“Three main parties for this story. Bob, Rosie and Myself.

I live in the UK. I don’t have a driveway I can use. I have a car.

Rosie said I could park in front of her fence last year. Bob said I was blocking him in. This was last year so I moved and now park in a turning circle sort of place. Vehicles can still turn so I’m not a nuisance.

It sounds like Bob might need to get a life…

For months I’ve noticed whenever I pull up whether it be after midnight after a night shift. Or late afternoon I see Bob standing there, staring at me. ALL THE TIME.

I reverse into “the space” so my car can immediately drive off as I work in a job which could require me to be there ASAP. I don’t need the hassle of turning around as this can easily be a 10 minute process depending on how busy the road is.

Wow! These people…

Anyway I find out yesterday Bob’s wife has posted on the local area’s Facebook page calling me a creep. Saying I’m staring through their window so I can look at her daughters.

Lovely allegations which can destroy someone’s life. First and foremost the issue is I’m a queer non binary person and I don’t hide that. I also fall under the trans umbrella and obviously so so I feel like this may be them trying to stir up more local hatred.

This situation has turned ugly…

I sit in my car after work as I still live at home with family so decompress by sitting there and essentially disassociating. That is why I know Bob is always staring before anyone wonders as I see the movement.

I don’t want to respond to the Facebook post. I don’t want to speak to them in person as they’ve screamed at me before.

What would you do?

Lady orders me to let her out of no-parking zone

I have a highly specific job that usually sends me to construction sites where I… well, somebody not knowing what I do would say, I just watch the digger load trucks. (Of course its more complicated than this but it’s not important for the story)

My company is usually hired by the owner of the site, not the company which is actually building there.

Because of this I only have to work with the workers there but am not required to do something else.

They needed somewhere to park their vehicles.

So on to the story.

I was sent to a construction site in the city with very few parking space around.

Because of this, the company building there had a deal with the city to declare space alongside the road usually used for parking to a no-parking zone to be able to store some of their stuff there and had set up signs to make this clear.

One lady really messed up!

It was summer at the time and pretty hot, the operator of the digger and I were the only people on site through lunch time when some lady shouted to me to come to the entrance of the construction site.

I had set myself up in pretty much the only piece of shadow on the whole site and really wasn´t in the mood to leave that spot.

So I shouted back to her to tell me what she wants.

Turns out she had parked in the no-parking zone and hadn´t noticed that the workers had set up a movable fence to surround that zone to be able to store their tools there without it getting stolen right away. So her car, a porsche, was almost boxed in as 2/3 of her car were in the no-parking zone.

He decided to take a closer look.

She is still shouting at me so after seeing whats going on I get interested and move on.

I get to her, covered in dust, taking my time moving up to her.

She was in her 40s maybe and wore high heels and a nice dress, typical business-woman.

The whole time she was shouting to me to speed up and move faster, she is in a hurry.

He didn’t feel like helping her.

So finally I´m in front of her.

Lady: “Finally, that took you ages! Now move that damn fence so I can pull out of there. Why would you even box me in?”

I turn around slowly and look at her car. I would have been easy for me (even for herself) to move the fence and let her out. But she wasn´t very nice and I wasn´t obliged to help her.

Me: “Sorry, won´t do that.”

She had a hard time processing this.

Lady: “What! Why would you say that? Let me out, *notniceword*!”

Me: “I don´t work here.”

I said that, standing in front of here, covered in dust, wearing my high visibility vest and my hard hat.

Left her speechless for a moment. Then all hell broke loose.

She was REALLY angry.

I was lying, she would get me fired, she would call the police because this was theft, she knew the mayor and all kind of other things.

I just stood there, pretty amused on the inside, just like the operator in his digger who was laughing so loud, I almost could hear him over her screeching.

While it was amusing seeing her go off at this point a was a bit mad too, because I only could imagine how this entitled brat was speaking to people she actually had power over.

Perfect timing!

While she was in her tirade two policemen turned the corner.

She must have noticed the grin on my face because she abruptly turned around and saw the two approaching her car.

Lady: “Finally someone who can help me! Tell this *anothernotsoniceword* to move the fence so I can pull out!”

The two policemen looked at her and then at her car, finally at me. One of them walked to the vehicle and the other approached me.

The police understood.

PM: “Whats going on here?”

Me: “She ordered me to let her out of the no-parking zone but I don´t work for *building companys name*.” I pointed to the big signs where the well known building company advertised itself and to my name-tag (I wear one in my high visibility vest) with my companys name on.

The policeman understood very fast (this no-parking zones are pretty common in the city).

He walked over to his colleague who was the target of the woman now and said a few words to him. He pulled out a small book and began writing a ticket.

She couldn’t get out of it.

Only then it downed on the lady that she was in trouble.

She still kept shouting that she did nothing wrong because she was boxed in and wouldn´t be in the no-parking zone if only I would let her pull away.

PM: “He doesn´t work here and you are parking in a no-parking zone. Here is your ticket.”
He handed her the ticket and moved the fence to let her pull out.

It really is funny.

She was standing there a few seconds with the ticket in hands, speechless. Then she got on her car, giving me the stink-eye, and went off.

I tipped my hard hat when the two policemen continued their walk and went back to tell the operator of the digger what happened.

Had a good laugh after all.

It was a no-parking zone when she parked there. The police did the right thing.

A man who had spent years as a caregiver for his brother after a life-changing accident watched that same brother enter a serious relationship without telling his boyfriend the full picture.

My brother (27M) was in an accident when he was 19, and this accident changed everything about both his life and the lives of my sister (22F), myself (24M), and our parents.

For years after his accident, both my sister and I became his caregivers.

Luckily, now his life looks much different.

Years have passed and my brother has mostly recovered to the point where he can live on his own and function almost like anybody else.

We’re all so incredibly proud of how far he’s come, and so happy to see him back to his old self again.

This is where the issue started.

When he brought a new guy around, the family started wondering if their brother had been honest about his disability.

His new boyfriend (28M) is the sweetest, kindest, most up-front person on the face of the planet.

He’s also very open and honest about his own hardships and is always talking about how honesty is the most vital part of his healing process.

When my brother first started seeing him, I figured he would’ve already told him about his disability.

Soon, they came to a troubling realization.

Yet three months later, when I officially met his new boyfriend, it became blazingly obvious to both my sister and I that he never told his boyfriend.

I wanted to talk to his boyfriend right away, but my sister told me not to and that I should let my brother tell his boyfriend in time.

That time never seemed to come.

They started wondering if proper considerations for accessibility were being made.

Almost a year later, I went to help my brother move into his boyfriend’s apartment, and there was no thought or care towards making things accessible for him.

The things his boyfriend was asking him to do were simply things that my sister and I knew weren’t possible, all things considered.

My brother brushed it all off and delegated those tasks to me or my sister.

So eventually one of the siblings just spoke up on his own.

When my brother and sister left the apartment, I took the opportunity to explain everything to his boyfriend.

His boyfriend told me that he was very aware of his disability, but what he knew only scratched the surface.

I explained what things my brother might need help with even though he’d never ask for it, and I figured it was over.

Obviously, the brother wasn’t pleased when he found out.

A week ago my brother called me, cursing me out for going behind his back and sharing those details with his boyfriend.

I thought I was helping him, figured it was too much for him to explain on his own, and I’d rather sleep at night knowing that the man in bed next to my brother knew how to help him wholly.

My brother insisted that it wasn’t my story to tell, and I get that to an extent, but the story did need to be told.

Two things can be true at the same time.

Good intentions don’t always get you off the hook.

Eventually the brother has to learn for himself, even if it means making a mistake here and there.

His brother is right that it was not his story to tell. He is also right that the story needed to be told. Both of those things are true, and they don’t necessarily cancel each other out.

A man who spent years as a caregiver watching his brother fight his way back to independence has a different relationship with that history than someone who just learned it second hand.

The intention was never to expose his brother. It was to make sure the person sharing his life actually knew how to be there for him.

Sure, the delivery could have been handled differently — and he probably should have talked to his brother first, so he wasn’t so blindsided.

Imagine being a delivery driver who drivers a semi truck. What would you do if a car was parking in the loading zone? Would you try to squeeze in anyway, wait until they leave to unload your delivery, or call a tow truck?

In this story, one delivery driver is in this situation, and he is not about to let the entitled woman who parked in the loading zone get away with it! In fact, he is determined to make her pay for her mistake.

The situation escalates more when a garbage truck really blocks her in, and the tow truck driver’s reaction was pretty awesome!

But the entitled woman’s reaction when she realized what happened? Well, as you can imagine, she was not happy. Keep reading for all the details.

Maam, No parking in the loading zone.

I was delivering to a larger mixed retail strip mall in a Toronto suburb.

The place doesn’t have a rear delivery area so by design there is blocked off areas on the side of the complex to allow delivery vehicles, garbage, and couriers access to unload during the day.

The place also has a medical center next door. That medical center charges for parking; the strip mall doesn’t. So enterprising cheap people will park and walk over, even though a multitude of signs prohibiting the practice are plastered all over the lot.

Some people park in the loading zone even though they really shouldn’t.

So the complication is that loading area is closest to the medical arts building, has parking lines laid down but is signed No Parking – Loading Zone 0800-1700. Mon-Fri

Dozens of cube trucks use this lot daily for their needs, however it’s not often that a full sized semi (Me) has to use it. I need every inch of that lot to position properly so that I can get the freight off and on my merry way.

Often I’ll arrive and there is a single car or two occupying a space. They are a bother but can be negotiated around easily.

On this morning I rolling into the lot when a full sized Escalade pulls in behind me, and parks right beside the loading ramp in the one spot that absolutely ruins my approach. There is literally 50 spots in the loading zone to choose, and like 500 spots in the actual parking lot.

The driver didn’t care if she was in the way.

I rolled down my window and motioned I need to use the ramp.

Now most self-aware self-conscious people would get the hint.

Nope Mrs. SelfImportant decided that she’s parked, y’all can deal, unloads her booger eaters into the stroller and obviously ignores me as I’m protesting her parking choice.

My parting shot “Great example you are setting for your kids lady” Earned me some shade and a casual obscured middle finger salute.

But he wasn’t going to let her get away with that.

Fine then! I have nothing but time on my hands, rushing around and in a hurry I can solve that for you!

Called the towing number on the sign, says they are less than an hour out. Then called my store contact who spotted my reversing, he also called the towing company to complain, with an extra pair of eyes I placed my truck inches from her back bumper; snapped a couple cell pics for liability coverage and started unloading.

Then Karma came calling: Self addressed to Mrs. SelfImportant.

A compactor garbage truck came through to empty out the malls bins a little over to the right of Mrs. SelfImportant parking spot. After some eye rolls from the garbage truck driver, the empty bin miraculously managed to end up blocking her only path of escape after my tight squeeze parking.

Oh crap she’s hemmed in now!

The tow truck finally arrived.

So I got a crew of guys unloading me, we’re all anxious knowing that it is gonna hit the fan.

Finally the fruits of our labour ripen. The tow truck arrives, looks at the situation we’ve created and is nothing but laughs, he’s snapping pictures of the mess.

He dollies the wheels of the Escalade and slides it perfectly out and onto his flatbed, 10 minutes and he’s gone.

Security arrived during the tow out and remained.

Here’s what happened when the entitled driver returned.

Sure enough 90 minutes after leaving Mrs. SelfImportant is returning from the Medical Center rugrats in tow. Goes from 0 to righteous nuclear indignation in an instant, DEMANDS to know where her car is.

One of the guys unloading me hollers “Oh the one blocking the ramp, it’s towed”

Her phone is out in an instant videoing us claiming harassment, theft, damages. She’s on 911 in a flash accusing the us of stealing her car.

The police were on his side.

Security quickly intervened and in the most professionally condescending tone possible explain the signs, the tow away loading zone, and the contact for the company who towed it.

The Regions finest in blue show up and take over; I give a quick statement and the officers basically says “Ahh a civil matter.”

She ends up relenting defeated and a taxi is called. I wrap up unloading my truck under her murderous stare.

So I’m rolling out and on my way, and I get a text from my dispatcher. “You stealing peoples cars now?”

Hopefully, she’ll pay attention to the no parking signs next time.

I think my favorite part of this story was the tow truck driver’s reaction to the situation. The fact that he found it hilarious and took pictures says a lot because I’m sure he sees a lot of crazy reasons why people need their cars towed.

Have you ever had a problem with your car, but when you take it to a mechanic to look at it, the problem doesn’t happen for them? That’s what the dad in this story experienced when he bought a brand new Cadillac but noticed a whistling sound when he was on the freeway.

Finally, one of the techs offered to ride along with him to see if he heard the sound, but the ride resulted in revenge.

My dad bought a brand new Cadillac in the late sixties, early seventies.

It had wind noise/whistling at freeway speeds with the windows up and the HVAC off.

He had it at the dealership three times with the techs saying they heard nothing.

The warranty was almost up and my dad went back again. Finally they have a tech drive while he rode shotgun.

He got revenge.

The tech lit up a cigarette, turned on the radio, drove on the freeway and told my dad he heard nothing.

My dad suggested that he drives and to see if they hear it then.

Once the tech pulled over on the break down lane of the freeway, got out and closed the door, my dad hit the door locks, slid across the bench seat and took off with that jerk on the side of the road about 3 miles away from the dealership.

A few months later he takes the car back to the same dealership and drops it off for an oil change.

Oh, NOW they hear it!

The dealership calls him up and says they noticed a whistling noise and they can fix it for $300.00.

My dad says it’s been there for that same issue a few times already and the mechanics at the shop couldn’t find it.

The service writer says “oh, you’re the guy who left our guy on the side of the road. Don’t worry, we’ll take care of you”.

When he picked up the car, they asked for his side of the story and he told them. I have a feeling they had a talk with that guy.

How would the tech hear the whistling sound with the radio on? I’m glad OP’s dad finally got his car fixed.

If you are living with your parents as an adult, it makes sense to pay rent to them to cover your expenses. Keeping your finances separate, however, is the normal way of doing this.

What would you do if your mother set up your benefits payments to go directly onto her account, from which she took out your rent payment, and sent you the rest?

That is what happened to the person in this story, and when he asked his Mom to have the money sent to him and that he would pay rent out of it, she got very upset. Now he isn’t sure if he did something wrong, but he still wants control over his own money.

So, for background, I receive universal credit, and pay an amount of that towards rent so I can live with my parents.

Why wasn’t the money sent to his card to begin with?

I don’t get a lot of money, and it’s cheaper than renting my own place.

The money I have gets sent to my mother’s card instead of my own, and I was thinking of having it changed to my card for a while.

I think this seems very reasonable.

I want to do this because it would be easier to simply send her the rent money instead of her having to subtract it and work out how much she’s supposed to send to me (she’s not good at maths so it takes around 30 minutes for her to just subtract the rent from what I’m getting paid).

That, and I would just feel more comfortable if I was receiving the money that’s entitled specifically to me.

This makes me wonder why he thinks they can’t trust their mother.

My brother brought up that he wouldn’t trust our mother with his money, and it reminded me that I was thinking of asking the providers to send the money somewhere else.

So, when she got back, I asked her how I’d go about that (she herself receives universal credit, so she would of course know how to work the website, whereas I’ve only been getting it for a month or so, and barely know how the website works).

If Mom is getting upset about this, she is likely hiding something. I can see why his brother doesn’t trust her.

As it turns out, while she was gone, she was using the camera in the living room to snoop on what me and my brother were talking about, and is now throwing a tantrum because I happened to remember that I wanted to change where my money goes, and asked her how I go about that.

Personally, I think she’s being childish, and her claims that she isn’t being paranoid when she’s literally spying on me to see what I’m being told by other people just proves that it’s the complete opposite.

Yup, this is how I see it as well.

If anything, to me, her throwing a fit because I want MY money to be sent to MY card instead of hers just proves what my brother says about not trusting her with it.

Surely, if she was trustworthy, she’d have no issue with showing me how I have the money sent to another persons card.

AITA?

There are a lot of questions left unanswered here, including why these people get this money and why it was set up this way. Also, how old is this person? That being said, based only on what is here, it does seem to make sense that the money should go to him, and Mom is definitely acting weird about it.

Consent is a reasonable thing to require before attaching someone’s name to a nearly $900 spending proposal, and this neighbor skipped that step entirely.

A resident who agreed to chip in $40 for a simple light upgrade discovered her name on a board submission that had quietly grown to include outdoor furniture, decorative accessories, planters, and a delivery fee.

She asked for a correction privately, but her neighbor said no and kept moving.

That’s when the resident sent her own email to the board to clarify exactly what she had agreed to.

So when the project was thwarted, the neighbor accused her of embarrassing her.

I live in a condo building.

We have a small shared patio — nothing fancy, but we love it.

About a week ago, a neighbor posted in the chat that she wanted to replace the lights there.

So one neighbor came up with a fair split that everyone could contibute to.

She found an option for about $200 and said that if a few people put in some money, it would come out to about $30 to $40 per person.

I agreed to contribute up to $40 for the lights.

A few days ago, I received an email from the condo board.

The email included a list of residents supporting the project, with my name on it.

The homeowner realizes the original scope of the request has expanded dramatically.

I opened the attachment and saw that it wasn’t just lights anymore.

It included an outdoor rug, decorative pillows, planters, new chairs, and a delivery fee.

The total amount was nearly $900.

My name was listed next to the full project, not just the lights.

She decides she needs to get ahead of this issue.

But I never agreed to these additions — I, like other neighbors, had only agreed to contribute to the lights.

I messaged her privately first and told her that I hadn’t supported the entire plan.

I had only agreed to the lights and only up to $40.

She makes her request clear, but her neighbor keeps pushing her on it.

I asked her to correct the request herself before the board reviewed it, or to remove my name.

She replied that it was all part of a single idea and that the board takes requests more seriously when it sees resident support.

Then she said she wouldn’t change anything now because it would cause confusion and delays.

I said she could have found more people to join, but she just ignored it.

So this homeowner is forced to take another route.

Having no other option, I replied to the condo board myself.

I stated that I supported replacing the patio lights up to $40, but that I did not approve the full patio refresh and the attached budget, as it was too expensive.

After that, two more neighbors wrote similar comments.

When the request was thwarted, the neighbor was irate.

The condo board asked her to revise the request.

Now my neighbor says that me and the others have embarrassed her and derailed a community improvement project because of our greed and wording.

AITA?

This neighbor is 100% in the wrong.

The neighbor in this story seemed to think that if she just bulldozed full steam ahead, then no one would notice that she was completely taking advantage of them. But that isn’t what happened at all.

She took a simple, reasonable conversation about lighting and quietly expanded it into a full patio overhaul, then attached names to the larger proposal without going back to the people those names belonged to.
When asked privately to fix it, she said no and called it a timing issue.

In this day and age, $900 isn’t something most people are willing to part with just to save face.

So I’m at a restaurant with my mom and our server is this young girl.

I assume she hasnt been working for too long because she’s unecessarily overly nice like complimenting every single little thing I wore and constantly holding conversations with a baby in the booth behind ours.

She made quite a few small, but annoying mistakes like bringing the wrong hot sauce, forgetting food items, and even getting those items wrong.

Whatever.

It was time to pay the bill.

The bill comes to $25.08. I pay $30.08 (bc I like to give cents under .50 exact).

She comes by, picks everything up and says thank you.

Mom and I stay waiting for the change for about 15 minutes even though she’s attending tables around us.

She never came by.

When did it become acceptable to ASSUME money given is yours? Why would you ASSUME that even $5 are yours? Maybe that’s what I would’ve left, but bc it’s MY choice, not yours.

I called her to the table and simply asked, “Could I have my change now?”

She apologized saying she thought it was her tip bc I left exact change.

Like, no. I left her only $3 instead.

Okay, I think I misread it at first, because I thought she was saying that the bill was $25.08 and she paid $30.08, meaning that the extra $5 was the tip. While the server shouldn’t have assumed the extra money was her tip, I can understand the misunderstanding.

Probably the very worst thing about living with strangers is not knowing what you are getting until they arrive – and in many cases, until long after they’ve arrived. After all, it can take a little while for a person to show their true colours.

It’s really the luck of the draw. You might end up living with people who, in time, become your best friends. Or it’s just as likely that you’ll end up with people you have nothing at all in common with, and have a cordial but generally non rememberable relationship with. But in the worst case scenario, you could find yourself living with people who are objectively terrible, and who make the time you live there miserable.

The fifth year college student in this story thought he’d got around this by choosing to spend his final year living in a house he’d already lived in with friends (and friends of friends). But soon after the semester started, it became quite clear that this was not to be the case. But they could never have imagined the drama that would come next.

Roommates’ revenge

Back in the 1989/1990 school year, I was a fifth-year senior living off-campus at a large Midwestern university. In my fourth year, I shared the bottom floor of a house with three other guys. Two of them graduated and one needed only to finish up a class or two, so he decided to commute for his last semester. I wanted to stay in the same house, so I arranged to get three other roommates for my final year.

I had the following roommates: Bob 1 (with whom I worked at the campus library. An art student with a sarcasm problem. A bit of an ***, but not a terrible human being), Bob 2 (a friend of Bob 1. Yes, they had the same name. No, this is not their real name), Mamma’s Boy (a third roommate who is important in this story only because of his departure), and Chunk (the roommate who replaced Mamma’s Boy about six weeks into the semester. He will be the focus of this tale.)

This story also involved Tim the Landlord, His is the only name I have not changed. This is not because Tim the Landlord is guilty, but because he is a prince among people and needs to be celebrated.

Tim was the sort of man who, when he sees evil, slaps it across the face with his veiny manhood and then drinks mead from the skulls of his enemies. Your children should wish to be half the human being that Tim was for this year.

Let’s see what the setup of their house share was.

As I say, we had the bottom floor of a house. There was a common bathroom, a kitchen, and a living room. Off the southeast corner of the living room was a single bedroom.

Off the southwest corner was a second bedroom that connected, through a slightly smaller room, to the bathroom.

The first year I lived in the house, one guy paid extra and got the southeast bedroom to himself. The other two guys and I shared the two connected rooms, with the guy who got his own room paying a little more in rent.

This second year, I paid a little more rent and got my own room with the two Bobs and Mamma’s boy sharing the two-room “suite.”

Read on to find out how their situation got underway.

School started and everything seemed fine. But unbeknownst to us, Mamma’s Boy is not happy. Despite him being a college senior, this was the first time he’d ever lived away from home, and it turned out that he was not a fan.

He didn’t like having roommates, he didn’t like making his own meals, he didn’t like doing his own laundry. So, after six weeks of these living arrangements, he left and went back home to mom.

The other three of us panicked. We couldn’t each come up with the additional money to cover Mamma’s Boy’s quarter of the rent (yes, it would have only been about $55/month, but all of us were working minimum wage jobs. At that time, minimum wage was under $4/hr, so that money was something close to a week’s wages for a part-time job).

So we went across the street (literally) to Tim the Landlord’s house and tell him of our woes.

Read on to find out how Tim the Landlord responded.

As I said, Tim was a man among boys and a man among men. He tells us that he would find us a fourth guy. But this was a bigger problem than you may at first realise. With school already six weeks in, everybody already had housing, so no one was looking for a roommate, but Tim said he’d handle this for us.

Further, proving just how great of a human being he was, Tim told us that on the off chance that the guy he found for us proves to be a complete waste of oxygen, he’d put the guy on a separate lease. We’d be responsible for our part of the rent and the guy he found for us would be responsible for his part. This way, we wouldn’t be liable of the guy proved to be a flake.

The guy Tim found for us was Chunk. Chunk was not a college student, but a local who was looking to move out of his house. He worked construction, mostly installing drywall, and made pretty good money doing it. Even more, while his boss kept him on the books, he was on not as a full-time worker, so most of his money came in under the table and untaxed.

However, Chunk was not the smartest of human beings.

Let’s see how Chunk lived his life in this house.

Despite coming home every Friday with $4-600 cash (keep in mind, those are 1989 dollars, so something closer to $1,000/week), he would regularly have to return to a store on Thursday night to return a purchase so that he had enough money to buy himself dinner. I have no idea where his money went.

We assumed he would go to crowded college bars and buy rounds of drinks for everyone. The money wasn’t going to drugs, although now that I think about it, it could have been fueling a steroid habit. However, since he was on his own lease, as long as he covered his share of things like gas, electric, and phone, we were all good.

However, Chunk was a terrible roommate. Big, stupid, loud, and just about everything else you could think of. He left dirty dishes everywhere and refused to wash them. It got to the point where I bought my own cookware and dishes and kept them in my room. He would eat other people’s food and replace it with cheap, substandard versions. Oh, you bought yourself a package of Oreos? He’d eat them and replace them with a smaller package of generic, off-brand sandwich cookies.

He’d use other people’s towels after he took a shower, and if you didn’t like that, he’d tell you that the best way to handle the dispute was to go out front and fight about it. After all, if he could beat the **** out of you (and he could), he must be right. He bought himself Pay-Per-View movies and, since we all lived there, thought we should all pay for them even though we didn’t watch them. Still, he was a necessary evil. We didn’t plot revenge against him, but eventually, revenge fell into our laps.

To give you an idea of just how dumb Chunk really was, though, here’s the prime example. Chunk lost his job. Because his boss kept him on the books a little, he managed to get unemployment. However, since he had lost his income, he panicked regarding his rent.

He went to talk to Tim the Landlord, who agreed to let Chunk work for him through the winter shoveling his various properties and doing other menial tasks in exchange for his rent. As I say, Best Beloved, Tim was the sort of man we should all aspire to be.

So, after claiming poverty to Tim, Chunk went out and bought himself a motorcycle, then asked Tim if there was anywhere safe he could park it. His new motorcycle that he purchased after claiming he couldn’t pay his rent.

One fine spring day, Chunk was out gallivanting on his motorcycle when he did something stupid like blow through a stop sign. He was naturally pulled over by a cop who had seen this action, and when the cop walked up to discuss his behaviour with him, Chunk decided the best course of action was to drive away as quickly as he could.

And this revenge plot was just getting started.

So we’ve got a traffic incident and leaving the scene to start with, so our count of problems Chunk has caused for himself is at two. As it happened, Chunk drove off because 3) he didn’t have insurance or 4) a license because he’d had it suspended. Why? Because he 5) blew off his court date for his earlier arrest on a 6) DUI.

Chunk was suddenly a wanted fugitive. He was Public Enemy #1 in our little college farm town. Evidently, he drove home and hid in our basement for a couple of hours before realising that eventually the police would get his address and come looking. He left and vanished into the wind.

I knew none of this at the time, as I was working the circulation desk of the college library. I got home just after midnight, said hello to the two Bobs, and walked into my bedroom. Lo and behold, Bob 1’s girlfriend was sitting on my bed. I turned, look at the Bobs, and said, “Okay…explain.”

Bob 1 said, “Well, I had her go into your room so that she wasn’t involved when the cops showed up.” I nodded and said, “Okay…explain.”

The Bobs explained, and I learned of all of the events of Chunk and his desperate flight from the law. Just as the explanation has finished, the police showed up again and questioned us.

Now, we had endured about seven months of living with this idiot and the three of us hated him about as much as three college-aged guys can hate another human being. And it’s worth noting that the two Bobs had to share rooms with this human trash fire, so they got it worse than I did and hated him more than I did.

We assured the police that if we knew anything, they’d be the first to know it. We wanted this ******* out of our lives, and if the police could bring that about, so much the better.

The next day, we went across the street to talk to Tim the Landlord. Tim’s response was as pragmatic as it was epic. “He hasn’t paid me in months and he hasn’t done any work for me in months,” was Tim’s reply. “Why don’t you guys evict him?”

So with that, they took action.

And so we did. We gathered up all of Chunk’s stuff and put it in the shed behind the house. All of his clothing, his weight bench, and even his food. Everything (with a single exception—we’ll get to that) was moved to the shed.

We printed up a series of eviction notices and posted them around the house—front door, back door, interior door, windows. Pretty much every possible point of access into our part of the house had a notice for Chunk telling him that he’d been booted by Tim the Landlord, that his stuff was in the shed, and that he owed us for supporting his out-of-work ass for things like gas, electric, and phone for the previous several months. Been a slice, bro. Don’t let the door hit you and don’t bend over for the soap.

That evening, Bob 2 had just finished calling in to work, saying that he couldn’t come in because he was (fake cough) “sick.” He put the phone down and it rang immediately. It was Chunk! He’d called to tell us that he had to leave town for a couple of weeks. Could we put some of his stuff together for him?

Why yes, we said. Your *** has been evicted, my friend. Your stuff is conveniently already together for you in the shed out back.

Let’s see how Chunk responded to the eviction.

Chunk was outraged that the rules actually applied to him and that he could be evicted for something as trivial as not paying rent for three months. He slammed down the phone.

Roughly an hour later, there was noise outside the house. The eviction notices were being pulled down. The prodigal son had returned, and has brought some of his steroid-junkie friends with him to help gather his belongings.

We lifted the phone receiver. We dialled the phone. “Hello, Farm Town police? Are you still looking for the dangerous outlaw Chunk? Well, we are his roommates, and he is here collecting his belongings after being evicted. You might want to send some patrol cars ‘round to this address to collect him.”

We waited. Minutes later, two squad cars rolled up, sirens off, but lights on. One blocked the driveway, the other stood ready by the field to the east of the house. Cops exited the cars and flanked the house, guns drawn. It was like an episode of “Cops,” except that we could not change the channel. We ran to the kitchen where the windows overlooked the shed. Cops arrived. Chunk was busted. Chunk offered a lame excuse. Cops were not having it. Chunk was cuffed, dragged to a squad car and driven away.

But that wasn’t the end of the Chunk ordeal.

Moments later, basking in the milky afterglow, one of the Bobs realised that while we put almost everything of Chunk’s in the shed, we neglected to give him his beer. We celebrated Chunk’s arrest by drinking his beer.

Several weeks later, Bob 2 and I graduated. That morning, we decided that our best course of action was to sue Chunk for the money he owed us. We did. Small claims court was a few weeks later. Chunk again failed to show up. Decision for the plaintiffs to the tune of about $650.

I never saw a dime of that money, but I slept better knowing that if Chunk ever tried to get a loan for as much as a pack of gum, he had that unpaid settlement on his record.

And that is the story of how two of my roommates and I got our other roommate arrested and out of our lives.

Eventually, scumbags like Chunk get their just desserts, and for those they’ve terrorised it’s sweet.

So it’s no wonder that these students got all the retribution they could for all the drama Chunk brought to their lives.

And justice must have been amazing.

It’s a real shame that this guy’s last year of college was blighted by so much roommate drama. Sure he was living in the house he’d enjoyed staying in, but the roommate turnover probably wasn’t too enjoyable for him. At least he had the Bobs on his side. Because when their first roommate left the house, they thought things were bad – but they never imagined quite how bad things could get, since they’d never experienced a roommate like Chunk before.

The real hero, though, is Tim. There aren’t many landlords nowadays who treat their tenants with so much understanding and kindness – and the fact that he found them a new roommate (however awful he ended up) and put him on a separate rental agreement shows just how much he was on their side. And let’s not forget that he was letting Chunk live there even though he was so behind on rent. What a rare gem this landlord was.

Going on a cruise with a bunch of friends is always a good time, but occasionally, drama can unfold.

What would you do if you were on the ship waiting for the rest of your group to come back, and you asked the one friend who was with you to take some pictures of you for your Instagram, which later made his girlfriend upset?

That is what happened to the young lady in this story, and even when she tried to assure his girlfriend that there was nothing to worry about, she is still upset.

I (15F) recently went on a cruise with a big group of friends.

Honestly, 5’10” isn’t that tall.

There was this water ride on the ship that everyone was super excited to go on. The problem is, I’m really tall for my age (like 5’10″), and I was just too tall for the ride.

My friend’s boyfriend (18M) was the only guy there and he was too tall to get on the ride too, so he waited with me for them.

No big deal, taking pictures of each other is a pretty normal thing.

While we were waiting, we got bored, and the lighting on the deck was perfect. I’d been trying to post on my insta, so I asked him to take a few photos of me.

He said sure, and he took some pictures of me on the deck of the cruise while everyone else was on their ride.

Her friend seems jealous.

So, today my friend saw him texting me the pictures he took, and she got pissed at me and accusing me of “flirting” with her boyfriend behind her back.

I tried explaining to her that it’s literally just for my insta, we were bored out of our minds waiting for them, and absolutely nothing happened but she won’t listen.

No way, she did nothing wrong and shouldn’t have to apologize. Her friend is being insecure and jealous.

When you hire someone to join your company, you need to be able to trust that they will work honestly and do their best.

What would you do if one of your employees had been lying to customers and claiming to be the manager when he is not?

That is what happened at the company in this story, so the manager fired him on the spot, but now he is wondering if he reacted too strongly.

So, I’m the manager of a construction company set up by my parents before they retired a few years ago and although I’m relatively young to be running it (28), I think I’m doing pritty well.

What a great opportunity.

Around 6 months ago a friend on my father’s lost his job and because of his age (mid 50s) he was having trouble finding other work so I was asked to give him a job.

So I did because I knew the guy had a lot of experience in the area.

This is not going well.

As soon as he started I noticed him either not listening to me or just rolling his eyes when ever I took charge and he would occasionally make comments like “I know what I’m doing” and “I’ve been doing this longer then you.

But I ignored this because I figured it must be hard for him to be taking orders from someone almost half his age so I mostly ignored it…until yesterday.

I doubt that this was just an honest mistake.

Yesterday I was having a few issues with one of our clients (nothing major we just couldn’t decide on the best way to procide with the job) and he suddenly comes out with “Achually can I just talk to your boss so I can make sure theres no misunderstandings?”

So I slightly surprised respond with “Oh sorry if I never made it clear but I’m the manager”

I can’t believe this guy has been lying about it.

And his face instantly turned in to a glare and he said “Common kid dont try and pull that I’m fully aware that hes the manager” and he pointed straight to my father’s friend.

At this point I ask the client if that man had been saying hes the manager.

What a way to thank him for getting a job.

He confirmed that he had been under the assumption that he was since the start of the job and he had also been discussing details of the job with him as well.

So as you can expect I go and talk to my fathers friend and ask him if hes been pretending to be in charge.

What an absolute jerk.

And he didn’t even denay it and started trying to claim that he knows how to run a company better anyway.

So, I fired him on the spot infrount of all the other staff and the client. And now I’m getting the 3rd degree from both parents. So did I over react or what?

AITA?

No, what the guy did was dishonest and shows that he is not at all trustworthy.

It’s exhausting when you consistently organize your day around someone who doesn’t extend the same consideration back.

In this story, two college students who showed up on time for an 8 AM practical stood outside waiting for a friend who’d been awake until 5 AM and overslept.

This irresponsible friend eventually arrived, realized she’d forgotten mandatory equipment, and had to go back for it, which only set the day back even further.

Eventually, the friend group couldn’t wait any longer without being late themselves. They left, finished by 10, and canceled the noon brunch when she wasn’t going to be free until 3.

By then, this friend had started pointing fingers at everyone else for abandoning her, completely shirking any accountability for her own flakiness.

AITA for not waiting for my friend

I (21F) recently made plans to go out for brunch with a friend (21F).

We’d been trying to schedule something for weeks, so we finally settled on a date.

She finds that making plans with this friend is never as easy as it should be due to her busy schedule.

For context, making plans with her is often difficult because she rearranged her university schedule so she only has to attend classes two to three days a week and has the rest of us cover for her with attendance, notes, and test sheets.

On the day we planned to go out, the three of us had off-campus practicals at 8 AM.

Then the day took an unexpected turn.

Since there was no organized transportation and public transit can be unreliable, I offered to let them ride with me as my father was going to drive me, and we agreed on a time and place beforehand.

The night before, my friend took a bus to her dorm, stayed awake until at least 5 AM sending memes, and then overslept.

She made our other friend wait around 20 minutes for her.

The friends then run into yet another unexpected delay.

When she finally arrived, she realized she had forgotten her boots, which were mandatory, and had to go back to her dorm to get them.

At that point, we had to leave without her because otherwise we would have been late ourselves.

This set the whole group back significantly.

We even asked the professor if she could join the practical later with another group, which is usually not allowed.

Because we arrived on time, the two of us finished all our practicals around 10 AM.

Since she was late to the first session, she had to join a later group for the remaining practicals and wouldn’t be finished until around 3 PM.

Their plans for the day were slowly going out the window.

Our original plan was to get brunch around noon.

I had extracurricular and volunteer commitments at 4 PM, and the others also had plans later that day.

None of us realistically had time to sit around for five extra hours waiting for her.

So then her friend had the audacity to get upset with her.

When I said I couldn’t wait until 3 PM and canceled the brunch plans, she got upset and acted like I was abandoning her.

AITA for refusing to wait five hours for someone whose own poor planning and oversleeping caused the delay?

This friend needs to take a serious look in the mirror if she thinks this is anyone else’s fault but her own.

If this student was truly sorry, she needs to own up to her shortcomings and vow to do better, not point fingers at everyone else.

College is supposed to teach you responsibility, but this girl still has a lot to learn.

When you are the manager of a group of people, you need to make sure that they follow your direction, but you also don’t want to be too controlling.

What would you do if one of your employees kept talking rudely to your boss even though you told her not to?

That is what is happening to the manager in this story, so he told her to stop, or she would be fired, and now several other employees are upset with him.

I (29M) manage one of 3 teams of 5 people, all working under 1 director.

Learning to be a good manager is difficult.

I am a new hire (also first time managing a team like this ever), and there is a member on my team (34F) who is a bit of a loud mouth.

She doesnt seem to care about speaking her mind, to me or her coworkers, which I’m not particularly okay with, but she does her work and nobody really seems to have that much of a problem with it.

She might be crossing a line.

One thing I do not and can not stand is when she talks rudely to the director (My boss!!).

I understand, sometimes the things he asks of us are not fair, sometimes there is just too much work, hes gotten upset with the group too, but its just not okay.

Well, if the director doesn’t mind, then it should be fine.

The director is pretty laissez-faire with his management approach, so even when he assigns a load of work, if we don’t finish it seems for the most part other than a bit of some passive aggressive remarks he gives us extensions.

I’ve told her plenty of times she doesnt need to speak up when these things happen, its my place to decide if something needs to be said about too much work or something like that, but she always does it anyway.

She doesn’t seem to respect him as a boss.

She must have been having a really bad week, because we had another conference and bossman was being a bit passive aggressive, so she decided to do it back to him.

It was a really uncomfortable call and to make a long story short, she basically summed up that he was a lazy and inconsiderate jerk (not exact words but pretty much that).

You have to treat management with respect if you want to keep your job.

I honestly get it, I do, he is a bit of a jerk but at the end of the day he is the boss, and he is MY boss.

Her actions directly reflect on me, her manager. I told her she needs to stop and she said that she was doing my job by telling him when enough is enough.

It’s not like he isn’t doing anything.

I should make those decisions, and I have, there have been plenty of times where I put my foot down and said its just too much.

I told her she needs to either shut up and just talk to me about it, or she needs to rethink her future with the company.

This is a hard situation for any manager.

She’s talked about it w her coworkers, I can tell they are a bit upset with me because they feel like I’m siding with him rather than them.

I just need them to understand that I can’t have them talking to OUR boss like that, its just not right.

I need this job too, just like them.

It sounds like she is overstepping her bounds. She has been told multiple times to stop acting like this, and she refuses, so at some point, she will need to be fired.
