Playing A Drunk Huntsman

The 28-year-old actor only gets to visit the dark side when filming. In “Snow White and the Huntsman,” the actor stars opposite Kristen Stewart and Charlize Theron. “It’s certainly more the Grimm’s fairytale version of Snow White than the Disney version that we know from the cartoons. ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ is epic in every way. The scale of the picture is huge. For example, we were shooting 150 people on horseback riding down the beach to storm the Queen’s castle, a fantastic scene we shot down in Wales. I’ve never seen anything this size. And the sets were incredible. They built castles and courtyards and villages one after another.”

He likened the production to the epic battle scenes of “Lord of the Rings” and “Gladiator.” “It’s a sort of on the scale of a ‘Lord of the Rings’ or ‘Gladiator’ film. What was great for me was Rupert Sanders’ (director) vision for the film and the fact that there are fully developed characters. There’s nothing black and white about it. Even the Queen has great motivation for doing what she is doing. She is not just evil for the sake of being evil. Snow White, too, has her own conflicts. The Huntsman, who I play, is a real lost soul and has sort of given up on the world and then sees a bit of light in Snow White. She sees it in him, too, and all of a sudden he is forced to re-think things and find who he really is. It’s a very redemptive story for my character. There are some beautiful character arcs.”

"The word “TV” still dominates its name and identity, but beginning today, MTV will introduce a variety of so-called “second screen” experiences leading up to and running through its annual “MTV Movie Awards” on June 3 that may cause some users, er viewers, to question which screen is their dominant one. Not surprisingly, social media will be at the core of the new digital screen experiences, including a new movie awards category, dubbed “Real Hero,” that will be chosen dynamically in real-time by fans tweeting in to special Twitter hashtags.

Twitter, which MTV has been working with for several years, will also play center stage on the second screen, as a way to augment viewers’ first-screen experiences. The awards show will also utilize a new, reimaged version of MTV’s Twitter Tracker, which beginning today will enable users to “visualize” key moments leading up to and running through the awards telecast.

With an emphasis on socialization, MTV will also utilize its Facebook presence to post “memorable moments, winners and other outrageous activity” in real-time.

The initiatives are all part of an ongoing progression that MTV digital executives dub “storytelling without borders,” which is designed to create greater “transparency,” and to give viewers and users a “’peek behind the curtain” during some of MTV’s highest-profile events.

“The main event is still watching the live TV broadcast,” explains Colin Helms, senior vice president-digital at MTV, “but we know people multitask and we’ve created an experience to sort of track that.”

The goal, he explains, is to “build and amplify” on the television experience by enabling viewers to have direct access to special content leading up to and running through the telecast and to encourage them to share it.

Twitter and Facebook may be the biggest elements, but the effort also includes components involving Instagram, Foursquare and Tumblr, each of which enable users to access and share elements of the awards show -– which along with its Video Music Awards is one of MTV’s two big “tent pole” events of the year.

The social voting via Twitter, in particular, represents a new paradigm for a major TV event like the movie awards, says Michael Scogin, vice president of mobile at MTV, because he says it is the first time any major awards show will enable users to see -- and presumably influence -- voting continuously in real-time.

“We’re going to be completely transparent about it in real-time,” he says."

Across the street, Robert Pattinson is seen on posters, magazine covers and says it's not me. "I do not recognize either the face or hair, nothing. It's like those people who can leave their body. " Perched on the terrace of a grand hotel in the morning sun, the hero of Cosmopolis (see pages 16-17), David Cronenberg, yet looks almost in his image. In quieter and softer, perhaps, and certainly more cheerful. He laughs all the time, a gaiety partageuse nothing disarms.

Subtle. The perennial question about celebrity, for example.The hero of Twilight, which provoked a riot at its last coming in Cannes (the security guards had to carry it for him from 700 rabid fans), begins with a serious response. "The most frustrating thing is know that it's not me they love or hate. To provide support to a feeling that has nothing to do with who I am. " He thought. "The paparazzi, we made it. But it's still weird to see these guys who decided to be assholes for life. We want to say: "Why did you choose this profession? Everybody hates you!" " He leaves in a big laugh, he can not stop. "It's like people who put Contraventions parking. You watch them, they look all happy! Hmm, cool, I'm going to ruin someone's day! "

In Cosmopolis, Eric Packer is, golden boy prodigy locked up in his limo. The hero of a saga for adolescents in a Cronenberg on the fall of capitalism? This was the pitch for weeks, the idea being to wonder that Robert Pattinson might be interesting. As if winning a contract to several million dollars, when an actor is unemployed for three years - his case when he signed forTwiligh t -, was the act of a bewildered. Yes, Robert Pattinson is intelligent, cultivated, subtle. It also is essential, this beauty strong, disturbing, imperfect assembly of elements (long flat nose planted directly in the forehead, chin forward, bushy eyebrows). His piercing blue eyes. But it's not because he deceived, but as it probes.

When David Cronenberg was called, he jumped for joy, then fear.It must be said that the way the change. "David makes no repetition. He says touring with Cronenberg gave him confidence. "I saw the end of Twilight approach by asking me lots of questions:" What does it do, what are the choices? " Now I think: "I will choose what I like." " His "dreams" : touring with Jacques Audiard. "I love all his films. And then his male characters are amazing. I want to be like that. " For now, he will work with another French, Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire (Johnny Mad Dog), a film about the hunt for Saddam Hussein. And probably in the next Cronenberg.

He lives in Los Angeles, as his girlfriend Kristen Stewart, a life'special', where it is not really about going out for a coffee, but it's not going to complain. Just take one more anecdote: "When I go to a restaurant, if I'm a little drunk ... and I see someone with a phone, I said:" I photograph! "" Laughter on winning again. " So I get up, furious, I go to the table: "Show me your phone!" "This is the coast. "Last time, I almost throw the phone out the window type. TV Equals has an exclusive interview with Noel Fisher...

This is a big summer for you. You have three big projects. How does it feel?Noel Fisher: Overwhelmed and really excited all at once. It’s one of those situations where I’m still trying to work out whether it’s real or not, but I think it is.

Let’s talk about the ‘Hatfields & McCoys.’ What’s the premise and who’s the character you play in it?Noel Fisher: Hatfields & McCoys’ is based on a true story about this really massive feud between these two big families, the Hatfields and the McCoys who live in West Virginia and Kentucky. It started a really long time ago, right after the Civil War. Basically, these two returning veterans of the Civil War go back to their homes and are each kind of the heads of their families in really significant ways. A lot of little misunderstandings kind of pile up and become bigger misunderstandings until it starts to get violent. Then it almost basically becomes a second Civil War almost. I believe the army almost got brought in. It’s this crazy thing that last a really long time. Not in that much of a pitched kind of fever, but it still lasted, I think, a couple of hundred years.

What side are you on, the Hatfields or McCoys?Noel Fisher: I’m a Hatfield. I play a Hatfield. I play a mentally challenged Hatfield named Cotton Top Mounts and he’s kind of the illegitimate son of Kevin Costner’s character, Devil Anse Hatfield. His brother is my dad.

You’ve got Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton in the cast. What was it like working with all these great actors?Noel Fisher: I mean, that’s one of the things that I’ve just been insanely lucky with in my career, the caliber of people that I’ve gotten to work with. This is just another example of that lucky streak. I’ve tried for a very long time to just try and learn as much as I possibly can from the people that I look up to and have grown up watching. Costner and Paxton, all these people, they’re so good at what they do. It’s like getting front row tickets. You get to sit and watch as closely as you can. So, I just try to sit back and learn something

I’m assuming that you’re also learning quite a bit on the set of ‘Shameless.’ You’re back for a third season and working with William H. Macy.Noel Fisher: Yes. My God, that’s definitely an example of that. There are some people that are just so good at what they do that it’s kind of unfair and he definitely falls into that.
