The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a form every student needs to complete if they plan to attend college in the fall of 2012 if they would like financial aid. With our help, you can complete the FAFSA in about an hour and eliminate any possible confusion. At College Goal Wisconsin, we walk you through the process step-by-step.

College Goal Wisconsin will be held in the Library Computer Lab at Superior High School from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 19, 2012. This is a free event. Please arrive at 2:00p.m.

Some items that you should bring with you are:

Correct social security number
Driver's license (if any)
2011 W-2's
2011 federal tax forms
2011 untaxed income records (Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, welfare or veterans benefits records)
Most recent bank statements
2011 busines and investment mortgage information, business and farm records, and stock, bond, and other investment records
Alien registration card (if you are not a U.S. citizen)

**Dependent students will need their parents' 2011 tax information

One attendee will leave with a scholarship to be used at the instituion of their choice.

Please be aware that you can still attend even if your 2011 income information is incomplete or you forget something. You many complete your FAFSA after the event once you do have the materials. You don't want to miss out on the valuable instruction provided at College Goal Wisconsin.

NEW Student Employment Contract Forms

Student employment contract forms have changed, and we are no longer accepting the old forms. Please complete new contract forms and submit them to the Financial Aid Office for processing. Our new forms are available on our website: www.uwsuper.edu/finaid under the "Supervisor Resources" link. Please note that lump sums now have their own contract, along with payment vouchers, and may no longer be submitted on a student assist contract.

Please discard any old forms that you may have. Thank you for your cooperation.

Information about Student Employment Contracts

Under no circumstances may a student may begin working until their contract has been entered. As a supervisor, you will be notifed when the contract has been entered and your student may begin working.

To help speed the process, please submit as many completed contracts as possible to the Financial Aid Office by August 15th. We understand you may not be able to do this if your student is not on campus to sign their contract and/or complete other paperwork. But if you can, please submit them as early as possible. We appreciate your assistance during this very busy time!

Summer College Financial Aid Deadline EXTENDED!!

The Summer College Financial Aid Deadline has been EXTENDED to June 6, 2011. If you plan to attend Summer College and are seeking financial aid, you must submit an application to our office. It is available in our office at 110 Old Main, or online at:

The application indicates a deadline of May 13^th, but we will accept applications until June 6^th. Applications after that date will NOT be accepted.

You need to get your 2011-2012 FAFSA filed, and we're here to help! Come to the YU Landing anytime between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 3. Laptops will be available, and Financial Aid staff on hand to help you. Please see attached for information about what to bring.

Free information and assistance will be available to current students and high school seniors and their families in filling out the FREE Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

You will need to bring the following to College Goal Sunday:

2009 federal tax returns, if 2010 returns are not complete (student and parent)
2010 untaxed income records (Child Support, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, welfare or non-education veterans benefits records)

Alien registration card (if you are not a U.S. citizen)

All 2010 W-2 forms have been printed and will be out in USPS mail by the end of Friday, January 21, 2011. Copies are available to all employees through the MY UW System portal this year.

Direct Loans may now be serviced by one of five service centers. It is the goal of the Department of Education that all of your Direct Loans will have the same servicer. To find out who is servicing your loan(s), please log onto the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) and view the individual loan(s). Each will list the servicer with their customer service contact information. Customer Service Centers include Direct Loan Servicing (ACS), Great Lakes, Nelnet, Fedloan (PHEAA), and Sallie Mae.

Federal Tax Withholding Tables Change For 2011

IRS Notice 1036 provides a summary of the recent tax law changes and includes the 2011 percentage method income tax withholding tables. The Making Work Pay credit expired on December 31, 2010; therefore the 2011 income tax withholding tables do not reflect this credit. As a result, employees in a lower income tax bracket may see an increase in their tax withholding amount, while employees in a higher tax bracket may see a decrease.

Student employees are encouraged to review their federal income tax withholding every year; individuals and couples with multiple jobs, people who are having children, getting married, getting divorced, and those who typically wind up with a balance due or large refund at the end of the year may want to consider submitting a new W-4 Form. Publication 919, How Do I Adjust My Tax Withholding?, provides information on making changes to federal income tax withholding.

Student Employees Can Now Access Earnings Statements Via The My UW System Portal

In the near future, earnings statements will no longer be available in the e-hive. Effective immediately, you can now access your earnings statements through "My UW System" at http://my.wisconsin.edu. To login, select your campus/institution, and then enter your UW-Superior user ID and password. Your earnings statements will be posted at least 3 days prior to payday; there will be no email notification.

My UW System is an easy-to-use, secure gateway providing convenient online access to:
Earnings Statements
Annual Tax Statements

My UW System News and Employee Resources modules are additional online features that will be used to communicate Payroll, Benefit and Human Resource information. These modules can be hidden by clicking the "Add/remove content" link on the upper right of the main page.

Availability of My UW System Statements
Your latest Earnings Statement is available on My UW System at least three days before your pay date; payments are not available until the actual pay date. Statements are kept online for the current year, plus three additional years.

My UW System Security
Access is secured according to the best practices for web security. The largest potential threat to data security comes from users voluntarily sharing their ID and password with others. You should always log out and close your browser when you have completed your web session. The My UW System website provides additional information about security.

My UW System Maintenance Schedule
On Tuesdays (but not necessarily every Tuesday), between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., maintenance activities could temporarily interrupt access to My UW System. Every Sunday between 3:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., the My UW System statements will not be available due to maintenance.
