Kitesurfing Lessons

The Kitesurfing Club has booked 3 instructors for Saturday,
10th March. We’ll be heading down to Banna Strand, Kerry
early that morning and spending the day down there. Kerry is
the chosen destination due to its reliable winds and quality
beaches so do yourself a favor and come along for the craic.

No experience is needed, but it definitely helps if you can
swim! Any experience controlling kites will be a massive
advantage as well. The water isn’t the warmest this time of
year either so you will need to get a hold of a thick
wetsuit, 5mm - 6mm ideally. Tubes offer a
10% discount to all Club Members, but don’t rush into
spending money on a brand new wetsuit unless you’re serious
about getting into the sport!

If the demand is there, we can organize a bus down.
Otherwise, it’ll be up to the good old car pooling! A
day�??s tuition will work out at �?�60 per head. It’s not
cheap, but considering the price of equipment and insurance
it’s the best we can offer. Unfortunately this will have to
be paid in full the Wednesday before hand. There’ll be one
of the committee lads up in the Old Bar from 12pm -1pm on
Wednesday the 7th so you can pay then.

So if you’re interested in giving one if the most
adrenaline-pumped sports a go, send me an email as soon as
possible and I’ll put your name down for it. There will be
a maximum group size of 30 so the sooner you reply the more
chance you have of getting a place. The Athletics Union
needs to know what students are going if they are to
subsidize the trip so include your Name, Student Number and
Faculty in the email.

Banna Beach, Tralee: 16th and 17th of December

We’ve organised another Kitesurfing training weekend in Banna for the 16th and 17th of December, 2 weeks time. We’ll be heading down on the Saturday, none of that Friday malarkey this time! Colin and Taz want to concentrate on getting everyone up on the board this time round so the unfortunately the beginner group size has to be limited to 12. But this way the lessons will be a lot more focused so you’ll be rolling in no time!
So if you’re interested in coming let me know ASAP! The first 12 names I get back will have a place for the weekend. Apologies but it’s the only fair way to do it. We’ll try and organise another weekend soon after xmas for those who don’t manage to come on this one.
If you have any way of getting your hands on a cosy wetsuit (5mm - 6mm) for the weekend I’d do it, water’s cooling down a bit!
