Evie's Birthday Party

We celebrated Evie's third birthday this past Saturday with a party at McDonalds. It was a blast and all of Evie's friends from church were able to come. We have been taking her to this particular McDonalds for the past couple of weeks to do "trial runs" on the big slide. There is always one step that is too tall for Evie to navigate on her own so she usually needs an older kid to help her up. It's usually not a problem to find a willing older kiddo to help her up. So, when we got there Saturday for her party, she was ready to have some fun. And fun they did have!

Three years old and Eight months old

We'll start with the Birthday Girl. Miss Evie turned three years old today. Yikes! It just doesn't seem possible.

Evie is growing up so quickly. I have been joking that we are going straight from "terrible twos" to "sassy little lady". Evie keeps us on our toes daily. She keeps us laughing and wanting to pull our hair out all at the same time. I can't imagine how we ended up with such a vibrant little girl with so much personality, but I can't imagine life without her.

Evie loves her little sister, she loves playing dress up, she loves to dance, play with her friends and eat. Our girls are eaters! Evie talks almost non-stop from the time she wakes up until the time she finally goes to sleep at night. I love having conversations with her and hearing what's going on inside of her imaginative little head. We love you Sweet Evie Girl!

Miss Mavery had a rather busy month herself. All in month seven, Mavery began sitting up really well, crawling really well, pulling up to a standing position and she cut two bottom teeth. I don't know who is more exhausted, me or her!

Mavery is a stinker. I think she is going to be our mischievous little lady. I can see her pulling pranks on fellow family members in the future and getting away with it by flashing her angelic little smile. Mavery is fully mobile. She follows me everywhere, especially into the bathroom when I go to run her bath at night. She loves bath time.

Mavery is not a fan of baby food. She has almost entirely skipped baby food. She wants what we are eating and she makes it VERY clear at the dinner table. So, we resort to cutting cheese, bread, fruit, etc., into tiny little bites that she can manage to eat with her two little teeth. What a mess! I'm wondering if she will walk before her first birthday. Oh help!

We are having fun with our two little girls. Most days life is crazy and drama-filled. We have lots of laughter and lots of crying at our house. With two girls who will one day be teenagers, I don't think that will change much. Let the good times roll!

I live with three wonderful women. As husband and dad... they shower me with love and affection - it's great. It's also very, very girly around here... and when I say very, very girly... I mean very, very, very girly.

Christmas 2011

Well, it has taken a while to get a Christmas post up, but better late than never, right? We want to remember Christmas 2011 because it was Miss Mavery's first Christmas! Unfortunately, little Miss was sick with a cold the whole time and I have no pictures of her.
Here are pictures of the rest of the family:

Evie and Mavery got a swing set for the back yard. Evie calls it her "park".

Evie had told Santa that she wanted a "beautiful dress" for Christmas.
Somehow the word got out and she received lots of fun dress-up clothes.
They are all a big hit, but this one is the favorite.

We took Evie for her first REAL haircut on Christmas Eve.

On Christmas Day Mike, Melissa and Evie went to church service.
Mavery stayed home with Grandma Susie and Pops.

The kids looked so cute!

Mawmaw made some play dough and so we all had to try it out.
Fun times.

Opening presents was much fun this year.
Evie was ready to assist anyone who needed help opening their gifts.

Seven Months Old

Miss Mavery is seven months old. December flew by in a hurry with Christmas and all. Mavery is sitting up pretty well these days. She's making fun new sounds and she likes the swing set outside. She weighs about 17.5 pounds. It's been a wild ride these past seven months, but we're having fun.
Some day I'll put up Christmas pictures. Today is not that day. 😄

Christmas Craft Fun

We've been having fun doing some holiday crafts. Starting at the top...

We made cinnamon scented play dough. The Cheerios on the spaghetti is an idea I got off of Pinterest. (I'm currently addicted to pinterest!)

Then, we made a Fridge Tree out of wrapping paper so she could decorate a tree using magnets. A big hit!

Last, we made salt dough ornaments. This went alot better than last year. Mainly because she didn't eat the dough!

I call this picture "independence". Yes, Evie is at that lovely stage where she wants to do everything herself. Even if it means putting one bow in the middle of her forehead and the other above her piggy tail. And even if it's something she doesn't know how to do or some 10 second task that takes her 10 minutes, such as buckle her carseat. I try to remind myself that she is learning and to be patient. We're getting there...slowly but surely. And we're having a great time!

Santa 2011

We went to see Santa Saturday morning. I looked to see what time it started and we were there on the dot! Only one family was ahead of us so there was no wait. Evie didn't get scared and Mavery didn't spit up on Santa. Over all, a peaceful experience. Ho Ho Ho!

I gave Mavery her first rice cereal the other day. She was starting to give us the look at the dinner table like "where is my bite??" Needless to say, the girl likes to eat and she took to the spoon real well. I had forgotten how wonderfully messy it is to spoon feed a baby. It's even more messy the second go around because I have a cute little helper.

Trick or Treat

Happy Halloween! We went Trick or Treating monday night. We joined up with Abigail and her folks. She was a Lobter!

Evie was good and held Daddy's hand the whole time. And saying "trick or treat" at the door and "we go to the next one" after each house. She caught on quickly.

Mavery snuggled down and slept in the baby carrier.

We had a great time and mom and dad are enjoying all of Evie's hard work.

Mini Road trip

This weekend we took a spontaneous road trip to Mineral Wells Texas. We watch a quirky show on PBS titled The Daytripper, and the host takes short day trips that feature small towns in Texas. A while back the show featured Mineral Wells, which is only about an hour from us and we decided that when the weather cooled off we wanted to venture out that way for a day. We were somewhat apprehensive since Miss Mavery does not travel well in the car. But since the holiday season is approaching and we will be doing some traveling, we decided to do a trial run. This is the first time Mavery and Melissa have been out of the city limits since she was born in June. Yikes! Yes, car rides with Mavery are that bad. But we are getting there.

Our first stop on our adventure was the Clark Botanical Gardens. We pretty much had the place all to ourselves and it was gorgeous. The morning air was a bit cool, but we sure enjoyed looking at all the plants and the miniature train set.

After our journey through the botanical gardens we enjoyed some good ole' Dairy Queen.
Mike is pouting because Evie won't share her Dilly Bar.

On our way home we stopped and bought some Crazy Water, which is the mineral water that Mineral Wells is "famous" for.
It was a great road trip and good to be out with the girls on a beautiful fall day.

We visited a local pumpkin patch a couple of weeks ago. Evie refers to it as the "Punkin Match" and it's too cute. We got to climb on big tractors...

Four Months Old

Hey Guys! I'm four months old! Look at me hold my head up high. I can even roll from my tummy to my back!

I have also found something. Can you guess what??

Yep, It's my thumb. I love it! I get all snuggled down in my swing, suck my thumb and hold Mr. Froggie. I can be quite content here for a while...sometimes...

I call this "Multi-tasking"

Mommy and Evie moved my crib mattress down a bit and put some fun toys in there to keep me entertained. Big sister was kind enough to join me and show me the ropes...
