Asterisk 1.8 is the next major release series of Asterisk. It will be a Long Term Support (LTS) release, similar to Asterisk 1.4. For more information about support time lines for Asterisk releases, see the Asterisk versions page.

Ubuntu 10.10 Beta

The Ubuntu developers are moving quickly to bring you the absolute latest and greatest software the Open Source community has to offer. The Maverick Meerkat Beta is the beta release of Ubuntu 10.10, bringing with it new features for the next version of Ubuntu.

This is a beta release. Do not install it on production machines. The final stable version will be released on October 10, 2010.

Upgrading from Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

To upgrade from Ubuntu 10.04 LTS on a desktop system, press Alt+F2 and type in "update-manager -d" (without the quotes) into the command box. Update Manager should open up and tell you: New distribution release '10.10' is available. Click Upgrade and follow the on-screen instructions.
To upgrade from Ubuntu 10.04 LTS on a server system: install the update-manager-core package if it is not already installed; edit /etc/update-manager/release-upgrades and set Prompt=normal; launch the upgrade tool with the command sudo do-release-upgrade -d; and follow the on-screen instructions.

SHARING FOLDER ON VIRTUALBOX

I install windows XP on virtualbox due to have to run windows based program. I used it as guest operating system where the host operating system is used Ubuntu. I need to access the ubuntu folder or vice versa to copy file. After trying some configuration, I find the way how to share the folder.

On host side:
1. System -> Administration -> Samba
2. Used password because it need admin right
3. Adduser at Samba
- Open terminal
- Add linux user
>>useradd jack
>>passwd jack
>>smbpasswd -a jack
4. Add user on samba server configuration
Preferences -> Samba User
5. Change network adapter on virtualbox
Default network adapter is NAT, change it to Host-only Adapter

On guest side.
For sharing folder at windows as usual only click right mouse on folder which want to be shared, and choose sharing folder

Note: due to used Host-only Adapter, could not used internet sharing, but if used NAT it could used internet sharing

etm - Event and Task Manager

etm is an acronym for Event and Task Manager. It provides a format for using simple text files to store event, task and action information, a command line interface for viewing tasks and events in a variety of convenient ways and a wx(python)-based GUI for creating and modifying events and tasks as well as viewing them. Displayed items can be grouped by date, context, keyword or project and can be filtered in a number of ways. A display of busy and free times is also supported as is a reckoning view of time spent that is suitable for client billing. Alarms are supported for events and repetition for both events and tasks in a powerful and flexible manner.

In etm, the important distinctions among events, tasks and activities are the following:

Event:	A reminder of something that will happen on a particular day (or days) and, perhaps, at a particular time. An event cannot be begun or finished either early or late. Events may or may not require our participation.
Task:	A reminder of something that needs to be done. It may or may not have a due date, and if it does, it might be begun and even finished before the due date. It might also be finished and even begun after the due date.
Action:	A record of the time-consuming action required to complete a task or participate in an event. Actions are not reminders, they are instead records of how time was actually spent.

Tiny Core Linux

Tiny Core Linux is a very small (10 MB) minimal Linux GUI Desktop. It is based on Linux 2.6 kernel, Busybox, Tiny X, and Fltk. The core runs entirely in ram and boots very quickly. Also offered is Micro Core a 6 MB image that is the console based engine of Tiny Core. CLI versions of Tiny Core's program allows the same functionality of Tiny Core's extensions only starting with a console based system.

It is not a complete desktop nor is all hardware completely supported. It represents only the core needed to boot into a very minimal X desktop typically with wired internet access.

The user has complete control over which applications and/or additional hardware to have supported, be it for a desktop, a netbook, an appliance, or server, selectable by the user by installing additional applications from online repositories, or easily compiling most anything you desire using tools provided.
