GAGA’s Golf Skills Challenge will begin at 4pm after a short briefing on the individual challenges your team of 4 will face. Each challenge will draw on different golfing skills, which you don’t necessarily have to be a golfer to master.

There are a range of prizes up for grabs including the ‘Allchurch Bailey Cup’ for the overall winning team. There will be a longest drive competition within the team challenge and an individual challenge for all those willing to enter.

Twyford Golf Club & GAGA look forward to welcoming you together with your supporters on Friday the 10^thJune. There will be a bar and BBQ open to all.

Schwartzel Career High

Charl Schwartzel is up from 29th to a career-high 11th in the world after his Masters.

German Martin Kaymer stays number one despite missing the halfway cut, while fourth-placed Luke Donald moves back above Phil Mickelson into third and Tiger Woods, also 10 under after a closing 67, jumps aheads of Graeme McDowell and Paul Casey again into fifth.

Rory McIlroy admits he is going to find it hard to forget his Masters meltdown for a while after seeing his hopes of a first major victory evaporate in spectacular fashion on Sunday evening.

Eventual winner Charl Schwartzel shot a simply brilliant 66 at Augusta National, a dramatic start and then four closing birdies giving the 26-year-old South African his first major title by two from Australians Adam Scott and Jason Day after it looked for a while as though Tiger Woods was going to triumph from seven back.

McIlroy's wait for a green jacket goes on after he crashed from four in front overnight to 10 shots behind and joint 15th place with a nightmare 80, and he said: "I was still one shot ahead going into the 10th and then things went all pear-shaped after that."

He triple-bogeyed the 10th, three-putted the 11th, four-putted the 12th and bogeyed the long 15th to become the third 54-hole leader in the last four majors - Dustin Johnson and Nick Watney were the others - to fail to break 80.

But while Johnson and Watney actually scored worse, McIlroy's advantage when he teed off was the biggest and the last time anyone lost a bigger last day lead in a major was Jean Van de Velde at Carnoustie in 1999.

And by suffering such a reversal in fortunes the world number nine had even done worse than Greg Norman at Augusta in 1996. With a 78 Norman went from six clear to five behind Nick Faldo.

"It was a very disappointing day obviously." said McIlroy, "But hopefully I'll learn from it and come back a little stronger. I don't think I can put it down to anything else than part of the learning curve.

"Hopefully if I can get myself back into this position pretty soon I will handle it a little bit better.

"It will be pretty tough for me for the next few days, but I will get over it - I will be fine.

"There are a lot worse things that can happen in your life. Shooting a bad score in the last round of a golf tournament is nothing in comparison to what other people go through."

Tiger Woods got everyone's attention Friday at the Masters, where he splashed the back nine with an array of birdies - five in all and three in a row - to climb into contention after a stirring 6-under 66.

Woods is tied for third with K.J. Choi at 7-under 137, just three shots behind 36-hole leader Rory McIlroy and one shot behind Jason Day.

And he finished with a splash, rolling in a 12-foot birdie putt from the right side of the hole at the 18th.

"It was nice to get it going," Woods said. "I'm three back so I played myself back into the championship. We've got 36 holes left, so there's a long way to go."

If Woods' round was eventful, Phil Mickelson's turned out to be routine. The defending champion shot an even-par 72 and is 2-under, tied for 20th. He did not have a birdie after the 10th hole and finished with seven straight pars.

"I left too many shots out there," Mickelson said. "But that's all in the past and we've got the weekend to look forward to. Fortunately I'm not in that bad a spot where if I can go out and shoot a good round, I can get right back in it.

"These next two days are my favorite two days of the year, the weekend of the Masters . . . I'm going to have to make a good run tomorrow."

Woods ran off birdies in bunches - the 8th, 9th and 10th, and also the 13th, 14th and 15th. He hit a 3-wood and 3-iron to 10 feet at the 13th, a 3-wood and a full wedge to 18 inches at the 14th, and then a driver and a 5-iron to the 15th that led to a two-putt birdie from 35 feet.

Woods established himself as a contender for a fifth Masters title with a nine-birdie day, offsetting his three bogeys that included a three-putt at the 7th. But Woods was able to answer each of his bogeys with a birdie. He credited his patience.

"That was the key," he said.

Woods' 66 matches his best round of the year. He also had a 66 at Doral. It also equals his lowest second-round score in 16 other Masters appearances

Masters Golf Update

It was like St Andrews all over again in The Masters on Thursday as 21-year-old Rory McIlroy displayed his talents for all the world to see.

Nine months on from starting the Open Championship with a major record-equalling 63 the young Northern Irishman began the 75th Masters with a seven under par 65.

It put McIlroy - third in the last two majors of last season - into a three-stroke lead over American Matt Kuchar just as favourite Phil Mickelson began his defence of the title with a scrambling par and Tiger Woods bogeyed the 10th and 11th to drop back to one over.

McIlroy followed his 63 with a windswept 80 in Scotland last summer, but the weather looks good for the week in Georgia and he hopes now to take over from Seve Ballesteros as the second youngest winner of the title - after Woods, of course.

His first shot of the day actually found sand, but after saving par with a deft chip to two feet he birdied the next three holes from three, five and 18 feet and picked up another shot at the ninth to turn in 32.

The 505-yard par four 11th is probably the hardest hole on Augusta National, but the Holywood golfer birdied that as well - as did England's Ross Fisher in a 69 - and after three-putting the long 13th for par holed from 10 feet at the next and two-putted the 530-yard 15th.

Retief Goosen, who in contrast began his round by becoming only the fifth player in the tournament's history to make an eagle two on the 445-yard first, was only one off another record with his front nine 31.

But the twice runner-up mixed two further birdies with four bogeys in the next eight holes.

Fisher, whose wife Jo is expecting their second child early next week, shared third place in the clubhouse with American Brandt Snedeker on the same three under mark.

Woods had one birdie - at the short sixth - and eight pars going out, but was still producing the odd bad swing and his back-to-back bogeys on two of the most demanding holes came as no great surprise.

The Memories Matter to Luke Donald

Luke Donald hopes the memory of his Masters debut six years ago can spur him to victory as he aims for a first major championship at Augusta this week.

Tiger Woods and Chris DiMarco were out on their own fighting for the title in 2005, but Donald played the last eight holes in a spectacular six under par to take a share of third place with Retief Goosen.

And the World Match Play champion said: "I think you can still feed off it. It goes back to 'if you have done it before you can do it again'."

He added: "That's what makes this place exciting - it's there. Even if you're a few shots back you still feel you can make a run.

"I did so well that first year because I was just so excited to play and enjoyed it. I will try to do the same this year."

Donald also remembers that his back nine in 2005 began with a double bogey six down the 10th. But he is only too happy to rattle off everything that followed.

He continued: "On 11 I drove right, cut a low three-iron just over the back and chipped in. On 12th I went in the bunker and got up and down from a plugged lie.

"At 13 I was just past the pin in two and made the 20-foot putt for eagle. The next was a par, then on 15 I was just over the edge of the green and chipped in again for eagle.

"I almost made a hole-in-one at 16 and birdied from a couple of feet, 17 was a solid par and on 18 I drove in the trees on the right, chipped out, hit an eight-iron to six feet and made it for par."

It remains his best finish, but every trip has added to the 33-year-old's knowledge, and he explained: "I feel like I know what I need to know to be successful - places where I need to be and not to be - and the good feelings I had at the Match Play are still there I think. I've been working hard and working on the right stuff - I think I am ready to go

Tiger Woods to play Match Play Championship

Former world number one Tiger Woods has confirmed his participation in the Accenture Match Play Championship 2011 scheduled to take place in the last week of February at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Arizona.
Woods made the decision public through his official website. Earlier, he had not reached an agreement with the event officials and it was believed that he might not participate in it.
However, on Tuesday, Woods formally agreed to compete for the fourth time in the event which would be staged for a third straight year in Arizona. Woods has won the Championship in all three of his attempts in 2003, 2004, and 2008.
Woods first victory came at the La Costa Resort & Spa in 2003 when he defeated David Toms by 2 and 1. In the following year, he clinched another victory against Davis Love III by 3 and 2. His last triumph was seen at the Dove Mountain, where he gunned down Stewart Cink by 8 and 7.
In 2009, Woods opted out of the tournament due to a knee injury which he picked during the 2009 US Open. In the next year, Woods once again pulled out of the event due to the personal problems he was facing following his infidelity scandal. Ever since, Woods has not won a single title and lost everything including his world number one rank which he had held for five consecutive years.
However, Woods is seeking to end his 15-month winless streak with the advent of this tournament and appears confident of getting back in form. His recent performance at the 2011 Omega Dubai Desert Classic was decent. He posted a bogeyless 66 in the second round when rest of the field faltered. However, he could not stay vaulted to his position and finished the event tied at the 20^th spot.
The 500-FedEx-point Match Play Championship is the last event in the sequel of World Golf Championships that are considered as the fifth flagship event on the tour.

Golf course closed by city council over unpaid rent debt

THE future of a golf course is in doubt after the firm running it was kicked off the site because of unpaid rent.

Stoke-on-Trent City Council has reclaimed Goldenhill Golf Course from Jack Barker's Golf Company, which has also been accused of fly-tipping on the course.
The company has previously said lorries full of inert waste have been visiting the site since June 2008 to extend the driving range at the Mobberley Road venue, after planning permission was granted by the city council.
However, the city council now says there was no evidence that the waste was being used to improve the course.

The golf course has been closed down, due to the rent arrears and the council says a decision has yet to be taken over its future.
A council spokesman said: "The company has forfeited the lease of the golf course for non-payment of rent and the council has taken back possession of the site.
"The leaseholder was also served with a temporary 'stop' notice preventing anyone from depositing waste material on the land. This has stopped any waste being left on the site since it reverted back to the control of the city council."
Residents living near to the course say they have suffered for years with their homes and cars being covered in mud and dust by lorries transporting waste.
Sandyford and Goldenhill Residents' Association had taken up concerns over the golf course. The group has worked with the Friends of Basildon Golf Course, which won a legal fight to stop Jack Barker using 140,000 tonnes of spoil to reshape the course.
