Phew..... I've been busy!

I just recently started a new job and have been really missing out on stamping time while adjusting to a 40 hour work week. I haven't had a full time job in 14 years... I did work full time when I owned my own store, but that was different.... it was like a home away from home and not an office. I love the new job, but really need to find time in during the week for a little stamping time as well.

The card above was made with papers and stamped images that were given to me by a friend at my new workplace... what a small world that a bunch of us are papercrafters!

A Very Merry Caardvark Holiday Hop - Day 3

Today's project is a home decor item made with die cuts from Creative Cuts & More. I used the snowflake cuts in the medium weight chipboard for these snowflakes. The flakes were covered with grey paint, then metallic sterling silver ink, THEN versamark and clear embossing powder. I added some spellbinder cutouts for the center decoration and a little bit of glitter as well.

Welcome to day 2 of the Caardvarks and Creative Cuts & More bloghop.

For today's project I altered a Yankee Candle with paper and velvet die cut flowers from Creative Cuts & More. The flowers are a dark red, flocked paper from Bazzill..... sooooo pretty! The candle is a sweet mulberry scent, so I used the "sweetest season" sentiment stamp from JustRite stampers.

A Very Merry Caardvarks Hop - Day 1

Welcome to day 1 on the Very Merry Caardvarks Hop featuring really cool and amazingly easy to use die cuts from Creative Cuts & More.

I used the A2 small circle window in String of Pearls Bazzill bling cardstock for the card below. The patterned paper is all from Studio 45; the border, medallion and deer. I embossed the front of the card with a cuttlebug snowflake folder and added the sentiment to the back of the cardfront so it shows through the circle. The photocorners are also from Creative Cards and More and are cut from Shiny Gold Metallic cardstock.

My newest Spellbinder Die

I picked up the Contemporary Hearts Spellbinder die over the weekend when I was at my lss (local scrapbook store). What fun!!! I started using some scraps that were laying around to just try it out. Below is my first project made with scraps from October Afternoon paper.

I combined this challenge with todays SCS (Splitcoaststampers) challenge to make faux suede paper. It's a really easy technique - simple cut your paper to size, then run it along a table edge and keep curling it back and forth until the core of the paper starts to break down. Then seperate the layers to reveal a suede-like texture on the inside.

The second card was combined with more October Afternoon paper for a coordinated look. I added lots of bling to this in the form of rhinestones, glitter and gel pens.

Sketchfest - Day 2

Today's sketch is a really easy layout to work with. I personally LOVE sketch challenges because I'm always looking for ways to tweek it just a bit to make it all mine!

I really had fun working with this kit... everything seemed to go together sooooo easily. Everything was coordinated and I just happened to LOVE the colors in it! The papers alone are just amazing, and the coordinated embellishments were just an added bonus.

Mega Font Hop - Just Rite Stampers

Just Rite Stampers

I gotta admit.... I'm totally sold on these wicked cool font stamps from Just Rite Stampers - Love 'em!! When I was making these cards I looked around for stamps that I just didn't have a ready-made sentiment to go with (like the rocket and the chick) and made up the sentiments using the Times New Roman Mega Font sets in 95 pt and 50 pt. I love the look of combining the 2 sizes.... kinda funky, huh?

Caardvarks and g.c.d Studio Blog Hop Day 3

What great cards and projects the other girls have posted in the past 2 days.... WOW!! I had alot of fun gretting ready for this blog hop. The products were fantastic, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the linen textured paper and all the fun embellishments that go with it! Here are my projects:

This gift set was made for my 16 year old daughter and features a round tin to store pens & pencils in, a clear front tin that stores 8 personalized notecards, a mini comp book and bookmark and a group of glass magnets to go inside the tin when the cards are used up. I used paper from the Debonaire line... gorgous colors, huh?

These 2 cards were made with some of the boyish paper from the Vintage Boy line (aptly named). Quick and easy cards for the men in your life.

The above card is made with the Shades of Black embellishment line using chipboard letters and epoxy stickers

Another card using paper from the Debonaire line.... love this stuff!! The basketweave paper is a great background pattern, the image was stamped on a tag from the paper collection, and I cut the bottom design from the reverse side of the basketweave paper.

One last card that you may have seen from a previous challenge, but I love it!! I used some zebra striped paper from the Debonaire collection for the background.

Autumn Poppies Tutorial for Flourishes

I'm the Flourishes Limelight Designer for the month of September, so each Sunday I will be posting a tutorial on their blog. I love working with their stamps... the flower images are always amazing looking and so much fun to color, layer & distress. One of my favorite stamp sets has always been Poppy Patch, so this week's post was a circle card made with this set and done in Autumn theme colors.

Walk on the Wild Side

Created for Caardvarks's DRS Design Challenge posted today. I made a total of 3 cards using the stamps from DRS design, This card used the super cute "Jimbo & The Gang" stamp which I trimmed down the image to fit on this smaller 3 x 5.5 card.

The second card uses the full image, which I stamped on kraft paper and colored with copic markers. I really love how the elephant turned out... he's my favorite out of the bunch!

The paper is from GCD Studios. The link is to the companies site, but you may be able to find it elsewhere on the web as well. I really love the texture of this paper... its' cool!

Both cards are currently for sale on my Etsy site HERE. I need to clean out the studio and stop adding cards to my stash!

Vintage Cherries

I bought this cool paper from my LSS and had it sitting in my stash waiting for the perfect opportunity. When I got the Cherries & Peaches set from Flourishes in the mail I knew it was time to dig this out and finally use it. The paper is from Studio 45.... have you seen this stuff??? Gorgeous, vintage looking images - love it!!

Once I get on a roll with a stamp and paper combo I like to keep going to use up the paper scraps that are sitting on the desk. Here are some closeups of the individual cards....

The above card was the firs one made. I colored the image with Copic Markers, then used lots of distressing techniques to give it a vintage look. The edges of the dp were punched with the Fiskars Treading Water border punch - I love this punch!! I have a few others, but this one is my "go to".

This is a small card that was made with the a scrap of olive cardstock that was on my desk and it measures 3.5" x 3.75". I added a layer of vanilla to the inside with the sentiment "True friends grow separately without growing apart". It's a pefect little pick-me-up card!

The last card was made with the remaining dp that was left on the desk and the smallest cherry image from the set. I added some Primas and buttons to this one as well. When I make a card like this I like lots of dimension, so usually glue one end of a layer down the the base and pop the other side up with dimensionals or just curl the paper up. I also like the look of ribbon threaded over and under the layers... it just adds a little more interest.

Love the texture that you can create with the Whitewash Core'dinations cardstock. I dry embossed the background of this card and the squares with cuttlebug embossing folders. The flowers are from Flourishes and were stamped with Cranberry Colorbox ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.

I quickly used the scraps from the top project to put this one together. The edges of the Core'dinations cardstock were sanded for added texture.

I used black and orange Core'dinations cardstock for both of today's cards. The edges were distressed and sanded on the first one and the pumpkin edges were distressed on the second. To create the pumpkin I simply die cut oval shapes and layered them for a 3d effect. The stamps and sentiments are from American Art Stamp.

Totally lovin' the Whitewash Core'dinations cardstock. I used a pink backed sheet for these three "Congratulations" cards. I did alot of embossing and sanding... one of my favorite things to do with this cardstock!

Vintage Violets

Created for an SCS sketch challenge. I used the violet stamp set from Flourishes for this card. The grosgrain ribbon at the bottom was pleated with machine basting, then adhered to the panel. I added some lacy Prima flowers, buttons, and a corsage pin to complete the look.

Funky Christmas Trees

More American Art stamps in the mail last week and this super cute Christmas tree image was one of them... I love it! I used today's SCS color combo for a non-traditional Xmas card. I think all my cards this year will be non-traditional colors.

The blush background was cuttlebugged. I colored the main image with copics and white gel pen. The layout is a bit random.... but I just kept adding more embellishments 'til I was happy.

Color Outstide The Lines

When I was coloring some of the new American Art Stamp images yesterday I stumbled across a kinda cool looking technique.... coloring OUTSIDE of the lines. I stamped the image on vanilla cardstock and used the markers to shade outside of the image, leaving the vase and flowers white with a few color highlights.... I LOVE the effect!!

I was a lucky girl yesterday and received a whole bunch of new goodies to play with in the mail.... yippeeee! This stamp set is from the new Zenspirations line at American Art Stamp. What fun!! I wasn't sure I'd totally love 'em when I first saw the images, but once I dug them out and started stamping I was filled with inpsiration... I love that feeling. Of course it's not good when I should be cleaning the house and getting ready for a cookout here later today, but I guess you gotta take it when you can get it!
