A major initiative by a local team from Udaipur, with assistance from local news reporting teams, has finally resulted in a FIR being lodged against officers and staff of ICICI Bank, one of the largest banks in India.

The matter relates to poor, illeterate and gullible customers being cheated of their hard earned money by staff of the bank.

Special Organisation Group (SOG) of Rajasthan Police has lodged a FIR against staff of various branches of ICICI Bank and head of ICICI Prudential Rohit Saini, alongwith other staff, who were involved in the racket.

All named in the FIR have been accused of cheating farmers, elderly, poor families, illiterate, widows and other such gullible and believing customers into sharing their credentials with the organisations, and issuing insurance policies under the guise of fixed deposits.

SOG IG Dinesh MN, said that on preliminary examination of the complaint, fraud was discovered. Officers of the bank and insurance company used credentials of customers and fraudulently issued policies.

Addl SP of SOG Udaipur, Mahaveer Singh Ranawat had conducted the initial investigation and sent his report to the SOG HQ at Jaipur, following which this action was taken.

Led by Jawahar Nagar, Udaipur resident Nitin Balchandani, who is an ex employee of the insurance company, the victims – Bhagwanlal Gadri (Mavli), Manohar Das Vaishnav (Vasni Kala) and Khemraj Meghwal (Veerdholiya) registered the FIR against Udaipur branch of ICICI Bank and other branches of ICICI Prudential in Rajasthan, accusing them of fraudulently issuing insurance policies and fixed deposits. A case of fraud, dishonesty, misusing credentials, providing wrong information like age, income, etc which are violation of IRDA norms and an illegal nexus between employees of ICIC Bank and ICICI Prudential has been lodged under section 467, 468, 471, 406, 420 and 120B of the IPC.

Case 1: Bhagwanlal Gadri

Gadri had applied for Loan under Kisan Credit Card scheme, and ICICI Bank employees deducted Rs. 50,000 from the loan proceedings and gave him an insurance policy.  He was handed over the Insurance policy against which he was charged a one time payment of Rs. 50,000.  However, later he was asked to pay Rs 50,000 every year, failing which, his insurance policy will lapse and he will lose the initial premium paid.  his qualification in the policy document was said to be 12 class pass, where Gadri has just studied till 5th grade.  His PAN card and signature on the policy document are also forged and his annual income is stated as Rs 3 lac whereas he is in the BPL category.  All documents were in English.

Case 2: Manohardas Vaishnav

Manohardas retired from government service on 28th August.  His retirement proceedings were transferred to the ICICI Bank branch in Fatehnagar. Bank officers, in liaison with officers of the insurance company, issued Manohardas an Insurance policy under the guise of making a fixed deposits.  Further, the policy was such that the policy holder had to deposit a sum of Rs. 1,01,000 every year, failing which, the policy will lapse and the premium paid shall be forfeited.  His income, which was in the form of a monthly pension of Rs 1,850 was also over stated and fraudulently verified to get him to be eligible for the policy.  Further, as per IRDA norms, such a policy cannot be issued to any individual over 60 years of age.  His recorded age in the policy application was also understated.

Collector Bishnu Charan Mallick has expressed his concern over illegal parking on the road outside Mohta Park. He has given instructions for necessary action to be taken at the earliest.

A meeting took place on Friday with District Transport Management Committee. In this meeting, Collector Bishnu Charan Mallick spoke about blind spots and dark spots in villages and illegal parking in the city. He expressed concern on the fact that no one is bothered about illegal parking outside Mohta Park. He got agitated that the road is being blocked by parked vehicles but none of the officers have taken action against this.

Illegal parking that covers the road and disturbs the traffic regulation is the reason behind many accidents. Even Durga Nursery road is facing the same parking issue. Collector Mallick has given orders for strict action against illegal parking and encroachments. He has also given directions for creating proper traffic systems. Dark spots and blind spots on the roads must be marked well to avoid accidents. Medical mobile units and regular patrolling is needed on highways, too.

Strictness of Collector was well displayed in the meeting when senior offices were missing in the meeting earlier. He asked the other officers present to return to their offices and demanded that responsible and senior officers must attend the meeting to discuss the important issues. After this, officers of the concerned department attended the meeting. ADM City Subhash Chandra Sharma, Chief Manager State Transport Udaipur Depot Mahesh Upadhyaya and a few other officers from the concerning departments were also present in the meeting.

Vehicle or no vehicle-Pay parking fees https://udaipurtimes.com/vehicle-no-vehicle-pay-parking-fees/ https://udaipurtimes.com/vehicle-no-vehicle-pay-parking-fees/#respond Sat, 18 Nov 2017 09:46:47 +0000 https://udaipurtimes.com/?p=122312 Students raised an issue regarding parking fees in Arts college.

The post Vehicle or no vehicle-Pay parking fees appeared first on UdaipurTimes.com.

Whether you bring your vehicle to college or not, pay parking fees. This is an issue raised by students who go to Arts College for examinations but do not take their private vehicles along.

Arts College (MLSU) is charging parking fees from non-collegiate students as well. No rules and regulations are being followed in this direction. Whether a student brings his vehicle or not, he is  charged 55 rupees as parking fees. Obviously, non-vehicle students are in a fix. This is not so in the case of Science College or Commerce College or even Law College. It is only Arts College charging such irrelevant fees.

Around 2 thousand regular students and 3 thousand non-collegiate students go to Arts College for examinations. Parking fees is taken from regular students during the time of admission. Non-collegiate students are charged when they go to submit the examination forms. As this rate, around 5000 students appear for examinations where only 1000 students have their vehicles. The most surprising fact is that the college doesn’t have enough parking space to accommodate even 500 vehicles. College administration is actually getting 2 lakh rupees for nothing.

When questioned on this matter, Dean Sadhna Kothari reportedly clarified saying that it is almost impossible to know as to who has a vehicle and who doesn’t. This is the reason why parking fees is taken while examination forms are being submitted. She also mentioned that parking fee is being charged as per old rules which are computerised and not amended since long.

Some students bringing their vehicles to college are agitated that administration is charging 25 rupees more than what should be charged. They clarified that parking fee calculates to 30 rupees for 6 exams. The students suggested that parking fee should be taken from students at the time of parking and not in advance. They also said that if more than one person uses a single vehicle, then the administration is charging on head count which is not genuine.

With all these concerns Vice Chancellor JP Sharma said that the issue has been raised in the meeting. He has assured justice in this matter.

There’s no denying that we live in the digital era. India despite its uneven socio-economic status is fast adapting and growing with the technology. Be it big business giants, fashion, or start-ups, digitalization is empowering all and the massive development taking place is its testimony. One area where digitalization has started spreading and surly for the betterment is the education sector.

People now realize the upper hand practical and graphical lessons have over theoretical ones. It not hidden that how lessons with visuals, pictures, on-screen explanation are enjoyed and understood more by students. The movement of making classroom learning fun for students started in India with big metropolitan schools introducing the digital learning concept. Now, this movement can be seen spreading in rural schools, where children are now genuinely understanding what they are being taught.

Though there are software designed explicitly for the purpose that school and teachers use but apart from that there are some useful tools that can be included further making the teaching process engaging. Here, we have compiled a list of five such tools that can help make classroom experience fun and digital –

  1. Cacoo

Cacoo is a great tool that can be used by teachers to explain complex lessons or topics creatively. With the help of this tool, any topic can be easily explained to students by transforming it into graph, flowchart, or diagram. Another great feature is its real-time collaboration functionality.  Therefore, teachers can create great interactive flowcharts together and even ask students for their inputs, as to how they think the scenario can be explained better.

  1. Learnboost

Learnboost is digital grade book at the core with some additional features simplifying the student development tracking process. It allows teachers to track students’ progress and share the same with parents. They can also intimate parents about the future schedule, lessons lineup and even attendance.

  1. Canva

It is an app with extensive usability both for teachers and students. Canva is a free designing portal that gives user full creative freedom. Teachers can use it create attractive classroom lessons, certificates, report cards, schedule, etc. While students can use it for assignments, report cover page and even pictorial representation for their lessons. On-line or off-line, Canva has templates for all imagined platforms there can be, plus it’s an excellent place for students to take designing inspiration.

4.Pixton

Pixton is a unique tool that takes classroom learning to the next-level. With Pixton students create their own animated self and then use it to explain what they have learned. It not only improves children’s creative and communication skill but helps them learn and understand the lesson better.

  1. Socrative

Often teachers have a hard time figuring whether or not students understood the lesson. Socrative is an app that helps mentors detect students who are lacking behind and need help. It’s a classroom engagement that gives a quick and fair picture of students understanding. Teachers can create engaging activities like quiz, true or false, short answers, and multiple choice for students and even makes their reviewing easy.

Classroom digitalization along with such interactive tools will make a huge difference in students learning. It is the future, and the upcoming generation relates to them technology better and finds it engaging. So, together let’s lead into the digital era of education.

mobile batteries will contain zinc instead of lithium ion hindustan zinc

Researchers in California have found a replacement to the Lithium-Ion batteries which are infamous for overheating, bursting into flames and even exploding. A safer, less expensive, smaller and lighter substitution has been explored.

Yes! Zinc-based batteries which are also rechargeable, store as much energy as Lithium-Ion batteries and could be used in smartphones, mild hybrid engines, electric vehicles, electric bicycles, and eventually power grid storage. The experts are aggressively exploring a scale-up of this technology and feel that the Zinc based batteries will be ready for the market by the end of 2019.

Even the U.S. Navy members are researching alternative technologies to Lithium-Ion batteries. Debra Rolison, Head of the Advanced Electrochemical Materials Section at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C., says that the Navy is concerned for the safety of its soldiers. Zinc-based batteries do not pose the same fire risk linked with Lithium-Ion batteries, and can surpass them, making them “the go-to global battery for single-use applications,”. The Navy researchers are also exploring cathodes other than nickel to use with the Zinc anodes. “Silver-Zinc shows much greater power than that of Lithium-Ion” Rolison says. “It could be of extreme interest to the Navy for submersible applications”.
