Experienced Heavy Civil / Industrial Estimator

Prepare cost estimates for construction projects to determine scope and price of projects. Participate in the conceptual development of a construction project and oversee its organization, scheduling, and implementation.

· Consult with clients, vendors and UCI personnel to formulate estimates.

· Analyze plans and contract documents to prepare a quantity take off to the appropriate level of detail necessary to build an estimate that reflects required labor, material equipment and subcontractor categories.

· Review all contract documents to determine appropriate construction methods.

· Solicit vendors or subcontractors to secure scope and pricing for estimates

· Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.

· Prepare estimates to be reviewed by Procurement Officer used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work.

· Prepare cost and project indicators and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project.

· Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.

· Review material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components.

· Visit Projects to accomplish specific fact finding, statistical evaluation of task, or change order pricing.

· Select, create, or update a directory of vendors and subcontractors based on documented abilities, performance & sales terms.

· Proactively look for contract language that would be detrimental to the company and either negotiate terms to standards established as acceptable or notify Procurement Officer.

· Make Certain UCI Staff, Surety and insurance professionals review contract documents.

· Bid Day planning including securing bid runner, making certain bids forms are complete, assignments are made for Scope review are made and a wholesome Bid Lunch is provided to all staff assisting in Bids.

· Assist in preparing a project handoff package including but not limited to budget, schedule, Quotes and contract documentation for the Project Team.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in construction science or closely related engineering degree from an accredited college, university or technical school required. 3 -10 years min working as an Estimator in heavy civil, concrete, or industrial markets.

Experienced Heavy Civil / Industrial Superintendent

Supervise and coordinate activities of construction job site while insuring that safety will not be compromised.

· Ultimately responsible for his Jobsite’s safety.

· Assures that work progress is being made including verification of project and site specifications.

· Schedules the project in logical steps and budgeted time required to meet deadlines.

· Coordinates subcontractor work for specific pieces of the project.

· Takes action to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction site.

· Confers with supervisory personnel, owners, subcontractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, quality control, safety and project progress.

· Interprets contract documents including plans, specifications, submittals and shop drawings for site personnel, vendors and subcontractors to Plan and complete the work.

· Procures material and resources required to complete jobs.

· Supervises, coordinates, and schedules the activities of construction for UCI supervisors and crews as well as subcontractors.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in construction science or closely related engineering degree from an accredited college, university or technical school required. 5 or more years of full-time construction superintendent experience. Valid motor vehicle license and ability to travel also required. Trained and able to use forming systems and surveying equipment like GPS, Robotics Total station, Total station, sight level, and theodolites is also preferred. Pass Drug Screen and background check

Production Associates (Field Engineers, Asst Superintendent) are responsible for leading and supporting UCI’s safety program, managing and directing staff per the Production Leader’s expectations. surveying, layout including analysis of survey maps, blueprints, and other project plans. In addition, Production Associates are required to communicate with owners, vendors, subcontractors and engineers as needed regarding project progress, delivery of materials and other aspects of the project. This position is required to travel as needed.

Concrete Tech (Form Carpenter, Rough Carpenter, Concrete Finisher) Perform tasks involving physical labor at heavy construction projects. May operate hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, and a variety of other equipment and instruments. May clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces, erect scaffolding, and clean up rubble and debris. Builds rough wooden structures, such as concrete forms, work platforms, and structures, according to sketches, or oral instructions. Smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete, such as floors, and walls, using a variety of hand and power tools.

Excavator/Loader Equipment Operator Operate or tend machinery equipped with shovels, or buckets, to excavate and load materials. Includes operation of Backhoes, Forklifts, Front end loaders, Mobile excavators, Skid steer loaders, and Track excavators.

Superintendents are responsible for leading and supporting UCI’s safety program, providing leadership on the jobsite and supporting project planning efforts through communication with Owners, Subcontractors, Production Associates, Field Associates, and Field personnel. In addition, Production Leaders are responsible for developing production milestones based on budget, and ensuring that equipment, material and labor needs are filled as required. This position requires to the ability to lead multiple projects at a time, and is required to travel as needed.

Field Engineers are responsible for leading and supporting UCI’s safety program, managing and directing staff per the Production Leader’s expectations. surveying, layout including analysis of survey maps, blueprints, and other project plans. Project Associates consult with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and UCI personnel to formulate estimates. This includes collecting subcontractor and vendor bids and performing cost analysis to determine cost effectiveness. In addition, Production Associates are responsible for negotiation of contracts, change orders and contractual agreements with owners, subcontractors and vendors.

Construction Superintendent

Position purpose

Supervise and coordinate activities of construction job site while insuring that safety will not be compromised.

Responsibilities

· Ultimately responsible for his Jobsite’s safety.

· Approves final billing documents, before submitted to customers.

· Schedules the project in logical steps and budgeted time required to meet deadlines.

· Plans, organizes, and directs activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems.

· Coordinates subcontractor work for specific pieces of the project.

· Confers with supervisory personnel, owners, subcontractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, quality control, safety and project progress.

· Procures material and resources required to complete jobs.

· Supervises, coordinates, and schedules the activities of construction for UCI supervisors and crews as well as subcontractors.

· Assures that a production plan and drawings are prepared, and then communicated to supervision.

· Coordinates efficient acquisition of resources including equipment, material and tools.

· Collaborates professionally with job and project teammates.

· Reviews and actively leads UCI behavioral based safety program.

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in construction science or closely related engineering degree from an accredited college, university or technical school required.

· Minimum of 3 to 5 years of construction management experience

· Confident with computers including Microsoft suite and estimating software

Construction Supervisor

Position purpose

Construction supervisors manage crews of skilled and unskilled construction personnel at construction sites. Supervisors are usually experienced construction personnel. Supervisors are responsible for the efficient use of labor, machines, and materials by their crews. Supervisors report to site superintendents. Supervisors plan and schedule work and keep records of the materials used and the progress made on a job. They also communicate company rules to their crews. Supervisors work alongside their crews. They must be able to give clear directions and see that they are followed.

Responsibilities

· Ultimately responsible for his crew’s safety.

· Supervise, coordinate, or schedule the activities of construction personnel.

Is in the work zone in order to ensure that UCI standards are adhered to.

· Examines blueprints or plans to determine dimensions of structure.

· May confer with superintendents, field engineers, and other supervisors to coordinate activities on construction sites.

· Assigns workers to such tasks to maximize manpower available.

· Transmit and explain work orders to construction personnel.

· Review work throughout the work process and at completion to ensure that it has been performed properly.

· Perform the same work duties as those supervised or perform more difficult or skilled tasks or assist in their performance.

· Prepares and maintains work records and reports of information such as employee time, daily receipts, and other required UCI documentation.

· Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.

· Examines and inspects work progress, equipment, and construction sites to verify safety and to ensure that standards are met.

Keeps crew focused on safety and ensures that all workers adhere to set safety standards.

Qualifications

· Construction or Business Associate Degree Preferred

· 3-5 years construction experience required

· Willing to travel
