What really seems to matter to millennials is how good their trip will look on social media. More than 40 percent of people under the age of 33 are prioritizing travel destinations based on how "Instagrammable" it is, according to a survey by a U.K. home insurance company. New Zealand and Iceland are now popular destinations, but it wasn't that way just a few years ago, according to Ellwood. Freddie Awards: The Best Travel Loyalty Programs in the World

The travel geeks have spoken, and it's now official: Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards is the world's best frequent flier program, according to voters in the annual Freddie Awards, the Oscars of the loyalty world. Norwegian Air's Norwegian Reward and Virgin Australia Velocity Frequent Flyer also won regional accolades from the 4.4 million voters who weighed in. While the Freddies are known for their airline program rankings, they also consider hotel loyalty programs. Marriott Rewards won this year's award, with Le Club AccorHotels and IHG Rewards Club also getting recognition.
