Friendzy Friday with Jayne!

Hi there, Jayne here and for my first Friendzy Friday I wanted to talk about the 'Shake It' products you can find at the Two Scrapbook Friends store. **

This really is an awesome line that takes all the hard work out of creating 'shaker' projects, in a variety of shapes. There are two parts to the system, a plastic cover, and a paper overlay........

First, you will need to decide what you would like to appear behind the shaker window. This could be a stamped image, patterned paper or even a photograph....the choice is yours. I coloured a stamped image using my Copic markers.

You then need to carefully place whatever you want to use as your shaking elements, in a small pile in the center of your background. Again here the choice is yours, but I decided upon a combination of micro beads and sequins.

The next step can be a little tricky as we need to adhere the plastic cover to the background, and micro beads or glitter often develop a love affair with static! First, remove the clear film on the back of the shaker window.........

...then move fairly quickly to stick it down. I've found that the more you hover, the more the beads will move around, so decide where it's going and put it there!

Next we need to adhere the overlay. I tend to use a double sided sticky tape such as Scor-Tape as it creates a good firm bond. If you'd like to 'pretty' the overlay in any way ie. inking, distressing etc., do this before you stick.

I chose to emboss..........

You can then go ahead and put your shaker onto your chosen project. Again here the options are endless....... a card, gift tag, scrapbook page.....almost anything.

Mine found it's way onto a gift box I'd made, to hold a handmade set of cards.

I do hope you'll give these a try as they really are fun, so much so that my kiddies enjoyed making a few over the Christmas holidays.

Fancy Pants Winterland With Shelby!

Fancy Pants has released a gorgeous winter collection that you just have to have......well, we just had to have it anyway! Shelby has been doing some creating with this chilly collection that includes lots of double-sided papers and 2 sticker sheets. We have paired it up with lots of other embellishments we have in the store and the end result is awesome!

Shelby has created this amazing double-page that incorporates this adorable mitten paper with stitched strings.

She used a canvas tag for her title spot and strips for her journaling. She mixed in some small alpha stickers from Lilybee Designs to add interest. We love those little letters.

Stickers and wooden snowflakes mixed with beautiful patterns = great results!

By cutting out the mittens and layering them on top of the pattern paper it creates some dimension. She also added the stitching using brown floss.

You are my snow angel.......what a beautiful title for this layout.

The added stitching on the circle is a great addition to her page.

The wooden hat is from Pink Paislee's winter collection. It is fun to mix and match papers and embellishments from different collections.

This large wooden snowflake is also from Pink Paislee. It makes a beautiful addition to this card. The bakers twine is the perfect match to her design.

Shelby created a beautiful mini album called 'Snow-day survival guide. You will notice those small letter stickers on the tabs and the banner.

The addition of glitter looks like fresh fallen snow. Absolutely beautiful.

CHA Sneak Peeks With Glitz, Tim Holtz & Graphic 45

Glitz Design has released three new lines for 2012 Winter CHA. My favourite is a little something they like to call French Kiss. The French influence is evident in the cardstock sticker sheets and the vintage stripes. This company has even been so bold as to make a burlap patterned paper! Their mini letter stickers are so versatile.

Their second line is a non traditional travel line called Happy Travels with bold splashes of red and blue with a strong vintage feel.

Finally for those of you who love Pink! The Pretty in Pink line is sure to fill you with happiness!

Tim Holtz's CHA release is full of wonderful rustic dies. This gorgeous bird and twig die would be gorgeous in Grungeboard and it brings spring to mind!

He also has these new embossing folders. Very cool retro patterns:

My final find for this post is a magnificent tropical Travel Line called Tropical Travelogue by Graphic 45. Someone told me recently that this travel line is reminiscent of the artist Paul Gauguin. What do you think? The gorgeous colours and vintage images inspire.

Look at these botanical prints! They are hugely trendy right now and no one does them like Graphic 45!

Less Than A Week Until CHA Winter 2012!

In less than a week, Carolyn will board a plane and head for Anaheim, California to attend CHA Winter 2012! She will spend 4 days checking out and purchasing collections and products for the store. She will try new tools, see new products in action, attend workshops and seminars to help educate so that she can bring the best products and information back to our friends.

My Mind's Eye is an leader in the world of Scrapbooking. It is hard not to find a line of paper and embellishments that you love.

One of my particular favourites is the Miss Caroline collection. In fact, Miss Caroline has FOUR separate lines of embellishments and colour palettes. A favourite of mine is Miss Caroline - Howdy Doody. It is a feminine selection of patterns and colours. There are soft pinks melded with peach, turquoise and grey. The stamps and embellies could be used for those darling little girl pages, weddings or those special moments.

There is even some of the very trendy wood grain!

I also love the Miss Caroline Fiddlesticks..with the lavenders and aquas. There is wood grain and flowers and the usual wonderfully inspiring embellishments! Here are just a tiny sampling of the patterns and pieces that I love.

A little birdie told me that there will be lots of My Mind's Eye at the store in early spring!

Winterland - Fancy Pants

We know that it hasn't been much of a winter, so far......(we are not complaining though), but we are still in the mood to scrapbook winter photos. Most of us are not caught up so we have many past seasons to choose photos from.

Echo Park - A Boy's Life!

We have the latest collection from Echo Park on the shelves and have been having fun creating with it. We used it in our demo day last Friday (click here). A Boy's Life is not just for boys......the prints on the reverse are awesome and work for all sorts of different projects.

A Boy's Life is bright and colourful. Echo Park did a wonderful video about the collection and also a tutorial on a fabulous layout with paper airplanes.

Friendzy Friday with Sharlene!

Valentine's Day is coming near... so I thought I'd show you how to make a Valentine's Day container.

Create a unique container perfect for giving away candy or other small treats.

Supplies: Valentine's Day patterned paper by We R Memory Keepers, Terrifically Tacky Tape or Scor-Tape, a paper crimper, ribbon, Sew Easy Twine, a hole punch, and some chocolate kisses.

Step-by-Step

Step 1:
Put tacky tape (such as Scor-Tape) on 3 sides - 1 short and 2 long - of the reverse side of a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of patterned paper. Peel off the tape covering.

Step 2 :
Adhere the short ends of the paper together to form a cylinder.

Step 3:
Pinch one of the ends together (I usually have the seam in the middle).

Step 4:
To reinforce the adhesive, slide the taped end into your paper crimper and slowly add two or three crimped lines.

Step 5:
Fill container with some kisses (candy or other small treat).

Step 6:
Once you've filled it with treats, pinch it closed by pinching the second end in the opposite direction of the first seam.

When looking at the container from the top, the two ends will form a +.

Step 7:
Crimp this end of the container.

Step 8:
Decorate the container.

Now that you've seen this tutorial, I hope you try this technique! Then upload your artwork to the Gallery. We would love to see your creations!

Demo Day!

Whipper Snapper Stamps With Jayne & Joanne

We have a new line of stamps in our store from Whipper Snapper Designs. This is our second shipment, as our first one sold out so fast. Their designs appeal to both the "new" and "seasoned" stamper/scrapbooker!

Here are just a few of designs on our shelves. If you want to see all the stamps that we are carrying you can visit our online store, or better yet, pop into the store.

Jayne has done a few samples for us. She is a very talented card maker and her colouring is out of this world!

She even created this sweet picket fence gate to attach to the front of her card. She embellished it with a few blooms from the Maya Road trim that is available in our store.

You can see how the stamped image just comes to life. The shading adds real depth to the design.

Chillax! is her second design. How can you resist this adorable little penguin?

She embellished her bow with a snowflake button and some bakers twine.

Joanne is also a very talented card maker and here is one of he most recent cards using the Get Well Chicken stamp. She paper pieced the blanket and added some shading using her Copics.

Check out this little guy with his little blanket and teddy!

Joanne is teaching a Copic card workshop tonight using these stamps and we also have plans for a Valentine's class too.

Sew Ribbon - Demo Highlight

Bo Bunny - Snowfall Collection With Sharlene

We are sure that you are going to enjoy this post as much as we enjoy displaying these project in our store. Sharlene has done some creating with the new Bo Bunny Snowfall collection. They are going to knock your socks off!

See what we mean? We love the quilted background using all the pretty, glittery papers.

Sharlene used a Martha Stewart border punch to create the snowflake border around her background and added some brown gingham ribbon to match.

Not only is this layout amazing, the photo is breathtaking.

The glitter lends itself well to this large snowflake and balances itself well with the 'Snowfall' word that comes already printed on this paper.

It really takes the work out of making a spectacular page.

Sharlene incorporates the snowflake theme along the top and bottom of this layout.

All the little details, like this 'wintertime' word add so much to her pages.

Not only are Sharlene's layouts stunning, she has created a couple of other items too. Look at this beautiful card. We love how she layered all the papers together to create this gorgeous tree.

She also created this holiday banner that is hanging on our bookshelves in our store. At least a few times a week a customer will ask if there is a kit or a class to make it.

Snowfall is such a beautiful combination of blues, browns and glitter. It has been selling like crazy and most of the collection is not able to be re-ordered due the fact that it has been discontinued.

Friendzy Friday with Sharon!

I thought I would continue the felt theme I started just before Christmas. I really have been on a bit of a felt kick lately!

This time I'd love to show you another type of fun dimensional felt flower. All you need is some felt, a needle, coordinating thread and a flower die. I used this great sparkly black felt.

Cut five flower shapes plus one slightly smaller circle.

Fold a flower in half and then in half again to form a triangular/funnel shape. Stitch the pointed edge to hold the shape together.

Repeat this until you have 4 funnel shapes. Arrange them onto the circle base with the points meeting in the middle and stitch them down so they are secure. I know this is a bit hard to see since my felt is black.

Make a funnel shape with your fifth flower and insert it into the middle so that it sits upright. Tack it down with stitches so that it is secure. And here is your finished flower.

Here you can see it on a layout along with another larger white one.

I hope you give this a try, experimenting with different sizes and colours. I certainly can't wait to make some more!

Demo Day at Two Scrapbook Friends

Today we are hosting another great demo day at Two Scrapbook Friends! There are so many great products on our shelves, we just have to share them with you. Demo days are a great way to see the products in action.......you can even try them yourself.

Join us today and see how the new Sew Ribbon from We R Memory Keepers works. There are 6 different templates that punch out patterns to thread your ribbon through. We are also carrying the 10 different colours of ribbon that are available too. On each card, you receive 6 yards of ribbon......2 yards each of velvet, twill and grosgrain.
