there is something beautiful around this time of year where we live.

thunderstorms. i.love.it.

except that we live in tornado alley, and that would make one ponder

why any human would stay in such a place.

still haven't figured that one out, I'll get back to you on that.

but the clouds can be amazing.....

I tried on these kicks with the 14 year old, who said they were ugly...like old lady-ish.

I wore them out only to find her asking if she could borrow them, swearing she never said such a thing.

roasted veggies

this is beyond easy....don't hate.

it has become my go-to way to fix veggies,

besides the bags you can nuke.

pure genius.

grab a handful, or 8, of fresh veggies.

seriously, any will do.

And wash those suckers. (my local market also sells bags of fresh,

that make it super easy).

Squash, carrots, brussel sprouts...whatevs.

For the larger ones, cut down to bite size or so,

you want them to cook all the way through.

Spread them out on a cookie sheet, with tiny little walls on the sheet.

Drizzle EVO in a fun squiggle pattern across the top,

then sprinkle sea salt on top of that.

Pop them in your oven, set at 415, for about 15 or so minutes.

with smaller veggies, like green beans and asparagus, I might stir them

around once or twice,

but we like them crispy.

Or some would say burned.

Seriously y'all....

easy weeknight favorites roundup

you know we all have them,

our go-to grub that we know we can whip out in

a flash (somehow I manage to extend it by 30 minutes...minimum),

and the little humans dig.

I did a round up of some from other blogger,

cause you know that you always need new ideas. Unless you have more than one go-to recipe, eh hem.

Mine started out as tacos, shocking I know, but it has evolved over the years

into some sort of open burrito, with or with out the tortilla, and whatever else might be in the pantry,

a dash of coconut and salsa.

uh, yeah.

Brown the meat and add your taco seasoning.

We use flour and corn torts or rice and fritos if I get a wild hair,

sour cream

mexican cheese

tomatoes

avocados

and coconut

yes, I know the last is weird, but trust me....it makes it sweet and oh so good.

you know those days?

you know....the ones where you haven't stopped because you realize how many deadlines are this weekend?

you know...when you middle one has forgotten his homework every single night this week?

you know...when your oldest doesn't feel good, you give in and take her to

the little clinic down the road, while the other little humans are at gymnastics, and they tell you in the craziest appointment ever, that she has walking pneumonia, and you

are in such a daze that you don't realize till after you leave

that they never did an x-ray? Meanwhile, she is practicing her leaps through the parking lot?

you know...the dog eats all of the powdered baby doll food in the bedroom of the littlest.

you know...when you can't remember if you fed the kids or just decided they weren't hungry?

you know...you remember you have a massive Stella Show in less than 12 hours?

you know...you break down, mainly out of exhaustion, with the receptionist

at your kids orthodontist appointment about the aftermath?

you know...when the calendar says you should be super close to summer, but Mother Nature is laughing in your face?

yeah...you know Thursdays...

Totally when I am trying to remember if they had supper....

Haven't posted in this series in quite a while,

so excited to bring it back.

I'm going through a heavy white phase right now....God willing, it will stick for a bit.

The simplistic cleanness, obsessed.

And I think we all now how much the swedish/scandinavian's love white,

maybe that's why I am drawn to it??

Here is another that caught my eye.

Swedish interior design usually is very comfortable and practical. This open floor apartment is great example of that. It’s located in small but very beautiful city Linnéstaden. The building where it’s located is quite old but the apartment is renovated so the contemporary interior design in addition to 3.40 meter ceilings make these 58 square meters of the living space very comfortable for those who own it. Four windows facing west brings a lot of natural light into the apartment so it look much bigger than it is. The open floor plan is perfect for socializing and social interaction for owners and their friends. It's in the late night hours that your mind begins to swirl......

There are post that you can put out in no time at all

and others mull around in the emptiness that is your head for the past week...

After I read this post from sweet Mary Beth at Annapolis & Company,

I knew I wasn't the only one who's emotions were stirring.

It's been a long week of heartache for all.

The Gosnell trial, which I just can't stand to keep up with anymore,

The Boston Marathon,

The explosion in West, Texas...not too far away from where we are,

and the kicker was a loss in our own family.

It's almost been a numbing feeling all week.....just floating through, to make it till the end.

We have talked many, many times, mainly in our car drives, about what is going on around us.

14, 10 and 6. and it's amazing how much they get of everything that has happened.

We talked about Boston, and how incredibly sad it was, how someone could really do that....intentionally hurt people.

The explosion with more lives lost, why would that happen, how could it?

The loss of my husbands first cousin, in a tragic accident....why why why. so young.

so incredibly hard.

the fourteen year old had said, one night when we were in conversation about these things,

'it's kind of weird, you know? it's like a dream that this all has happened, it doesn't seem real. like when you hear of someone else dying in someone else's family, you are really sad and hurt for them. But when it happens to you, it doesn't seem real...it's like your numb....'

We have been bouncing around through all of these subjects on everything that is going on, and trying to make sense of it, now that they do get it.

there is evil in the world, bad things do happen...to good people.

I guess it finally caught up with me this afternoon, and I lost it.

I sliped on one of the very few shirts I had thought I had recovered from the fire, to head to the visitation with the husbands family,

only to discover it had a massive hole burned through the arm.

and I was incredibly mad, with tears welling up.

repeatedly through my head was that my kids should not be having to deal with all of this right now,

I shouldn't have to explain all of these things over and over,

they are still to young to know that things to this level can happen,

why don't I ever remember things like this from when I was younger.

no kids anywhere should be having to see and deal with what all is going on around us all.

crying I find something else to put on and pick up the little humans.

we talk about God this afternoon and how we just need to pray for everyone, thats the best thing we can give everyone right now.

It wasn't until bedtime that a lightbulb came on, from the wisdom of a 6 year old.

she said 'why are people so sad when you die? I would be happy and want everyone else happy, cause I get to be with everyone we can't see anymore and Jesus and God in Heaven. It's suppose to be the best place on earth. I bet they have ice cream all the time.'

Here I was crying out of frustration about a shirt and the loss of life (and again while I type),

and the kindergartener talks about it with a clear understanding.

It is so hard to grasp the loss of life and rejoice about it, after all the bad and the why's that we have...

'No matter our circumstances, no matter our challenges or trials, there's something in each day to embrace and cherish. There's something in each day that can bring gratitude and joy....if only we see it and appreciate it.'

the stomach monster hit early sunday morn...

lots of sleep happened afterwards for her on Sunday and Monday.

One who is usually wired, more so when she is sleepy,

finally crashed.

and crashed again.

Funny thing, even though she is sick, and I hate them being this way,

it just reiterated how much I miss her being here.

beds left unmade...

windows kept closed...

and snuggles...

sweet neighbors brought us barbies,

that her brother thought needed to go face down...

Had a bit of energy tonight for batgirl,

I spy,

A some light reading.

Heartbreaking day, as the exhaustion hits from this weekend and

news of the Boston Marathon surfaces.

Sadness for the victims and their families,

and questions of why, why, why...

attempts to explain it after school as soon as they see it come through

on social media.

devastating, nauseating, and confusing.

makes you realize how valuable and short life really is.

we continue to pray....

saw this come across last night and thought it summed it up:

Sandy Hook was not a gun control problem.

Korea is not a political problem.

Today at the Boston Marathon is not an intelligence problem.

All of these are symptomatic of a HEART PROBLEM that runs deep in our world today. It is amazing to me that there are still people who refuse to acknowledge that there is evil in the world. BUT, take heart, Jesus promised us that He has overcome the world.

As you pray for the people in Boston, the people in Newtown, and our soldiers around the world, let me also encourage you to pray for a change of heart for yourself, for your neighbors, for your customers/co-workers, for our leaders, and for anyone who intends to cause harm to others.

We closed on our house this last week,

and since 99.98349% of our stuff came from ikea...my projects are insane.

If there's anything you should know about me it's this.

I like EASY projects.

Think-- 10 minutes top, minus drying time I suppose.

Some might call that lazy, I call it productive.

So our school is big about box top labels (is there a school that isn't big on them?) Since one of my daughters goes to a uniform school, they have competitions for box tops and whichever class has the most gets a non uniform day (or pizza party, hot choc party, etc)

Naturally we save them up for a long time and when the competitions come around, we dominate.

No big deal. Even if that means only turning them in once or twice a year, we turn in TONS.

To be fair, the other daughter gets to turn in box tops too, but she doesn't get as excited, I can slide by with just turning in a baggie full. ;)

I'm getting off track, Allison will tell you that happens a lot.

So I bought this glass jar to keep the box tops contained so we could try and stay away from plastic bag after plastic bag of them. But I wanted to spiff it up a bit.

bought: 1 glass jar from Hobby Lobby, with a 40% off coupon, a can of spray paint on sale 30% off and stickers 50% off.

Did I mention I'm also cheap?

I put the foam stickers on the jar, this is kind of self explanatory but what kind of tutorial giver would I be if I just said "do the obvious, you're done, you're welcome"

I have no outfit for this week, boo....

sitting there staring at me.

camera cord. anywhere.

As is life this week, especially today.

Begin to unload goods at the house,

meeting peeps who are installing various items.

garage door won't open.

Put together a desk for the mac,

only to find out after I finish that it is backwards....and upside down.

Is that possible you ask?

yes, yes it is.

De-assemble like a mad woman so I can grab the little humans and no time reassemble, leave it as is.

Garage Door won't open.

grab kids, go to target.

why can I never remember to go to Target BEFORE I get them is a mystery to me.

back to the house.

kids slither through fine white powder outside.

could of been flour, could of been crack, I dunno.

what I do know, is he decided to walk through the house.

awesome.

husband calls.

he is locked out of his parents house, where we are staying.

who locked him out?

we haven't been home.

blame it on the little humans.

we don't have a key......

go to dinner and text MIL to see if they have a key.

they do, fabulousness.

husband goes out to truck, keypad won't work, keys are inside.

how much greatness can one day hold? wait, it gets better.

while texting the MIL again, he comes in and said he got it.

see, it got better....for a brief moment.

head to husbands shop to pick up more items,

while the little humans slither in motor oil.

the six year old comes running out, screaming and crying, along with the 11 year old yelling.

toilet overflowed, and it scared her, horribly. poor first world child, she had never seen this.

clean up the mess,

go back to house to unload items.

GARAGE DOOR WON'T OPEN

head back to in-laws.

remembered gymnastics and dance from three hours prior.

Style Files

This weeks wear is going to be a tad different....

mainly because I have been running in chucks and t's around town

attempting to get some-what ready to move in.

One of the biggest questions I get, when it comes to what I wear,
is how I find what I find.

Especially F21.

Most I talk to either never go in there, can't stand the music, hate searching,

think it is just for their daughters...pshhh.... and on and on.

Can't even begin to say how much I love it.

Obviously I am not 18 or 21 for that matter.

orrrrr 25, bleh.

But I am definitely not ready to hit up that row of stores,
