David Wesley Ownley and Joyce Bateman Ownley and was the wife of Steve Sawyer.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Theresa is survived by four sisters, Rita O. Jennings of Hertford, NC, and Brenda J. Ownley, B. Diane Ownley and Kathy Elliott of Elizabeth City, NC; two brothers, Ronnie D. Ownley and Wade Ownley of Elizabeth City, NC; five nieces, Renee J. Rippy of Edenton, NC, and Michelle White, Marissa White, Amanda Underwood and Crystal Elliott of Elizabeth City, NC; four nephews, Bryan Jennings of Edenton, NC, and Ronnie Ownley, Jr., Cecil Elliott and Wyatt Ownley of Elizabeth City, NC; eleven great-nieces, Madison Jennings of Hertford, NC, and Jesilyn Rippy, Abby McGrath, and Emily Jennings of Edenton, NC, Haley Bradley, Destiny Elliott, Jasmine Beasley, Shaundrea Beasley, Cornia Elliott, Madison Elliot and Ashley Elliott of Elizabeth City, NC; seven great-nephews, Logan Parker, Colton Ownley, Caleb Bradley, Keith Elliott and Cecil Elliott, Jr. of Elizabeth City, NC, and Valor Rippy and Michael Vaughn of Edenton, NC; three aunts, Grace Whidbee and Dora White of Elizabeth City, NC and Katherine Godfrey of Hertford, NC; four uncles, Carl Wayne Bateman and Dean Bateman of Hertford, NC and Sammy Ownley and Mack Whidbee of Elizabeth City, NC; and multiple cousins and friends.

Kitty Hawk, NC

 Linda Sue Risoldi, of Kitty Hawk, NC lost her courageous battle against cancer on May 22, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on January 18, 1954 to the late Mel and Sophia Hannemann, in Phoenix, AZ and grew up in Alexandria, VA, where she met the love of her life, John L. Risoldi, Sr.   John and Linda moved to the Outer Banks of North Carolina in 1993 where they raised their three beautiful children.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Jennifer and David, of Apollo Beach, FL; Sandra and Vinny, of Lowell, NC; and one son, John, Jr., who is proudly serving in the United States Navy; six grandchildren, Joey, Chelsea, Holly, David all of FL, Ashley and Allison, of NC.  She is also survived by her best friend and sister-in-law, Lugene Pruett, her devoted fur-baby, CoCo and a host of relatives and friends.

Linda worked for many years as a paralegal and office manager for prominent law firms in Arlington, VA, Washington, DC and the Outer Banks.  Most recently, she worked at the Community Care Clinic of Dare County, in Nags Head, where she loved her co-workers and most of all, her patients.  Cooking was her passion and she loved working in her garden.

A Celebration of Linda’s Life will be held on Friday, May 31, 2013 at Holy Redeemer by the Sea in Kitty Hawk, NC at 10:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Community Care Clinic of Dare County, P. Constance “Connie” Stienstra Keller, age 71 of Wiroans Court, Duck,  passed away Tuesday, May 21 at home, after being recently diagnosed with lung cancer.

She is survived by her husband of 7 years, Paul F. Keller, of the home; son, Donald Richard Stienstra II; Daughter, Kristin S. Weinzapfel and husband, Erick L. Weinzapfel; grandchildren, Andrew Stienstra, Quinn, Kelly and Zachary Weinzapfel; brother, Phillip B. Reilly II and wife, Carol S. Reilly.

Connie was born August 16, 1941 to Phillip and Lois Reilly, of Pittsburg, PA.  She moved to the Outer Banks permanently in 1982 where she began 23+ years of serving the community in mortgage lending.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 28 at 3p.m. at Duck United Methodist Church at 1214 Duck Rd, Duck, NC.

Antoinette Pino Parnell, 77, of 135 South Street, Moyock, NC died Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Currituck House.  Born in Providence, RI, she was the daughter of the late Bartalo R. and Angie Day Pino and was the wife of Edward A. Parnell.  Mrs. Parnell was a member of St. Stephen, Martyr Roman Catholic Church.

 In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Susan P. Workman and husband James of Chesapeake, VA; a son, Edward J. Parnell and wife Carrie of Hampton, VA; and a brother, Johnny Pino and wife Doris of Rhode Island.

 A funeral service will be conducted Friday, May 24, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stephen, Martyr Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Brian M. Terry Ann Warren Jackson, 66, of 1077 Horseshoe Road, Elizabeth City, NC went to be with her Lord Monday, May 20, 2013 at Albemarle Hospital.  Born in Pasquotank County, NC, she was the daughter of the late F.A. and Mary Peoples Williams Warren and was the wife of L.B. Jackson.  Mrs. Jackson was a member of Berea Baptist Church.  She was retired from Pasquotank County Public Schools.

In addition to her husband of forty-two years, Mrs. Jackson is survived by a son, Larry B. Jackson, III and wife Michelle of Elizabeth City, NC and their daughter, Lilley Breann Jackson; two sisters, Blanche Mercer of Elizabeth City, NC and Louise Staples of Shawboro, NC; three sisters-in-law, Doris Bobbitt of South Mills, NC, Emory Upton of South Mills, NC and Lucille Nix of Chesapeake, VA; and her faithful cat, Put-Put.  Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lois Brinson, who made sure L.B. knew that he had married the prettiest girl who ever went to Central School.

Terry Wayne Etheridge, 58, of 308 E. Burgess Street, Elizabeth City died Sunday, May 19, 2013 in the Albemarle Hospital.  He was born in Elizabeth City, NC on October 4, 1954 to the late Thelbert Hunt Etheridge and Etta Holt Etheridge.  Mr. Etheridge was the widower of the late Ruth Armstrong Etheridge.  He was a retired manager for a convenient store and a veteran of the US Army. 

Mr. Etheridge is survived by his sister, Sharon Vierrether of Elizabeth City, NC; a brother, Walter Franklin Etheridge of Raleigh, 11 nieces and nephews and several great nieces and great nephews.  Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray Etheridge and David Gibbs.

On September 24, 1921 in the oilfields of Oklahoma, God blessed Roy and Mamie Moser with a son whom they named Joseph Leonard, affectionately known as “Pop.”  He was to be the oldest of four brothers, Kenneth, Bob, Paul and Tommy and three sisters, Margie, Mary, and Nancy.  He was pre-deceased by his parents and siblings, Kenneth, Bob, Paul and Nancy.  The Lord chose to take him home on May 19, 2013.

          During the end of his second year in college, WWII was about to erupt.  Knowing he might be drafted, he made a choice to join the U. S. Coast Guard where he served our country for five years.  During that time he met Audrey Bryant whom he married.  She preceded him in death in 1979.  Audrey bore him three children, Janet Brooks, (James), Lennie (Cheryl) and Marvel Combs (Gene).  He was the grandfather to Ric Rule, Lori Brooks Butler, Michael Goodson, Shea Moser, Blake Moser, Shaun Combs, and Shannon Combs Hill.  He was the great-grandfather to Isaac and Benjamin Rule, Brooke Butler and Katherine Goodson.  In 1981 Pop married Ruby Austin who preceded him in death in 1999.

           After he was called to the ministry, he served as a pastor with the assemblies of God for fifty years spending the last years of his service at Hatteras Assembly of God, Hatteras, NC.  He was a mentor, a teacher, and a loving husband and father.  A special thanks goes out to the fine staff at Winslow Memorial who worked so hard to make our father feel safe and comfortable.

           Funeral services will Friday, May 24, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at New Life Assembly of God Church with the Rev. William Howard Ward, 84, of 805 West Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC died Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Albemarle Hospital.  Born in Elizabeth City, NC, he was the son of the late William Thomas Ward, Jr. and Sarah Long Ward Riggs and was the husband of the late Adelaide Harrison Ward.  Mr. Ward was a member of Blackwell Memorial Baptist Church and was also a member of Eureka Lodge #317 AF & AM and the Sudan Shriners.  He was retired from Jefferson Pilot Insurance Company.

 Mr. Ward is survived by four sons, William H. Ward, Jr. and wife Joyce of Camden, Marvin H. Ward and wife Virginia, Lloyd K. Ward and Barry D. Ward, all of Elizabeth City, NC; two brothers, Frank Douglas Ward, Sr. of Pollocksville, NC and William Thomas Ward, III and wife Susan of Elizabeth City, NC; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

William “Bill” Cordell Williams, 81 of 619 Pitts Chapel Road, Elizabeth City, NC passed away May 19, 2013 at Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital.  Born September 26, 1931 in Currituck County, he was the son of the late Thomas Milton Williams and Stella Skinner Williams.  Mr. Williams was a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church in Currituck County.  He served four years in the U. S. Air Force and after retiring from the Norfolk Ford Assembly Plant he became an avid dancer and member of the following clubs:  River City Shag Club, Outer Banks Shag Club, Boots-N-Bows of Chesapeake, VA, Denim and Diamonds of Camden, and the Currituck Cut-Ups.

Mr. Williams is survived by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Sabra Banks Williams, two daughters, Debra Kay Justice and husband Steve of Currituck, NC, Kimber Williams Taylor and finance David Farlow of Belvidere, NC; a brother, Gilbert Williams and wife Jean of Weeksville, NC; two grandsons, William Johnathan Williams of Currituck, NC, and Christopher James Taylor of Weeksville, NC; one granddaughter, Brittany Taylor Jordan and husband Wesley; and a very special great-granddaughter, Jenna Mae Jordan of Elizabeth City, NC.  He was pre-deceased by two sisters, Sally Outlaw and Faye Hepner; and a brother, Donald Williams.
