Ferrari Unveil Brand New ‘La Ferrari’: Video Inside!

Even the most obstinate, uninterested, vehicularly oblivious onlooker is often left mouth agape in stunned mesmerism before the luscious, curvaceous crimson of a brand new Ferrari. Sometimes the words alone are enough to turn a crowd of bustling, yapping enthusiasts to a doe-eyed, distracted silence, but the automotive giant had much more than words to show off at last week’s Geneva Motor Show as they unveiled their latest, greatest feat of engineering. The ‘LaFerrari’, Ferrari’s inventively named new flagship supercar made its glorious, all-singing, all-dancing debut steamrolling over every other exhibit at the show. And, of course, it looks utterly stunning.

This latest model comes in to replace the Enzo that is currently sat on the highest peak of the Ferrari Mountain, a mountain that, by all accounts might be the tallest in the motoring world; the best of the best, this certainly is.

The technical among you will no doubt be waiting in uncontrollable anticipation for the specs and with a 6.3 litre, V-12 engine, a seven speed dual-clutch box, and, (are you ready for this) an astounding 963 horsepower, not to mention 660 pound-feet Torque, we rather imagine you’ve had your fill already. Whilst final performance figures haven’t come through just yet, Ferrari say this new machine will hit 60mph in less than 3.0 seconds. The monstrosity’s top speed is expected to peak at 230 mph.

Lamborghini to Celebrate 50th in New Zealand!

We love our dear Lambo here at U Drive Cars. Like a caged animal we keep her locked away in the garages until one of you lucky folks gets to try and tame the beast around our track for a handful of life-affirming, heart-in-your-mouth, exhilaratingly implausible laps. Lamborghini themselves though are no spring chicken, though their exquisite feats of engineering would never have you believe it, the company themselves are hitting the big FIVE-OH this year, and of course, it wouldn’t be a birthday without a celebration now would it!

Yes it seems the circa 1963 supercar manufacturer are planning on throwing one, of what will most likely be many, many parties, at New Zealand’s revered and respected event the CRC Speedshow, as they very recently announced.

Whilst there’ll be plenty to see and do at the show, the Lamborghini offering will include at least six of the most striking and beautiful cars the company have ever come up with, including of course an old favourite in the Miura, the feisty excesses of the Diablo, the Gallardo, just like the little fella we keep caged away at UDC, and the Murcielago amongst others!

“Lamborghini is one of those car marques that car enthusiasts drool over” commented Ross Prevette, MD at the CRC Speedshow, excitedly, going on to say “it’s a real honour to assemble a display which represents many of the Lamborghini models residing in New Zealand.” As such an iconic staple in the motoring world, it’s undoubtedly a huge opportunity to get to showcase Lamborghini in their finest hour – we’re sure the celebrations will be spectacular and full to the brim of Italian style and panache!

Whilst the spectacle at the CRC Speedshow will take place in July; much earlier in March, Lamborghini are planning a 50^th anniversary appearance at the Geneva Motor Show as well, reportedly revealing a special edition model to commemorate the milestone.

We’re a bit late, we know, but forgive us, because we’ve been haring about the place, readying all the logistics for the exciting things we’re going to be bringing you over the next 12 months! Little Mix Star Mixes it Up at U Drive Cars!

It’s been a right old weekend here at U Drive Cars, and between all the haring about we usually do, putting you guys in the seats of the world’s hottest cars and having you tear up our track, we managed to squeeze in just enough time for a visit from a good friend you might have heard of!

Yes just this past week, our humble track played host to the sky-rocketing star, the 2011 X Factor winning Little Mix singer Leigh-Anne! We invited her down for a day of rubber-burning tom-foolery, giving her the opportunity to race around in a couple of the most powerful cars this side of the moon!

But what did the fiery upcoming superstar choose as her chariots of speed? Of course, the equally fiery Ferrari and the ostentatious Lamborghini were put through their paces by the 21 year old: a match made in heaven no doubt!

We took a few snaps of her pulling the Popstar poses next to our four-wheeled beauties, and these all feature below, so have yourself a look. Leigh-Anne commented on the track day via her Tumblr account, ‘That Lamborghini was so sexy!’ – We think so too Leigh, and are rather pleased you enjoyed her!

If you live under a rock, or sans TV, Little Mix stormed to victory at last year’s X-Factor finals, fending off fellow contestant and competition finalist Marcus Collins. The all-girl band, comprised of Jesy Nelson, Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall went on to release ‘Cannonball’, the Damien Rice cover as their first single, and have just put out their debut full-length ‘DNA’, which has been met by critical acclaim the world over. Lastly, if you want to see Leigh-Anne and the gang live, you finally have your chance as the band have announced a January 2013 tour!
