Christmas Color Challenge

Today's color challenge on SCS was old olive (one of my all time favorite colors), Aqua and red. I purchased this Stampin set from My Favorite Things last Christmas and have made lots of cards with these cute little stockings. This set is designed by Lisa Johnson, one of my favorite stampers ever! We met about 6 years ago at a convention in LA, and she is as sweet as she is talented.

This card was stamped with colored inks, no coloring.... Which makes it super quick and easy to make. I stamped and cut out the stockings, then added an aqua colored scalloped trim to the top of the card. The bow was tied around a fork, have you ever done this method? It's so easy and makes the perfect little bow to add to a card. I used a serving sized fork for this size. It's pretty bad that I keep a variety of forks on my craft table just so I can tie whichever sized bow I want.

SRM Stickers has a new challenge blog giving you a great chance to win a prize package from the SRM Store! I use alot of SRM stickers, granted I'm on their design team, but even before that I used them. The are super easy to use and sometimes it's just nice not to bother with ink and coloring!

Here is my project using the Express Yourself/Mothers Day & Say it with Sticker/Mothers Day sets. I added a large royal rose from My Favorite Things, and die cuts from Cuttlebug for the leaves. The tag is the large Mixed Media tag from Top Dog Dies.

Flourishes Inspiration Challenge FLLCNOV13

Instagram print 2014 calendar

I love Instagram! And since I should that walgreens does Instagram prints in a 4x4 size I've been ordering them for all sorts of projects! This calendar uses 12 of my favorite scene prints combined with coordinated paper from a k&company 12x12 paper pad. Let me know what you think!

The calendar pages measure 8 x 8. I made them out of a nice heavy cardstock and a decorated paper clamp which provides enough pressure so the calendar will stand up on its own by fanning out the bottom of the pages, or can be hung on a wall.

Each calendar page has a 4 x 6 SRM Kraft bag attached for holding photos, envelopes/bills, appointment cards, or anything else that you would want to save as a reminder.

Each page also has a SRM Standard Mini Calendarand a 4 page notepad for jotting down notes & reminders. The notepad was simply cut from loose leaf paper than lightly glued together at the top and decorated with a scalloped strip of paper.

This whole project was made using coordinating designer paper from 12 x 12 paper pad. I like how all the colors work together and the variety of photo prints make it interesting. To coordinate with the SRM Kraft bags she used Kraft paper for the base of the mini calendars, SRM's Large Month stickers and a matte for the photo.

World Cardmarking Day with OWH & SRM

For world card making car I participated in the Operation Write Home blog hop by creating these cards using SRM Stickers and sketches from the OWH site. The sketches on the OWH site were so easy to follow! They have all the measurements clearly on the sketch, so I simply picked my colors, cut, and quickly assembled which left me time to finish 3 cards in about 45 minutes.

The first 2 were made with Sticker Sentiments - Thank You #51005

This last card used Fancy Sticker Sentiments - Thanks #55004

Bee-Cause You're Special

Created for SCS Ways to Use It Challenge #443. This was to inspired by honey, so I used a bee and flowers.... 2 major components in honey!!

For this card I used my Distress Markers again to watercolor the background. First I scribbled on Ranger Watercolor Cardstock leaving an orange spot at the top where I knew there would be a "label" area for the sentiment after I embossed it with a Spellbinders embossing folder Floral Labels #4.

The flowers are white Prima flowers sprayed brown/metallic gold with Glimmermist. I stamped the flower centers and added decorative brads. The bee is and sentiment are from DRS designs.

I trimmed the watercolor paper down to 4x5.25 so the kraft base card peeked through and added little black dots along the edges.

A Seamless Experience

Since trying out some of the new Tim Holtz distress markers a few weeks ago I've been kinda obsessed with anything Tim Holtz! I was at Michael's over the weekend and scored this "Seamless Experience" set for $4.99.... so I was anxious to play with it for today's sketch challenge on SCS.

I used the Ranger Watercolor cardstock for the background. This is the best watercolor paper I've ever used. My favorite thing to do is just doodle on the paper, spritz with water, then let the color go where ever it wants to flow. My first step was highlighting the sentiment and outlining the mannequin.

The sketch called for a long strip across the bottom placed over a square, so I used an embossed piece of goldtone vellum for my square and stamped a ruler from the stamp set. The ruler was done over a layer of gold Tim Holtz Distress paint which was spritzed with water, dried with a heat gun, then stamped.

I also watercolored a piece of twill tape to match the card and stamped it with the zig zag stitching. It's attached to the card with a safety pin.

Along the right edge I embossed with a chevron embossing folder then drew lines in between with the Distress Markers. After spritzing with water the lines blurred nicely.

I think the ruler is my favorite part of this card, I just love the distressed look to it! What is your favorite part?

Sweet Baby Card Portfolio

This project was made with a template from Kreate-A-Lope Box Templates. The template is the Portfolio Box Template, which was super easy to make and easily fits 6 embellished cards and envelopes. The nice thing about this portfolio is it only takes 1 sheet of 12x12 paper! I ended up using a sheet from an old DCWV baby themed paper pack and coordinated the cards with some other sheets from the pack.

The front is simply embellished with a pinking shear circle layered over another die cut circle - both from Spellbinders. The sentiment is a sticker from SRM Stickers.

The inside easily fits 3 cards and envelopes on each side.

I used a really cute piece of paper from the paper stack to line the inside of the portfolio.

Each of the cards was made with paper scraps and stickers from SRM Press. There was no stamping on this project, so it was really quick and easy to put together. The envelopes all have coordinating stickers as well. I just love using their products!

Quick July 4th card

Another quick and easy card to celebrate the 4th of July! This card was made with the star dies from My Favorite Things Blueprint die set #4. The black background and the strip for the sentiment are from blueprint set #1. These dies make it so easy to put together a card without thing too hard about measurements and which dies to combine. MFT already thought that our for you!

I used a sentiment sticker from SRM stickers on the die cut ribbon strip and then added 2 strips of border stickers above and below.

July 4th projects

I made a few cute little July 4th projects using stickers from SRM stickers. They have lots of great stickers for almost any occasion and they're super easy to use. The dies are all from My Favorite Things, they are called "Blueprints" and come with a who,e bunch of dies to create a card. I really love 'em!

The first project is a little notepad with matching pencils. I removed the cover, decorated the front then retreaded the wire back through so the whole front is decorated. The sentiment and mini pennants are from SRM, as are the cute pencils.

A Little Sunshine from SRM

This slider card was made from a template from Action Cards... it comes in a set of different templates, and all of them move in some way. They are plastic and you simply trace, cut, fold and glue. Not measuring required! I used my stickers from SRM as an inspiration for this card, and since today is officially the first day of summer! The set is called "Summer" and features lots of cute saying which are perfect for warm weather celebrations and scrapbooking.

Once the card slides open it reveals the sentiment "Life is Good" and also provides a spot for your own personal note.

Bombshell Stamps Banner Blog Hop

This months blog hop focus is on banners. Luckily my favorite set "Rose's Portrait" has a sweet little banner with a rose on it which made it perfect for this challenge! I used the inspiration from Ms. May's challenge for my colors and textures, with the little addition of the rose/coral paper. To get as much texture as possible I used 2 different cuttlebug embossing folders and embossed kraft core paper for additional contrast. The roses were all painted with pink glitter stickles.

SCS CAS Design Team Entry

This week is the design team search in SCS. Clean and simple always used to be a problem for me, but since I've been back from my stamping hiatus I've found CAS design to be much easier. For this challenge Denise used the Macy's cosmetic counter as a starting point, so instead of makeup we needed to use paint on our cards. It could be water colors, acrylics, re-inkers, wet embossing etc.... I used ink pads for my source of color. I have waxed paper palette paper which I stamped on, then used my paintbrush and watercolor paper to paint the background with ombré stripes. The cake was also colored with the re-inkers then coated with clear embossing fluid.

A Busy day of Stamping

Roses are Red

Created for a challenge on SCS using flowers on a card. I dug out and old set from Stampin Up a technique I pinned on Pinterest. Of course I didn't visit the blog when I pinned it, but did today when I decided the CASE the card. It's a design by juliehrr of course. She was one of my first stamping idols. Love how her simple designs always look amazing!

For this card I stamped and embossed in white on Kraft cardstock, one of my current favorite looks. I can never get my copics to look bright enough on Kraft when I color I though... It's always a little muted. The trick according to Julie is to use good old water based markers! I pulled out my stampin up markers which have been collecting dust since I discovered copics and voila! They colored beautifully on Kraft! Plus the water based marker wipes off the white embossing powder easily for a nice vibrant look. Love it!

Cleaning the desk & using the scraps

I really needed to clean off my stamping table from all the scraps of paper I used last week. I've been putting them in a pile meaning to file them away with the other scraps, but decided to combine all of them into a card instead. All the dp scraps were pieced onto kraft paper card blank. I tried to go with the original sizes as much as I could without trimming and somehow got it to work. The ribbon was also left over from a another card, worked colorwise with the rest of the paper. I used the my new favorite polka dot die for the background behind the owl, but since he was kinda blending in to the kraft color, I added an ivory circle.

Congratulations.... Twins!

Today's teapot challenge on SCS was to create a card for the birth of twins, one boy and one girl. I found this super cute stamp from My Favorite Things 2 little bunnies (perfect for twins) and a teacup, perfect the the teacup challenge. I colored the bunnies with copics, then used a stardust pen to color in their ears, tail and feet. I then went searching for designer paper to go with my "baby" colors - which lucky for me all came out of my scrap bag. I love when I get a chance to use up scraps without having to cut into something new.

My favorite part of the card are the rolled, scalloped roses from My Favorite Things. They really only take a small bit of scrap paper (about 2x2) and they are really easy to roll up and secure with a dot of hot glue. I made three for this card and then cut the leaves from another dotted scrap of paper then heavily sanded the edges so they weren't so bright against the pale colors.

The silver edging on the main layers is from Flower Soft. They are simply super thin metallic lines to outline images. Love them! Someone gave me a couple of packets a few years ago and I still have some left. You can find more here.

Chalkboard Card

Today's challenge on SCS was chalkboard stamping. It's so easy to do and has such a cool look to it. Simply emboss on black card stock with white EP then use white ink to add some chalk dust to the edges.

I made this card with a teacher in mind, so I used some alphabet paper from vintage 45 and made a homemade apple with a trimmed circle punched from a dark red DCWV paper which I sanded to added distressing. Then I added a little cuttlebug punched leaf to top it off.

Cosmo full of love

I was looking through the Impression Obsession blog and saw that an upcoming challenge was "your choice" using their stamps. I have a bunch of them from my stint on their design team and particularly love the Leigh Hannan stamps. I used Funky Valentine for both of these cards.

The first card uses the Cosmo stamp. I colored it with copics and lots of glitter from Spica glitter pens (my favorite obsession right now). The dotted layer was cut with a Spellbinders polka dot die, which I had to buy after seeing a card made by clownmom on SCS.

The second card was made for a SCS challenge. I love the green and purple together, which were the colors in the inspiration photo I choose. This card was also colored with copics and highlighted with Spica glitter pens. You can see the glitter a little bit on this one.... It's always so hard to photo.
