This has happened more than once and although I should probably have written back a second time, I wonder what happened. Did your project fall through? Did I just get lost among all the other writers you hired, or did you have second thoughts? I could understand all of these things, but I would appreciate being updated so I don’t turn down other work because I think I have work with you. It’s just professional courtesy. There is a real person behind this site after all. Thank you.

I’ve noticed these days there are more and more sites opening up as networks for blogs. The deal usually is that if you are accepted you post on your niche blog and the more page views you make the more money you’ll make. These sites always existed but now are becoming more prevalent.

I have been writing for one network site for a couple of years so they are more established and I do see a very small but growing income every month. I also suspect that the amount I make would be higher if I would write more often. I do tend to slack on this site. The point is to know writing and site trends and get in early when possible. Although there are always writing jobs, they are not always the same type of writing that is your specialty. Keep your eyes peeled for new trends and you may end up with what fits you best.

I was scanning ads this morning and came across one that said “Writer needed, will be payed great”. You probably want to skip ads titled this way. If they can’t spell a simple word like paid, then maybe you should do more checking before you sign any contracts or send any work to them. At the same time, don’t completely dismiss them as stupid. They may be foreign and are not that good with English. Personally I would think they would set up and use a spellchecker, but that’s just me.

I now have become more aware of looking out for sites like this and would like to give all of you a possible heads up when I hear of something. A popular writers forum that I go to was talking this morning about a site called “Get Paid Writing Articles“. None of the writers who wrote for them ever got paid at all. So tread with care for these people and if you do write for them and get paid, please let me know so that I can update this post. Also leave a comment if you know of or hear of any other sites that you believe are scams.

As a writer and blogger, I know that there are some times when you ask yourself how to know when it’s time to give up on a blog.

First I think you need to be honest with yourself about the reason for the blog in the first place. Mine are easy, the first is to make money, and the second is I love to design the look of the site. I like to write only things I am interested in and once that’s gone and I have to force myself to post I know it’s time to let go.

I’ve been blogging for a couple years and make a little money here and there, but I know that I could make more if I put more work into it. I’ve not been posting as regularly as I should be.

There are other blogs that I’ve started and found I didn’t have as much to say on them as I thought I would. Those blogs I killed right away. So in a nutshell, if you’ve run out of things to say on them it might be time to let go. If you don’t see any earnings potential after two or three years you may want to let it go an start another.

We’ve all heard of and maybe have been through writers block. I’ve got a bad case. I lost both my mother and father early this month, two days apart. Since they became so ill and up to now, my heart has just not been into writing even the simplest thing.

I’ve only been able to write about their illnesses and deaths because that has acted as an outlet for my overwhelming grief. Anything else I try to write just seems empty and hollow.

It’s a difficult thing to face the fact that even upon the event of our deaths that life will go on. As silly as it sounds it bothers me that traffic lights still turn green and red, that snow still falls and people still shop and laugh and live, while my parents cannot.

The fact is that I must except it and continue doing what I need to do for myself and the rest of my family. My hope is that on writing the empty words the feeling will eventually catch up with them.

I have about ten blogs and as much as I can, I try to write quality articles from the latest news and research being done. I do research so that the articles are timely, accurate, and contain important information they give.

I discovered by visiting other blogs that the more popular ones tend to be the more personal ones. There are many that are just about the persons day to day life that are more popular than mine. I was discussing this with another blogger and she agreed the same thing was happening with her. Why would people not favor informational articles over personal ones?

Then it came to me. The problem is that the net is just getting so oversaturated with the same information in different words that it’s become boring, and predictable. With a personal blog you never know what will happen, or what they’ll say. This has caused me to make some of my articles more editorialized and less detailed. We’ll see what happens with that. If you don’t have ground breaking information, don’t spend a lot of time on it, chances are most of your readers will have read it already elsewhere.

I find my writing jobs in a variety of places. I have found some great jobs via Craigslist. Many writers are down on Craigslist because some of the ads are scams, and I have been caught like that, myself.

However, when you do connect with a client who does want you to write for them you may think the job’s in the bag. That’s not always the case, because we are doing business through the Net, there is more communication needed after they e-mail you that they are interested. Here’s where you’ve got to be careful. After their initial e-mail, often they require more information from you. You have got to make sure that you send the information in a timely manner, and moreover, you’ve got to make sure that they have recieved it. I have lost a few clients because they then wanted phone contact and were not able to get in touch with me right away. There have also been times when I was told by the client to e-mail further information to a different office and found that the addy they gave me never transferred the information to the person that hired me.

You have to understand that they get hundreds of applications sometimes and that they will only wait so long and try so hard to reach you. If it’s a problem for them, they will pass you up and just go to the next person on the list.

When you get a gig or job, respond as soon as possible

If you are asked for more information, get it to them immediately and per their instructions

If you do not hear back from them within a day or two, contact them again and inquire about the delay, explain that you haven’t heard back and you want to verify they recieved the information they originally asked for.

Following up shows the client you are not only on top of things, but that you are still anxious to begin and complete the work hired for.

For many writers any job is a good job as long as it pays. Writers who have more established careers don’t need the low paying B.S. article jobs.

What’s the difference you might ask? Easy. Real articles are written for real people to read. B.S. articles are written for search engines and key word content. These B.S. articles are very low paying, they are torturous to write, and they are usually done in large groups with very little difference in content between them.

Even though there is still a call for these B.S. articles, and even though low pay is better than no pay, I will no longer write them. The most frustrating aspect about them is that they must be a certain word count long and it seems the less there is to say the larger the word count must be.

If you’re a writer try to get the better assignments , if you’re a client no offense but you’ll have to look elsewhere for sometime to do your tedious demeaning and low paying work.

The last group of B.S. articles I took to write ended up with me being stiffed. I haven’t even gotten the lousy 3.50 each I was promised. If you must take assignments like this, research your client and/or get at least half the promised pay as a deposit before you start writing.

Ebook writing can be your ticket to obtain your financial freedom. This endeavor can offer you with huge revenue, great reputation online, and steady, passive income for many years to come — but only if you care to do the process right.

Here’s how you can breakthrough with ebook writing:

1. Go with interesting topics. You always have to remember that your main goal in writing your ebooks is to make them sell like hotcakes online. So, you better write about topics that online users will be willing to spend their hard-earned money on. You can talk about the things that they would like to know about (hobbies and other areas of interest), their pressing issues, the things that they would like to achieve, and their burning questions. Just make sure that you are very knowledgeable on your chosen topics so you can offer your potential clients with the right kind of information that they will surely appreciate.

2. Keep it simple. Don’t forget that you are writing for different kinds of people who are coming from all points of the globe. Some of these people don’t even speak English and they have different level of comprehension. If you want to easily get your message across, you better communicate your knowledge using plain English and simple terms that can be understood even by a fifth grader.

3. Write from the heart. This is something that can surely set your ebooks apart from the rest. Be genuinely concern with your readers and have fun on all aspects of ebook writing. Consider this endeavor as a fulfilling task and not a boring money-making endeavor so you can always offer your clients with nothing but the best.

4. Deliver quality ebooks. Give your clients their money’s worth by making sure that your ebooks are loaded with useful and valuable information. They must also be well-written and your ideas must flow smoothly. In addition, they must be direct to the point, concise, and relatively short so you will not waste the precious time of your readers.

5. Make them scannable. As you are serving people with limited attention span and people who usually don’t read content word-for-word, it would help if you can make your ebook content easy on the eyes and easy to skim through. This can be achieved by using short paragraphs, bullet points, numbered list, and subheadings all throughout your content.
