Pi Fraternity invites all students and faculty to come to Presidential Court on Saturday, October 29th between 8am and 3pm to beat up a car. The event is in preparation of the upcoming SEC game between Tennessee (VOLUNTEERS) and South Carolina (GAME COCKS). All proceeds will be donated to charity.

Put on your battle gloves and safety goggles, because this smug tiger is about to quit purring.

The event will mark our third Car Bash in Psi Deuteron's history. To be frank, few things in this world compare to the very honest joy of slamming a sledge hammer into a car. Ask any one of last years near 200 participants how they enjoyed bashing the car in the center of presidential court yard.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-RpCgP0G_4aA/TpZLQbrlMgI/AAAAAAAAAGM/OIhAGZeIA5U/s400/40755_881322799975_9415387_47563892_3289473_n.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5662796327145517570" />

Psi Deuteron is hoping to top last years performance and put a serious dent towards raising money for our national philanthropy- Save a Child's Heart - SACH. Our ongoing support has helped make a difference in giving children a crucial heart operation which has saved several lives already.

Sure the cause is great, but lets have some fun while helping those in need.

Maybe you need to let some steam off before a weekend-long study session at Hodges library, or you want to physically demonstrate your support for UT's football team before a big game. Maybe even impress your friends with your killer instinct.
Whatever it takes, come out and have a good time is all we ask!!!

$1.00 to smash the car 1 time.
$5.00 for 10 Smashes
$10.00 for 1 minute all you can hit

ALL are invited and welcome!
This post originally appeared at UTAEPi.org

This year, Aepi will host its 98th anniversary at the Hilton Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Lake Buena Vista, the surrounding city where brothers from around the country and abroad will join for 4 days of seminars, banquets, and daily Orlando-style entertainment.

The Hilton hotel in Lake Buena Vista is well-rated, noted for clean and well supplied rooms, a friendly staff and a very affordable price. The hotel hosts a number of dining options, though guests may prefer to walk across the street to the Disney Marketplace for a larger variety in dining and shopping possibilities.

The hotel runs a shuttle to Disney's Magic Kingdom with a 30 minute departure/return schedule. The location of the hotel is cited as very convenient making it a perfect destination resort for both business and pleasure.

The Downtown Disney Area features unique entertainment and a myriad selection of dining options, theme-parks, music, festivals, art, and theater including Cirque De Soleil.

Pleasure island, a unique dining and shopping destination includes- Raglan Road Irish Pub & Bar, Fuego by Sosa Cigars, Paradiso 37, Curl by Sammy Duval, Orlando Harley Davidson as popular picks.

Disney has its very own Boardwalk which is lined with piano-bars, dance-halls, and sport-themed specialty cruises. Twitter has become a medium for instant communication and content sharing, and the brothers of Psi Deuteron have decided to take advantage of this service. Right now, we are followed by several other chapters around the country which allows us to keep up to date on our brother chapters and their achievements. In the days going forward, this will become a primary method of communication as it allows us a single point of contact for everyone from current brothers, to alumni, to fellow chapters, to the national offices, and beyond to our alumni and treasured guests and honored sisters within a single form of communication. You can find our Twitter feed at http://twitter.com/utaepi . The site is administrated by current Scribe Eric Lehman and will change ownership to Brothers Lane Carasik (scribe) and Louis Bernsen (master). Please remember to subscribe so you can keep up to date on all of Psi Deut's news and happenings. And as always, keep the faith.
This post originally appeared at UTAEPi.org

In Judaism, Shabbat is the holy day of rest which begins at sundown on Friday evening and ends at night fall on Saturday. Using electronic devices, even driving, is not permitted on Shabbat.
AEPI president, Daniel Knecht, led the programming which included a raffle for an IPod touch raising money to aid in Japan relief efforts after the devastating earth quake and tsunami that took its toll on Japanese lives earlier this month. “We are doing something unprecedented tonight,” Knecht stated, “We will be raffling away an Ipod touch to raise money for Japan.” The response was overwhelming as students pitched in to donate.

Also on the program was a guest speaker from outside the university, Alon Ferency, Rabbi at the Heska Amuna Synagogue in Knoxville. Rabbi Ferency began his talk by challenging students to disconnect their cell phones and internet devices for 1 hour and by doing so, remove any distractions. He went on to describe the significance of Shabbat and answer student questions about the tradition until dinner was served.
Hillel and Aepi were both very pleased with Friday night’s turnout and continue to work towards moving the community to work together, embrace differences, and promote leadership throughout the community.

Interested in finding out more about AEPI or Hillel at the University of Tennessee? Food was in no short supply, ipods were raffled away, the Rabbi answered some of the most perplexing questions about shabbat and judaism, and everyone left feeling satsifyed for an evening well planned and executed.

Psi Deueteron would like to thank everyone who came out and participated in this event. We raised a money for Japan, learned how to throw a huge shabbat dinner for upcomming semesters, and for all those involved in the details, grew closer as a fraternity.

All the brothers stood out in one way or another therefore we should all be proud of this accomplishment.

The effort however will not stop here, after evaluating this event at our next meeting we can look forward to fine tunning the entire process to deliver an even better event the next time we put it on.

Daniel Knecht
Master Alpha Epsilon
Pi Psi Deuteron Chapter
This post originally appeared at UTAEPi.org

We host our very own Shabbat dinners once or twice a month as the weekends permit, and it is always a great time to relax and share in great food and quality company. Hillel also loves Shabbat dinner, and so we decided that it was time to join up and produce a Shabbat dinner that would top all preceding successes. More people, more food, added music, decorations, guest speakers, the works!

We are partnering with Hillel in an attempt to expand the friday night Shabbat dinner tradition at UT that Hillel has diligently pursued for the last few years. AEPi's vision is to have one Shabbat dinner cosponsored every year with Hillel in which we double campus involvement, double the fun, and double the food, celebrating with festivities, feasts, family and friends...

The date of this special event is March 25th, 2011. It will take place at the International House on Melrose Avenue directly across from Hodges library.

The evening as planned begins around 6 pm that Friday and will continue till about 8pm. There will be a guest speaker, Rabbi Alon Ferency, who will deliver some opening remarks to start the evening off. We will be hosting a raffle to win a brand new, iPod Touch (money raised will be donated to one of our international philanthropies). Food will not be in short supply- including brisket, chicken, and a selection of unique Jewish culinary token foods.

The atmosphere is above all relaxed!! We are limiting attendance to 100 people, so contact danielrknecht@gmail.com if you are interested in attending, and you will be admitted provided there is still room!!! Please contact us early to reserve your spot.

AEPI Psi Deuteron- University of Tennessee, Knoxville:

We launched fall semester with our first major fund raising event "BAMA Bash" on the right foot. We not only came together as a fraternity and worked towards a common goal, but our actions made a real difference towards "Save A Child's Heart" no matter what the scale.

With every attempt at putting on an event that gets people involved and money raised we learn a tremendous amount about organization, marketing, leadership and persistance, all of which can be applied to any personal or corporate project we may face in our post-undergraduate lives. This real world experience in working as a team is requisite to leading a productive and fufilling life.

Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity gives us not only pride as being members, but an opportunity to be apart of a brotherhood that cultivates all the skills and values that we could ever need to be leaders in our own communities.

Coming up soon the brothers of Psi Deut will be headed to the smokey mountains for their Bi-Anual Cabin Trip. The trip involves food, music, games, brotherhood activities, relaxing, and zip lining- escaping the repetitive and breaking into the unexpected.

Updates on some of our planned events to come soon- with plenty of pictures. The retreat will be held on November 6.
Once again, the brothers of Psi Deuteron have done an excellent job of putting together a successful on-campus philanthropy. We had an overwhelming response and received lots of interest and donations. Rita's came out and gave away free Italian cce which was a huge hit with students. Psi Deuteron would like to thank Rita's Ice, Three Scoops Yogurt, Lambert's Towing, individual donors, and event chair Sam Thomas for all their support, donations, and hard work in making this a successful event.
Reuben Skahill signed his bid two weeks ago at a brotherhood event in West Knoxville. He is a freshman from Memphis and graduated from Ridgeway High School. Our 4th pledge is Dan Billinson, a freshman from Knoxville. Dan was bid last Saturday at a AEPI social event near campus. He graduated last year from Bearden High School.
Psi Deuteron is extremely proud of our newest pledges and our Rush Chairman, Sam Thomas.

The Brothers of the Psi Deuteron Chapter have officially announced their first philanthropy event of the the year, 'Bama Bash. 'Bama Bash will be held Thursday October 21st in Presidential Courtyard on the UT campus. The Brothers will be bringing in a Crimson painted car into the Presidential Courtyard for the students to wail on with a sledgehammer in order to raise money for our chosen philanthropy. Swings can be taken at the car with a sledge hammer for $1 a piece while $3 will get you a few swings and $5 will give you a minute to release your Third Saturday rage! The event will happen from 8 AM to 3:30 PM and the Brothers will be in attendance all day. Prizes will be given away by our sponsors throughout the day.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Save a Child's Hearth (SACH) organization, an Israeli-based charity providing life-saving heart surgeries and followup care throughout the world.

Prizes and promotional support are being generously provided by Rita's Ice of Knoxville and Three Spoons Yogurt. The car and towing are being provided by Lambert's Towing of Knoxville. If you can't attend but would like to provide support or donations, use the link at UTAEPi.org or contact dknecht@utaepi.org. We thank all of our sponsors and donors, because without them, this event would not be possible.

Please come out and support the brothers and this wonderful organization. We look forward to seeing you.

If you have any questions, please contact event chair Sam Thomas at (901)481-2609. The pledge program is in full swing with an impressive 4 weeks of events teaching pledges about our fraternity and learning to work with selfless intentions upholding the values of honesty and integrity. We have a big program this year with many goals set to high but reachable levels. The tone set in the last couple of weeks has been one of persistence and encouragement. We are looking into the future and using the drive from ever increasing goals as our motivation... the bottom line is; its working.

Next week I will post the outcome of some serious planning which has been underway this week concerning our first philanthropic event coming up-- also look for a huge change in pace as the fledgling program currently in beta phase "Commitement to Excellence" is set into gear. Brothers Sean, Eric, and Sam have begun to settle in to their well stocked South Knoxville retreat for the upcoming school year. Numerous events are being planned here including a Housewarming?Rush Kickoff gathering. Brothers Artie, Jon, and Austin have been busy preparing their West Knoxville apartment for the greatest Rush Psi Deuteron has seen in recent years. We look forward to seeing Alumni, family, and guests at all of our events this year.
This post originally appeared at UTAEPi.org

This is beginning to look like another successful year for AEPi Rush. The Rush committee has been hard at work planning events beginning the first week of school. Our rush committee includes Pledge Master Sean Shapiro, former Rush chair Eric Lehman, and is headed by first-time committee chair Sam Thomas.

As we get closer to the most important time of the year, it's important to remember that Rush is the lifeblood of this Fraternity. If you or anyone you know is aware of a young man entering the University of Tennessee as an undergraduate this Fall who would make a good candidate for AEPi recruitment, visit our Rush page and fill out some information so we can get in touch.
This post originally appeared at UTAEPi.org

The Psi Deuteron Chapter of AEPi finished with an average GPA of 3.06. In comparison, the average GPA of all fraternities was 2.98. The average GPA of all male undergraduates was 2.96.

AEPi continues to make Academics the highest priority for undergraduate men. Through collaborative learning, the brothers of Psi Deuteron have been working to improve their ranking among fraternities and the student body as a whole.

Congratulations Brothers, and thank you for all your hard work.
This post originally appeared at UTAEPi.org
